Here we have demonstrated a novel architecture of colorless wavelength division multiplexed-passive optical network (WDM-PON) and analyze its performance which is capable of transmitting 10 Gbps data symmetrically in both downstream and upstream. In this architecture downstream data is subcarrier modulated (SCM) using radio frequency (RF) as subcarrier and laser frequency as carrier with the help of a Mach–Zehnder modulator (MZM). For upstream data modulation an electro-absorption modulator, an optical coupler and reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) are used. Upstream data is transmitted through wavelength conversion between pump wavelength and continuous wave light sent from central office (CO) using cross gain modulation (XGM) in RSOA. Pump wavelengths have separate wavelength band than the carrier's wavelength sent from optical network unit (ONU) and can be chosen any one in its band. Since carrier reuse scheme is implemented so all the ONUs are operates in colorless mode. Effect of ER of delay interferometer (DI) on output OCSR of DI for different input OCSR is performed for SCM data. Simulation is performed with all 16 downlink and 16 uplink channels having data rate of 10 Gbps having acceptable performance.  相似文献

A centralized seeding source based loopback WDM-PON is fundamentally limited by Rayleigh backscattering (RB) noise. Here a novel modulation format, called as Coded RZ (CoRZ), is proposed to enhance the system performance in the presence of RB for RSOA based reflective access networks. The result shows that the proposed technique can be effectively improved the tolerance of signal-to-crosstalk ratio (SCR) by about 8 dB and 2.5 dB from conventional NRZ and RZ modulation formats respectively to maintain power penalty ≤ 2 dB.  相似文献

A novel scheme of a remote access unit which is based on an electroabsorption modulator cascaded by a gain-saturated reflective semiconductor optical amplifier is proposed to improve a transmission performance of uplink signal. The cascaded gain-saturated reflective semiconductor optical amplifier plays a role in enhancing linearity of the electroabsorption modulator as well as suppressing dispersion-induced carrier suppression in the uplink transmission using its nonlinear gain property. In the proposed scheme, carrier-to-interference ratio of transmitted 10-GHz band uplink signal was improved by 10.7 dB and the dispersion-induced carrier suppression of 5.65-GHz RF carrier was greatly mitigated by 33.4 dB through the 75.6-km optical link.  相似文献

This paper introduces the mid-span spectral inversion by four-wave mixing in a commercially available semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) with a length of about 1.5~mm to optical label switching network based on combined frequency shift keying (FSK)-intensiy modulation (IM)/optical label-packet modulation to overcome the dispersion limitation of fiber. The 155~Mb/s--10~Gb/s combined FSK/IM signal is experimentally transmitted over a 100~km standard single mode fiber. 10-10 and 109 BER (bit error ratio), or even better, is achieved for the FSK label and IM packet, respectively. The -19~dB power conversion efficiency is obtained for -1~nm wavelength detuning.  相似文献
