A precursor 9 of isosarcophytol-A(1)was prepared from(■)-farnesol(3)through 6 steps.Isosarcophytol-A(1),a cembrane-type diterpenoid,was first isolated fromustralian soft coral(Nephthea brassica)in 1982,and its structure was estab-shed as(1,3,7,11-all ■,13■)-cembra-1,3,7,11-tetraen-13-ol,an isomer ofarcophytol-A■.As far as we know,its bioactivity and synthesis have noteen reported yet.

SYNTHESIS OF SULFOXIDES AND THEIR STRUCTURE-REACTIVITY STUDIES ON THE LANTHANIDE EXTRACTION

Modified methods for the synthesis of various sulfoxides with isomeric octyl groups, i.e.dioetyl sulfoxides, bis (octylsulfenyl) methane and bis (octylsulfenyl) ethane are described. Theextraction behaviours of these sulfoxides for lanthanides from nitric acid system are studiedand discussed on the basis of their chemical structures. The composition and the structureof the extracted species are deduced by method of continuous variation as well as by ele-mental and thermo-gravimetric analysis. As shown by infrared spectroseopic studies thesulfenyl oxygen acts as coordinating atom and the NO_3 serves as bidentate.

STUDIES ON THE LOW-TEMPERATURE SYNTHESIS OF METHANOL BY CARBONYLATION AND HYDROGENOLYSIS

The present process may be less energy intensive compared withthe existing processes.A proprietary amide aleohol additive can markedly in-hibit the deactivation of CH_3ONa catalyst for methanol carbonylation.Thespace-time yield(STY)of the methyl formate(MF)is 625g·1 ~1h ~1after 40htime on stream with theadditive,while the yield is only 190g·1 ~1h ~1without the additive at the same reaction conditions.By using four types of tubu-lar reactors without any mechanico-rotary parts and hige speed circulation ofthe reactants for the carbonylation at P_(CO)=5MPa,a 95% single pass conversion of CO and 645g·1 ~1h ~1of STY of MF were obtained.A novel Cu-ZnO/Al_2O_3 catalyst for MF hydrogenolysis to methanol is reported in this pa-per.The Cu-ZnO/Al_2O_3 catalyst is characterized by the resistance to poison-ing of high concentration CO up to 16.2v%.

STUDIES ON STRUCTURE AND SYNTHESIS OF ARTEANNUIN AND ITS RELATED COMPOUND Ⅴ——THE TOTAL SYNTHESIS OF ISODEOXYARTEANNUIN

The total synthesis of isodeoxyarteannuin 3 was achieved starting from norsesquiterpenoid lactone 5 which was obtained from 10-R( )-citronellal 4. The synthetic route is Summarized in Fig. 1.     

THE EFFECT OF IRRADIATION ON THE POLYETHERKETONE WITH CARDO GROUP

The effects of irradiation on the polyetherketone with cardo group (PEK-C) were studied. It was found that PEK-C can be crosslinked by irradiation under vacuum, while degradation reaction occurred in PEK-C at room temperature in the presence of air. Moreover. it was also found that Ts value of the crosslinked PEK-C at high temperature is higher than that at room temperature in the case of the same gel content, whose value is about 8℃higher than that of unirradiated PEK-C. The gelation dose of PEK-C at 300℃under vacuum is 1.5×10~4 Gy, which is about hundred times smaller than that at room temperature.

NMR STUDIES ON THE WEAK INTERACTION OF FOUR-MONONUCLEOTIDES WITH TRYPTAMIDE AND LEUCINAMIDE

NMR spectroscopy analysis was introduced to investigate the weak interaction of four 5'—mononucleotides with tryptamide and leucinamide. Assuming a 1∶1 complex formation, the association constants were determined by nonlinear regression analysis. The association affinity of 4 mononucleotides with tryptamide decreased in the order: G>A>C>U, indicating that purine bases stack more strongly with tryptamide than pyrimidine bases. But with leucinamide the affinity decreases in the order: G>C>A=U, suggesting an amino acid—anticodonic preferential interaction. The implication of the present data to the origin of genetic code was briefly discussed.     

THE SYNTHESIS AND STUDIES ON PALLADIUM CATALYSTS ANCHORED ON CHELATE RESIN

A chelate resin with 8-aminoquinoline group attached to a styrene-divinybenzene copolymer matrix was reacted with PdCl_2, forminga polymeric palladium complex, which was reduced with different reducing agents, such as hydrogen, stannous chloride, sodium borohydride, lithium aluminum hydride, hydrazine and basic aqueous methanolic solution and thus the polymer-supported palladium (Ⅱ) complex, colloidal palladium and palladium complex with different valence states were obtained. The hydrogenation of n-hexene in methanol at 40℃ under atmospheric hydrogen pressure and the selective hydrogenation of 1,5,9-cyclododecatriene at 100℃ under 20 kg/cm~2 hydrogen pressure were studied. The results showed that the palladium complexes With different valence states prepared with hydrazine or methanol-water (pH=11) were effective catalysts for the hydrogenation of olefins.
