A chiral low-molecular weight gelator, N,N'-diperfluoroheptanoyl-1,2(R,R)- or -1,2(S,S)-diaminocyclohexane, was prepared to form a gel of acetonitrile. The conformation of the gelator in fibrils was determined by vibrational circular dichroism spectra, providing a molecular model for self-assembly in a helical fibril.  相似文献

Asymmetry through ion pairing: Upon addition of chloride and bromide ions, as chiral ammonium salts, to solutions of pyrrole-based π-conjugated linear oligomers, helical structures form with asymmetric induction, which is guided by the formation of diastereomeric ion pairs with chiral counter cations. These ions pairs exhibit circular dichroism (CD) and strong circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) with g(lum) values of greater than 0.1.  相似文献

New gelators for urea-containing triazine derivatives were synthesised, and their gelation potential was examined using different organic solvents. These compounds were found to form the organogels with a variety of organic solvents, such as hexane and other solvents. The elongated alkyl tails of the gelators displayed an obvious decrease in the critical gelation concentrations of apolar solvents and an increase in the compatibility of gelation in polar solvents. The resulting thermo-reversible gels were characterised by using the dropping ball method and a number of other instruments. The melting temperature (Tm) of the gels in decalin and CCl4 increased with the gelator concentrations. The intermolecular hydrogen bonding of gelation in different organic solvents was observed using an FT-IR spectrometer. Temperature-dependent UV–vis and fluorescence analysis showed that the organogels displayed diverse aggregations and various fluorescence effects in different organic solvents. Blue fluorescence and J-aggregation in decalin and the quenched effect and π–π stacking in CCl4 were observed. Further, the morphological self-assembled feature in different organic solvents was studied with a scanning electron microscope, and the morphological features demonstrated that there were different aggregations in different solvents. In conductivity electrolyte experiments, the organogel electrolytes exhibited high conductivity (σ) compared with the corresponding tetrabutylammonium perchlorate (TBAP)/THF solution. The conductivity of the gel electrolytes increased with the concentration of the electrolyte salts and temperature. When the sol–gel temperature was achieved, a high ion conductivity was observed compared with the corresponding TBAP/THF solution. When the ratio of the added electrolyte salts exceeded 5%, gelation was inhibited. Furthermore, the effect of the electrolyte salts on the Tm of the gel was confirmed. The added electrolyte salts affected the gelation ability, but did not affect the sol–gel temperature.  相似文献

We synthesized novel axially chiral binaphthyl derivatives with highly twisting powers by substituting phenylcyclohexyl (PCH) mesogenic moieties into 2,2' positions or 2,2',6,6' positions of binaphthyl rings. The di- and tetrasubstituted binaphthyl derivatives, abbreviated as D-1 and D-2, respectively, were adopted as chiral dopants to induce chiral nematic liquid crystals (N*-LCs) available for synthesis of helical polyacetylene. The helical twisting power (betaM) of D-2 was 449 microm(-1), which was ca. 2.6 times larger than that of D-1 (171 microm(-1)). We prepared two kinds of induced N*-LCs with 5 microm and 270 nm in helical pitch by adding the chiral dopants D-1 and D-2 into the host N-LCs, respectively. The helical polyacetylene synthesized in the N*-LC containing D-2 exhibited highly screwed fibrils, but not a bundle of fibrils. This result is in quite contrast to the usual fibril morphology, where the screwed fibrils are gathered to form the bundle of fibrils, as observed in the helical polyacetylene synthesized in the N*-LC containing a chiral dopant with moderate helical twisting power, such as D-1. It is of keen interest that the helical pitch (270 nm) of the N*-LC including D-2 is much smaller than the diameter (ca. 1 microm) of the bundle of fibrils, which should depress the formation of the bundle of fibrils. The morphology free from the bundle of fibrils might enable us to evaluate more precisely intrinsic electromagnetic properties of a single screwed fibril of helical polyacetylene.  相似文献

Helically folded molecular capsules based on oligoamide sequences of aromatic amino acids which are capable of binding tartaric acid in organic solvents with high affinity and diastereoselectivity have been synthesized, and their structures and binding properties investigated by (1)H NMR, X-ray crystallography, circular dichroism, and molecular modeling. We found that elongating the helices at their extremities by adding monomers remote from the tartaric binding site results in a strong increase of the overall helix stability, but it does not influence the host-guest complex stability. The effect of this elongation on the binding and release rates of the guest molecules follows an unexpected non-monotonous trend. Three independent observations (direct monitoring of exchange over time, 2D-EXSY NMR, and molecular modeling) concur and show that guest exchange rates tend to first increase upon increasing helix length and then decrease when helix length is increased further. This investigation thus reveals the complex effects of adding monomers in a helically folded sequence on a binding event that occurs at a remote site and sheds light on possible binding and release mechanisms.  相似文献

Formation and behaviors of chiral aggregates of methylated tetraenoic fatty acids (TE-FAs) were reported. In the C-24 TE-FA series, the aggregate prepared by dispersing an ethanol stock solution of C-24 TE-FA 1b into sodium phosphate buffer gave a strong positive Cotton effect, whereas the aggregate prepared from a methanol stock solution gave a negative Cotton effect. In the C-20 TE-FA series, the aggregate prepared from an ethanol stock solution of C-20 TE-FA 2b exhibited time-dependent chirality inversion. [see text].  相似文献

A series of complementary molecular strands from 2-mer to 5-mer that are composed of m-terphenyl units bearing chiral/achiral amidine or achiral carboxyl groups linked via Pt(II) acetylide complexes were synthesized by sequential stepwise reactions, and their chiroptical properties on the double-helix formation were investigated by circular dichroism (CD) and (1)H NMR spectroscopies. In CHCl(3), the "all-chiral" amidine strands consisting of (R)- or (S)-amidine units formed preferred-handed double helices with the complementary achiral carboxylic acid strands through the amidinium-carboxylate salt bridges, resulting in characteristic induced CDs in the Pt(II) acetylide complex regions, indicating that the chiral substituents on the amidine units biased a helical sense preference. The Cotton effect patterns and intensities were highly dependent on the molecular lengths. The complementary double-helix formation was also explored using the chiral/achiral amidine strands with different sequences in which a chiral amidine unit was introduced at the center (center-chiral) or a terminus (edge-chiral) of the amidine strands. The effect of the sequences of the chiral and achiral amidine units on the amplification of chirality (the "sergeants and soldiers" effect) in the double-helix formation was investigated by comparing the CD intensities with those of the corresponding all-chiral amidine double helices with the same molecular lengths. Variable-temperature CD experiments of the all-chiral and chiral/achiral amidine duplexes demonstrated that the Pt(II)-linked complementary duplexes are dynamic and their chiroptical properties including the chirality transfer from the chiral amidine unit to the achiral amidine ones are significantly affected by the molecular lengths, sequences, and temperatures. On the basis of the above results together with molecular dynamics simulation results, key structural features of the Pt(II)-linked oligomer duplexes and the effect of the chiral/achiral amidine sequences on the amplification of chirality are discussed.  相似文献

11‐Dodecyn‐1‐ol as an achiral, aliphatic, monosubstituted acetylene was copolymerized with cholesteryl 3‐butynyl carbonate as a chiral, aliphatic, monosubstituted acetylene with Rh(nbd)[B(C6H5)4] (nbd = norbornadiene) in tetrahydrofuran. The main chain of the obtained copolymers seemed to be mainly composed of the cis‐type structure. The backbone π–π* transition of these copolymers showed significant circular dichroism (CD), indicating an excess of one‐handed helical conformation. These CD signals were varied with the contents of the cholesteryl units in the copolymers. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 39: 913–917, 2001  相似文献

Splitting it up: Excellent agreement between the experimental and the quantum-chemically simulated Raman optical activity (ROA) spectrum of (+)-poly(trityl methacrylate) shows that the polymer backbone adopts a left-handed helical conformation while the trityl side groups display a left-handed propeller conformation. Thus ROA can be used to determine the complete structure of synthetic chiral polymers in solution.  相似文献

Recently, a novel chiral intermolecular interaction was found in an N-deprotected achiral nonapeptide that undergoes the predominance of one-handed screw sense through the addition of chiral small carboxylic acid (Inai, Y.; Tagawa, K.; Takasu, A.; Hirabayashi, T.; Oshikawa, T.; Yamashita, M. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2000, 122, 11731). We here clarify to what extent such noncovalent chiral domino effect affects the helical screw sense of an N-deprotected chiral peptide. Two chiral peptides consisting of C-terminal L-Leu (1) or L-Leu(2) (2) and the preceding achiral helical octapeptide segment were employed. NMR and IR spectroscopy, and energy calculation indicated that both peptides adopt a helical conformation in chloroform. Peptide 1 showed a small excess of a left-handed screw sense for the achiral helical octapeptide, but peptide 2 strongly preferred a right-handed screw sense. The addition of chiral Boc amino acid to a chloroform solution of peptide 1, depending on its chirality, underwent a unique helix-to-helix transition or led to remarkable stabilization of the original left-handed screw sense. Peptide 2 retained the original right-handed screw sense on addition of chiral Boc-amino acid, but its helical stability changed to some extent depending on its added chirality. Therefore, the importance of noncovalent domino effect for controlling the helical screw sense or helical stability of a chiral peptide has been demonstrated here for the first time. In addition, we here have presented a unique system that both N-terminal noncovalent and C-terminal covalent domino effects operate simultaneously on the helical screw sense of a single achiral segment and have compared both powers for inducing the screw sense bias.  相似文献

Chiral-bridged rod molecules (CBRs) that consisted of bis(penta-p-phenylene) conjugated to an opened or closed chiral bridging group as a rigid segment and oligoether dendrons as flexible segments were synthesized and characterized. In the bulk state, both molecules self-assemble into a hexagonal columnar structure, as confirmed by X-ray scatterings and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observations. Interestingly, these structures display opposite Cotton effects in the chromophore of the aromatic unit in spite of the same chirality (R,R) of the chiral bridging groups. The molecules were observed to self-assemble into cylindrical micellar aggregates in aqueous solution, as confirmed by light scattering and TEM investigations, and exhibit intense signals in the circular dichroism (CD) spectra, which are indicative of one-handed helical conformations. The CD spectra of each molecule showed opposite signals to each other, which were similar to those in the bulk. Notably, when the opened CBR was added to a solution of closed CBRs up to a certain concentration, the CD signal of the closed CBR was amplified. This implies that both molecules co-assemble into a one-handed helical structure because the opened chiral bridge is conformationally flexible, which is inverted to co-assemble with the closed CBR. These results demonstrate that small structural modifications of the chiral moiety can transfer the chiral information to a supramolecular assembly in the opposite way.  相似文献

A series of chiral triplet liquid crystalline compounds with a central biphenyl group to which two dihydrocholesteryl groups are attached via two flexible alkanoate spacers has been prepared and investigated. As a function of spacer length, these compounds show strong odd-even effects for the phase transition temperatures, the corresponding entropy changes and the selective reflection wavelengths associated with the chiral nematic phases. Asymmetrical compounds with one odd and one even number of methylene groups in their spacers have properties intermediate between those of symmetrical compounds with two odd or two even spacers.  相似文献

[structure: see text]. A new concept for the discrete preparation of optical antipodes is reported. The approach makes use of a cyclization/cleavage procedure that has been applied to polymer-supported quasi-meso compound 1, containing a polymeric leaving group and a regular leaving group. Two-directional cyclization leads to the formation and separation of quasi-enantiomers 2 and 3 simultaneously, with one being immobilized and one free in solution. Treatment of 2 and 3 with appropriate nucleophiles gives discrete enantiomers 4 and 5.  相似文献
