Measuring the spectrum of laser light scattered by a magnetized arc plasma (n e =1.2 × 1016 cm?3,T e =3.2 eV, α=0.6,B z =120 kG) we observe deviations from the normal thermal spectrum. The observed modulation is most probably due to the influence of the magnetic field. Two other less likely possibilities (enhanced electron oscillations or the existence of an additional colder electron component) are discussed.  相似文献

The transition radiation that appears when a short laser pulse crosses the vacuum-plasma boundary and that is attributable to an vortex electric current produced at the plasma boundary by averaged ponderomotive forces has been considered for the first time. The spectral, angular, and spatiotemporal characteristics of the transition radiation in a vacuum are analyzed. It is shown that under typical conditions of present-day laser plasma experiments, the frequency of the transition radiation lies in the terahertz range and its power can reach several megawatts.  相似文献

In this paper, the mechanism of free electron laser with a guide magnetic field is investigated by analyzing spontaneous radiation spectrum of electrons. The physical relation between spontaneous radiation and stimulated radiation in FEL with a guide magnetic field is studied. It is found that this relation in FEL is similar to that in quantum lasers. The spontaneous radiation spectrum is discrete. The frequency of stimulated radiation in FEL is oneselected and amplified in the radiation spectrum.  相似文献

It is shown that the ejection of material is explosive, the material emerging as jets moving at 20 km/sec. This supersonic flow produces a shock wave in the plasma. The main source of emission by the evaporated material lies in the jets and in the zones of the shock wave, these determining the character of the spectrum. Spectra recorded with a laser show a strong continuous background, together with line broadening and reversal, as well as absorption lines. The character of the spectrum is independent of the energy density of the laser radiation, but it is very much affected by the air pressure.  相似文献

By using three-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations, externally injected electron beam acceleration and radiation in donut-like wake fields driven by a Laguerre-Gaussian pulse are investigated. Studies show that in the acceleration process the total charge and azimuthal momenta of electrons can be stably maintained at a distance of a few hundreds of micrometers. Electrons experience low-frequency spiral rotation and high-frequency betatron oscillation, which leads to a synchrotron-like radiation. The radiation spectrum is mainly determined by the betatron motion of electrons. The far field distribution of radiation intensity shows axial symmetry due to the uniform transverse injection and spiral rotation of electrons. Our studies suggest a new way to simultaneously generate hollow electron beam and radiation source from a compact laser plasma accelerator.  相似文献

Based on laser radar equations, a Doppler shift model of a laser pulse beam scattered by a rotating arbitrary convex target is reported in this paper. The boundary relations between an incident pulse beam and the detected area elements are analyzed by geometric methods. The Doppler shift characteristics of the rotating cone and cylinder are discussed and the difference between the laser pulse beam and the plane wave scattered from the same rotating target is compared accordingly. Numerical simulations show that the Doppler shift is tightly relevant to their dimensions, speeds, and so on. In the same incidence conditions, the pulse beam and plane wave have difference peak values and the same Doppler shift bandwidth. If the waist radius of the pulse beam is larger, the peak value is higher, and the Doppler shifts are proportional to the speed of the rotating target. By virtue of our theoretical model, we probe into the scattered characteristics of the Doppler shifts of a laser pulse beam, which would benefit target identification in national defense.  相似文献

We have proposed an efficient scheme of generation of short dense electron bunches during the interaction at large angles of incidence of a laser pulse with a thin transversally semibounded laser target. Streams of bunches can be used to simultaneously and independently generate pulsed X-ray radiation as fast electrons hit secondary targets. Dependences of bunch parameters (the number of particles in the bunch and the bunch energy and thickness) on the angle of incidence and laser intensity have been obtained. It has been shown that, upon reflection from the target, the relativistic-intensity laser wave is efficiently converted (the energy-conversion factor reaches ~20%) into a sequence of electromagnetic tens-of-nanometer-long atto pulses, which follow one after another in the period of the initial laser wave. We have investigated how the parameters of the atto pulse depend on the angle of incidence and the laser intensity. We have shown that atto pulses are generated most efficiently at large angles of incidence (≥50°) of the laser pulse on the target.  相似文献

The case of incomplete similarity for which the processes in pulse gas-discharge lasers (PGL) are only similar in time is examined theoretically. It is shown that this kind of similarity is realized in PGL upon attainment of maximum efficiency.
