In this paper we study the automorphism groups of models of Peano Arithmetic. Kossak, Kotlarski, and Schmerl [9] shows that the stabilizer of an unbounded element a of a countable recursively saturated model of Peano Arithmetic M is a maximal subgroup of Aut(M) if and only if the type of a is selective. We extend this result by showing that if M is a countable arithmetically saturated model of Peano Arithmetic, Ω ? M is a very good interstice, and a ∈ Ω, then the stabilizer of a is a maximal subgroup of Aut(M) if and only if the type of a is selective and rational (© 2010 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. We prove that there is the universal space for the class of n-dimensional separable metric spaces in the Cartesian product K1×?×Kn+1 of Peano curves without free arcs. It is also shown that the set of embeddings of any n-dimensional separable metric space X into this universal space is a residual set in C(X,K1×?×Kn+1). This article focuses on a form of instructional design that is deemed fitting for reform mathematics education. Reform mathematics education requires instruction that helps students in developing their current ways of reasoning into more sophisticated ways of mathematical reasoning. This implies that there has to be ample room for teachers to adjust their instruction to the students' thinking. But, the point of departure is that if justice is to be done to the input of the students and their ideas built on, a well-founded plan is needed. Design research on an instructional sequence on addition and subtraction up to 100 is taken as an instance to elucidate how the theory for realistic mathematics education (RME) can be used to develop a local instruction theory that can function as such a plan. Instead of offering an instructional sequence that “works,” the objective of design research is to offer teachers an empirically grounded theory on how a certain set of instructional activities can work. The example of addition and subtraction up to 100 is used to clarify how a local instruction theory informs teachers about learning goals, instructional activities, student thinking and learning, and the role of tools and imagery.  相似文献

We consider a set of probability measures on a locally compact separable metric space. It is shown that a necessary and sufficient condition for (relative) sequential compactness of in various weak topologies (among which the vague, weak and setwise topologies) has the same simple form; i.e. a uniform principle has to hold in . We also extend this uniform principle to some Köthe function spaces.

Let {X t : 0 ≦ t ≦ 1} be a centered stationary Gaussian process, with correlation function satisfying the condition ρ(t) = 1 − t β L(t), 0 < β < 2, and let L be a slowly varying function at zero. Observing the process at points i/N, i = 0,1,..., N and considering |X i/N X (i-1)/N | p with p > 0, we study the properties of the Donsker line associated with p-th order variations . We also study the relationship between the number of crossings of a regularization of the initial process and the local time of the initial process. The results depend on the values of β.
