In this paper, we present a derivation of the black hole area entropy with the relationship between entropy and information. The curved space of a black hole allows objects to be imaged in the same way as camera lenses. The maximal information that a black hole can gain is limited by both the Compton wavelength of the object and the diameter of the black hole. When an object falls into a black hole, its information disappears due to the no-hair theorem, and the entropy of the black hole increases correspondingly. The area entropy of a black hole can thus be obtained, which indicates that the Bekenstein–Hawking entropy is information entropy rather than thermodynamic entropy. The quantum corrections of black hole entropy are also obtained according to the limit of Compton wavelength of the captured particles, which makes the mass of a black hole naturally quantized. Our work provides an information-theoretic perspective for understanding the nature of black hole entropy.  相似文献

We perform the first fully nonlinear numerical simulations of black-hole binaries with mass ratios 100∶1. Our technique is based on the moving puncture formalism with a new gauge condition and an optimal choice of the mesh refinement. The evolutions start with a small nonspinning black hole just outside the ISCO that orbits twice before plunging. We compute the gravitational radiation, as well as the final remnant parameters, and find close agreement with perturbative estimates. We briefly discuss the relevance of these simulations for Advanced LIGO, third-generation ground-based detectors, LISA observations, and self-force computations.  相似文献

Neglecting the self-force,self-energy and radiative effects,we follow the spirit of Wald's gedanken experiment and further discuss whether an extremal Kerr-Newman-AdS(KNA)black hole can turn into a naked singularity when it captures charged and spinning massive particles. It is found that feeding a test particle into an extremal KNA black hole could lead to a violation of cosmic censorship for the black hole.  相似文献

If radiative and self-force effects are neglected, we find that feeding a test particle into a near-extremal KerrNewman-Ad S black hole could lead to destroy their event horizon, giving rise to naked singularities. Hence radiative and self-force effects must be taken into account to further test cosmic censorship. Moreover, the allowed parameter range for this test particle is very narrow, this leaves the possibility of radiative and self-force effects considerations to cure the problem of WCC violation in Kerr-Newman-Ad S spacetime.  相似文献

Using a multipolar expansion we determine the electrostatic potential generated by a point source held fixed in the Schwarzschild metric matched successively with two interior metrics, which describes, respectively, two forms of material distributions. The expression of the potential obtained is reformulated by means of the Copson-Linet potential, valid for the Schwarzschild black hole situation. The self-force acting on the source is then determined. We establish that its expression depends on the material sources of the gravitational field. The transition to the black hole situation is then performed.  相似文献

The black hole information problem provides important clues for trying to piece together a quantum theory of gravity. Discussions on this topic have generally assumed that in a consistent theory of gravity and quantum mechanics, quantum theory is unmodified. In this review, we discuss the black hole information problem in the context of generalisations of quantum theory. In this preliminary exploration, we examine black holes in the setting of generalised probabilistic theories, in which quantum theory and classical probability theory are special cases. We are able to calculate the time it takes information to escape a black hole, assuming that information is preserved. In quantum mechanics, information should escape pure state black holes after half the Hawking photons have been emitted, but we find that this get’s modified in generalisations of quantum mechanics. Likewise the black-hole mirror result of Hayden and Preskill, that information from entangled black holes can escape quickly, also get’s modified. We find that although information exits the black hole as predicted by quantum theory, it is fairly generic that it fails to appear outside the black hole at this point—something impossible in quantum theory due to the no-hiding theorem. The information is neither inside the black hole, nor outside it, but is delocalised.  相似文献

A point particle of mass mu moving on a geodesic creates a perturbation h(mu), of the spacetime metric g(0), that diverges at the particle. Simple expressions are given for the singular mu/r part of h(mu) and its quadrupole distortion caused by the spacetime. Subtracting these from h(mu) leaves a remainder h(R) that is C1. The self-force on the particle from its own gravitational field corrects the world line at O(mu) to be a geodesic of g(0)+h(R). For the case that the particle is a small nonrotating black hole, an approximate solution to the Einstein equations is given with error of O(mu(2)) as mu-->0.  相似文献

We present a practical method for calculating the local gravitational self-force (often called "radiation-reaction force") for a pointlike particle orbiting a Schwarzschild black hole. This is an implementation of the method of mode-sum regularization, in which one first calculates the (finite) contribution to the force due to each individual multipole mode of the perturbation, and then applies a certain regularization procedure to the mode sum. Here we give the values of all the "regularization parameters" required for implementing this regularization procedure, for any geodesic orbit in Schwarzschild spacetime.  相似文献

The surface gravity of Schwarzschild black hole can be quantized from the test particle moving around different energy states analog to the Bohr's atomic model. We have quantized the Hawking temperature and entropy of Schwarzschild black hole from quantization of surface gravity. We also have shown that the change of entropy reduces to zero when the boundary shrinks to very small size.  相似文献

We analytically study the superradiant instability of charged massless scalar field in the background of D-dimensional Reissner–Nordstr¨om(RN) black hole caused by mirror-like boundary condition. By using the asymptotic matching method to solve the Klein–Gordon equation that governs the dynamics of scalar field, we have derived the expressions of complex parts of boxed quasinormal frequencies, and shown they are positive in the regime of superradiance. This indicates the charged scalar field is unstable in D-dimensional Reissner–Nordstr¨om(RN) black hole surrounded by mirror. However, the numerical work to calculate the boxed quasinormal frequencies in this system is still required in the future.  相似文献

We present a practical method for calculating the gravitational self-force, as well as the electromagnetic and scalar self-forces, for a particle in a generic orbit around a Kerr black hole. In particular, we provide the values of all the regularization parameters needed for implementing the (previously introduced) mode-sum regularization method. We also address the gauge-regularization problem, as well as a few other issues involved in the calculation of gravitational radiation reaction in Kerr spacetime.  相似文献

By analyzing the key properties of black holes from the point of view of quantum information, we derive a model‐independent picture of black hole quantum computing. It has been noticed that this picture exhibits striking similarities with quantum critical condensates, allowing the use of a common language to describe quantum computing in both systems. We analyze such quantum computing by allowing coupling to external modes, under the condition that the external influence must be soft‐enough in order not to offset the basic properties of the system. We derive model‐independent bounds on some crucial time‐scales, such as the times of gate operation, decoherence, maximal entanglement and total scrambling. We show that for black hole type quantum computers all these time‐scales are of the order of the black hole half‐life time. Furthermore, we construct explicitly a set of Hamiltonians that generates a universal set of quantum gates for the black hole type computer. We find that the gates work at maximal energy efficiency. Furthermore, we establish a fundamental bound on the complexity of quantum circuits encoded on these systems, and characterize the unitary operations that are implementable. It becomes apparent that the computational power is very limited due to the fact that the black hole life‐time is of the same order of the gate operation time. As a consequence, it is impossible to retrieve its information, within the life‐time of a black hole, by externally coupling to the black hole qubits. However, we show that, in principle, coupling to some of the internal degrees of freedom allows acquiring knowledge about the micro‐state. Still, due to the trivial complexity of operations that can be performed, there is no time advantage over the collection of Hawking radiation and subsequent decoding.  相似文献

We calculate the free energy and the entropy of a scalar field in terms of the brick-wall method in the background of the Schwarzschild–de Sitter space–time. We obtain the entropy of a black hole and the cosmic entropy at nonasymptotic flat space. When the cut-off satisfies the proper condition, the entropy of a black hole is proportional to the area of a black hole horizon, and the cosmic entropy is proportional to the cosmic horizon area.  相似文献

Integrated information has been recently suggested as a possible measure to identify a necessary condition for a system to display conscious features. Recently, we have shown that astrocytes contribute to the generation of integrated information through the complex behavior of neuron–astrocyte networks. Still, it remained unclear which underlying mechanisms governing the complex behavior of a neuron–astrocyte network are essential to generating positive integrated information. This study presents an analytic consideration of this question based on exact and asymptotic expressions for integrated information in terms of exactly known probability distributions for a reduced mathematical model (discrete-time, discrete-state stochastic model) reflecting the main features of the “spiking–bursting” dynamics of a neuron–astrocyte network. The analysis was performed in terms of the empirical “whole minus sum” version of integrated information in comparison to the “decoder based” version. The “whole minus sum” information may change sign, and an interpretation of this transition in terms of “net synergy” is available in the literature. This motivated our particular interest in the sign of the “whole minus sum” information in our analytical considerations. The behaviors of the “whole minus sum” and “decoder based” information measures are found to bear a lot of similarity—they have mutual asymptotic convergence as time-uncorrelated activity increases, and the sign transition of the “whole minus sum” information is associated with a rapid growth in the “decoder based” information. The study aims at creating a theoretical framework for using the spiking–bursting model as an analytically tractable reference point for applying integrated information concepts to systems exhibiting similar bursting behavior. The model can also be of interest as a new discrete-state test bench for different formulations of integrated information.  相似文献

We revisit in detail the paradox of black hole information loss due to Hawking radiation as tunneling. We compute the amount of information encoded in correlations among Hawking radiations for a variety of black holes, including the Schwarzchild black hole, the Reissner–Nordström black hole, the Kerr black hole, and the Kerr–Newman black hole. The special case of tunneling through a quantum horizon is also considered. Within a phenomenological treatment based on the accepted emission probability spectrum from a black hole, we find that information is leaked out hidden in the correlations of Hawking radiation. The recovery of this previously unaccounted for information helps to conserve the total entropy of a system composed of a black hole plus its radiations. We thus conclude, irrespective of the microscopic picture for black hole collapsing, the associated radiation process: Hawking radiation as tunneling, is consistent with unitarity as required by quantum mechanics.  相似文献

Mirror therapy can be used to promote recovery from paralysis in patients with post-stroke hemiplegia, There are a lot of reports that mirror-image observation of the unilateral moving hand enhanced the excitability of the primary motor area (M1) ipsilateral to the moving hand in healthy subjects. but the neural mechanisms underlying its therapeutic effects are currently unclear. To investigate this issue, we used functional magnetic resonance imaging to measure activity in brain regions related to visual information processing during mirror image movement observation. Thirteen healthy subjects performed a finger-thumb opposition task with the left and right hands separately, with or without access to mirror observation. In the mirror condition, one hand was reflected in a mirror placed above the abdomen in the MRI scanner. In the masked mirror condition, subjects performed the same task but with the mirror obscured. In both conditions, the other hand was held at rest behind the mirror. A between-task comparison (mirror versus masked mirror) revealed significant activation in the ipsilateral hemisphere in the anterior intraparietal sulcus (aIP) while performing all tasks, regardless of which hand was used. The right aIP was significantly activated while moving the right hand. In contrast, in the left aIP, a small number of voxels showed a tendency toward activation during both left and right hand movement. The enhancement of ipsilateral aIP activity by the mirror image observation of finger action suggests that bimodal aIP neurons can be activated by visual information. We propose that activation in the M1 ipsilateral to the moving hand can be induced by information passing through the ventral premotor area from the aIP.  相似文献
