Summary A series of metal complexes with new tridentate Schiff base derived from salicylaldehyde and furfuraldehyde with o-phenyldiamine have been prepared and characterised by physical and chemical methods. Electronic spectra, room temperature magnetic moment values, e.p.r. and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies suggest an octahedral geometry for all the complexes, where low molar conductance values are in accord with their non-electrolytic nature. The thermal stability of the complexes is discussed and the ligand-to-metal bonding modes discussed.  相似文献

The first row transition metal ions Mn(2+), Co(2+), and Ni(2+) have been studied by classical umbrella sampling molecular dynamics simulations. The water exchange mechanisms, estimates of reaction rates, as well as structural changes during the activation process are discussed. Mn(2+) was found to react via an I(A) mechanism, whereas Co(2+) and Ni(2+) both proceed via I(D). Reaction rate constants are generally higher than those obtained by experiment but the simply constructed metal(II) ion-water potential reproduces the relative order quite well.  相似文献

Complexes of N-phthaloylglycinate (N-phthgly) and CoII, NiII, CuII, ZnII and CdII containing imidazole (imi), N-methylimidazole (mimi), 2,2-bipyridyl (bipy) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), and tridentate amines such as 2,2,2-terpyridine (terpy) and 2,4,6-(2-pyridyl)s-triazine (tptz), were prepared and characterized by conventional methods, i.r. spectra and by thermogravimetric analysis. For imi and mimi ternary complexes, the general formula [M(imi/mimi)2(N-phthgly)2nH2O, where M = CoII, NiII, CuII and ZnII applies. For CdII ternary complexes with imi, [Cd(imi)3(N-phthgly)2]·2H2O applies. For the bi and tridentate ligands, ternary complexes of the formula [M(L)(N-phthgly)2nH2O were obtained, where M = CoII, NiII, CuII and ZnII; L = bipy, phen, tptz and terpy. In all complexes, N-phthgly acts as a monodentate ligand, coordinating metal ions through the carboxylate oxygen, except for the ternary complexes of CoII, NiII and CuII with mimi and CuII and ZnII with imi, where the N-phthgly acts as a bidentate ligand, coordinating the metal ions through both carboxylate oxygen atoms.  相似文献

Summary Vanillin thiosemicarbazone (VTSC) has been used to isolate the complexes of the types [M(VTSC)2(H2O)2]X2 (M=MnII, FeII, CoII, or NiII and X=Cl) and [M(VTSC)X2]H2O (M=CuII, ZnII, CdII or HgII and X=Cl). Probable structures of these complexes are suggested on the basis of elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic moment and electronic and i.r. spectral data. The fungicidal activity of VTSC and the isolated complexes has been evaluated on pathogenic fungi,Alternaria (Sp.),Paecilomyces (Sp.) andPestalotia (Sp.).On leave from the University of Myosore.  相似文献

The coordination chemistry of a rigid periodinated ligand, 2,3,5,6-tetraiodo-1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid (H2BDC-I4), with a series of transition metal ions has been explored to afford five new coordination polymers {[M(BDC-I4)(MeOH)4](H2BDC-I4)(MeOH)2} n (M?=?ZnII for 1, CdII for 2, CoII for 3 and MnII for 4) and {[Mn(BDC-I4)(MeOH)4](DMF)} n (5). All these complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric (TG) analysis, and X-ray crystallography. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals that complexes 1?C4 are isostructural and have a one-dimensional chain structure. Upon the addition of the solvent DMF, the infinite linear chain array in 4 is converted to a 1-D wave-like chain motif in 5 with a different space group ( $ P\overline{1} $ for 4 and P21/c for 5). The difference between structures 1?C4 and 5 can be attributed to the coordination mode of carboxylate changing from trans to cis fashion. The ZnII and CdII complexes 1 and 2 display similar emissions in the solid state, which essentially are intraligand transitions.  相似文献

Summary Complexes of the type M(AcLeu)2 · B2 (M = CoII, NiII or ZnII; B = H2O, py, 3-pic, 4-pic; AcLeu =N-acetyl-DL-leucinate ion) and M(AcLeu)2 B (M = CoII or ZnII and B = o-phen) were prepared and investigated by means of magnetic and spectroscopic measurements. The i.r. spectra of all the complexes are consistent with bidentate coordination of the amino acid to the metal ion. The room temperature solid state electronic spectra indicate that the symmetry of this species is closer toD 4h and that MO6 and MO4N2 chromophores are present in the M(AcLeu)2 · 2 H2O and M(AcLeu)2Bn · x H2O (B = py, 3-pic, 4-pic, n=2 and x=0 for M = NiII; B = o-phen, n=1 and x=0 for M = CoII; B = py, 3-pic, 4-pic, n=1 and x=1 for M = CoII) complexes, respectively. By comparing the Dq values of the amino acid and those of other N-substituted amino acids previously studied, a spectrochemical series of the the cobalt(II) and nickel(II) complexes is proposed. The1 H n.m.r. spectra of the zinc(II) complexes confirm the proposed stereochemistry.  相似文献

Summary The thermodynamic proton-ligand and metal ligand stability constants of the newN-o-chlorophenylbenzohydroxamic acids with manganese, nickel, copper, zinc, cadmium and mercury have been determined in 1 : 1 dioxan : water at 25°.The stability of the complexes mostly follow the ligand basicity order and also the metal ion electron affinities as measured by their ionization potential. The stability constants of the metal complexes follow the order: Cu(II) > Zn(II) > Ni(II) > Mn(II) > Hg(II) > Cd(II).  相似文献

An influence of the structure of a globule of polyethyleneimine on the complex formation of one with the copper(II), nickel(II), and cobalt(II) ions is described. A change of the coordination number from the pH of solution for complexes of ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, and polyethyleneimine with metal ions was found. The fraction of monomer links, bound with metal ions, depends on the volume of the globule of macromolecule as well as the condition of the proceeding reaction. The reaction of complex formation is controlled by the diffusion of metal ions into the polymer globule in solution. The effective equilibrium constants of complex formation were found. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 40: 914–922, 2002; DOI 10.1002/pola.10157  相似文献

Summary Coordination compounds having the general formula ML2Ox are described, with Ox = oxalato dianion; M = Ni, Co and Zn; 1 = water and imidazoles. The compounds are characterised by chemical analyses, i.r., far-i.r., Raman, ligand field and e.s.r. spectra. Magnetic susceptibility measurements at low temperatures indicate a polymeric structure of ant i-ferromagnetically coupled M2+ ions. All physical measurements agree with a polymeric structure built up by oxalate ions as tetradentate bridging ligands forming one-dimensional linear chains. Flach metal ion is coordinated by four oxalate oxygens and two donor atoms (N or O) in distorted octahedron. For M = Ni, the magnetic susceptibility measurements can be best described with the Heisenberg model including a zero-field splitting; for M = Co, the Ising model gives the best results. The exchange coupling constants, IJ1, vary from 9-13 cm–1.  相似文献

New compounds of norfloxacin (nfH, C16H18FN3O3) with cobalt(II), zinc(II), cadmium(II), and mercury(II) synthesized have the following compositions: Co(nfH-O,O’)2(H2O)2](NO3)2, (nfH2)2CdCl4 · 2H2O, (nfH2)2ZnCl4 · 2H2O, (nfH2)2HgCl4 · 2H2O, and (nfH3)HgCl4. Their crystallographic parameters were determined. The first listed compound is isostructural to the known zinc analogue. Norfloxacin coordination modes in these complexes are considered.  相似文献

Summary Solid metal complexes of benzilic and mandelic esters have been prepared and their structure elucidated using vis., i.r., n.m.r. and e.s.r. spectra. The results of elemental analysis are commensurate with the proposed formulae. Spectral studies indicate that the Ni complexes are octahedral, whereas the Co and Cu analogoues are distorted octahedral.  相似文献

Summary Complexes of CoII, NiII, CuII, ZnII, CdII, HgII and UO 2 II with benzil bis(4-phenylthiosemicarbazone), H2BPT, have been synthesized and their structures assigned based on elemental analysis, molar conductivity, magnetic susceptibility and spectroscopic measurements. The i.r. spectra suggest that the ligand behaves as a binegative quadridentate (NSSN) (CoII, CuII, HgII and UO 2 II complexes) or as a binegative quadridentate-neutral bidentate chelating agent (NiII, ZnII and CdII complexes). Octahedral structures for the CoII and NiII complexes and square-planar structure for the CuII complex are suggested on the basis of magnetic and spectral evidence. The crystal field parameters (Dq, B and B) for the CoII complex are calculated and agree fairly well with the values reported for known octahedral complexes. The ligand can be used for the microdetermination of NiII ions of concentration in the 0.4–6×10–4 mol l–1 range and the apparent formation constant for the species generated in solution has also been calculated.  相似文献

Summary Several new complexes of the title ligand (H2MPTS) with CoII, NiII, CuII, and CdII have been prepared. Structural assignments of the complexes have been made based on elemental analysis, molar conductivity, magnetic moment and spectral (i.r.,1H n.m.r., reflectance) studies. The compounds are non-conductors in dimethylsulphoxide. The neutral molecule is coordinated to the metal(II) sulphate as a bidentate ligandvia the two carbonyl groups. The ligand reacts with the metal(II) chlorides with the liberation of two hydrogen ions, behaving as a bianionic quadridentate (NONO) donor. Enolization is confirmed by the pH-titration of H2 MPTS and its metal(II) complexes against NaOH. A distorted octahedral structure is proposed for the CuII complex, while a square planar structure is suggested for both CoII and NiII complexes. The stoichiometry of the complexes formed in EtOH and buffer solutions, their apparent formation constants and the ranges for obedience to Beer's law are reported for CoII, NiII and CuII ions. The ligand pK values are calculated. The antimicrobial activity of H2 MPTS and its CoII, NiII, CuII and MnII complexes is demonstrated.  相似文献

The complexation of urea (ur) with manganese(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II) ions has been studied by titration calorimetry in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) containing 0.4M (C(2)H(5))(4) NBF(4) as a constant ionic medium at 25 degrees C. The calorimetric data were well explained in terms of the formation of [Mn(ur)](2+), [Mn(ur)(2)](2+) and [Mn(ur)(4)](2+) for manganese(II), [Ni(ur)](2+) for nickel(II) and [Zn(ur)](2+) and [Zn(ur)(2)](2+) for zinc(II), and their formation constants, reaction enthalpies and entropies were determined. The complexation of the nickel(II)-urea system in DMF has also been studied by means of spectrophotometric titration and electronic spectra of individual nickel(II) complexes were determined. On the basis of the stepwise thermodynamic quantities and the individual electronic spectra of the complexes, it is revealed that the [Mn(ur)](2+), [Mn(ur)(2)](2+), [Ni(ur)](2+), [Zn(ur)](2+) and [Zn(ur)(2)](2+) complexes have a six-coordinate octahedral structure, while the [Mn(ur)(4)](2+) complex has a four-coordinate tetrahedral structure.  相似文献
