In this study, computational fluid dynamics and the laminar flow of the non-Newtonian fluid have been numerically studied. The cooling fluid includes water and 0.5 wt% Carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC) making the non-Newtonian fluid. In order to make the best of non-Newtonian nanofluid in this simulation, solid nanoparticles of Aluminum Oxide have been added to the non-Newtonian fluid in volume fractions of 0–2% with diameters of 25, 45 and 100 nm. The supposed microchannel is rectangular and two-dimensional in Cartesian coordination. The power law has been used to speculate the dynamic viscosity of the cooling nanofluid. The field of numerical solution is simulated in the Reynolds number range of 5 < Re < 300. A constant heat flux of 10,000 W/m2 is exercised on the lower walls of the studied geometry. Further, the effect of triangular ribs with angle of attacks of 30°, 45° and 60° is studied on flow parameters and heat transfer due to the fluid flow. The results show that an increase in the volume fraction of nanoparticles as well as the use for nanoparticles with smaller diameters lead to greater heat transfer. Among all the studied forms, the triangular rib from with an angle of attack 30° has the biggest Nusselt number and the smallest pressure drop along the microchannel. Also, an increase in the angle of attack and as a result of a sudden contact between the fluid and the ribs and also a reduction in the coflowing length (length of the rib) cause a cut in heat transfer by the fluid in farther parts from the solid wall (tip of the rib).  相似文献

This study aimed at exploring influence of T-semi attached rib on the turbulent flow and heat transfer parameters of a silver-water nanofluid with different volume fractions in a three-dimensional trapezoidal microchannel. For this purpose, convection heat transfer of the silver-water nanofluid in a ribbed microchannel was numerically studied under a constant heat flux on upper and lower walls as well as isolated side walls. Calculations were done for a range of Reynolds numbers between 10,000 and 16,000, and in four different sorts of serrations with proportion of rib width to hole of serration width (R/W). The results of this research are presented as the coefficient of friction, Nusselt number, heat transfer coefficient and thermal efficiency, four different R/W microchannels. The results of numerical modeling showed that the fluid's convection heat transfer coefficient is increased as the Reynolds number and volume fraction of solid nanoparticle are increased. For R/W=0.5, it was also maximum for all the volume fractions of nanoparticle and different Reynolds numbers in comparison to other similar R/W situations. That's while friction coefficient, pressure drop and pumping power is maximum for serration with R/W=0 compared to other serration ratios which lead to decreased fluid-heat transfer performance.  相似文献

This paper reports a numerical analysis of the performance of a counter-flow rectangular shaped microchannel heat exchanger (MCHE) using nanofluids as the working fluids. Finite volume method was used to solve the three-dimensional steady, laminar developing flow and conjugate heat transfer in aluminum MCHE. The nanofluids used were Ag, Al2O3, CuO, SiO2, and TiO2 and the performance was compared with water. The thermal, flow fields and performance of the MCHE were analyzed using different nanofluids, different Reynolds numbers and different nanoparticle concentrations. Temperature profile, heat transfer coefficient, pressure profile, and wall shear stress were obtained from the simulations and the performance was discussed in terms of heat transfer rate, pumping power, effectiveness, and performance index. Results indicated enhanced performance with the usage of nanofluids, and slight penalty in pressure drop. The increase in Reynolds number caused an increase in the heat transfer rate and a decrease in the overall bulk temperature of the cold fluid. The increase in nanoparticle concentration also yielded better performance at the expense of increased pressure drop.  相似文献

The paper aims to investigate the unsteady natural convection flow and heat transfer of fractional Maxwell viscoelastic nanofluid in magnetic field over a vertical plate. The effect of nanoparticle shape is first introduced to the study of fractional Maxwell viscoelastic nanofluid. Fractional shear stress and Cattaneo heat flux model are applied to construct the governing boundary layer equations of momentum and energy, which are solved numerically. The quantities of physical interest are graphically presented and discussed in detail. It is found that particle shape and fractional derivative parameters have profound influence on the flow and heat transfer.  相似文献

Nanofluid flow and heat transfer composed of water-silver nanoparticles is investigated numerically inside a microchannel. Finite volume approach (FVM) is applied and the effects of gravity are ignored. The whole length of Microchannel is considered in three sections as l1=l3=0.151 and l2=0.71. The linear variable heat flux affects the microchannel wall in the length of l2 while a magnetic field with strength of B0 is considered over the whole domain of it. The influences of different values of Hartmann number (Ha=0, 10, 20), volume fraction of the nanoparticles (ɸ=0, 0.02, 0.04) and Reynolds number (Re=10, 50, 200) on the hydrodynamic and thermal properties of flow are reported. The investigation of slip velocity variations under the effects of a magnetic field are presented for the first time (to the best knowledge of author) while the non-dimensional slip coefficient are selected as B=0.01, 0.05, 0.1 at different states.  相似文献

In this paper, heat transfer characteristics of a miniature heat sink cooled by SiO2–water nanofluids were investigated both experimentally and numerically. The heat sink was fabricated from aluminum and insulated by plexiglass cover plates. The heat sink consisted of an array of 4 mm diameter circular channels with a length of 40 mm. Tests were performed while inserting a 180 W/cm2 heat flux to the bottom of heat sink and Reynolds numbers ranged from 400 to 2000. The three-dimensional heat transfer characteristics of the heat sink were analyzed numerically by solving conjugate heat transfer problem of thermally and hydrodynamically developing fluid flow. Experimental results showed that dispersing SiO2 nanoparticles in water significantly increased the overall heat transfer coefficient while thermal resistance of heat sink was decreased up to 10%. Numerical results revealed that channel diameter, as well as heat sink height and number of channels in a heat sink have significant effects on the maximum temperature of heat sink. Finally, an artificial neural network (ANN) was used to simulate the heat sink performance based on these parameters. It was found that the results of ANN are in excellent agreement with the mathematical simulation and cover a wider range for evaluation of heat sink performance.  相似文献

In this article, the unsteady magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) stagnation point flow and heat transfer of a nanofluid over a stretching/shrinking sheet is investigated numerically. The similarity solution is used to reduce the governing system of partial differential equations to a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations which are then solved numerically using the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method with shooting technique. The ambient fluid velocity, stretching/shrinking velocity of sheet, and the wall temperature are assumed to vary linearly with the distance from the stagnation point. To investigate the influence of various pertinent parameters, graphical results for the local Nusselt number, the skin friction coefficient, velocity profile, and temperature profile are presented for different values of the governing parameters for three types of nanoparticles, namely copper, alumina, and titania in the water-based fluid. It is found that the dual solution exists for the decelerating flow. Numerical results show that the extent of the dual solution domain increases with the increases of velocity ratio, magnetic parameter, and permeability parameter whereas it remains constant as the value of solid volume fraction of nanoparticles changes. Also, it is found that permeability parameter has a greater effect on the flow and heat transfer of a nanofluid than the magnetic parameter.  相似文献

Heat transfer and flow characteristics of Cu/water nanofluids' flow in the serpentine microtubes are investigated experimentally. The serpentine microtubes are fabricated by bending a straight copper microtube with an inner diameter of 787 μm. Also, the Cu/water nanofluids are prepared using a novel one-step technique, namely electro-exploded wire. The effects of serpentine microtubes' geometrical parameters (pitch spacing, p, and straight section, l) and nanofluid concentration (weight fraction, φ) are examined. It is found that the heat transfer enhances by decreasing both the pitch spacing and the straight section of the serpentine microtube as well as increasing the weight fraction of the nanofluid. Also, the results show that the friction factor tends to increase in the same manner. A noticeable average enhancement in the thermal performance factor of 21.8% is obtained for a specific operating condition, i.e., the nanofluid at φ = 0.3% through the serpentine microtube with p = 9.6 mm and l = 10 mm. Finally, two correlations of Nusselt number and friction factor for the Cu/water nanofluids across the serpentine microtubes are proposed.

Nanofluids are embryonic as auspicious thermo liquids for application of heat transfer which have been scrutinized precisely, in current eons. Thermo-physical properties of these liquids have noteworthy stimulus on their heat transfer features. The manifestation of dense nanoparticles in the base liquid ominously intensifies the effective liquid thermal conductivity and therefore heightens the features of heat transfer. The highest attention of this exertion is to investigate the features of nanoparticles mass flux conditions and non-uniform heat sink/source on magnetite Oldroyd-B nanofluid. Additionally, heat convective and thermal radiation mechanisms are considered. Homotopic approach has been established for the solution of non-linear structures. The upshots elucidate that the Brownian and thermophrosis nanoparticles exaggerate the temperature field, however analogous tendency is being noted for thermal radiation and non-uniform heat sink/source parameters. This exertion also investigated that the concentration of Oldroyd-B nanofluid decline for curvature parameter and augment for thermophrosis parameter. In addition, for the endorsement of up-to-date derived clarifications a comparison table of skin friction coefficient is organized in limiting circumstances.  相似文献

Liquid crystal thermography and pressure drop measurements have been carried out to study the heat transfer and frictional characteristics in a rectangular duct with solid ribs (C1), converging slit-ribs (C2), and alternate solid-slit ribs (C3) mounted transversely on the bottom wall, where C2 carries a continuous converging-slit in the flow direction. Effect of rib configurations, and rib pitch to height ratios (6, 8, 10, and 12) has been investigated at Re of 9400, 26160, 42500, and 58850. Results show that converging-slit considerably enhances the heat transfer rate in the downstream vicinity, and help in obviating the local hot spot formation.

Nanofluids are forthcoming new generation heat transfer fluids, which have been scrutinized precisely, in current years. Thermophysical assets of these fluids have noteworthy impact on their heat transfer features. In this current investigation a mathematical relation for two dimensional (2D) flow of magnetite Maxwell nanofluid influenced by a stretched cylinder is established. To visualize the stimulus of Brownian moment and thermophoresis phenomena on Maxwell fluid Buongiorno's relation has been considered. Moreover, heat sink/source and convective condition are also presented for heat transport mechanism. The homotopic scheme has been developed for the solutions of nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs). The achieved outcomes are planned and consulted in aspects for somatic parameters. It is noteworthy that the velocity of Maxwell fluid display conflicting performance for curvature parameter and Deborah number. It is also reported that the liquid velocity decays for magnetic parameter, whereas the nanoliquid temperature and concentration field enhance for magnetic parameter. Furthermore, the liquid temperature intensifies for the progressive values of thermophoresis parameter and Brownian motion. Additionally, endorsement of current significances is organized via benchmarking with earlier famous limiting situations and we pledge a marvelous communication with these outcomes.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to investigate numerically the boundary layer forced convection flow of a Casson fluid past a symmetric porous wedge. Similarity transformations are used to convert the governing partial differential equations into ordinary ones. With the help of the shooting method, the reduced equations are then solved numerically. Comparisons are made with the previously published results in some special cases and they are found to be in excellent agreement with each other. The results obtained in this study are illustrated graphically and discussed in detail. The velocity is found to increase with an increasing Falkner-Skan exponent whereas the temperature decreases. With the rise of the Casson fluid parameter, the fluid velocity increases but the temperature is found to decrease in this case. Fluid velocity is suppressed with the increase of suction. The skin friction decreases with the increasing value of Casson fluid parameter. It is found that the temperature decreases as the Prandtl number increases and thermal boundary layer thickness decreases with the increasing value of Prandtl number. A significant finding of this investigation is that flow separation can be controlled by increasing the value of the Casson fluid parameter as well as by increasing the amount of suction.  相似文献

Hydrothermal behavior of nanofluid fluid between two parallel plates is studied. One of the plates is externally heated, and the other plate, through which coolant fluid is injected, expands or contracts with time. The effective thermal conductivity and viscosity of nanofluid are calculated by KKL correlation. The effects of the nanoparticle volume fraction, Reynolds number, Expansion ratio and power law index on Hydrothermal behavior are investigated. Results show that heat transfer enhancement has direct relationship with Reynolds number when power law index is equals to zero but opposite trend is observed for other values of power law index.  相似文献

The water/graphene oxide nanofluid effect in a pipe equipped by twisted tape inserts under air cross-flow is investigated and the optimal tape geometry is determined. The range of internal and external Reynolds numbers are: 3800<Reo<21500 and 550<Rei<2000. Heat transfer and pressure drop increase by increasing Re and inserts width and heat transfer performance coefficient increased up to 1.4, indicating enhanced heat transfer compared to undesirable pressure drop. On the other hand, the heat transfer coefficient is 26% higher when compared with water in a plain tube. According to the results, this method is a good alternative in heat exchangers.  相似文献

A computational research was performed to analyze the electrohydrodynamic (EHD) convective heat transfer in a differentially heated dielectric-MWCNT nanofluid layer. The study was conducted on a square enclosure subjected to a temperature gradient between these two vertical walls as well as a potential difference between these horizontal walls. The enclosure was filled with MWCNT oil-based nanofluid; the MWCNT nanoparticles were dispersed in a perfectly insulating thermal oil with a volume fraction of hardly exceeded 0.4%. The governing equations were derived with the assumption of homogeneous nanofluid and were solved with employing finite volume method. Based on the obtained results, it was found that the increase of Rayleigh number, electric Rayleigh number and nanoparticle concentration enhanced the heat transfer. For high thermal and electric Rayleigh number values, the flow and heat transfer became time dependent and accordingly a frequency study was also performed. It was found that the inclusion of an electric field with the addition of nanoparticles led to a significant heat transfer enhancement of about 43%.  相似文献

Here a novel applications of entropy generation optimization is presented for nonlinear Sisko nanomaterial flow by rotating stretchable disk. Flow is examined in the absence of magnetohydrodynamics and Joule heating. Total irreversibility rate (entropy generation rate) is investigated for different flow parameters. Heat source/sink and viscous dissipation effects are considered. Impacts of Brownian motion and thermophoresis on irreversibility have been analyzed. Governing flow equations comprise momentum, energy and nanoparticle concentration. Von Karman's similarity variables are implemented for reduction of PDEs into ODEs. Homotopy analysis technique for series solutions is implemented. Attention is given to the irreversibility. The impacts of different flow parameters on velocity, nanoparticle concentration, temperature and irreversibility rate are graphically presented. From obtained results it is examined that irreversibility rate enhances for larger estimation of Brinkman number and diffusion. Furthermore it is also examined that temperature and nanoparticle concentration show contrast behavior through Prandtl number and Brownian motion.  相似文献

In this presentation, the flow and heat transfer inside a microchannel with a triangular section, have been numerically simulated. In this three-dimensional simulation, the flow has been considered turbulent. In order to increase the heat transfer of the channel walls, the semi-truncated and semi-attached ribs have been placed inside the channel and the effect of forms and numbers of ribs has been studied. In this research, the base fluid is Water and the effect of volume fraction of Al2O3 nanoparticles on the amount of heat transfer and physics of flow have been investigated. The presented results are including of the distribution of Nusselt number in the channel, friction coefficient and Performance Evaluation Criterion of each different arrangement. The results indicate that, the ribs affect the physics of flow and their influence is absolutely related to Reynolds number of flow. Also, the investigation of the used semi-truncated and semi-attached ribs in Reynolds number indicates that, although heat transfer increases, but more pressure drop arises. Therefore, in this method, in order to improve the heat transfer from the walls of microchannel on the constant heat flux, using the pump is demanded.  相似文献
