Active Brownian particles are capable of taking up energy from their environment and converting it into directed motion; examples range from chemotactic cells and bacteria to artificial micro-swimmers. We have recently demonstrated that Janus particles, i.e.?gold-capped colloidal spheres, suspended in a critical binary liquid mixture perform active Brownian motion when illuminated by light. In this paper, we investigate in more detail their swimming mechanism, leading to active Brownian motion. We show that the illumination-borne heating induces a local asymmetric demixing of the binary mixture, generating a spatial chemical concentration gradient which is responsible for the particle's self-diffusiophoretic motion. We study this effect as a function of the functionalization of the gold cap, the particle size and the illumination intensity: the functionalization determines what component of the binary mixture is preferentially adsorbed at the cap and the swimming direction (towards or away from the cap); the particle size determines the rotational diffusion and, therefore, the random reorientation of the particle; and the intensity tunes the strength of the heating and, therefore, of the motion. Finally, we harness this dependence of the swimming strength on the illumination intensity to investigate the behavior of a micro-swimmer in a spatial light gradient, where its swimming properties are space-dependent.  相似文献

The acoustical effects of hedges result from a combination of physical noise reduction and their influences on perception. This study investigates the physical noise reduction so as to enable estimation of its relative importance. Different in-situ methods have been used to measure noise shielding by hedges. These include a statistical pass-by experiment where the real insertion loss of a hedge could be measured, three controlled pass-by experiments using a reference microphone at close distance, and transmission loss measurements using a point source. Thick dense hedges are found to provide only a small total A-weighted light vehicle noise reduction at low speeds. Measured insertion losses range from 1.1 dBA to 3.6 dBA. The higher noise reductions are found to be associated with an increased ground effect.  相似文献

本文利用声源辐射阻抗讨论了三维空间有源声吸收问题.推导出适用于任意初级声场条件下的多次级源最优复强度的一般表达式,并通过分析声源辐射阻抗的变化规律阐明了声吸收的机理.在此基础上,以两个点源在平面波声场中的声吸收为例,详细讨论了次级源吸收功率与两源位置的变化关系,并给出消声区域分布规律.最后在半消声室中获得了良好的实验效果,验证了所得结论.  相似文献

Conventional active noise control (ANC) in ducts has been realized with digital signal processing. The physical size of the conventional ANC systems is usually large owing to the signal processing interval, and the cost of the system depends on the price of the digital signal processor (DSP). This paper proposes a new ANC system with an analog neural network circuit, which will process signals in short time periods without DSP. The proposed neural network circuit has a simple structure consisting of analog multipliers and an integrator, and we simulated the performance of the circuit by HSPICE. We also fabricated a circuit connected to a real duct and confirmed operation of the proposed ANC system.  相似文献

We discuss the problem of image restoration when the image is degraded by multiplicative noise. In order to solve this problem, we use as a criterion the minimization of the mean-square error between the restored and the original image. The transfer function of the optimum filter derived in this paper is described by the product of the conjugate of the transfer function of the imaging system and the power spectrum density of the degraded image divided by the convolution of the power spectrum density of the image and that of the noise. Some special cases of the filter are discussed. A numerical experiment has been performed and satisfactory results have been obtained.  相似文献

An optoelectronic feedback loop intended to suppress intensity noise of a light field is introduced in this paper. A maximum intensity noise reduction of 10 dB is experimentally achieved between frequency of 0?140 kHz on a 1064 nm DPSS continuous wave single-frequency solid-state laser. After optimization and miniaturization, this system is expected to be widely used as a simple ?Noise-Eater?.  相似文献

A study is conducted on minimizing the sum of the squared acoustic pressures with a linear array of control sources and a perpendicular linear array of error sensors, placed above the top of a noise barrier. Particular angular orientations, with respect to the center of the barrier top, and spacings of the linear arrays of control sources and error sensors result in moderate to significant additional reduction of the acoustic pressure in the shadow zone. Visual inspection of the sound pressure field, with and without active noise control, found that uniform and significant additional insertion loss can be generated near the barrier. Numerical simulations were conducted to test the proposed method. For separations between control sources and error sensors much less than a quarter wavelength of the primary noise disturbance, results show that the angular orientation, of the combined linear control source and sensor arrays, is a weak factor for acoustic pressure reduction in the shadow zone. Weak angle dependence serves as an advantage to the proposed method, which yields uniform performance for any angular orientation. An angular orientation involving the alignment of the furthest error sensor with the first diffracting edge of the barrier and the primary source was observed to perform well for a variety of frequencies, since the spacing between error sensors and between control sources is of the order of a quarter-wavelength. Improved noise control in the shadow zone of a barrier is achieved by the use of two control sources and angular orientation as mentioned above. Further spatial extension of the area of reduced acoustic pressure is possible by utilizing an increased number of control sources.  相似文献

本文研究了外力激励弹性结构条件下封闭空间有源消声问题。首先根据声弹性理论,提出分步代入法求解初、次级声场,然后以矩形空间为例,研究了不同介质条件下有源消声规律。结果表明:对于弹性结构封闭空间有源消声,当结构一声腔耦合较弱时,次级声源基本上只能抵消声腔模态;当结构一声腔耦合较强时,次级声源不仅能抵消声腔模态,而且对抵消与声腔模态耦合良好的结构模态辐射声也有作用。最后,以有限长圆柱封闭空间为模型,完成了结构受点力激励,腔内为空气介质和水介质条件下的单次级声源有源消声实验。验证了理论结果。  相似文献

Active noise control has been applied to a variety of systems in order to improve performance without the increases in size and weight that would otherwise be required by traditional passive noise control treatments. This paper investigates the application of an active noise control system to the control of generator noise in the master cabin of a luxury yacht. A multichannel, multi-tonal active noise control system employing loudspeakers and microphones in the master cabin of the yacht is investigated. It is shown that, due to the high number of engine orders produced by the generator, in order to achieve significantly perceptible levels of noise attenuation it is necessary to control at least 7 individual orders. A controller is investigated which targets 19 engine orders and it is shown to achieve in excess of 5 dB broadband attenuation, whilst achieving up to 23 dB attenuation in individual orders. This corresponds to a 23% reduction in the Zwicker loudness.  相似文献

A novel form of extended-cavity diode laser attains robust tunable single-frequency operation with narrow linewidth. The laser cavity includes a self-pumped photorefractive phase-conjugate reflector for wavelength-adaptive narrowband feedback and a compact high-finesse tunable intracavity ring filter for single-longitudinal-mode selectivity and control. Its performance around 830 nm is verified with a simple Fabry-Perot laser diode and by Doppler-free two-photon spectroscopy in atomic cesium.  相似文献

We examine the possibility of obtaining Set–Reset latch logical operation in a symmetric bistable system subjected to OU noise. Three major results are presented. First, we prove the Set–Reset latch logical operation can be obtained driven by OU noise. Second, while increasing the correlation time, the optimal noise band shifts to higher level and becomes wider. Meanwhile, peak performance degrades from 100% accuracy, but the system can still perform reliable logical operation. Third, at fixed noise intensity, the success probability evolves non-monotonically as correlation time increases. The study might provide development of the new paradigm of memory device.  相似文献

An atom that couples to two distinct leaky optical cavities is driven by an external optical white noise field. We describe how entanglement between the light fields sustained by two optical cavities arises in such a situation. The entanglement is maximized for intermediate values of the cavity damping rates and the intensity of the white noise field, vanishing both for small and for large values of these parameters and thus exhibiting a stochastic-resonancelike behavior. This example illustrates the possibility of generating entanglement by exclusively incoherent means and sheds new light on the constructive role noise may play in certain tasks of interest for quantum information processing.  相似文献
