We report a successful fabrication of c-axis oriented GdBa2Cu3O7−δ (GdBCO) films on the BaSnO3 (BSO) buffer layers on ion-beam assisted deposition (IBAD)-MgO template by pulsed-laser deposition (PLD). The (0 0 l) growth and in-plane textures of BSO buffer layers were found sensitive to the substrate temperature (Ts). With increasing the BSO layer thickness up to ∼165 nm, in-plane texture (Δ? ∼ 6.2°) of BSO layers was almost unaltered while completely c-axis oriented BSO layers were obtainable from samples with the thickness below ∼45 nm. On the BSO buffer layers showing in-plane texture of 6.2° and RMS surface roughness of ∼8.6 nm, GdBCO films were deposited at 780–800 °C. All GdBCO films exhibited Δ? values of 4.6–4.7°, Tc,zero of ∼91 K, and critical current density (Jc) over 1 MA/cm2 at 77 K in a self-field. The highest Jc value of 1.82 MA/cm2 (Ic of 51 A/cm-width) was achieved from the GdBCO film deposited at Ts of 790 °C. These results support that BSO can be a promising buffer layer on the IBAD-MgO template for obtaining high-Jc GdBCO coated conductors.  相似文献

A Nd:YAG laser is environmentally safe and economical with no poisonous or hazardous gases and no expensive gases. We prepared Y123 films by using the fourth harmonic Nd:YAG pulsed laser deposition (PLD) method and optimized the deposition conditions on MgO single crystalline substrates and IBAD-MgO substrates for Y123 coated conductor. We found that the optimal deposition conditions acquired bi-axially aligned Y123 films on both substrates with Tc ∼ 90 K and Jc > 1 MA/cm2 at 77 K in self-field. For obtaining high Ic, we fabricated thick Y123 films on both substrates and the maximum Ic per 1 cm in width reached 186 A/cm-width on the IBAD-MgO substrate. Interestingly, there were no a-axis oriented grains within the films up to 1.8 μm thick. This might be an especial feature of the Nd:YAG-PLD method. We believe that the Nd:YAG-PLD method is promising method for RE123 coated conductor production.  相似文献

On the research and development of coated conductors in Japan, the Ic characteristics and the length have been remarkably improved in the national project. Five hundred meter-long tapes with higher Ic values than 300 A/cm-width were realized by the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and the metal organic deposition using trifluoroacetates (TFA-MOD) processings for the superconducting layer on the IBAD-GZO buffered substrates. In order to realize the low cost by the increasing the production rate of the ion beam assisted deposition (IBAD) layer, the process of IBAD-MgO was developed and a 1000 m-long IBAD buffer tape was fabricated at an extremely high production rate of 1 km/h. On the other hand, the artificial pinning center has been introduced in both PLD and MOD processing. The BaZrO3 nano-rods were aligned along the c-axis of GdBCO superconducting films by the PLD process. The Jc value in the magnetic field parallel to the c-axis was remarkably improved. Additionally, the BaZrO3 nano-particles were uniformly dispersed in YGdBCO films by the TFA-MOD process and the JcB–θ property was confirmed to be isotropic.  相似文献

We report the effects of BSO addition on the crystallinity, texture, and the field dependency of critical current density (Jc) of GdBCO coated conductors (CCs) prepared by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). Undoped and BSO-doped GdBCO films showed only c-axis oriented growth, and the incorporated BSO nanorods exhibited epitaxial relationship with the GdBCO matrix. In comparison with undoped film, BSO-doped GdBCO film exhibited greatly enhanced Jc and higher pinning force densities in the entire field region of 0–5 T (H//c) at 77 and 65 K. The BSO-doped GdBCO film showed the maximum pinning force densities (Fp) of 6.5 GN/m3 (77 K, H//c) and 32.5 GN/m3 (65 K, H//c), ~2.8 times higher than those of the undoped sample. Cross-sectional TEM analyses exhibited nano-structured BSO nanorods roughly aligned along the c-axis of the GdBCO film, which are believed effective flux pinning centers responsible for strongly improved critical current densities in magnetic fields.  相似文献

Gd1Ba2Cu3Ox (GdBCO) coated conductors using bi-axially textured clad-type substrates have been developed for high temperatures superconducting (HTS) power cables. In this project, large amount of coated conductors (CCs) are necessary for the several tests of basic properties of HTS power cables and the fabrication of a 15 m long 3-in-one HTS model cable. In order to ensure an adequate amount and properties of coated conductors, the stable manufacturing technology and the high production rate at each process are required. In this report, we have newly installed a high power laser of 300 W for the PLD system, resulting in improvement of the manufacturing stability and the deposition rate for GdBCO film. In addition, we have optimized target–substrate distance in PLD process, and the uniformity of Ic distribution across 30 mm wide tapes were remarkably improved. Furthermore, the surface morphology of buffer layers were enhanced by optimizing the deposition condition using electron beam (EB) evaporation method, and the maximum Ic value for a short sample has achieved 497 A/cm at 77 K in the self-field. Based on these progresses, we are currently developing the stable manufacturing process for long CCs with over 400 A/cm.  相似文献

In Fujikura, a large-scale ion-beam-assisted deposition (IBAD) system with a large ion source has been employed to fabricate biaxially textured MgO films. The large-scale IBAD system has multiple deposition lanes where substrate tapes move, and therefore we have to optimize experimental conditions at each lane. We selected an appropriate deposition area and, finally, we successfully fabricated a 1 km-length IBAD-MgO film at a production rate of 1 km/h. We also studied pulsed-laser-deposited (PLD) CeO2 films directly on the IBAD-MgO films in spite of a large lattice mismatch between CeO2 and MgO. From transmission electron microscope (TEM) observations at an interface between MgO and CeO2 films, it is revealed that there is domain-matching-epitaxy relationship between MgO and CeO2 films. We also fabricated thin (1.0 μm) and thick (3.7 μm) PLD – GdBa2Cu3O7−x (GdBCO) film on the long-length CeO2/MgO substrate (over 150 m). Critical currents (Ic) and current density (Jc) were over 300 A and 3 MA/cm2 respectively for the thin GdBCO film and were about 645 A and 1.7 MA/cm2 for the thick GdBCO film at 77 K in self-field.  相似文献

The microstructure of the recently developed coated conductors was investigated by using electron back scatter diffraction pattern (EBSP). We prepared TFA (trifluoroacetates)-MOD (metal organic deposition) derived YBa2Cu3O7−x (YBCO) films on CeO2/LaMnO3/IBAD-MgO/Gd2Zr2O7/Hastelloy C276 substrates of 1 cm-width. The EBSP observation showed that there was a difference of surface microstructure between the midsection and the end of TFA-MOD YBCO film layer in the direction of width. This is attributed not to the local difference of the biaxial texture of CeO2 top layer but to the local difference of growth condition during TFA-MOD process.  相似文献

In high temperature superconductor applications used in electric power devices, YBCO coated conductors may be subjected to short-circuit fault-currents that are 10–30 times the normal operating current. These over-currents cause heat generation, resulting in Ic degradation of the YBCO coated conductor. Therefore, it is necessary to fully investigate the degradation characteristics of YBCO coated conductors. We previously conducted preliminary experiments on the degradation of YBCO sample tapes resulting from the over-current pulse drive.  相似文献

Yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) buffer layers were deposited on CeO2 buffered biaxially textured Ni-W substrate by reel-to-reel pulsed laser deposition (PLD) for the application of YBa2Cu3O7−δ (YBCO) coated conductor and the influence of substrate temperature and laser energy on their crystallinity and microstructure were studied. YSZ thin films were prepared with substrate temperature ranging from 600 to 800 °C and laser energy ranging from 120 to 350 mJ. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were used to investigate how thin film structure and surface morphology depend on these parameters. It was found that the YSZ films grown at substrate temperature below 600 °C or laser energy above 300 mJ showed amorphous phase, the (0 0 1) preferred orientation and the crystallinity of the YSZ films were improved with increasing the temperature, but the surface roughness increased simultaneously, the SEM images of YSZ films on CeO2/NiW tapes showed surface morphologies without micro-cracks. Based on these results, we developed the epitaxial PLD-YSZ buffer layer process at the tape transfer speed of 3-4 m/h by the reel-to-reel system for 100 m class long YBCO tapes.  相似文献

The dependence of the critical current density (Jc) on the orientation of an applied magnetic field was studied for a prototype (Gd,Y)Ba2Cu3O7?x (GdYBCO) coated conductor fabricated by MOCVD on an IBAD-MgO template. Additional rare-earth cations (Y and Gd) and Zr were incorporated into the superconducting film to form (Y,Gd)2O3 and BaZrO3 nanoparticles extended nearly parallel to the a–b planes and to the c-axis, respectively, to enhance the flux pinning. In-field measurement of Jc was carried out with electrical current flowing either along or perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the tape, while a maximum Lorentz force configuration was always maintained. Details in the angular dependence of Jc were related to the unique structure of the film, specifically the tilt in the GdYBCO lattice and the tilts in the extended (Y,Gd)2O3 and BaZrO3 nanoparticles. XRD and TEM were used to study the structure of the coated conductor. The effect of the misalignment between the external field H and the internal field B on the angular dependence of Jc is discussed.  相似文献

In addition to the well investigated YBa2Cu3O7?δ (Y-123, YBCO) compound, many other rare earth-123 compounds are candidate materials for the production of coated conductors. Sm-123 seems to be an excellent alternative because of its higher transition temperature (Tc) and higher critical current densities (Jc) in external magnetic fields. Because of the fast decrease of Jc in YBCO at elevated temperatures, especially around the boiling point of liquid nitrogen, the slightly higher Tc can be an important advantage. Recently, significant progress has been made in the production of long length Sm-123 based coated conductors. We report here on transport measurements on these conductors in the liquid nitrogen temperature range. The critical current densities were determined as a function of the applied field and the crystallographic orientation under maximum Lorentz force configuration. A shift of the c-axis (~7°) from the tape normal was found. The conductor properties were compared to those of commercially available YBCO coated conductors. The critical current densities as well as the irreversibility fields are higher in the SmBCO tapes, thus demonstrating the superior properties of the Sm-123 compound.  相似文献

Improvement of mechanical and tribological properties on AISI D3 steel surfaces coated with [Ti-Al/Ti-Al-N]n multilayer systems deposited in various bilayer periods (Λ) via magnetron co-sputtering pulsed d.c. method, from a metallic binary target; has been studied in this work exhaustively. The multilayer coatings were characterized in terms of structural, chemical, morphological, mechanical and tribological properties by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy, nanoindentation, pin-on-disc and scratch tests, respectively. The failure mode mechanisms were studied by optical microscopy. Results from X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the crystal structure of TiAl/TiAlN multilayer coatings has a tetragonal and FCC NaCl-type lattice structures for Ti-Al and Ti-Al-N, respectively, i.e., it was found to be non-isostructural multilayers. An enhancement of both hardness and elastic modulus up to 29 GPa and 260 GPa, respectively, was observed as the bilayer periods (Λ) in the coatings were decreased. The sample with a bilayer period (Λ) of 25 nm and bilayer number n = 100 showed the lowest friction coefficient (∼0.28) and the highest critical load (45 N), corresponding to 2.7 and 1.5 times better than those values for the coating deposited with n = 1, respectively. These results indicate an enhancement of mechanical, tribological and adhesion properties, comparing to the [Ti-Al/Ti-Al-N]n multilayer systems with 1 bilayer at 26%, 63% and 33%, respectively. This enhancement in hardness and toughness for multilayer coatings could be attributed to the different mechanisms for layer formation with nanometric thickness such as the novel Ti-Al/Ti-Al-N effect and the number of interfaces that act as obstacles for the crack deflection and dissipation of crack energy.  相似文献

Two groups of coated conductor samples with different thicknesses of CeO2 cap layers deposited by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) under the same conditions have been studied. Of them, one group is of CeO2 films, which are deposited on stainless steel (SS) tapes coated by IBAD-YSZ (IBAD-YSZ/SS), and the other group is of CeO2/YSZ/Y2O3 multilayers, which are deposited on NiW substrates by PLD for the fabrication of YBCO-coated conductor through the RABiTS approach. YBCO film is then deposited on the tops of both types of buffer layers by PLD. The effects of the thickness of the CeO2 film on the texture of the CeO2 film and the critical current density (Jc) of the YBCO film are analysed. For the case of CeO2 film on IBAD-YSZ/SS, there appears a self-epitaxy effect with increasing thickness of the CeO2 film. For CeO2/YSZ/Y2O3/NiW, in which the buffer layers are deposited by PLD, there occurs no self-epitaxy effect, and the optimal thickness of CeO2 is about 50 nm. The surface morphologies of the two groups of samples are examined by SEM.  相似文献

We have been studying REBa2Cu3Ox (RE: rare earth elements) coated conductors on clad-type substrates. We developed coated conductors on the 10 mm wide clad-type tape, and succeeded in obtaining the maximum critical current of 380 A/cm with the 2.0 μm thick GdBa2Cu3Ox superconducting film. At present, we are trying to widen the tape width from 10 mm to 30 mm in order to increase production throughput. We report our recent progress on scaling-up of the buffer layers and their properties.  相似文献

A chemical solution deposition process was used to grow epitaxial Nd2Mo2O7 (NMO) buffer layers on YSZ substrates to produce YBa2Cu3O7?δ (YBCO) coated conductors. The NMO precursor solution prepared using metal acetylacetonates was spin-coated onto single crystal YSZ substrate of 10 mm × 10 mm in size at 3000 rpm for 30 s and heat-treated at 1000 °C for 2 h in Ar after calcinated at 550 °C for 1 h. The YBCO film was deposited by TFA-MOD route on top of the NMO/YSZ architecture. The phase purity and the crystalline orientation of NMO and YBCO films were evaluated by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were used to observe their microstructure and their surface roughness. The critical current density (Jc) of YBCO film on NMO/YSZ is 1.8 MA/cm2 at 77 K in self-field, which indicates that the Nd2Mo2O7 is a potential buffer for YBCO coated conductor.  相似文献

We demonstrate that the quality of the as-grown single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) can be effectively improved by the addition of the B ingredient in the Fe/MgO catalyst. The as-grown SWCNTs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and Raman spectroscopy. The SWCNTs prepared by the pure Fe/MgO catalyst have relatively low graphite crystallinity and are coated by much amorphous carbon. The intensity ratio of the D- and G-bands (ID/IG) in Raman spectra is relatively high (0.098 for laser 532 nm and 0.075 for laser 785 nm). The SWCNTs grown from the Fe/MgO catalyst doped with 0.1 part of B have more regular graphite structure with little amorphous carbon. The ID/IG values reduced remarkably (0.041 for laser 532 nm and 0.040 for laser 785 nm). The effect would be attributed to the inhibitory action of the doped B on the formation of radical hydrocarbon species for the formation of SWCNTs.  相似文献

We have studied a hot-wall heating system to produce GdBa2Cu3Oy (GdBCO) films with large critical currents (Ic) at a high production rate by a pulsed-laser-deposition (PLD) method. GdBCO films fabricated at a production rate of 30 m/h under the optimized conditions, especially a distance of 95 mm between the target and the substrate (T–S), exhibited high critical current densities (Jc) of about 3 MA/cm2 and Ic over 300 A at a thickness of 1–2 μm. Furthermore, long GdBCO tapes prepared by repeated depositions at each tape-passing speed of 80 m/h showed uniform Ic distribution along the longitudinal direction, because the hot-wall system enabled to stabilize temperature within a few degrees at 800 °C. A 170 m long tape with Ic over 600 A was successfully fabricated at a production rate of 16 m/h using a laser power of 360 W.  相似文献

Potassium-oxygen species were deposited on pure, Si nanoparticles coated and H-terminated Si nanoparticles coated p-Si(1 0 0) surfaces by pulsed laser ablation of potassium superoxide (KO2) target. The deposition properties, composition and the work function changes of the deposited species were investigated in situ using an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and a Kelvin probe measurement. The deposited species were assigned to K2O2 and KO2, and they can be selectively deposited by controlling the laser fluence: i.e., at 200 mJ/cm2 and at those more than 300 mJ/cm2, respectively. Experimental results showed that the work function decreased drastically with depositing of KOx (x = 1 or 2), and the minimum work function values observed were 1.0 eV and 0.7 eV for pure p-Si(1 0 0) and Si nanoparticles coated substrates, respectively. The study demonstrates the formation of the surface species with minimum work function can be identified by XPS.  相似文献

TiO2 film of around 850 nm in thickness was deposited on a soda-lime glass by PVD sputtering and irradiated using one pulse of krypton-fluorine (KrF) excimer laser (wavelength of 248 nm and pulse duration of 25 ns) with varying fluence. The color of the irradiated area became darker with increasing laser fluence. Irradiated surfaces were characterized using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy. Surface undergoes thermal annealing at low laser fluence of 400 and 590 mJ/cm2. Microcracks at medium laser fluence of 1000 mJ/cm2 are attributed to surface melting and solidification. Hydrodynamic ablation is proposed to explain the formation of micropores and networks at higher laser fluence of 1100 and 1200 mJ/cm2. The darkening effect is explained in terms of trapping of light in the surface defects formed rather than anatase to rutile phase transformation as reported by others. Controlled darkening of TiO2 film might be used for adjustable filters.  相似文献

The corona-generated audible noise (AN) and radio noise (RN) of the long-term operating conductors with two bundle types was investigated and compared based on a corona cage measurement system. The surface morphologies of eight conductors were measured and the average surface roughness (Ra) was calculated. With the raise of conductor bundles, the maximum electric field distortion level (β4), the relative difference of ionization intensity (γ4) between long-term operating conductors and new conductors decreased. Adding the number of sub-conductors turned out to be an effective method to improve AN and RN of long-term operating conductors in the contaminated areas.  相似文献
