Lanthanum trivalent ions (La(3+)) doped titanium dioxide (TiO(2)) nanopowders in the range of 20-60 nm were prepared successfully by plasma spray in the self-developed plasma spray equipment. The photocatalytic activity of samples at different doping concentrations in photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange was discussed. The nanopowders prepared were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, ultraviolet-visible spectra, photoluminescence (PL) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results show that La(3+) doping increased the photocatalytic activity of TiO(2) greatly, the optimal doping concentration was 0.5 at%. The La(3+) doping decreases the particle size and the distribution of particle sizes becomes more uniform. The doped powders were the mixture of anatase and rutile phase. The contents of anatase phase decreased firstly and then increased with an increase in the contents of La(3+). The intrinsic absorption band of La(3+) doped TiO(2) nanopowders appears red shift from that of pure TiO(2) nanopowders. The intensity of PL spectra increases and then decreases with increasing the content of La(3+). The PL spectral intensity reaches its peak when the ratio of La(3+)/TiO(2) is 0.2 at%. There are O, Ti, C and La elements in the prepared La(3+) doped TiO(2) nanopowders, La element still exists in trivalent and Ti element always exists in tetravalent.  相似文献

Pd/TiO(2) catalysts have been prepared using TiO(2) supports consisting of various rutile/anatase crystalline phase compositions. Increasing percentages of rutile phase in the TiO(2) resulted in a decrease in Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface areas, fewer Ti(3+) sites, and lower Pd dispersion. While acetylene conversions were found to be merely dependent on Pd dispersion, ethylene selectivity appeared to be strongly affected by the presence of Ti(3+) in the TiO(2) samples. When TiO(2) samples with 0-44% rutile were used, high ethylene selectivities (58-93%) were obtained whereas ethylene losses occurred for those supported on TiO(2) with 85% or 100% rutile phase. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and electron spin resonance experiments revealed that a significant amount of Ti(3+) existed in the TiO(2) samples composed of 0-44% rutile. The presence of Ti(3+) in contact with Pd can probably lower the adsorption strength of ethylene resulting in an ethylene gain. Among the five catalysts used in this study, the results for Pd/TiO(2)-R44 suggest an optimum anatase/rutile composition of the TiO(2) used to obtain high selectivity of ethylene in selective acetylene hydrogenation.  相似文献

Iron(III)-doped TiO(2) nanopowders, with controlled iron to titanium atomic ratios (R(Fe/Ti)) ranging from nominal 0 to 20%, were synthesized using oxidative pyrolysis of liquid-feed metallorganic precursors in a radiation-frequency (RF) thermal plasma. The valence of iron doped in the TiO(2), phase formation, defect structures, band gaps, and magnetic properties of the resultant nanopowders were systematically investigated using M?ssbauer spectroscopy, XRD, Raman spectroscopy, TEM/HRTEM, UV-vis spectroscopy, and measurements of magnetic properties. The iron doped in TiO(2) was trivalent (3+) in a high-spin state as determined by the isomer shift and quadrupole splitting from the M?ssbauer spectra. No other phases except anatase and rutile TiO(2) were identified in the resultant nanopowders. Interestingly, thermodynamically metastable anatase predominated in the undoped TiO(2) nanopowders, which can be explained from a kinetic point of view based on classical homogeneous nucleation theory. With iron doping, the formation of rutile was strongly promoted because rutile is more tolerant than anatase to the defects such as oxygen vacancies resulting from the substitution of Fe(3+) for Ti(4+) in TiO(2). The concentration of oxygen vacancies reached a maximum at R(Fe/Ti) = 2% above which excessive oxygen vacancies tended to concentrate. As a result of this concentration, an extended defect like crystallographic shear (CS) structure was established. With iron doping, red shift of the absorption edges occurred in addition to the d-d electron transition of iron in the visible light region. The as-prepared iron-doped TiO(2) nanopowders were paramagnetic in nature at room temperature.  相似文献

The influence of TiO2 nanopowder doping with 4 wt% indium and 2 wt% each of indium and chromium on phase transformation was studied. Samples were heated from ambient temperature to 950 °C in sealed quartz capillaries, and in-situ synchrotron radiation diffraction measurements were obtained. Capillary sealing yielded an increase in capillary gas pressure to 0.42 MPa at 950 °C in proportion to absolute temperature by Gay-Lussac’s Law. The initial synthesized samples were amorphous, and crystalline anatase appeared at 200 °C. Crystalline rutile appeared at 850 °C for the nanomaterials that were doped with In and In and Cr. A change in sealed-capillary oxygen partial pressure yielded a decrease and an increase in crystallization temperature, respectively, for the amorphous-to-anatase and anatase-to-rutile transformations. Crystalline titania (anatase and rutile) formed from the amorphous titania by 800 °C and 900 °C, for materials doped with In and In-Cr, respectively. The anatase concentration that was dominant in the In-doped materials up to 950 °C and the higher rutile concentration for the In-Cr doped materials from 900 to 950 °C results from the defect structure that was induced by doping. Cr-ions in the Ti sub-lattice retarded the transformation of anatase to rutile when compared with the retarding effect of mixed In/Cr ions. The transformation results because of the relatively smaller radius of Cr-ions when compared with the In-ions. The differences in phase-transformation kinetics for In, In-Cr and for undoped nanopowders in the literature agree with the calculated transformation activation energies.  相似文献

ZrO(2)-doped TiO(2) hollow nanospheres with anatase phase are efficiently fabricated via functionalized negatively charged polystyrene (PS) spheres without any surfactant or polyelectrolyte. The resulting Ti(1-)(x)Zr(x)O(2) (hereafter denoted as TZ) hollow nanospheres are characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Laser Raman spectroscopy (LRS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF), nitrogen sorption, and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis). The Zr(4+) incorporation decreases the anatase crystallite size, increases the specific surface area, and changes the pore size distribution. Furthermore, it induces enrichment of electron charge density around Ti(4+) ions and blueshift of absorption edges. The TZ hollow nanospheres doped with moderate ZrO(2) (molar ratio, Ti:Zr=10:1) exhibit better photocatalytic activity than the other samples for the degradation of rhodamine B in aqueous solution, which is correlated with the effect of Zr(4+) doping on the physicochemical properties in terms of surface structures, phase structures, and the electronic structures.  相似文献

The influence of Sn doping on the anatase-to-rutile phase transition has been investigated in high area powders prepared by a sol-gel route involving alkoxide precursors. Sn doping facilitates conversion of anatase to rutile at lower temperatures than observed for undoped material. At the same time Sn-doping inhibits sintering as gauged by line widths in X-ray diffraction and gas-adsorption surface area measurements. These observations are linked to the finding of pronounced segregation of Sn to the surface of rutile TiO(2) observed in X-ray photoemission spectra. Sn-doped TiO(2) is found to exhibit enhanced visible region photocatalytic activity as compared with undoped material in dye degradation experiments. This is attributed to narrowing of the bulk bandgap at low doping levels coupled with the introduction of surface states associated with segregated Sn ions in the divalent state. The Sn(II) surface states lie above the top of the main valence band and can therefore act as trapping sites for holes produced under photoexcitation.  相似文献

An in situ electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) study has been carried out for anatase (Hombikat UV100) and rutile TiO(2) nanoparticles at liquid helium (He) temperature (4.2 K) under UV irradiation. Rutile titania was synthesized by ultrasonic irradiation with titanium tetrachloride (TiCl(4)) as the precursor. XRD and Raman results evidence the crystallinity of titania phases. The nature of trapped electrons and holes has been investigated by EPR spectroscopy under air and vacuum conditions. Illumination of TiO(2) powder (anatase and rutile) at 4.2 K resulted in the detection of electrons being trapped at Ti(4+) sites within the bulk and holes trapped at lattice oxide ions at the surface. The stability of electron traps was very sensitive to temperature in both phases of TiO(2). The annealing kinetics of the EPR detected radicals has been studied from 4.2 K to ambient temperature and also for calcined titania particles from 523 to 1273 K.  相似文献

Two series of nitrogen doped TiO(2) samples with different ratios of anatase to rutile phases were prepared by milling the mixture of P25 TiO(2) and C(6)H(12)N(4) in air and gaseous NH(3) atmosphere, respectively. Compared to air, NH(3) atmosphere plays an important role in delaying the crystallite transformation from anatase to rutile in the mechanochemical reaction of TiO(2) and C(6)H(12)N(4). In contrast to the previously reported results for pure TiO(2), it is found that nitrogen doped TiO(2) with higher content of rutile phase demonstrates higher photocatalytic activity in photodegrading pollutant Rhodamine B under both UV light and visible light irradiation (lambda>420 nm), and the amount of the surface-adsorbed water and hydroxyl groups on nitrogen doped TiO(2) have little correlations with their crystallite phases (anatase or rutile) and photocatalytic activity. The more abundant surface states characterized by photoluminescence spectroscopy together with the lowered valence band maximum of rutile TiO(2) by nitrogen doping are considered as the key factors for the higher activity of nitrogen doped TiO(2) with higher content of rutile phase.  相似文献

Co-doped anatase and rutile bulk-samples prepared by the sol-gel technique are found to be paramagnetic at room-temperature. Only further annealing in Ar/H2 gas results in a ferromagnetic behavior. X-ray diffraction and electron-microscope studies reveal for low doping levels <4% the formation of Co-doped rutile samples and the formation of CoTiO3 as a new phase. Co3O4 can be detected in anatase samples with Co doping levels ?4%. The observed Co oxides are reduced by Ar/H2 to Co metal. The room-temperature ferromagnetism can therefore be traced back to a segregation of metallic Co.  相似文献

Rutile TiO(2) particles were partly dissolved into aqueous solutions of H(2)SO(4), and the Ti(4+) ions were reprecipitated by adding NH(3) aq. Rutile-anatase coupled TiO(2) particles were prepared by heating the solid recovered after centrifugation of the suspension. The content of anatase (c(A), wt%) could be controlled arbitrarily by changing the dissolved amount of rutile. The photocatalytic activity for the gas-phase oxidation of acetaldehyde was evaluated. The first-order rate constant, k, strongly depended on both c(A) and heating temperature (T(c)), increasing with an increase in T(c) at T(c)相似文献

The Ce-TiO2 catalysts were prepared by controlled hydrolysis of Ti(OC(4)H(9))(4) with water generated "in situ" via an esterification reaction between acetic acid and ethanol, followed by hydrothermal treatment. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic absorption flame emission spectroscopy (AAS), and nitrogen adsorption-desorption methods. Both of undoped TiO2 and Ce-TiO2 samples exclusively consist of primary anatase crystallites, which further form spherical aggregates with diameters ranging from 100 to 500 nm. The photocatalytic activity of Ce-TiO2 was investigated for the photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B (RB) aqueous solution both under UV and visible light irradiation. Doping of Ce(4+) effectively improves the photocatalytic activity under both UV light irradiation and visible light irradiation with an optimal doping concentration of 0.2 and 0.4%, respectively. The photocatalytic mechanisms of Ce-TiO2 catalysts were tentatively discussed.  相似文献

The reaction mechanisms for selective acetylene hydrogenation on three different supports, Pd(4) cluster, oxygen defective anatase (101), and rutile (110) titania supported Pd(4), cluster are studied using the density functional theory calculations with a Hubbard U correction (DFT+U). The present calculations show that the defect anatase support binds Pd(4) cluster more strongly than that of rutile titania due to the existence of Ti(3+) in anatase titania. Consequently, the binding energies of adsorbed species such as acetylene and ethylene on Pd(4) cluster become weaker on anatase supported catalysts compared to the rutile supported Pd(4) cluster. Anatase catalyst has higher selectivity of acetylene hydrogenation than rutile catalyst. On the one hand, the activation energies of ethylene formation are similar on the two catalysts, while they vary a lot on ethyl formation. The rutile supported Pd catalyst with lower activation energy is preferable for further hydrogenation. On the other hand, the relatively weak adsorption energy of ethylene is gained on anatase surface, which means it is easier for ethylene desorption, hence getting higher selectivity. For further understanding, the energy decomposition method and micro-kinetic analysis are also introduced.  相似文献

Highly visible-light-active S,N-codoped anatase-rutile heterojunctions are reported for the first time. The formation of heterojunctions at a relatively low temperature and visible-light activity are achieved through thiourea modification of the peroxo-titania complex. FT-IR spectroscopic studies indicated the formation of a Ti(4+)-thiourea complex upon reaction between peroxo-titania complex and thiourea. Decomposition of the Ti(4+)-thiourea complex and formation of visible-light-active S,N-codoped TiO(2) heterojunctions are confirmed using X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and UV/vis spectroscopic studies. Existence of sulfur as sulfate ions (S(6+)) and nitrogen as lattice (N-Ti-N) and interstitial (Ti-N-O) species in heterojunctions are identified using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and FT-IR spectroscopic techniques. UV-vis and valence band XPS studies of these S,N-codoped heterojunctions proved the fact that the formation of isolated S 3p, N 2p, and Π* N-O states between the valence and conduction bands are responsible for the visible-light absorption. Titanium dioxide obtained from the peroxo-titania complex exists as pure anatase up to a calcination temperature as high as 900 °C. Whereas, thiourea-modified samples are converted to S,N-codoped anatase-rutile heterojunctions at a temperature as low as 500 °C. The most active S,N-codoped heterojunction 0.2 TU-TiO(2) calcined at 600 °C exhibits a 2-fold and 8-fold increase in visible-light photocatalytic activities in contrast to the control sample and the commercial photocatalyst Degussa P-25, respectively. It is proposed that the efficient electron-hole separation due to anatase to rutile electron transfer is responsible for the superior visible-light-induced photocatalytic activities of S,N-codoped heterojunctions.  相似文献

With Ti(SO4)2, SnCl4·5H2O and urea as raw materials, SnO2-TiO2 nanocomposites were synthesized via low temperature hydrothermal method at 80―100 ℃ in aqueous solutions. The morphologies of the products were altered systematically by varying the Ti/Sn molar ratio of the reactants, and rutile-phase particles were obtained with an average diameter of about 52.2 nm at a molar ratio of Ti/Sn=7.5. The surface composition of the composite was revealed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and X-ray diffraction(XRD) to be solely TiO2 with a rutile structure. This new composite material exhibits a high ultraviolet absorption capacity, and its photocatalytic activity for phenol oxidation is much lower than that of the commercial titania nanoparticles(P25).  相似文献

Nanocrystalline TiO(2) catalysts with different anatase/rutile ratios and high surface area (113-169 m(2)/g) have been prepared at low temperature by the microemulsion-mediated hydrothermal method. The samples were characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform (FT)-IR spectra, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra, and nitrogen adsorption-desorption methods. The contents of anatase and rutile phases in the TiO(2) powders have been successfully controlled by simply changing the proportion of Cl(-) and SO(4)(2-) in the aqueous phase of the microemulsion. A proposed mechanism involving bidentately chelated sulfate is discussed to explain the variation of the crystalline phase in the TiO(2) powder. The photodegradation of methyl orange (MO) in water has been investigated over titanium dioxide consisting of different anatase/rutile ratios. The catalyst containing 74.2% anatase showed the highest photocatalytic activity, which is due to a synergistic effect between anatase and rutile. The synergism was also found for the photodegradation of MO with physically mixed anatase and rutile as catalysts.  相似文献

Highly active sulfate-promoted rutile titania (SO(4)(2-)/TiO(2)) with smaller band gap was prepared by an in situ sulfation method, that is, under moderate conditions, sulfate-promoted rutile titania was directly obtained via precipitating Ti(SO(4))(2) in NaOH solution followed by peptizing in HNO(3) without the phase transformation from anatase to rutile. Thus, the negative impacts of phase transformation from anatase to rutile on the structure, surface, and photoactivity properties of the catalysts due to higher calcination temperature can be avoided. The catalysts were characterized by means of thermal analysis, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis (BET), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV-visible spectroscopy, FT-IR pyridine adsorption, and temperature-programmed desorption (TPD). The results show sulfate species are sensitive to the variation of calcination temperature. In the process of peptizing, sulfate species are homogeneously dispersed throughout the bulk of catalysts, allowing sulfate species to penetrate into the network of TiO(2) effectively. After being calcined at 300 degrees C, sulfate species occupy oxygen sites to form Ti-S bonds, as evidenced by XPS results. As calcination temperature is further increased to 600 degrees C or above, the active sulfate species on the catalyst surface are destroyed, and the sulfate species in the network of TiO(2) are expelled out onto the surface to form inactive sulfate species. Thus, Ti(3+) defects will be produced on the catalyst surface. Accompanying this process, surface area is decreased promptly, and crystalline size is greatly increased via two fast growth phases due to the decomposition of sulfate species with different binding forces. Most importantly, the band gap of SO(4)(2-)/TiO(2) is remarkably shifted to the visible light region due to the formation of Ti-S bonds, and with increasing calcination temperature the visible light absorption capability is reduced due to breakage of Ti-S bonds. The excellent photoactivity of 300 degrees C calcined SO(4)(2-)/TiO(2) can be explained by its small crystalline size, high surface area, loose and porous microstructure, and the generation of Br?nsted acidity on its surface.  相似文献

Fluorine-doped TiO2 thin films featuring columnar structure were prepared on fluorine-doped tin oxide (SnO2:F) substrate using a sol–gel method. The F doping ratios were varied in the range of 0–8 %. The effect of [F]/[Ti + F] ratio on the structural, morphological, optical, photocatalytic and low-emissivity properties has been investigated in detail. X-ray diffraction studies revealed that all the composited films are mainly composed of anatase TiO2 and rutile SnO2 without other phases. The prepared TiO2:F films possessed the columnar morphology with the single layer thickness ranging from 28 to 31 nm. The best photocatalytic activity was obtained for the films with 4 % F doping ratio which is mainly attributed to the highest crystallization and crystallite size. The transmission and hemispherical emissivity of the composite films could still reach approximately 70 % and 0.20, which match the requirements of the Chinese National Standard (GB/T18915.2-2002), promoting the films for the practical applications.  相似文献
