We report on the results of measurements of anisotropic resistivity of RBa2Cu3O6 + x (R = Tm, Lu) high-temperature superconducting single crystals in a wide range of doping levels, indicating a nontrivial effect of magnetic order on the electronic properties of cuprates. In particular, our results visually demonstrate the crossover from the state with moderate anisotropy of resistivity ρ c ab ~ 30 to a strongly anisotropic state with ρ c ab ~ 7 × 103 upon cooling as well as upon a decrease in the hole concentration in the CuO2 planes. It is also shown that anisotropy is sensitive to the magnetic state of CuO2 planes and attains its maximum value after the establishment of the long-range antiferromagnetic order. The results are discussed in the framework of the theory based on the t-t′-t″-J model of CuO2 layers taking into account strong electron correlations and short-range magnetic order. In this theory, anomalies of spin correlators and Fermi surface topology for a critical hole concentration of p* ≈ 0.24 are demonstrated. The concentration dependence of the charge carrier energy indicates partial suppression of energy due to the emergence of a pseudogap at p < p*. This theory explains both the experimentally observed sensitivity of anisotropy in conductivity to the establishment of the antiferromagnetic order and the absence of anomalies in the temperature dependence of resistivity ρ ab (T) in the vicinity of the Néel temperature.  相似文献

It is shown that the Imry–Ma theorem stating that in space dimensions d < 4 the introduction of an arbitrarily small concentration of defects of the “random local field” type in a system with continuous symmetry of the n-component vector order parameter (O(n) model) leads to long-range order collapse and to the occurrence of a disordered state is not true if the anisotropic distribution of the defect-induced random local field directions in the space of the order parameter gives rise to the effective anisotropy of the “easy axis” type. In the case of a weakly anisotropic field distribution, in space dimensions 2 ≤ d < 4 there exists some critical defect concentration, above which the inhomogeneous Imry–Ma state can exist as an equilibrium one. At a lower defect concentration, long-range order takes place in the system. In the case of a strongly anisotropic field distribution, the Imry–Ma state is suppressed completely and long-range order state takes place at any defect concentration.  相似文献

ESR measurements are reported for the quasi-two-dimensional honeycomb antiferromagnet BaNi2V2O8. Planar anisotropic properties are confirmed by angular dependent investigations of resonance field and linewidth. The divergence of the temperature-dependent linewidth on approaching T(N) from above is described in terms of the Kosterlitz-Thouless transition, the critical behavior close to long-range magnetic order, and the 2D Heisenberg antiferromagnet. We provide arguments that the Kosterlitz-Thouless scenario is compatible with the observed critical exponent and suggest BaNi2V2O8 is a weakly anisotropic 2D Heisenberg antiferromagnet.  相似文献

The Mermin-Wagner theorem is strengthened so as to rule out magnetic long-range order at T > 0 in one- or two-dimensional Heisenberg and XY systems with long-range interactions decreasing as R(-alpha) with a sufficiently large exponent alpha. For oscillatory interactions, ferromagnetic long-range order at T > 0 is ruled out if alpha > or = 1(D = 1) or alpha > 5/2(D = 2). For systems with monotonically decreasing interactions, ferro- or antiferromagnetic long-range order at T > 0 is ruled out if alpha > or = 2D.  相似文献

We study two-dimensional (2D) matter-wave solitons in the mean-field models formed by electric quadrupole particles with long-range quadrupole–quadrupole interaction (QQI) in 2D free space. The existence of 2D matter-wave solitons in the free space was predicted using the 2D Gross–Pitaevskii Equation (GPE). We find that the QQI solitons have a higher mass (smaller size and higher intensity) and stronger anisotropy than the dipole–dipole interaction (DDI) solitons under the same environmental parameters. Anisotropic soliton–soliton interaction between two identical QQI solitons in 2D free space is studied. Moreover, stable anisotropic dipole solitons are observed, to our knowledge, for the first time in 2D free space under anisotropic nonlocal cubic nonlinearity.  相似文献

An exact and explicit ladder-tensor-network ansatz is presented for the nonequilibrium steady state of an anisotropic Heisenberg XXZ spin-1/2 chain which is driven far from equilibrium with a pair of Lindblad operators acting on the edges of the chain only. We show that the steady-state density operator of a finite system of size n is-apart from a normalization constant-a polynomial of degree 2n - 2 in the coupling constant. Efficient computation of physical observables is facilitated in terms of a transfer operator reminiscent of a classical Markov process. In the isotropic case we find cosine spin profiles, 1/n(2) scaling of the spin current, and long-range correlations in the steady state. This is a fully nonperturbative extension of a recent result [Phys. Rev. Lett. 106, 217206 (2011)].  相似文献

Critical phenomena in anisotropic cubic N-component spin systems with long- and short-range interactions are investigated and discussed in the regions of weakly long-range, intermediate-range, range, and the long-range potentials. The expressions for the eigenvalues and the critical exponents (n,γ and crossover exponents) in these three regions are derived and their stability is discussed. These results of the systems are compared with those of the same isotropic systems.  相似文献

We investigated confinement effects on the resistive anisotropy of a superconducting niobium strip with a rectangular cross section. When its transverse dimensions are comparable to the superconducting coherence length, the angle dependent magnetoresistances at a fixed temperature can be scaled as R(theta,H) = R(H/Hctheta) where Hctheta =Hc0(cos2theta + gamma(-2)sin2theta)(-1/2) is the angular dependent critical field, gamma is the width to thickness ratio, and Hc0 is the critical field in the thickness direction at theta=0 degrees . The results can be understood in terms of the anisotropic diamagnetic energy for a given field in a one-dimensional superconductor.  相似文献

We consider the two-dimensional Ising model with long-range pair interactions of the form \(J_{xy}\sim |x-y|^{-\alpha }\) with \(\alpha >2\), mostly when \(J_{xy} \ge 0\). We show that Dobrushin states (i.e. extremal non-translation-invariant Gibbs states selected by mixed ± boundary conditions) do not exist. We discuss possible extensions of this result in the direction of the Aizenman–Higuchi theorem, or concerning fluctuations of interfaces. We also mention the existence of rigid interfaces in two long-range anisotropic contexts.  相似文献

We have performed a systematic angle-resolved photoemission study of as-grown and oxygen-reduced Pr(2-x)CexCuO4 and Pr(1-x)LaCexCuO4 electron-doped cuprates. In contrast with the common belief, neither the band filling nor the band parameters are significantly affected by the oxygen reduction process. Instead, we show that the main electronic role of the reduction process is to remove an anisotropic leading edge gap around the Fermi surface. While the nodal leading edge gap is induced by long-range antiferomagnetic order, the origin of the antinodal one remains unclear.  相似文献

We examine the ability of quantum discord (QD) and entanglements (concurrence, EoF and negativity) to detect the critical points associated to quantum phase transitions (QPTs) for XY models, i.e., the isotropic XY model with three-spin interactions at zero temperature, and the anisotropic XY model in a transverse magnetic field h at finite temperatures. For the case of zero temperature, we found that both entanglements and QD can spotlight the critical points of QPTs for these two models. Moreover, QD versus distance M exhibits the long-range behavior of quantum correlation for the anisotropic XY model, while entanglement is short-ranged. For the case of finite temperatures, we found that negativity has the same behaviors with concurrence at or near transition points. Moreover, QD for the anisotropic XY model can increase with temperature even in the absence of a magnetic field.  相似文献

We have investigated the expansion of a Bose-Einstein condensate of strongly magnetic chromium atoms. The long-range and anisotropic magnetic dipole-dipole interaction leads to an anisotropic deformation of the expanding chromium condensate which depends on the orientation of the atomic dipole moments. Our measurements are consistent with the theory of dipolar quantum gases and show that a chromium condensate is an excellent model system to study dipolar interactions in such gases.  相似文献

Two 4He atoms form a diatomic molecule with a significant vibrational wave function amplitude at interatomic separations R>100 ?, where the retardation switches the London R(-6) decay of the potential to the Casimir-Polder R(-7) form. It has been assumed that this effect of retardation on the long-range part of the potential is responsible for the 2 ? (4%) increase of the bond length of 4He2. We show that is, unexpectedly, insensitive to the potential at R>20 ? and its increase is due to quantum electrodynamics effects computed by us from expressions valid at short R--beyond the validity range of Casimir-Polder theory--that seamlessly extend this theory to distances relevant for properties of long molecules.  相似文献

Inelastic neutron scattering with high wave-vector resolution has characterized the propagation of transverse spin wave modes near the antiferromagnetic zone center in the metastable domain state of a random field Ising magnet. A well-defined, long wavelength excitation is observed despite the absence of long-range magnetic order. Direct comparisons with the spin wave dispersion in the long-range ordered antiferromagnetic state reveal no measurable effects from the domain structure. This result recalls analogous behavior in thermally disordered anisotropic spin chains but contrasts sharply with that of the phonon modes in relaxor ferroelectrics. The organic radical-ion salt DEOCC-TCNQF4 contains linear chains of stacked molecules with significant Heisenberg antiferromagnet interactions along the chain and extremely weak interactions between the chains. Zero-field muSR has confirmed the absence of long-range magnetic order down to 20 mK and field-dependent muSR is found to be consistent with diffusive motion of the spin excitations. The anisotropic spin dynamics and the upper boundary for magnetic ordering temperature both indicate interchain magnetic coupling /J'/<7 mK. As the intrachain coupling J is 110 K, /J'/J/ is significantly less than 10(-4). This system therefore provides one of the most ideal examples of the one-dimensional S=1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet yet discovered.  相似文献

A theory of long-range exchange interaction between an electron and a hole in a zero-dimensional exciton has been developed taking into account the retardation effect. It has been shown that, for the anisotropic localizing potential in bulk semiconductors or semiconductor nanostructures, the long-range interaction leads to a splitting of radiative localized-exciton levels. Polarization of split sublevels is determined by the shape of the exciton envelope function. For excitons localized in quantum wells, typical splitting is expected to be tens of μ eV in agreement with recent experiments.  相似文献

The acoustical and dielectric properties of glycine phosphite crystals are investigated in the temperature range of a ferroelectric phase transition. The acoustic anomalies for longitudinal waves along the X, Y, and Z crystallographic axes (where Y is the spontaneous polarization axis) are analyzed in the framework of the Landau theory. It is shown that pronounced acoustic anomalies of the velocity can be quantitatively described within the pseudoproper ferroelectric phase transition model with due regard for the long-range dipole-dipole interaction. For longitudinal acoustic waves propagating along the polar crystal axis, the striction anomaly of the velocity is only partly suppressed by the long-range dipole-dipole forces and an abrupt jump in the velocity is observed in the vicinity of the phase transition. The temperature coefficients of the velocity in the paraphase are determined. The striction contribution and the contributions biquadratic in the order parameter and in the strain to the velocity anomaly are separated.  相似文献
