A kinematically complete experiment has been performed to study the α-n final-state interaction (FSI) in the α + d ↦α + p + n break-up reaction at 50 MeV incident energy for the alpha-particles. For this, we have chosen four pairs of correlation angles for the outgoing alpha and protons. These are ( θα = 18°, θp = 42°), ( θα = 20°, θp = 45°), ( θα = 22°, θp = 42°) and ( θα = 22°, θp = 47°), selected kinematically where the allowed phase spaces are in favor of the α-n final-state interaction. Our experimental data show strong α-n FSI in all the selected configurations. Also, the FSI is found to be stronger at the lower alpha-particle energy when two FSI peaks appear in the same configuration. It is shown that the differential cross sections of the reactions ddn 3He and ddp 3H measured at a c.m.s. scattering angle θcm = 60° in the interval of the deuteron beam energy 0.5–1.2 GeV demonstrate the scaling behavior dσ/dts −22, which follows from constituent quark counting rules. It is found also that the differential cross section of the elastic dpdp scattering at θcm = 125°–135° follows the scaling regime ∼s −16 at beam energies 0.5–5 GeV. The results obtained by analyzing arrival directions of primary cosmic-ray particles recorded by the Yakutsk array between 1974 and 2009 in the energy region E 0 ≥ 1019 eV and the zenith-angle range θ ≤ 60° are presented. Abstact: The elastic scattering cross sections, σ (E,θ), for the systems He+Ta and He+W have been measured at θlab=165° and E lab=76.1 keV to 3.988 MeV using targets with a thickness of a few atomic layers. The results are smaller than the results given by the Rutherford scattering law, σR(E,θ), due to the effects of electron screening and can be described by σ(E,θ)/σR(E,θ)=(1+Ue/E)−1, where U e is an atomic screening potential energy. The deduced average value, U e=28 ± 3 keV, is consistent with the Moliére- and Lenz-Jensen-models as well as electron binding energies. Received: 25 May 1998  相似文献

It is shown that an analysis of energy loss spectra of electrons scattered at θ=90° in the vapor of polyatomic organic molecules allows determination of the first ionization potentials. Thus, for pyrene, perylene, and POPOP molecules they are 7.7, 7.2, and 8.7 eV, respectively. It is found that the first ionization potentials measured depend considerably on the thermal distribution of the free molecules. The first results are obtained in a kinematically complete experiment devoted to measuring the n + dp + n + n reaction yield at energies in the range E n = 40−60 MeV and various angles of divergence of two neutrons (Δθ = 4°, 6°, and 8°) in the geometry of neutron-neutron final-state interaction. The 1 S 0 neutron-neutron scattering length a nn is determined by comparing the experimental energy dependence of the reaction yield with the results of a simulation in the Watson-Migdal approximation, which depend on a nn . For E n = 40 MeV and Δθ = 6° (the best statistics in the experiment), the value a nn = −17.9 ± 1.0 fm was obtained. A further improvement of the experimental accuracy will make it possible to remove the existing disagreement of the results from different experiments.  相似文献

We have studied multiple regressions between the spectral aerosol extinction coefficient ε, backscatter indicatrix gπ, and light-scattering coefficients βθ at angles of θ = 1–180°, which we used to select the optimal scattering angle for determining the extinction coefficient at the wavelengths 0.350, 0.532, and 1.060 μm. We have estimated the errors in determination of the values of ε and gπ at the given wavelengths for different atmospheric situations with different meteorological parameters. We have shown that it is possible to use the spectral βθ values at a 33° angle to determine the reference values for ε(λ) and gπ(λ) at λ = 0.350, 0.532, and 1.060 μm in laser detection and ranging (lidar) measurements, and we give examples of recovering the vertical profiles of ε in a slightly turbid atmosphere from the results of simultaneous multiwavelength lidar and nephelometric measurements. __________ Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Spektroskopii, Vol. 74, No. 6, pp. 767–772, November–December, 2007.  相似文献

The dielectron widths of Y(nS)(n = 1, …, 7) and vector decay constants are calculated using the relativistic string Hamiltonian with a universal interaction. For Y(nS) (n = 1, 2, 3) the dielectron widths and their ratios are obtained in full agreement with the latest CLEO data. For Y(10580) and Y(11020) a good agreement with experiment is reached only if the 4S-3D mixing (with a mixing angle θ = 27°± 4°) and 6S-5D mixing (with θ = 40°±5°) are taken into account. The possibility to observe higher “mixed D-wave” resonances, $ \tilde \Upsilon $ \tilde \Upsilon (n 3 D 1) with n = 3, 4, 5 is discussed. In particular, $ \tilde \Upsilon $ \tilde \Upsilon (≈11120), originating from the pure 53 D 1 state, can acquire a rather large dielectron width, ∼130 eV, so that this resonance may become manifest in the e + e experiments. On the contrary, the widths of pure D-wave states are very small, Γ ee (n 3 D 1)≤ 2 eV.  相似文献

The energy and angular distributions of backscattered electrons produced under the impact of 5 keV electrons with thick Al, Ti, Ag, W and Pt targets are measured. The energy range of backscattered electrons is considered between E B = 50 eV and 5000 eV. The angle of incidence α and take-off angle θ are chosen to have values α = 0 and 10 and θ = 100, 110 and 120 respectively. The measured energy spectra are compared with the available theoretical models for α = 0 and 10. The elastic peak intensity of backscattered electrons is found to be a function of angle of incidence, take-off angle and atomic number of the target material. The considered theories are reasonably in good agreement with experiment for the energy spectra of the backscattered electrons having their reduced energies (= E B/E 0) in the range of 0.20 to 1.00.   相似文献

Using polarization-modulated ellipsometry to monitor adsorbate coverage in-situ, we studied the activated adsorption of filament-heated molecular hydrogen on Cu(111) and subsequent isothermal desorption of hydrogen adatoms. The adsorption is characterized by a zeroth-order kinetic with a constant sticking probability of S0=0.0062 up to θ=0.25, followed by a Langmuir kinetic until the saturation coverage θs=0.5 is reached. The desorption follows a second-order kinetic with an activation energy of 0.63 eV and a pre-exponential factor of 1×109 /s. A pre-adsorbed monolayer of Xe atoms on Cu(111), with a desorption activation energy of 0.25 eV and a pre-exponential factor of 8×1014 /s, efficiently blocks the subsequent adsorption of hot molecular hydrogen, making physisorbedXe useful as templates for spatial patterning of hydrogen adatom density on Cu(111). Strong demand exists for an experimental facility enabling new experimental investigations on condensed matter systems based on epithermal neutron scattering at high energy and low momentum transfers. This need will be met by the very low angle detector (VLAD) bank, to be installed on the VESUVIO spectrometer at the ISIS spallation neutron source. The equipment will operate in the scattering angular range 1°<2θ<5°. Scattering measurements from a polycrystalline ice sample using a VLAD prototype demonstrates the effectiveness of the detection technique adopted for the construction of the full detector array. Coulomb deexcitation differential cross sections of excited muonic hydrogen in collisions with the hydrogen atom are studied for the first time. In the fully quantum-mechanical close-coupling approach, both the differential cross sections for the nln′l′ transitions and l-averaged differential cross sections have been calculated for the initial exotic atom states with n = 2–6 at kinetic energies of E cm = 0.01–15 eV and for scattering angles of ϑcm = 0°–180°. The vacuum polarization shifts of the ns states are taken into account. The differential cross sections of the elastic and Stark scattering obtained in the same approach are also presented. The main features of the calculated differential cross sections are discussed, and a strong anisotropy of Coulomb deexcitation cross sections is predicted. The A4 Collaboration at the MAMI accelerator in Mainz measures the parity-violating asymmetry in the cross-section of elastic scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons off unpolarized protons from which the contribution of strange sea quarks to the vector form factors of the proton can be derived. Measurements at forward angles 30° ⩽ θ ⩽ 40° and two different momentum transfers Q2 of 0.23 (GeV/c)2 and 0.11 (GeV/c)2 have been performed in the past. Measurements at backward angles 140° ⩽ θ ⩽ 150° are underway for a separate determination of the strange electric and the strange magnetic form factor at Q 2 = 0.23(GeV/c)2 .  相似文献

A second-order perturbation theory, developed for calculating the energy levels of the He-CO binary complex, is applied to small He N -CO clusters with N = 2−4, the helium atoms being considered as a single bound object. The interaction potential between the CO molecule and HeN is represented as a linear expansion in Legendre polynomials, in which the free rotation limit is chosen as the zero approximation and the angular dependence of the interaction is considered as a small perturbation. By fitting calculated rotational transitions to experimental values it was possible to determine the optimal parameters of the potential and to achieve good agreement (to within less than 1%) between calculated and experimental energy levels. As a result, the shape of the angular anisotropy of the interaction potential is obtained for various clusters. It turns out that the minimum of the potential energy is smoothly shifted from an angle between the axes of the CO molecule and the cluster of θ = 100° in He-CO to θ = 180° (the oxygen end) in He3-CO and He4-CO clusters. Under the assumption that the distribution of helium atoms with respect to the cluster axis is cylindrically symmetric, the structure of the cluster can be represented as a pyramid with the CO molecule at the vertex.  相似文献

The electro-optical properties of the films are studied by measuring the infrared optical absorption and the yield of hole photoemission across the Schottky barrier to the p-Si substrate. The Schottky barrier height of the amorphous a-IrSi to the valence band of Si is 0.17–0.18 eV. The barrier height of the polycrystalline c-IrSi depends on the degree of texturing of the silicide; the Schottky barrier height increases from 0.14 eV to 0.18 eV when the substrate temperature is increased from room temperature to 400 °C during the Ir metal deposition prior to the 500 °C silicidation. The non-linearity of the photoemission yield observed for the amorphous a-IrSi in the Fowler plot is due to an energy-dependent photon absorption of these amorphous films. An evaluation of the scattering events in the metal films shows that the mean free path for inelastic scattering is λin=500 nm in the amorphous a-IrSi which is one order of magnitude larger than that in the crystalline c-IrSi. The mean free path for quasi-elastic scattering λqe=0.3 nm, of the amorphous a-IrSi is in the order of the interatomic distance, indicating a localization of the electronic states. We have developed a new method for measuring tilt bias angles in spatially uniform and nonuniform thin films of nematic liquid crystals. The method employs modulation ellipsometry, based on the use of an exponentially decaying light wave to probe the boundary layer. Oscillations of the director of the liquid crystal, which are induced by the flexoelectric torque, are excited with an external periodic field. A periodic variation of the ellipticity of the light wave reflected from the interface is detected at both the first and second harmonics of the exciting electric field. When these two Fourier components of the electrooptic response are known, it is possible to calculate both the tilt bias angle θ0 of the director and the dynamic deviation δ0 of the tilt bias angle. The angles θ0 and δ0 measured by this method on the surface of an electrode (ITO) and on the surface of a ferroelectric film (a copolymer of vinylidene fluoride and trifluoroethylene), oriented in a corona discharge, were equal to θ 0=5.1°, δθ=0.5° and θ0=89°, δθ=0.06°, respectively. In polarized low energy electron diffraction (PLEED) from W(100) at energies of 2 to 9 eV and incident angles 15°< θ < 45°, we observe a spin-splitting of the resonance sequence of peaks which converge on the (01) beam threshold. For θ>26° the peak splitting to peak width ratio is approximately constant while for decreasing θ≤26° it increases. An anomalous spin-up-only peak appears at small θ. The nature of the spin dependent splitting is discussed within the four-beam layer multiple scattering approximation.  相似文献
