A simple method is proposed for the determination and speciation of Mn(II) and Mn(VII) in waters utilizing a macroporous resin, Amberlite XAD-7HP. The batch method was employed and flame atomic absorption spectrometry was used in all determinations. Amberlite XAD-7HP resin was shown to retain Mn(VII) between pH 4 and 12. If the solution contains only one of the species, either Mn(II) or Mn(VII), the resin behaves selectively depending on the pH of the solution. The elution from the sorbent was realized using K2C2O4 in HNO3. The efficiency of the method was checked via spike recovery experiments. The proposed method was successfully applied to industrial wastewater samples and quantitative recoveries (≥96.0%) confirmed the accuracy of the method.  相似文献

Amberlite XAD resins have been employed to a great extent as the sorbent for removing or concentrating organic compounds from different matrices. We present for the first time a systematic study on the sorption of perfluorochemical (PFC) surfactants, an emerging class of environmental contaminants, by XAD-7HP (moderately polar) and XAD-2 (nonpolar). The results show that XAD-7HP can strongly sorb PFCs at circumneutral pH; the isotherm-determined linear sorption coefficient can reach 10(6)L/kg. On the other hand, the sorption coefficient for XAD-2 was two orders of magnitude lower than that for XAD-7HP. PFC sorption on XAD-7HP increased with an increase of the perfluorocarbon chain length of PFC and a decrease of the solution pH, indicating the importance of hydrophobic and electrostatic effects. The sorption coefficient for XAD-7HP reduced markedly with increasing fraction of the organic cosolvent (methanol) in the water-cosolvent mixture; however, the trend could not be predicted by a log-linear cosolvency model. Furthermore, the statistical analysis of column test results showed that after regeneration XAD-7HP can be used at least eight times without significant loss of performance. Finally, the experimental results imply that XAD-7HP sorption of shorter-chained PFCs (≤5 perfluorinated carbons) from water can be thermodynamically favorable.  相似文献

The quaternary ammonium salts, n-butyltrimethylammonium iodide, 1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyltrimethylammonium iodide, n-octadecyltrimethylammonium iodide and tri-n-dodecylmethylammonium iodide were synthesized from commercially available amines and together with n-hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide tested for retention by a series of macroreticular resins (XAD-2, XAD-4, XAD-7, XAD-8 and XAD-11) for use as "surface" ion-exchangers in the chromatography of anions. Exchange-capacity studies of the coated resins showed that the non-polar XAD-2 and XAD-4 resins had retention characteristics superior to those of the polar resins and that pore size in the resin was more important than surface area per unit weight of resin. Tri-n-dodecylmethylammonium salts in XAD-2 gave the highest exchange capacity, with best retention under elution conditions. Columns prepared from this anion-exchanger were used to separate and analyse simple mixtures of anions (chloride, nitrate and sulphate) each within the 1-30 ppm range, by single-column operation with indirect photometric detection and also by conductivity detection with background-ion suppression. Though of use for the determination of anions in simple mixtures, the resolution and performance were generally poorer than those displayed by a commercial (Dionex) column. This is at least partly attributable to the inferior column-packing properties of the granular XAD-resin.  相似文献

In this study, a series of acrylic ester resins with different pore size distribution were prepared successfully by varying the type and the amount of pore-forming agents. In order to inves-tigate the adsorption behavior and mechanism of surfactants on acrylic ester resins, three kinds of surfactants were utilized as adsorbates that were sodium 6-dodecyl benzenesulfonate (6-NaDBS), sodium 1-dodecyl benzene sulfonate (1-NaDBS) and sodium 1-dodecyl sulfonate, respectively. It was observed that the surface area was available in a particular pore size and an appropriate pore size of resins appeared to be more important for the adsorption of surfactants. As compared to commercial acrylic ester resins XAD-7 and HP2MG, 50# and 38# resins exhibited more excellent adsorption properties toward 1-NaDBS and 6-NaDBS. The experimental equilibrium data were fitted to the Langmuir, and double-Langmuir models. Two models provided very good fittings for all resins over the temperature range studied. The investigation indicated that electrostatic attraction and hydrogen bond between resins and surfactants were the main forces and had an obvious effect on adsorption proc-ess.  相似文献

A hydrophilic hyper-cross-linked polymer resin (NDA-702) was synthesized, and the adsorption performance of dimethyl phthalate (DMP) on NDA-702 was compared with that on the commercial hydrophobic macroporous resin (Amberlite XAD-4) and granular activated carbon (AC-750). The kinetic adsorption of DMP onto NDA-702 and AC-750 is limited mainly by intraparticle diffusion and obeys the pseudo-second-order rate model, while the uptake on XAD-4 is limited mainly by film diffusion and follows the pseudo-first-order rate model. All the associated adsorption isotherms are well described by the Freundlich equation, and the larger uptake and stronger affinity of NDA-702 than AC-750 and XAD-4 probably result from the microporous structure, phenyl rings, and polar groups on NDA-702 polymer matrix. An interesting observation is that in the aqueous phase all the adsorbents spontaneously adsorb DMP driven mainly by enthalpy change, but the hydrophilic nature of NDA-702 and AC-750 surfaces results in less entropy change compared to hydrophobic XAD-4. Dynamic adsorption studies show that the high breakthrough and the total adsorption capacities of NDA-702 are 388 and 559 mg per gram dry resin at 313 K. Nearly 100% regeneration efficiency for the resin was achieved by methanol at 313 K.  相似文献

Preparative isolation of terpene trilactones from Ginkgo biloba leaves   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This study investigated and compared some techniques for the preparative isolation of terpene trilactones, including ginkgolides (GA and GB, etc.) and bilobalide (BB), from Ginkgo biloba leaves. The crude Ginkgo biloba L. extracts (GBE) were prepared using an extractor with solvent refluxing operated under an optimal extraction condition. The extraction yield was 20-23% and the purity of terpene trilactones was about 1.0-1.4 wt%. Before the isolation operations, the extracts were dissolved in de-ionized water. The isolation procedures included the method of liquid-liquid extraction and the method of column chromatography. For the method of liquid-liquid extraction using ethyl acetate as the organic solvent operated under the optimal extraction conditions, the purity, concentration ratio, and yield of terpene trilactones were 13.5-18.0%, 15-16, and >99%. For the method of column chromatography, XAD-7HP, XAD-4, and C-18 adsorbents with different polarities were used as the packing materials. Only for the XAD-7HP column, a part of more polar impurities was efficiently separated with the majority of terpene trilactones by a proper step-gradient elution, which resulted in an efficient isolation: the purity, concentration ratio, and yield of terpene trilactones were approximately 20, approximately 15, and approximately 80%. In comparison, the XAD-7HP column achieved the highest purity, but at the expense of the yield of terpene trilactones; on the contrary, the liquid-liquid extraction method, achieving the highest yield but with a slightly lower purity, was proved to be superior to the method of column chromatography in the current isolation stage.  相似文献

通过静态吸附实验,研究了XAD-4,NDA-100和ND-90吸附树脂对水溶液中2-噻吩乙酸的吸附热力学及动力学特性,结果表明,2-噻吩乙酸在XAD-4树脂上是单层吸附,符合Langmuir等温吸附方程,吸附过程符合准一级动力学吸附方程.2-噻吩乙酸在NDA-100和ND-90树脂上的吸附也能用Langmuir等温吸附方程表示,但并不只是单层吸附,而主要是由毛细管凝聚和微孔填充作用造成的吸附,吸附过程可分为大孔和中孔区的吸附以及微孔区的吸附两个阶段,两个阶段都符合准一级动力学吸附方程.  相似文献

Abstract

Three Amberlite polymeric resins, XAD-2, XAD-4 and XAD-7, were evaluated for extraction efficiency from aqueous media of several organic compounds representing pesticides, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, phenols and phthalate esters. The three resins exhibited different extraction characteristics. The extraction efficiency of the resins was found to be dependent on pH conditions and, on the average, was best at pH7. At this pH the XAD-2 and XAD-4 resins yielded quantitative recoveries in the 90–100% range for most compounds at the 20–200ppb level. Recoveries by XAD-7 resins were lower for several compounds. The recovery of aldrin and o, p DDT under all conditions was relatively low (>68%) and showed a higher degree of variability than that obtained for the other compounds. Alkaline pH conditions were generally unfavourable for the extraction of phenolic compounds but acidification to pH2 was not found to be a necessary step for the quantitative extraction of the phenolic compounds. Acidification to pH2 further led to a decrease in the recovery of most compounds for XAD-4 resins. A combined resin column yielded extraction efficiencies comparable to the XAD-2 column at pH 7, but since the three resins possess different extraction characteristics, a mixture comprising all three is recommended for the preconcentration of organic compounds from environmental water samples containing a wide range of compounds.  相似文献

Aquatic humic solutes were separated in parallel by the non-ionic macroporous DAX-8 and XAD-8 resins from four different fresh water sources. On average, the sorptive power of the DAX-8 resin does not differ systematically from that of the XAD-8 resin. The DAX-8 resin seems to have more precise column characteristics compared with the XAD-8 resin. There was no significant difference between the major elemental compositions of the parallel humic-solute bulks obtained by these two resins. According to the (13)C NMR spectroscopy the content and quality of aliphatic carbons, especially those representing terminal methyl groups or methylene carbons, were the most systematic and powerful discriminating factors between the humic extracts obtained by these two resins. Generally speaking the DAX-8 and XAD-8 resins seem to isolate humic-solute bulks almost equally, although the content of aliphatics is slightly greater for the former, producing mixtures with similar structural compositions for general purposes. The structural composition and quantity of the humic-solute mixture isolable with a weakly basic DEAE-cellulose anion exchange resin differs partially from any humic fraction obtained by non-ionic sorbing solids. The environmental impact was also visible on the quality of the structural fine-chemistry of the different humic isolates obtained both by the DAX-8 and XAD-8 resins.  相似文献

A tandem column solid phase extraction (SPE) procedure has been devised to examine the fractionation of Fe in wine. Wine was filtered through a 0.45 μm filter and then, the filtrate was driven through an adsorbing Amberlite XAD-7HP column followed by a cation exchange Dowex 50W-x8-200 column. Three different Fe groupings are discriminated and assessed, including hydrophobic species of Fe bound to phenolic substances and related species (phenolic fraction), cationic species comprising simple Fe ions and labile Fe forms (cationic fraction), in addition to anionic and/or neutral Fe complexes with organic acids (residual fraction). The suitability of the procedure has been evaluated analyzing four bottled red wines. The results obtained were verified using another tandem column assemblage in which an adsorbing Amberlite XAD-16 column was exchanged by the Amberlite XAD-7HP column. The fractionation pattern ascertained for Fe in analyzed wines is discussed in reference to previously published works. In addition, a conditioning treatment and preparation of Amberlite XAD resins have been revised.  相似文献

Adsorptive removal of aromatic compounds from aqueous solutions by polymeric adsorbents has attracted many concerns in recent years. A comparative adsorption study including equilibria, kinetics and column dynamics of β-naphthol from aqueous solutions was carried out using two hypercrosslinked polymeric adsorbents (HJ-1 and TEPA) we developed and two commercial polymeric adsorbents (XAD-4 and XAD-7). The adsorption isotherms could be well described by the Freundlich equation, and the adsorption equilibrium capacities of β-naphthol followed an order of q(e)((TEPA))>q(e)((HJ-1))>q(e)((XAD-4))>q(e)((XAD-7)). The isosteric adsorption enthalpies on HJ-1 and TEPA decreased with increasing adsorption fractional loading, while a constant enthalpy was observed for XAD-4 and XAD-7, implying that HJ-1 and TEPA had a heterogeneous surface while XAD-4 and XAD-7 possessed a homogenous surface. The surface energetic heterogeneity of HJ-1 and TEPA could be well characterized by the Do's model. The adsorption kinetics were fitted by both pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order rate equations, and the intra-particle diffusion was found to be the rate-limiting step. The adsorption breakthrough data were well correlated by the Thomas and Clark models, and the dynamic capacities for TEPA, HJ-1, XAD-4 and XAD-7 adsorbents were calculated to be 341.7, 321.6, 268.0 and 173.8 mg/g dry resin, which were within 90% of the corresponding equilibrium capacities obtained in the batch experiments.  相似文献

Three different types of polymer networks (polymer resins) were investigated by flow microcalorimetry and selective liquid sorption from 1-propanol(1)-water(2) mixtures. Type 1 network structure is formed by non-polar, non-swelling, macroporous resins (Amberlite XAD-2, Amberlite XAD-4). The composite isotherms for alcohol sorption were S-shaped. 1-Propanol is preferentially sorbed up to x1≈0.5. Macroreticular non-ionic resins, Amberlite XAD-7 and XAD-8, represent the second type of polymer structure. These particles have a considerable extent of swelling in the binary liquid mixture and 1-propanol was preferentially sorbed by the polymer. The composite isotherms were U-shaped and exhibit maxima and minima. The third type of network structure is attached to macroreticular polar, hydrophilic ion-exchange resins (Chelite-S, Amberlyste A-21). Depending on the composition range of the binary liquid mixture, the resins may swell to a different extent and water is preferentially embeded in the porous polymer network. The swelling of the polymer networks was monitored by the gravimetric technique in separate experiments. The sorption capacity determined from the liquid uptake of the resins was related to the sorption capacity derived from the reduced surface excess. The enthalpy effect accompanying the sorption process was determined by flow and immersion microcalorimetry. The enthalpy of displacement isotherms reveals differences in polarity and swelling ability of the polymer network fairly well. Structural changes in the adsorption layers and formation of alcohol-water clusters on the surfaces play an important role.  相似文献

The recovery efficiencies of XAD resins −2, −4, −7, and −8 and of resin mixtures were measured using distilled water samples containing 13 organic pollutants. An equal-weight mixture of XAD-4 and XAD-8 was most efficient. XAD-2 and XAD-4/8 were further terted and found effective using tapwater. Carbon was tested as a sorbent for materials not well retained by the resins. In-column solvent washing before sample sorption was found to be as effective as Soxhlet extraction for removing background impurities. Some compounds can be desorbed from carbon by in-column solvent elution; others require Soxhlet extraction. An XAD-4/8 column in series with a carbon column was used to sample 1000 1 of tapwater. Halomethanes, n-hydrocarbons, polynuclear aromatic compounds and dibenzofuran in the order of ng/l were identified using a gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer-computer system.  相似文献

The solvent-detergent (S/D) method was applied for inactivation of lipid-enveloped viruses during the production of immunoglobulins. Amberlite XAD-7 resin was used for removal of solvent (tri-n-butyl phosphate, TnBP) and detergent (Triton X-100) after the performed S/D inactivation procedure. The S/D reagents from the immunoglobulin preparation were adsorbed on Amberlite XAD-7, while immunoglobulins passed through the column and retained their biological activity. Using the method developed here, the final immunoglobulin preparation contains less than 1 ppm of Triton X-100 and less than 2 ppm TnBP.  相似文献

Abstract

The extraction efficiencies of the three commercially available Ambersorb®, carbonaceous, polymeric resins, XE-340, XE-347 and XE-348 were evaluated for their use as sorbents for environmental pollutants using four model, radio-labelled water-borne organic contaminants. Their accumulation behaviour was compared with that of the thoroughly-studied Amberlite®, macroreticular XAD-2 (hydrophobic) and XAD-7 (hydrophilic) resins. These model compounds were desorbed from the resins using known volumes of commonly-used solvents to select the solvent for a particular resin(s). In this preliminary study, at <4 μg/L concentrations of the labelled compounds in aqueous solution (pH 5.78), the order of extraction efficiency of the resins was found to be XAD-2 > XAD-7 > XE-340?-347?-348 for organics. Several inherent impurities originally present in the carbonaceous resins were desorbed by solvents during elution. These resins therefore required exhaustive soxhlet purification prior to use. Most of the impurities were identified by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.  相似文献

A method for the determination of morpholine in air was developed. Samples were collected with adsorbent tubes containing XAD-2 resin coated with 1-naphthylisothiocyanate (NIT). The thiourea derivative formed was subsequently desorbed with acetonitrile and analysed by HPLC with UV detection. The recovery after gas phase spiking with morpholine (2.2-1570 micrograms) was 91% (86-100%) with a relative standard deviation of 5.5%. No effect on recovery from relative humidity or amount of morpholine was seen. The lowest level tested corresponded to 7 mg m-3 (1/10 threshold limit value) for a 15 min sampling period with a sampling rate of 20 ml min-1. Exposed NIT-coated XAD-2 tubes were stable at room temperature for at least 2 weeks.  相似文献

The Amberlite XAD resins coated with dithiosemicarbazones were prepared and their collection behavior of metal ions from aqueous solution was investigated. Among the resins used, the reagent-loaded Amberlite XAD-7 was found to be superior for the collection of metal ions to other reagent-loaded resins used. The quantitative collection of mercury(II), palladium(II) and copper(II) was obtained from acidic medium, while cadmium(II) and lead(II) was obtained from neutral medium by the Amberlite XAD-7 resin coated with dimethylglyoxal bis(4-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazone) (DMBS). These metal ions collected on the resin were easily eluted with a small volume of N,N-dimethylformamide as their DMBS chelates. This collection-elution method was applied to the determination of their metal ions by reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography with a spectrophotometric detection.  相似文献

 Chelating resins prepared by sorption of 2-(5-bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-(diethylamino)phenol (5-BrPADAP) on macroporous resins (Amberlite XAD-4 and XAD-7) were characterized. The adsorption properties (amount of chelating agent adsorbed per gram of resin, sorption kinetics, retention capacity, etc.) and the thermodynamic quantities of each adsorption process were determined. The retention of some rare earth elements (e.g. Er, Yb and Lu) on these chelating resins was studied in order to preconcentrate them for their determination by X-Ray fluorescence spectrometry.
