Poly(ether ether ketone)s containing alkyl groups were prepared by nucleophilic substitution reaction of alkyl-substituted difluoro diaryl ethers with hydroquinone or by electrophilic substitution reaction of alkyl-substituted diaryl ether with 4,4′-oxydibenzoic acid in PPMA. Polycondensations proceeded smoothly and produced polymers having inherent viscosities up to 0.5-–1.6 dL/g. The polymers were quite soluble in strong acid, dipolar aprotic solvents, and chloroform at room temperature. Thermogravimetry of the polymers showed excellent thermal stability, indicating that 10% weight loses of the polymers were observed in the range above 450°C in nitrogen atmosphere. The glass transition temperatures of the polymers ranged from 128 to 146°C. Furthermore, Polymer 3b functioned as a photosensitive resist of negative type for UV radiation. The resist had a sensitivity of 42 mJ/cm2 and a contrast of 2.5, when it was postbaked at 100°C for 10 min, followed by development with THF/acetone at room temperature. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Bis(4-oxybenzoic acid) tetrakis(phenoxy) cyclotriphosphazene (IUPAC name: 4-[4-(carboxyphenoxy)-2,4,6,6-tetraphenoxy-1,3,5,2λ5,4λ5,6λ5-triazatriphosphinin-2-yl]oxy-benzoic acid) was synthesized and direct polycondensed with diphenylether or 1,4-diphenoxybenzene in Eaton's reagent at the temperature range of 80–120°C for 3 hours to give aromatic poly(ether ketone)s. Polycondensations at 120°C gave polymer of high molecular weight. Incorporation of cyclotriphosphazene groups in the aromatic poly(ether ketone) backbone greatly enhanced the solubility of these polymers in common organic polar solvents. Thermal stabilities by TGA for two polymer samples of polymer series ranged from 390 to 354°C in nitrogen at 10% weight loss and glass transition temperatures (Tg) ranged from 81.4 to 89.6°C by DSC. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. As distinguished from the conventional preparation of poly(aryl ether ketone)s utilizing 4,4′‐difluorobenzophenone, a novel synthetic method of high molecular weight poly(phthalazinone ether ketone) derived from 4,4′‐dichlorobenzophenone was studied. Reaction conditions to get high molecular weight polymer were investigated in details. Experimentally, sulfolane was chosen as the reaction media and high molecular weight polymer could be obtained in 7–8 hr at 210°C. The cyclic oligomers in the polymer product reduced to below 3.0% when the concentration of the reactant is 1.6–1.7 g/ml. Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR), 1H NMR, and elemental analysis were used to confirm the structure of the obtained polymer. The amorphous polymer showed reasonable solubility in selective solvent, such as chloroform and N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone, and tough, flexible, and transparent thin film can be readily prepared from their N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone solution. The obtained polymer showed high glass transition temperature (Tg) up to 261°C detected by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and the temperature of 5% weight loss under nitrogen higher than 500°C detected by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), indicating its excellent thermal stability. Crystalline poly(arylene ether nitrile) could be prepared by the polycondensation of 2,6-dihalobenzonitrile with resorcinol at 200°C in N-methylpyrrolidone in the presence of sodium carbonate. A reaction temperature of at least 200°C was necessary to attain high molecular weight polymer. Spectral data indicated that the polymer had the structure of a poly(meta-phenylene ether) with pendent nitrile groups on every other phenylene unit. Despite this structure, the crystallinity and the crystallization rate of the polymer were greater than those of the corresponding polymer with a para-linked structure. The glass transition temperature and the melting temperature of the polymer were almost the same as those of poly(etheretherketone) (PEEKTM). A series of other new poly(arylene ether nitriles) were also examined. The polymers derived from 4,4′-biphenol, dihydroxytetra-phenylmethane, dihydroxydiphenylsulfone, and 1,5-isoquinolinediol had high glass transition temperatures. The poly(arylene ether nitriles) exhibited excellent tensile strength compared with the corresponding ketone- or sulfone-containing polymers. Comparing the three different kinds of polymers containing the same bisphenol units, the order of glass transition temperature was found to be sulfone- > nitrile- > ketone-containing polymers, while the order of tensile strength was nitrile- > ketone- > sulfone-containing polymers. The excellent mechanical properties are attributable to dipole-dipole interactions of nitrile groups. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The radiation-induced ionic polymerization of isobutyl vinyl ether was investigated under conditions where the monomer was dried with molecular sieves. The investigation covered the temperature range from ?16°C to 90°C, and the dose-rate range from 1015 to 1020 eV/g-sec, using both γ-rays and electrons. A very high overall activation energy of 15.9 kcal/mole was found for the process below 30°C. Above 30°C, however, the value of the overall activation energy dropped to 4.9 kcal/mole, a phenomenon which is ascribed to the solvation of the propagating carbonium ion below 30°C. The dose-rate dependence of the rate of polymerization was found to be 0.58 over the entire dose-rate range investigated. The molecular weight of the polymer was found to be far less sensitive to trace amounts of water than the rate of polymerization. The molecular weight of the polymer depended strongly on the irradiation temperature, reaching a maximum value of about 120,000 at 35°C. It is shown that at temperatures above 20°C regenerative chain transfer processes play an important role in determining the molecular weight of the polymer.  相似文献

New fluorinated, polyfunctional propenyl ether functionalized resins were synthesized, and their behavior in cationic photopolymerization was investigated. The photopolymerization proceeded efficiently with a high double‐bond conversion (>90%), giving rise to UV‐cured coatings characterized by low glass‐transition temperatures (?33 °C ≤ glass‐transition temperature ≤ ?15 °C) and hydrophobic surface properties. A fluorinated additive was also employed as a reactive additive in the cationic photopolymerization of trimethylolpropane tripropenyl ether, increasing the double‐bond conversion, polymer network flexibility, thermal stability, and surface hydrophobicity. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Anilinium hexafluoroantimonate is shown to be a very efficient cationic initiator for the polymerization of ethyl vinyl ether from ?78°C to 25°C. The polymer molecular weight varied with temperature and solvent and ranged from very low to near 200,000. After a threshold concentration of catalyst had been obtained, yields were semiquantitative. The catalyst requirement was quite low, near quantitative yields being obtained at concentrations as low as 10?3 mole-%. Polymer obtained in heptane had a small degree of isotacticity.  相似文献

Crosslinkable alkyl-substituted poly(aryl ether ketone)s (PEKs) bearing a styryl group at both chain ends were synthesized by nucleophilic substitution reaction of 1,1′-(p-phenyl-enedioxy)bis[2-methyl-4-(4-fluorobenzoyl)benzene] with an excess aromatic diol in the presence of a base, followed by the reaction of the terminal phenol group with chloromethylstyrene. The aromatic diols used in this study were hydroquinone and resorcinol. The molecular weight of the polymer determined by GPC and 1H NMR agreed with each other and close to the theoretical value calculated from the feed ratio. The polymer was soluble in N,N-dimethylacetamide and tetrahydrofuran, but insoluble in acetone and methanol. From DSC analysis, the polymer was thermally crosslinked around 220°C. The addition of dicumyl peroxide as a radical generator in the polymer decreased the curing temperature. The cured polymer showed high thermal stability up to 420°C under nitrogen. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Two series of novel amorphous poly(aryl ether phthalazine)s have been prepared via an intramolecular ring closure reaction of poly(aryl ether ketone)s (PAEKs) with hydrazine monohydrate. Fluorinated PAEKs, which display solubility in solvents incorporating a ketone functionality such as acetone or ethyl acetate, were converted to poly(aryl ether phthalazine)s to observe if these polymers would display similar solubility characteristics. The poly(aryl ether phthalazine)s have glass transition temperatures in the range of 278–320°C and show 5% weight loss points greater than 500°C in air and nitrogen atmospheres. The fluorinated poly(aryl ether phthalazine)s were not soluble in ketonic solvents. A series of poly(aryl ether phthalazine)s incorporating pendant 2-naphthalenyl moieties has been prepared in an attempt to produce amorphous, thermally stable polymers with high glass transition temperatures. The polymers have glass transition temperatures in the range of 287–334°C and show 5% weight loss points greater than 500°C in air and nitrogen atmospheres. Poly(aryl ether phthalazine)s undergo an exothermic reaction above the glass transition temperature. The major product of this reaction is a rearrangement of the phthalazine moieties to quiazoline moieties, however some crosslinking of the polymers occurs. Cured samples of the poly(aryl ether phthalazine)s show a small increase in the polymer Tg and are insoluble in all solvents tested. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Poly(aryl ether phthalazine)s were found to undergo an exothermic reaction at a temperature range of 360–440°C. We elucidated the origin of the exothermic reaction and the physiochemical phenomena associated with it, based on thermal analyses, model compound studies, and 13C solid-state NMR studies. At elevated temperatures, polymers containing a diphenylphthalazine moiety 4 underwent extensive thermal crosslinking reactions as a result of a nitrogen elimination reaction of the phthalazine moiety. However, polymers containing the tetraphenyl or hexaphenyl phthalazine moiety 5 and 6 were found to undergo principally a backbone rearrangement reaction, in which the phthalazine moiety rearranged to a quinazoline. Utilizing this efficient thermal rearrangement of polyphenylated phthalazines, we have prepared a novel activated difluoride, 2,4-bis(4-fluorophenyl)-,5,6,7,8-tetraphenylquinazoline 9d, which underwent high-temperature solution polycondensation with BPA to give the quinazoline containing poly(aryl ether) 14. Polymer 14 is amorphous, has a glass transition temperature of 264°C, and has high thermooxidative stability with 5% weight loss being recorded at 514°C in nitrogen. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A new cardo diamine monomer 3, 3‐bis‐[4‐{2′trifluoromethyl 4′‐(4″‐aminophenyl) phenoxy} phenyl]‐2‐phenyl‐2, 3‐dihydro‐isoindole‐1‐one ( 4 ) has been synthesized from potentially cheap phenolphthalein as the starting material. This diamine was used for the synthesis of a new poly(ether amide) and two co‐poly(ether amide)s using 4, 4′‐diaminodiphenyl ether (ODA) as co‐monomer by direct solution polycondensation with 5‐t‐butyl iso‐phthalic acid. These new polymers showed inherent viscosities of 0.48–0.62 dL g?1. The resulting poly(ether amide) and co‐poly(ether amide)s were readily soluble in polar aprotic solvents like NMP, DMF, DMAc, DMSO, and pyridine. The polymers have been fully characterized by 1H and 13C NMR, FTIR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. These polymers showed glass transition temperatures in the range of 267–310°C. Thermogravimetric analysis indicated high thermal stability of these polymers at 5 and 10% weight loss temperature in air above 357°C and 419°C, respectively. The poly(ether amide) films cast from DMAc were flexible with tensile strength up to 91 MPa, elongations at break up to 11%, and modulus of elasticity up to 1.82 GPa. X‐ray diffraction measurements indicate the amorphous nature of the poly(ether amide)s. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The paper describes the sulphonation of commercially available poly(ether ether ketone) PEEK (GATONETM, Gharda Chemicals Limited, India and VICTREX®, ICI Limited, UK) by using concentrated sulphuric acid. The concentration of GATONE in conc. H2SO4 was varied from 4-10% (w/v) whereas in VICTREX® the concentration was 4% (w/v). The temperature was varied from 35-55°C and the duration of reaction was 3-7 h. Structural characterisation of sulphonated polymers was done by elemental analysis, FT-IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. On the basis of elemental analysis, the extent of sulphonation of GATONE was found to be 57-75%. The extent of sulphonation as determined by 1H-NMR in case of GATONE was in the range of 53-80% and for VICTREX 58-87%. Thermal analysis, proton conductivity and water uptake of these samples were also studied. Proton conductivity of the films was comparable to the perflourinated polymer (Nafion).  相似文献

The polyaddition of bis(3‐ethyl‐3‐oxetanylmethyl) terephthalate (BEOT) with dichlorodiphenylsilane (CPS) using tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) as a catalyst proceeded under mild reaction conditions to afford a polymer containing silicon atoms in the polymer main chain. A poly(silyl ether) (P‐1) with a high molecular weight (Mn = 53,200) was obtained by the reaction of BEOT with CPS in the presence of 5 mol % of TBAB in toluene at 0 °C for 1 h and then at 50 °C for 24 h. The structure of the resulting polymer was confirmed by IR and 1H NMR spectra. Furthermore, it was proved that the polyaddition of certain bis(oxetane)s with dichlorosilanes proceeds smoothly to give corresponding poly(silyl ether)s with TBAB as the catalyst. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. In this paper, we introduce a novel high-performance polymer, poly(imino imino ether ether ketone ketone), which has been synthesized by the palladium-catalyzed C-N cross coupling reaction of 1,4-bis-(4-bromobenzoyl) benzene and 1,3-bis-(4-aminophenoxy) benzene. The structure of the polymer is characterized by means of 1H NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis, and the results show a good agreement with the proposed structure. Compared with traditional poly(ether ether ketone)s, the solubility of the synthesized polymer in common organic solvents was higher; it also exhibited high glass transition temperature (T g = 176°C) and good thermal stability with high decomposition temperature (T 5 = 400°C).  相似文献

Poly(arylene ether)s ( 3 ), ( 4 ) containing pendant benzoyl groups as precursors for novel polyxanthenes ( 7 ), ( 8 ) were prepared by nucleophilic substitution reaction of 2,5-difluoro-4-benzoylbenzophenone ( 1 ) or 2,5-difluoro-4-(4-dodecylbenzoyl)-4′-dodecylbenzophenone ( 2 ) with hydroquinone derivatives in the presence of potassium carbonate in N,N-dimethylacetamide. The polycondensation proceeded smoothly at 165°C and produced poly(arylene ether)s with inherent viscosities up to 0.80 dL/g. The novel polyxanthenes were synthesized via the reduction of poly(arylene ether)s followed by the Friedel-Crafts cyclization of diol polymers. The structure of the polyxanthenes was characterized by 1H-NMR and IR spectroscopies. Polyxanthene 8 was quite soluble in chloroform and THF. The 10% weight loss temperature of polyxanthene 7 was 510°C in nitrogen and it was 90°C higher than the corresponding poly(arylene ether) 3 . © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. As a novel class of proton exchange membrane materials for use in fuel cells, sulfonated poly(phthalazinone ether ketone)s (SPPEKs) were prepared by the modification of poly(phthalazinone ether ketone). Sulfonation reactions were conducted at room temperature with mixtures of 95–98% concentrated sulfuric acid and 27–33% fuming sulfuric acid with different acid ratios, and SPPEK was obtained with a degree of sulfonation (DS) in the desired range of 0.6–1.2. The presence of sulfonic acid groups in SPPEK was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared analysis, and the DS and structures were characterized by NMR. The introduction of sulfonic groups into the polymer chains increased the glass‐transition temperature above the decomposition temperature and also led to an overall decrease in the decomposition temperature. Membrane films were cast from SPPEK solutions in N,N‐dimethylacetamide. Water uptakes and swelling ratios of SPPEK membrane films increased with DS, and SPPEKs with DS > 1.23 were water‐soluble at 80 °C. Proton conductivity increased with DS and temperature up to 95 °C, reaching 10?2S/cm. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 41: 497–507, 2003  相似文献

The polymerization of 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl vinyl ether by six different catalyst systems was examined. Low-temperature studies (?78°C) with boron trifluoride etherate catalyst in hydrocarbon and chlorinated solvents slowly yielded low molecular weight polymers which were amorphous and noncrystallizable upon cold drawing. Under similar conditions, polymerizations with boron trifluoride gas were spontaneous, quantitative, and gave relatively high molecular weight, form-stable, amorphous polymer. Heterogeneous polymerizations with chromium trioxide crystals in toluene at 68°C and bulk reactions with ethylmagnesium bromide–carbon tetrachloride catalyst at 40°C failed to produce polymer. Room temperature runs with triisobutylaluminum–titanium tetrachloride catalyst gave amorphous, tacky material. Aluminum hexahydrosulfate heptahydrate (AHS) initiated polymerizations conducted at 25 and 60°C gave low yields of mixtures of amorphous and crystalline polymers, the ratio depending upon the polymerization solvent employed. The infrared spectra and x-ray diffraction intensity curves of crystalline and amorphous poly(trifluoroethyl vinyl ether) are reported and compared herein for the first time.  相似文献

The polycondensation of nitrated xylenedihalides with diphenols was carried out under various conditions. The polycondensation of 2-nitro-1, 3-xylylenedibromide (NXDB) with 4,4′-isopropylidenediphenol proceeded in competition with the decomposition of polymer in the mixed solvent of tetrahydrofuran (THF) and dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO). The viscosity of the resulting polymer was markedly affected by the concentration of aqueous sodium hydroxide, reaction time, and reaction temperature. When dibromomethane was used as a solvent, the polycondensation proceeded very smoothly without the decomposition to give a higher reduced viscosity polymer than that in THF-DMSO at 60°C. The polymer obtained in dibromomethane contained a very small amount of formal bonds determined from the 1H-NMR spectrum. The formation of formal bonds seems to cause the molecular weight in increase. Furthemore, the polycondensation of NXDB with 2,2-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) hexafluoropropane afforded high molecular-weight polyether in dibromomethane. However, either high reaction temperatures or the high concentrations of aqueous potassium hydroxide solution casused the viscosity of the resulting polymer to decrease during the polycondensation in dibromomethane. The obtained polyethers with o-nitrobenzyl groups showed relatively good solubility, and decomposed smoothly upon the irradiation with UV light. Therefore, these polymers might be useful for positive type photoresists.  相似文献

A novel series of colorless and highly organosoluble poly(ether imide)s were prepared from 3,3‐bis[4‐(3,4‐dicarboxyphenoxy)phenyl]phthalide dianhydride with various fluorinated aromatic bis(ether amine)s via a conventional two‐stage process that included ring‐opening polyaddition to form the poly(amic acid)s followed by cyclodehydration to produce the polymer films. The poly(ether imide)s showed excellent solubility, with most of them dissoluble at a concentration of 10 wt % in amide polar solvents, in ether‐type solvents, and even in chlorinated solvents. Their films had a cutoff wavelength between 358 and 373 nm, and the yellowness index ranged from 3.1 to 9.5. The glass‐transition temperatures of the poly(ether imide) series were recorded between 237 and 297 °C, the decomposition temperatures at 10% weight loss were all above 494 °C, and the residue was more than 54% at 800 °C in nitrogen. These films showed high tensile strength and also were characterized by higher solubility, lighter color, and lower dielectric constants and moisture absorption than an analogous nonfluorinated polyimide series. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The transport of fluids in the semicrystalline polymer, poly(aryl ether ether ketone) (PEEK), was investigated. Both solubility and rate of penetration of toluene into PEEK are markedly increased by the application of an external stress. The induction period (i.e., the time for the sorption to begin) is a function of applied stress as well as temperature and crystallinity. At 22°C in 29% crystalline PEEK the induction period was reduced from more than 2000 h to approximately 10 h whereas the solubility of toluene was increased from 9 to 44 wt % upon the application of an external tensile stress of 30 MPa. A critical stress (i.e., a stress value below which the stress-enhanced effects are not observed) was determined. The critical stress is a strong function of crystallinity and temperature. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献
