We extend the result of Joyal and Tierney asserting that a morphism of commutative algebras in the ∗-autonomous category of sup-lattices is an effective descent morphism for modules if and only if it is pure, to an arbitrary ∗-autonomous category V (in which the tensor unit is projective) by showing that any V-functor out of V is precomonadic if and only if it is comonadic.  相似文献

We study the left degree of an irreducible morphism with X and Yi indecomposable modules in a standard component of the Auslander-Reiten quiver, for 1≤ir. It is known that every effective (global-) descent morphism of topological spaces is an effective étale-descent morphism. On the other hand, in the predecessor of this paper we gave examples of:
a descent morphism that is not an effective étale-descent morphism;
an effective étale-descent morphism that is not a descent morphism.
Both of the examples in fact involved only finite topological spaces, i.e. just finite preorders, and now we characterize the effective étale-descent morphisms of preorders/finite topological spaces completely.  相似文献

Any idempotent element e of an (associative) algebra T defines an algebra A=eTe with unit e. We show that the morphism which compares their Hochschild cohomology algebras is a Gerstenhaber algebras morphism. We study the notion of character Connes amenability of dual Banach algebras and show that if A is an Arens regular Banach algebra, then A** is character Connes amenable if and only if A is character amenable, which will resolve positively Runde’s problem for this concept of amenability. We then characterize character Connes amenability of various dual Banach algebras related to locally compact groups. We also investigate character Connes amenability of Lau product and module extension of Banach algebras. These help us to give examples of dual Banach algebras which are not Connes amenable.  相似文献

We examine the condition that a complex Banach algebra has dense invertible group. We show that, for commutative algebras, this property is preserved by integral extensions. We also investigate the connections with an old problem in the theory of uniform algebras.

In this paper, the new techniques and results concerning the structure theory of modules over noncommutative Iwasawa algebras are applied to arithmetic: we study Iwasawa modules over p-adic Lie extensions k of number fields k 'up to pseudo-isomorphism'. In particular, a close relationship is revealed between the Selmer group of Abelian varieties, the Galois group of the maximal Abelian unramified p-extension of k as well as the Galois group of the maximal Abelian p-extension unramified outside S where S is a certain finite setof places of k. Moreover, we determine the Galois module structure of local units and other modules arising from Galois cohomology.  相似文献

In the modular representation theory of finite groups the theory of projectivity relative to subgroups is of fundamental importance. To generalize this notion the theory of projectivity relative to modules was introduced by the first author. Our aim is to show some aspects of cohomology theory of finite groups concerning projectivity of modules relative to both subgroups and modules. We shall give some applications to the cohomology theory; especially we shall calculate the mod 2 cohomology algebras of finite groups with wreathed Sylow 2-subgroups.  相似文献

We extend the ordinary concept of theory morphism in institutions to extra theory morphisms. Extra theory morphisms map theories belonging to different institutions across institution morphisms. We investigate the basic mathematical properties of extra theory morphisms supporting the semantics of logical multi-paradigm languages, especially structuring specifications (module systems) á la OBJ-Clear. They include model reducts, free constructions (liberality), co-limits, model amalgamation (exactness), and inclusion systems.We outline a general logical semantics for languages whose semantics satisfy certain logical principles by extending the institutional semantics developed within the Clear-OBJ tradition. Finally, in the Appendix, we briefly illustrate this with the concrete example of CafeOBJ.  相似文献

The main objects of study in this paper are Fréchet algebras having an Arens Michael representation in which every Banach algebra is finite dimensional. We shall classify these algebras using a theorem which ensures that the image of any continuous linear map of a Fréchet space of finite type (i.e., for which the defining seminorms have a finite dimensional cokernel) into any Fréchet space is in fact closed.This work is part of the research project of the European Research Training Network Analysis and Operators, contract HPRN-CT 2000 00116, funded by the European Commission.  相似文献

We consider the distribution of the first sum of a sequence of positive integer valued iid random variables which is divisible byd. This is known to converge, when divided byd, to a geometric distribution asd. We obtain results on the rate of convergence using two contrasting approaches. In the first, Stein's method is adapted to geometric limit distributions. The second method is based on the theory of Banach algebras. Each method is shown to have its merits.  相似文献

Bohr's inequality says that if is a bounded analytic function on the closed unit disc, then for 0 leq r 1/3 and that1/3 is sharp. In this paper we give an operator-theoretic proofof Bohr's inequality that is based on von Neumann's inequality.Since our proof is operator-theoretic, our methods extend toseveral complex variables and to non-commutative situations. We obtain Bohr type inequalities for the algebras of boundedanalytic functions and the multiplier algebras of reproducingkernel Hilbert spaces on various higher-dimensional domains,for the non-commutative disc algebra An, and for the reduced(respectively full) group C*-algebra of the free group on ngenerators. We also include an application to Banach algebras. Let \(\mathbb {V}=(VV, \otimes , I)\) be a symmetric monoidal category such that \(\mathcal {V}\) is locally presentable and that all functors \(V\otimes - : \mathcal {V} \rightarrow \mathcal {V}\) for \(V \in \mathcal {V}\) preserve reflexive coequalizers and directed colimits. It is proved that any pure morphism of commutative ??-monoids is an effective descent morphism with respect to the indexed category given by commutative ??-monoids and modules over them. For a smashing localisation L of the derived category of a differential graded (dg) algebra A we construct a dg algebra A L and a morphism of dg algebras AA L that induces the canonical map in cohomology. As a first application we obtain a localisations of a dg algebra A with graded commutative homology at a prime ideal in the homology H * A, namely a morphism of dg algebras. As a second application we can use results of Keller to “model” every smashing localisation of compactly generated algebraic triangulated categories by a morphism of dg algebras.   相似文献

We extend the Frattini theory of formations and Schunck classes of finite groups to some Frattini theory of formations and Schunck classes of finite universal algebras of Malcev varieties. We prove that if F(1) is a nonempty formation (Schunck class) of algebras of a Malcev variety, then its Frattini subformation (Frattini Schunck subclass) (F) consists of all nongenerators of F; moreover, if M is a formation (Schunck class) in F; then (M) (F).  相似文献
