This article examines two-point boundary value problems (BVPs) for second-order, singular ordinary differential equations where the right-hand-side of the differential equation may depend on the derivative of the solution. We introduce a method to obtain a priori bounds on all potential solutions, including their “derivatives”, to the singular BVP under consideration. The approach is based on the application of differential inequalities of singular type. The ideas are then applied to yield new existence results for solutions.  相似文献

In this paper the linear theory of steady vibrations of thermoelasticity with microtemperatures for isotropic solids with microstructure is considered. The uniqueness and existence theorems of solutions of the internal and external second boundary value problems (BVPs) by means of the boundary integral method (potential method) and the theory of singular integral equations are proved. This paper deals with the relationship between solutions of Dirichlet boundary value problems (BVPs) for second order systems of differential inclusions with upper semicontinuous right-hand sides and associated numerical discrete Dirichlet BVPs of second order difference inclusions. First, the existence and estimate of solutions to the discrete BVP is discussed uniformly with respect to the discrete step size. Then convergence of solutions of the numerical discrete BVP and the corresponding semicontinous BVP is studied. Related results are also mentioned which motivated our study of this problem.  相似文献

Here we discuss three-dimensional so-called basic and mixed boundary value problems (BVP) for steady state oscillations of piecewise homogeneous anisotropic bodies imbedded into an infinite elastic continuum. Uniqueness is shown with the help of generalized Sommerfeld–Kupradze radiation conditions, while existence follows for arbitrary values of the oscillation parameter by the reduction of the original interface transmission BVPs to equivalent uniquely solvable boundary integral or pseudodifferential equations on the interfaces. For the basic BVPs, we show classical regularity and, in addition for the mixed BVPs that the solutions are Hölder continuous with exponent α ∈ (0, 1/2) in the neighbourhood of the curves of discontinuity of the boundary and transmission conditions.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with a nonhomogeneous multipoint boundary-value problem (BVP) of a second-order differential equation with one-dimensional p-Laplacian. Using multiple fixed-point theorems, new sufficient conditions to guarantee the existence of at least three solutions of this BVP are established. An example is presented to illustrate the main results. The first emphasis of this paper is to show that the approach to get three positive solutions of a BVP by using multiple fixed-point theorems can be extended to treat nonhomogeneous BVPs. The second emphasis is put on the nonlinear term f involved with the first-order delta operator.  相似文献

We consider a boundary value problem (BVP) for systems of second-order dynamic equations on time scales. Using methods involving dynamic inequalities, we formulate conditions under which all solutions to a certain family of systems of dynamic equations satisfy certain a priori bounds. These results are then applied to guarantee the existence of solutions to BVPs for systems of dynamic equations on time scales.  相似文献

By constructing a special cone and applying the fixed point theorem of cone compression and expansion, this paper investigates the existence of positive solutions for a class of first order singular boundary value problem (BVP, for short) on unbounded domains. This paper is concerned with the solvability of an n-point nonhomogeneous boundary value problem (BVP) in Banach spaces. By using the fixed point theorem of strict-set-contractions, some sufficient conditions for the existence of at least one or two positive solutions to the n-point nonhomogeneous BVP in Banach spaces are obtained. This paper presents an upper and lower solution theory for singular boundary value problems modelling the Thomas–Fermi equation, subject to a boundary condition corresponding to the neutral atom with Bohr radius equal to its existence interval. Boundary value problems (BVPs) for partial differential equations are common in mathematical physics. The differential equation is often considered in simple and symmetric regions, such as a circle, cube, cylinder, etc., with global and separable boundary conditions. In this paper and other works of the authors, a general method is used for the investigation of BVPs which is more powerful than existing methods, so that BVPs investigated by the method can be considered in anti-symmetric and arbitrary regions surrounded by smooth curves and surfaces. Moreover boundary conditions can be local, non-local and global. The BVP is expanded in a convex and bounded region D in a plane. First, by generalized solution of the adjoint of the Poisson equation, the necessary boundary conditions are obtained. The BVP is then reduced to the second kind of Fredholm integral equation with regularized singularities.  相似文献

This article deals with a discrete type multi-point BVP of difference equations. The sufficient conditions to guarantee the existence of at least three positive solutions are established. An example is presented to illustrate the main results. It is the purpose of this paper to show that the approach to get positive solutions of BVPs by using multifixed-point theorems can be extended to treat nonhomogeneous BVPs. Based on Adomian decomposition method, a new algorithm for solving boundary value problem (BVP) of nonlinear partial differential equations on the rectangular area is proposed. The solutions obtained by the method precisely satisfy all boundary conditions, except the small pieces near the four corners of the rectangular area. A theorem on the boundary error is given. Hence, the Adomian decomposition method is more efficiently applied to BVPs for partial differential equations. Segmented and weighted analytical solutions with a high accuracy for the BVP of nonlinear groundwater equations on a rectangular area are obtained by the present algorithm. For a second-order nonlinear ordinary differential equation (ODE), a singular Boundary value problem (BVP) is investigated which arises in hydromechanics and nonlinear field theory when static centrally symmetric bubble-type (droplet-type) solutions are sought. The equation, defined on a semi-infinite interval 0 < r < ∞, possesses a regular singular point as r→ 0 and an irregular one as r→ ∞. We give the restrictions to the parameters for a correct mathematical statement of the limit boundary conditions in singular points and their accurate transfer into the neighborhoods of these points using certain results for singular Cauchy problems and stable initial manifolds. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of bubble-type (droplet-type) solutions are discussed (in the form of additional restrictions to the parameters) and some estimates are obtained. A priori detailed analysis of a singular nonlinear BVP leads to efficient shooting methods for solving it approximately. Some results of the numerical experiments are displayed and their physical interpretation is discussed. This article was submitted by the author in English.  相似文献
