Determination of formal CR mappings by a finite jet

We prove that if M is a connected real-analytic holomorphically nondegenerate hypersurface in Cn+1, then for any point p∈M there exists an integer k such that any two germs at p of local biholomorphic mappings that send M into itself and whose k-jets agree at p are identical.The above is a special case of a more general theorem stated for formal hypersurfaces that gives a finite jet determination result for the class of formal mappings whose Jacobian determinant does not vanish identically.     

Boundary singularities for weak solutions of semilinear elliptic problems

Let Ω be a bounded domain in RN, N?2, with smooth boundary ∂Ω. We construct positive weak solutions of the problem Δu+up=0 in Ω, which vanish in a suitable trace sense on ∂Ω, but which are singular at prescribed isolated points if p is equal or slightly above . Similar constructions are carried out for solutions which are singular at any given embedded submanifold of ∂Ω of dimension k∈[0,N−2], if p equals or it is slightly above , and even on countable families of these objects, dense on a given closed set. The role of the exponent (first discovered by Brezis and Turner [H. Brezis, R. Turner, On a class of superlinear elliptic problems, Comm. Partial Differential Equations 2 (1977) 601-614]) for boundary regularity, parallels that of for interior singularities.     

Entropy solutions for a doubly nonlinear elliptic problem with variable exponent

We study the boundary value problem in Ω, u=0 on ∂Ω, where Ω is a smooth bounded domain in RN (N?3) and is a p(x)-Laplace type operator with p(.):Ω→[1,+∞) a measurable function and b a continuous and nondecreasing function from R→R. We prove the existence and uniqueness of an entropy solution for L¹-data f.     

The asymptotic behaviour of solutions with blow-up at the boundary for semilinear elliptic problems

By constructing the comparison functions and the perturbed method, it is showed that any solution u∈C²(Ω) to the semilinear elliptic problems Δu=k(x)g(u), x∈Ω, u_|∂Ω=+∞ satisfies , where Ω is a bounded domain with smooth boundary in RN; , −2<σ, c₀>0, ; g∈C¹[0,∞), g?0 and is increasing on (0,∞), there exists ρ>0 such that , ∀ξ>0, , .     

Nodal and positive solutions for singular semilinear elliptic equations with critical exponents in symmetric domains

In this paper, we consider the semilinear elliptic problem in Ω, u=0 on ∂Ω, where Ω is a smooth bounded domain in RN, N?4, , is the critical Sobolev exponent, K(x) is a continuous function. When Ω and K(x) are invariant under a group of orthogonal transformations, we prove the existence of nodal and positive solutions for 0<λ<λ₁, where λ₁ is the first Dirichlet eigenvalue of on Ω.     

Bubble towers for supercritical semilinear elliptic equations

We construct positive solutions of the semilinear elliptic problem with Dirichet boundary conditions, in a bounded smooth domain Ω⊂R^N(N?4), when the exponent p is supercritical and close enough to and the parameter λ∈R is small enough. As , the solutions have multiple blow up at finitely many points which are the critical points of a function whose definition involves Green's function. Our result extends the result of Del Pino et al. (J. Differential Equations 193(2) (2003) 280) when Ω is a ball and the solutions are radially symmetric.     

On a nonlinear elliptic eigenvalue problem

Let N(λ) be the number of the solutions of the equation: , where Ω is a bounded domain in with smooth boundary. Under suitable conditions on f, we proved that N(λ)→+∞ as λ→+∞.     

Liouville type theorems for p-harmonic maps

Let M be a complete Riemannian manifold and let N be a Riemannian manifold of non-positive sectional curvature. Assume that at all x∈M and at some point x₀∈M, where μ₀>0 is the least eigenvalue of the Laplacian acting on L²-functions on M. Let 2?q?p. Then any q-harmonic map of finite q-energy is constant. Moreover, if N is a Riemannian manifold of non-positive scalar curvature, then any q-harmonic morphism of finite q-energy is constant.     

Asymptotic behavior of the least energy solution of a problem with competing powers

We consider the problem ε²Δu−uq+up=0 in Ω, u>0 in Ω, u=0 on ∂Ω. Here Ω is a smooth bounded domain in RN, if N?3 and ε is a small positive parameter. We study the asymptotic behavior of the least energy solution as ε goes to zero in the case . We show that the limiting behavior is dominated by the singular solution ΔG−Gq=0 in Ω\{P}, G=0 on ∂Ω. The reduced energy is of nonlocal type.     

The asymptotic behaviour of the unique solution for the singular Lane-Emden-Fowler equation

By Karamata regular variation theory and constructing comparison functions, we show the exact asymptotic behaviour of the unique classical solution near the boundary to a singular Dirichlet problem −Δu=k(x)g(u), u>0, x∈Ω, u_|∂Ω=0, where Ω is a bounded domain with smooth boundary in RN; g∈C¹((0,∞),(0,∞)), , for each ξ>0, for some γ>0; and for some α∈(0,1), is nonnegative on Ω, which is also singular near the boundary.     

Solutions with spikes at the boundary for a 2D nonlinear Neumann problem with large exponent

We consider the elliptic equation −Δu+u=0 in a bounded, smooth domain Ω in R², subject to the nonlinear Neumann boundary condition . Here p>1 is a large parameter. We prove that given any integer m?1 there exist at least two families of solutions up developing exactly m peaks ξi∈∂Ω, in the sense that , as p→∞.     

All-derivable points in nest algebras

Suppose that A is an operator algebra on a Hilbert space H. An element V in A is called an all-derivable point of A for the strong operator topology if every strong operator topology continuous derivable mapping φ at V is a derivation. Let N be a complete nest on a complex and separable Hilbert space H. Suppose that M belongs to N with {0}≠M≠H and write for M or M^⊥. Our main result is: for any with , if is invertible in , then Ω is an all-derivable point in for the strong operator topology.     

The structure of analytic τ-sheaves

Let R be a complete discrete valuation -algebra whose residue field is algebraic over , and let K denote its fraction field. In this paper, we study the structure of τ-sheaves M without good reduction on the curve , seen as a rigid analytic space. One motivation is the Tate uniformization theorem for t-motives of Drinfeld modules, which we want to extend to general τ-sheaves. On the other hand, we are interested in the action of inertia on a generic Tate module T_?(M) of M.For a given τ-sheaf M on , we prove the existence of a maximal model for M on , an R-model of , and, over a finite separable extension R′ of R, of nondegenerate models for M.We prove the following ‘semistability’ theorem: there exists a finite extension K′ of K, a nonempty open subscheme C′⊂C, and a filtration
