We establish a new theorem of existence (and uniqueness) of solutions to the Navier-Stokes initial boundary value problem in exterior domains. No requirement is made on the convergence at infinity of the kinetic field and of the pressure field. These solutions are called non-decaying solutions. The first results on this topic dates back about 40 years ago see the references (Galdi and Rionero in Ann. Mat. Pures Appl. 108:361–366, 1976, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 62:295–301, 1976, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 69:37–52, 1979, Pac. J. Math. 104:77–83, 1980; Knightly in SIAM J. Math. Anal. 3:506–511, 1972). In the articles Galdi and Rionero (Ann. Mat. Pures Appl. 108:361–366, 1976, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 62:295–301, 1976, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 69:37–52, 1979, Pac. J. Math. 104:77–83, 1980) it was introduced the so called weight function method to study the uniqueness of solutions. More recently, the problem has been considered again by several authors (see Galdi et al. in J. Math. Fluid Mech. 14:633–652, 2012, Quad. <正>This paper presents alternating direction finite volume element methods for three-dimensional parabolic partial differential equations and gives four computational schemes,one is analogous to Douglas finite difference scheme with second-order splitting error,the other two schemes have third-order splitting error,and the last one is an extended LOD scheme.The L~2 norm and H~1 semi-norm error estimates are obtained for the first scheme and second one,respectively.Finally,two numerical examples are provided to illustrate the efficiency and accuracy of the methods. 相似文献

In this paper, a technique of coupling variational formulation of FEM and BIE (boundary integral equation) is used to deal with stationary Navier-Stokes equations in an unbounded domain. We discuss well-posedness for the coupling variational problem, the regularization method and FEM-BEM approximation. In this article, an abstract framework for the error analysis of discontinuous finite element method is developed for the distributed and Neumann boundary control problems governed by the stationary Stokes equation with control constraints. A priori error estimates of optimal order are derived for velocity and pressure in the energy norm and the L2-norm, respectively. Moreover, a reliable and efficient a posteriori error estimator is derived. The results are applicable to a variety of problems just under the minimal regularity possessed by the well-posedness of the problem. In particular, we consider the abstract results with suitable stable pairs of velocity and pressure spaces like as the lowest-order Crouzeix–Raviart finite element and piecewise constant spaces, piecewise linear and constant finite element spaces. In this paper, the penalty-nonconforming finite element method for Stokes equations is considered. An abstract error estimate is given. For Crouzeix-Raviart nonconforming triangular elements, in particular, the analysis shows that the "reduced integration" technique is not necessary in the integration of the penalty term on each element. Finite volume element method for the Stokes problem is considered. We use a conforming piecewise linear function on a fine grid for velocity and piecewise constant element on a coarse grid for pressure. For general triangulation we prove the equivalence of the finite volume element method and a saddle-point problem, the inf-sup condition and the uniqueness of the approximation solution. We also give the optimal order H^1 norm error estimate. For two widely used dual meshes we give the L^2 norm error estimates, which is optimal in one case and quasi-optimal in another ease. Summary. We consider the Maxwell equations in a domain with Lipschitz boundary and the boundary integral operator A occuring in the Calderón projector. We prove an inf-sup condition for A using a Hodge decomposition. We apply this to two types of boundary value problems: the exterior scattering problem by a perfectly conducting body, and the dielectric problem with two different materials in the interior and exterior domain. In both cases we obtain an equivalent boundary equation which has a unique solution. We then consider Galerkin discretizations with Raviart-Thomas spaces. We show that these spaces have discrete Hodge decompositions which are in some sense close to the continuous Hodge decomposition. This property allows us to prove quasioptimal convergence of the resulting boundary element methods.

ABSTRACT If finite element spaces for the velocity and pressure do not satisfy the Babu?ka-Brezzi condition, a stable conforming discretization of the Stokes or Navier-Stokes equations can be obtained by enriching the velocity space by suitable functions. Writing any function from the enriched space as a sum of a function from the original space and a function from the supplementary space, the discretization will contain a number of additional terms compared with a conforming discretization for the original pair of spaces. We show that not all these terms are necessary for the solvability of the discrete problem and for optimal convergence properties of the discrete solutions, which is useful for saving computer memory and for establishing a connection to stabilized methods. 相似文献
