The classical Saint‐Venant system is well suited for the modeling of dam breaks, hydraulic jumps, reservoir emptying, flooding etc. For many applications, the extension of the Saint‐Venant system to the case of non‐rectangular channels is necessary and this section‐averaged Saint‐Venant system exhibits additional source terms. The main difficulty of these equations consists of the discretization of these source terms. In this paper we propose a kinetic interpretation for the section averaged Saint‐Venant system and derive an associated numerical scheme. The numerical scheme—2nd order in space and time—preserves the positivity of the water height, and is well‐balanced. Numerical results including comparisons with analytic and experimental test problems illustrate the accuracy and the robustness of the numerical algorithm. Based on the global constraint principle of Antman and Marlow, a new solution of Saint Venant's problem is proposed. The solutions for the six fundamental cases of loading in terms of stress are obtained with relative ease and converge to the classical Saint Venant's solution as the length of the beam is increased. It is also shown that the assumptions of a special technical rod theory are coherent with the requirements of the global constraint theory for the Saint Venant cylinder. 相似文献

The existing theories of finite-time stability depend on a prescribed bound on initial disturbances and a prescribed threshold for allowable responses. It remains a challenge to identify the critical value of loading parameter for finite time instability observed in experiments without the need of specifying any prescribed threshold for allowable responses. Based on an energy balance analysis of a simple dynamic system, this paper proposes a general criterion for finite time stability which indicates that finite time stability of a linear dynamic system with constant coefficients during a given time interval [0, t f ] is guaranteed provided the product of its maximum growth rate (determined by the maximum eigen-root p1 >0) and the duration t f does not exceed 2, i.e., p1t f <2. The proposed criterion (p1t f =2) is applied to several problems of impacted buckling of elastic columns: (i) an elastic column impacted by a striking mass, (ii) longitudinal impact of an elastic column on a rigid wall, and (iii) an elastic column compressed at a constant speed (“Hoff problem”), in which the time-varying axial force is replaced approximately by its average value over the time duration. Comparison of critical parameters predicted by the proposed criterion with available experimental and simulation data shows that the proposed criterion is in robust reasonable agreement with the known data, which suggests that the proposed simple criterion (p1t f =2) can be used to estimate critical parameters for finite time stability of dynamic systems governed by linear equations with constant coefficients. 相似文献

The torsion problem of a circular nonlinear elastic rod loaded by end moments is considered. The solution constructed by the
method of successive approximations taking into account second-order effects is compared with the solution obtained by a semi-inverse
method. It is shown that the dead-loading assumption breaks the symmetry of the Cauchy stress tensor in a certain region.
A refined formulation of Saint Venant’s principle is proposed for the problem of determining integral strain characteristics.

This paper presents a high order symplectic conservative perturbation method for linear time-varying Hamiltonian system.Firstly,the dynamic equation of Hamiltonian system is gradually changed into a high order perturbation equation,which is solved approximately by resolving the Hamiltonian coefficient matrix into a "major component" and a "high order small quantity" and using perturbation transformation technique,then the solution to the original equation of Hamiltonian system is determined through a series of inverse transform.Because the transfer matrix determined by the method in this paper is the product of a series of exponential matrixes,the transfer matrix is a symplectic matrix;furthermore,the exponential matrices can be calculated accurately by the precise time integration method,so the method presented in this paper has fine accuracy,efficiency and stability.The examples show that the proposed method can also give good results even though a large time step is selected,and with the increase of the perturbation order,the perturbation solutions tend to exact solutions rapidly. 相似文献

Estimating river discharge from in situ and/or remote sensing data is a key issue for evaluation of water balance at local and global scales and for water management. Variational data assimilation (DA) is a powerful approach used in operational weather and ocean forecasting, which can also be used in this context. A distinctive feature of the river discharge estimation problem is the likely presence of significant uncertainty in principal parameters of a hydraulic model, such as bathymetry and friction, which have to be included into the control vector alongside the discharge. However, the conventional variational DA method being used for solving such extended problems often fails. This happens because the control vector iterates (i.e., approximations arising in the course of minimization) result into hydraulic states not supported by the model. In this paper, we suggest a novel version of the variational DA method specially designed for solving estimation‐under‐uncertainty problems, which is based on the ideas of iterative regularization. The method is implemented with SIC2, which is a full Saint‐Venant based 1D‐network model. The SIC2 software is widely used by research, consultant and industrial communities for modeling river, irrigation canal, and drainage network behavior. The adjoint model required for variational DA is obtained by means of automatic differentiation. This is likely to be the first stable consistent adjoint of the 1D‐network model of a commercial status in existence. The DA problems considered in this paper are offtake/tributary estimation under uncertainty in the cross‐device parameters and inflow discharge estimation under uncertainty in the bathymetry defining parameters and the friction coefficient. Numerical tests have been designed to understand identifiability of discharge given uncertainty in bathymetry and friction. 基于裂纹处范德华力效应,采用非局部弹性理论构造纳米板模型,并通过导入哈密顿体系建立含裂纹纳米板振动问题的对偶正则控制方程组。在全状态向量表示的哈密顿体系下,将含裂纹纳米板的固有频率和振型问题归结为广义辛本征值和本征解问题。利用哈密顿体系具有的辛共轭正交关系,得到问题解的级数解析表达式。结合边界条件,得到固有频率与辛本征值的代数方程关系式,进而直接给出固有频率的表达式。数值结果表明,非局部尺寸参数和裂纹长度对纳米板振动的各阶固有频率有直接的影响。对比表明,辛方法是准确且可靠的,可为工程应用提供依据。 相似文献

Finite element schemes for hyperbolic systems are applied to the St. Venant equations for one-dimensional, unsteady, open channel flow. The comparative performances of the characteristic-dissipative-Galerkin, Taylor-Galerkin and least squares finite element schemes are assessed by means of linear Fourier analysis and solution of idealized non-linear wave propagation problems. Of particular interest is the behaviour of these schemes for the regressive wave component in both subcritical and supercritical flows. To assess the quality of the basic solution, the methods are compared without any additional artificial diffusion or shock-capturing formulations. The balanced treatment of both wave components in the characteristic-dissipative-Galerkin method is illustrated. Also, the method displays little sensitivity to parameters variations. The Taylor-Galerkin scheme provides good solutions, although oscillations due to wave dispersion and minimal diffusion of the regressive wave are displayed. Also, this method is somewhat sensitive to the time step increment. The least squares method is considered unsuitable for unsteady, open channel flow problems owing to its inability to propagate a regressive wave in a supercritical flow. 相似文献

This paper deals with a class of upper triangular infinite-dimensional Hamiltonian operators appearing in the elasticity theory.The geometric multiplicity and algebraic index of the eigenvalue are investigated.Furthermore,the algebraic multiplicity of the eigenvalue is obtained.Based on these properties,the concrete completeness formulation of the system of eigenvectors or root vectors of the Hamiltonian operator is proposed.It is shown that the completeness is determined by the system of eigenvectors of the operator entries.Finally,the applications of the results to some problems in the elasticity theory are presented. 相似文献
