Using the method of nonlinear polarization spectroscopy in the oppositely propagating laser beams of different power at a wavelength of 3.39 μm, we study, both theoretically and experimentally, the mechanisms of the formation of dichroism and birefringence during the interaction of arbitrarily polarized fields of resonant radiation with gaseous methane under conditions of low pressure of the gas in the cell and saturation of the operating transition F 2 (2) by the field of a strong wave. Spectral forms of the polarization resonances of the test-wave intensity at the output of the polarization spectrometer are studied experimentally. Based on the vector theory of light interaction with matter, we present an exhaustive theoretical interpretation of the experimental data on the dependence of the polarization state of a weak wave on the intensity of a linearly or circularly polarized high-power counterpropagating wave. A spatial Fourier transform approach is proposed to investigate the effects of polarization changes and beam profile deformation of light during acousto-optic (AO) interaction in isotropic media. The behaviour of the total scattered optical fields inside the AO cell can be properly described by a vector wave equation of which the permittivity is perturbed by an acoustic wave propagating inside the medium. In the Bragg regime, using a spatial Fourier transform approach, two coupled differential equations can be derived from the wave equation to depict AO interaction in the spatial frequency domain. Analytic solutions, which comprise the effects of changing polarization, beam deformation and propagating diffraction, can be found from the coupled equations. Detailed numerical simulations, including Fourier transforming the incident light profile to calculate the spectra of the scattered light beams and, hence, their profiles in space using the inverse transform, are presented.  相似文献

This research explores the acoustic-elastodynamic interaction in isotropic fractal media. The analysis discusses the direct coupling of two constitutive models under dynamic loading: a continuous solid and an isotropic fractal medium. We consider two situations where in the first, the fractal medium is enclosed within a thin spherical shell (interior problem), while in the second, the fractal medium extends infinitely outside the shell (exterior problem). The two problems are simulated analytically, and the exact solution for the shell displacement is expressed in closed form in the Laplace domain. The formulation of the radiation condition for infinite fractal media is essential to derive the exterior problem’s solution. This study represents a meaningful idealization of real-application problems involving the interaction of multi-constitutive media, e.g. the human brain, whereby fractal features affect the response of this body under various excitations.  相似文献

Collinear acousto-optic diffraction of an arbitrarily polarized optical radiation is studied theoretically and experimentally. It is shown that in the general case the diffracted light spectrum at the acousto-optic cell output consists of four components with different frequencies and polarizations. Beatings of these components lead to intensity modulation of the light passed through an output analyzer. Dependences of output intensity components on ultrasound frequency and acoustic power are examined for different orientations of the polarizer and the analyzer. Experimental investigations are carried out with a collinear acousto-optic cell fabricated with calcium molybdate single crystal.  相似文献

The two well-known magneto-optic phenomena: the Faraday and Cotton-Mouton effects describe behavior of optically isotropic medium in the external magnetic field which is parallel or perpendicular to the wave propagation direction, respectively. In this work we present a study of the effects of easy axis alignment on coupling effects in recording media. We have studied both particulate and thin film media representing both flexible and rigid disc materials. The texture in the systems has been determined via measurements of the angular dependence of remanence and the coupling determined using the well-established ΔM technique. In particulate media only dipolar coupling is present whereas in thin films intergranular exchange effects also occur. In our thin film samples the exchange coupling is weak so that dipolar effects dominate. We find that the dipolar effects in both systems increase with texture, increasing their dominance over exchange effects.  相似文献

We demonstrate that weak parametric interaction of a fundamental beam with its harmonic field in a Kerr medium can drastically modify the beam dynamics, giving rise to very complex bifurcation phenomena and quasi solitons. Most importantly, we reveal a novel physical mechanism of the collapse suppression in a bulk optical Kerr medium: parametric coupling to a weakly radiating harmonic field.  相似文献

Diffusion of moving particles in stationary disordered media is studied using a phenomenological mode-coupling theory. The presence of disorder leads to a generalized diffusion equation, with memory kernels having power law long time tails. The velocity autocorrelation function is found to decay like t–(d/2+1), while the time correlation function associated with the super-Burnett coefficient decays liket –d/2 for long times. The theory is applicable to a wide variety of dynamical and stochastic systems including the Lorentz gas and hopping models. We find new, general expressions for the coefficients of the long time tails which agree with previous results for exactly solvable hopping models and with the low-density results obtained for the Lorentz gas. Finally we mention that if the moving particles are charged, then the long time tails imply that there is an d/2 contribution to the low-frequency part of the frequency-dependent electrical conductivity.  相似文献

We study the Ruderman-Kittle-Kasuya-Yosida (RKKY) interaction in doped armchair nanotube in the presence of gap parameter. The effects of both next nearest neighbor hopping parameter and electron-Holstein phonon on RKKY interaction have been addressed. RKKY interaction as a function of distance between localized moments have been analyzed. In order to calculate the exchange interaction along arbitrary direction between two magnetic moments, we should obtain the transverse static spin susceptibility of armchair graphene nanoribbon in the presence of electron-phonon coupling and gap parameter. The spin susceptibility components are calculated using Green’s function approach for Holstein model Hamiltonian. The effects of electron doping on dependence of exchange interaction on distance between moments are investigated via calculating correlation function of spin density operators. Our results show the influences of next nearest neighbor hopping parameter on the spatial behavior of RKKY interactions are different in the presence of electron phonon coupling.  相似文献

An optical ring cavity filled with an isotropic medium is driven externally. Two waves of the same frequency but of different polarization are coupled nonlinearly by a Kerr type interaction. It is theoretically shown that the symmetry of the linear polarized input field may be broken spontaneously. Beyond an intensity threshold the output field gets elliptic polarization. Dynamic polarization potentials generated by inelastic excitations of the projectile or target nuclei for three scattering systems are compared. Effects due to excitations to bound/unbound states as well as due to different multipolarities are studied. It is shown that the potentials exhibit similar radial dependence at large projectile-target separations; real parts change with the increased radius from repulsive to attractive while imaginary parts, close to zero or even emissive at the nuclear surface, are becoming absorptive at large distances. This general tendency is a consequence of the interplay between Coulomb and nuclear forces.  相似文献
