Let S be a foundation locally compact topological semigroup, and let M a (S) be the space of all measures μM(S) for which the maps x?|μ|?δ x and x?|μ|?δ x from S into M(S) are weakly continuous. The purpose of this article is to develop a notion of character amenability for semigroup algebras. The main results concern the χ-amenability of M a (S). We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a left χ-mean on M a (S)?.  相似文献

We study the character amenability of semigroup algebras. We work on general semigroups and certain semigroups such as inverse semigroups with a finite number of idempotents, inverse semigroups with uniformly locally finite idempotent set, Brandt and Rees semigroup and study the character amenability of the semigroup algebra l1(S) in relation to the structures of the semigroup S. In particular, we show that for any semigroup S, if ?1(S) is character amenable, then S is amenable and regular. We also show that the left character amenability of the semigroup algebra ?1(S) on a Brandt semigroup S over a group G with index set J is equivalent to the amenability of G and J being finite. Finally, we show that for a Rees semigroup S with a zero over the group G, the left character amenability of ?1(S) is equivalent to its amenability, this is in turn equivalent to G being amenable.  相似文献

In this paper we compare the notions of super amenability and super module amenability of Banach algebras, which are Banach modules over another Banach algebra with compatible actions. We find conditions for the two notions to be equivalent. In particular, we study arbitrary module actions of l 1(E S ) on l 1(S) for an inverse semigroup S with the set of idempotents E S and show that under certain conditions, l 1(S) is super module amenable if and only if S is finite. We also study the super module amenability of l 1(S)?? and module biprojectivity of l 1(S), for arbitrary actions.  相似文献

In this article, the approximate amenability of semigroup algebra ?1(S) is investigated, where (S) is a uniformly locally finite inverse semigroup. Indeed, we show that for a uniformly locally finite inverse semigroup (S), the notions of amenability, approximate amenability and bounded approximate amenability of ?1(S) are equivalent. We use this to give a direct proof of the approximate amenability of ?1(S) for a Brandt semigroup (S). Moreover, we characterize the approximate amenability of ?1(S), where S is a uniformly locally finite band semigroup.  相似文献

We prove the pseudovariety generated by power semigroups of completely simple semigroups is the semidirect product of the pseudovariety of block groups with the pseudovariety of right zero semigroups, and hence is decidable. This answers a question of Almeida from over 15 years ago. The author was supported in part by NSERC.  相似文献

A note on sensitivity of semigroup actions   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
It is well known that for a transitive dynamical system (X,f) sensitivity to initial conditions follows from the assumption that the periodic points are dense. This was done by several authors: Banks, Brooks, Cairns, Davis and Stacey (Am. Math. Mon. 99, 332–334, 1992), Silverman (Rocky Mt. J. Math. 22, 353–375, 1992) and Glasner and Weiss (Nonlinearity 6, 1067–1075, 1993). In the latter article Glasner and Weiss established a stronger result (for compact metric systems) which implies that a transitive non-minimal compact metric system (X,f) with dense set of almost periodic points is sensitive. This is true also for group actions as was proved in the book of Glasner (Ergodic Theory via Joinings, 2003). Our aim is to generalize these results in the frame of a unified approach for a wide class of topological semigroup actions including one-parameter semigroup actions on Polish spaces.  相似文献

We study certain commutative regular semisimple Banach algebras which we call hyper-Tauberian algebras. We first show that they form a subclass of weakly amenable Tauberian algebras. Then we investigate the basic and hereditary properties of them. Moreover, we show that if A is a hyper-Tauberian algebra, then the linear space of bounded derivations from A into any Banach A-bimodule is reflexive. We apply these results to the Figà-Talamanca-Herz algebra Ap(G) of a locally compact group G for p∈(1,∞). We show that Ap(G) is hyper-Tauberian if the principal component of G is abelian. Finally, by considering the quantization of these results, we show that for any locally compact group G, Ap(G), equipped with an appropriate operator space structure, is a quantized hyper-Tauberian algebra. This, in particular, implies that Ap(G) is operator weakly amenable.  相似文献

A new representation for the gradient of heat semigroup on Riemannian manifold is given by using the integration by parts formula on Wiener space, which reflects in some sense the asymptotic property of Brownian motion.  相似文献

In [2] Coleman and Enochs obtained results about the units of the polynomial ring R[x] for rings R satisfying a condi-tion which is, in some sense, a generalization of commutativity. In [3] some of these results were extended to group rings over an ordered group. In this note a class of rings larger than the class considered in [2] is used to extend the results in [2] and 3] to the semigroup ring RG, G an u.p, semigroup.

In the last section we give a necessary and sufficient condi-tion for an element to be a divisor of zero in RG where G is an u.p. semigroup.  相似文献

We study the notion of weak dividing introduced by S. Shelah. In particular we prove that T is stable iff weak dividing is symmetric. The first author was supported by a Korea Research Foundation grant (KRF-2004-042-A00025).  相似文献

In this note we investigate a nonstandard problem determined by a system of differential equations and initial conditions. We use the techniques of the mild solutions to obtain continuous dependence estimates, uniqueness and existence of solutions. We also make some comments on nonexistence and nonuniqueness of solutions.  相似文献

Let G be a locally compact group. We show that its Fourier algebra A(G) is amenable if and only if G has an abelian subgroup of finite index, and that its Fourier–Stieltjes algebra B(G) is amenable if and only if G has a compact, abelian subgroup of finite index. We then show that A(G) is weakly amenable if the component of the identity of G is abelian, and we prove some partial results towards the converse.Research supported by NSERC under grant no. 90749-00.Research supported by NSERC under grant no. 227043-00.  相似文献

Let C be a small category. Then we consider 1(C) as the 1 algebra over the morphisms of C, with convolution product and also consider as the 1 algebra over the objects of C, with pointwise multiplication. The main purpose of this paper is to show that approximate amenability of 1(C) implies of and clearly this implies that C has only finitely many objects. Some applications are given, the main one is the characterization of approximate amenability for 1(S), where S is a Brandt semigroup, which corrects a result of Lashkarizadeh Bami and Samea (Semigroup Forum 71:312–322, 2005).  相似文献

For a Banach algebra , amenability of necessitates amenability of , and similarly for weak amenability provided is a left ideal in . For a locally compact group, indeed more generally, is amenable if and only if is finite. If is weakly amenable, then is weakly amenable.
