We propose a new approach for generating multiple focal spot segment of sub wavelength size, by tight focusing of phase modulated radially polarized hollow Gaussian beam. The focusing properties are investigated theoretically by vector diffraction theory. We observed that focal segment with multiple focal spots structure separated with different axial distance can be generated by properly tuning the phase of the incident radially polarized hollow Gaussian (HGB) beam. Potential applications of this focal shaping technique are also discussed.  相似文献

Focal shift in radially polarized hollow Gaussian beam (HGB) with radial wavefront distribution is investigated theoretically. The wavefront phase distribution is cosine function of radial coordinate. Simulation results show that the intensity distribution in focal region of the radially polarized HGB can be adjusted considerably by the beam order of HGB n and cosine parameter C that indicates the phase change degree. On increasing C, focus can shift along optical axis and focal pattern changes remarkably. Focus may move in different direction under different condition. Focal shift distance fluctuates on increasing C, and fluctuation amplitude also increases simultaneously. In addition, threshold value of C for focal shift from one side to the other side of the paraxial focal plane differs for different n.  相似文献

The focusing properties of radially polarized hollow Gaussian beam (HGB) with on-axis spiral optical vortex are investigated theoretically by vector diffraction theory. The phase wavefront of HGB is the function of radial coordinate. Calculation results show that the focusing properties can be altered considerably by beam order of HGB, topological charge of the on-axis optical vortex, and phase parameter that characterizes the radial phase wavefront distribution. Higher topological charge induces focal evolution from one focal spot to annular focal pattern in transverse direction, while phase parameter can lead to focal shift along optical axis remarkably. In addition, focal shift direction can also be adjusted by changing varying direction of phase parameter.  相似文献

Tight focusing of radially polarized partially coherent vortex beam over a high numerical aperture lens axicon system is introduced and its propagation properties are studied based on vectorial Debye theory. The effect of propagation parameters on the intensity distribution, the polarization property and the coherent property of the beam is illustrated analytically and numerically. It is shown that the correlation length and maximal NA angle has a significant influence on the intensity profile.  相似文献

Focal shift of the radially polarized axisymmetric QBG beam with radial variance phase plate is investigated theoretically by vector diffraction theory. Axisymmetric Bessel modulated Gaussian beam with quadratic radial dependence (QBG beam) has attracted much attention recently. Calculation results show that focus shifts considerably by changing the phase parameter C that indicates the radial phase variance speed. Under condition of beam parameter μ of radially polarized axisymmetric QBG beam, there is one focal spot that shifts far away from optical aperture on increasing C. When increases the value of beam parameter, there may occur two focal peaks that also shift remarkably on increasing C.  相似文献

Focusing properties of the azimuthally polarized beam induced by a pure phase plate are investigated theoretically. The pure phase plate consists of two concentric portions, one center circle portion and one outer annular portion, through which the azimuthally polarized beam passed evolves into concentric piecewise azimuthally polarized beam. When the phase shift of the center portion is π, one ring focus may evolve into novel focal patterns with increasing radius of the center circle portion, such as cylindrical crust focus, two-ring focus, and three-ring focus. And if the geometrical parameters are unchanged, focal patterns also changes considerably with tunable phase of the center portion. Ring focus shifts along the optical axis on the increasing phase. Some optical gradient force distributions and dependence of focal shift on phase shift are also illustrated. This kind of concentric piecewise azimuthally polarized beam can be used in optical manipulation technology.  相似文献

In this article, vector diffraction theory is employed to investigate the focusing properties of the Gaussian beam through a phase plate. The phase plate may alter the wavefront phase of an incoming beam by topological charge. Both the circular phase distribution and the annular phase distribution plates are investigated. Numerical simulations show that the focal intensity distribution depends on topological charge. With changing topological charge, focal intensity distribution may evolve into ring shape, and some novel focal spots may occur. Focal intensity distribution evolving process with integer topological charge differs considerably from that with fraction topological charge. When the concentric annular phase plate is placed in the laser path, the focal intensity distribution depends on both the inner radius and topological charge. For small inner radius of the phase plate, doughnut-shape focal pattern occurs. With increasing inner radius, the diameter of the doughnut focal pattern decreases, and doughnut shape disappears slowly in some cases.  相似文献

The evolution of gradient force pattern induced by an annular phase distribution plate is numerically investigated in this paper. The phase plate, which may alter the wavefront phase of incident Gaussian beam with tunable topological charge, consists of two concentric portions, one center circle portion and one annular portion. Numerical simulations show that the proposed plate can induce the tunable gradient force on the particles in the focal region. By adjusting the geometrical parameters or changing the topological charge of the phase-shifting plate, some novel trap patterns may occur, such as triangle shape trap, quadrangle shape trap, pentagon shape trap, hexagon shape trap, and the shapes of optical traps change very considerably. Therefore, the phase plate may be very advantageous for constructing tunable optical traps. The method is more versatile in that it allows precise control of the parameters and has the possibility of generating specific patterns of optical vortices. The gradient force pattern focal of intensity distribution depends on both the annular width and the topological charge.  相似文献

We present a systematic investigation on the dynamics of a hollow Gaussian beam (HGB) in metamaterials. We predict self-trapped propagation of HGBs and evolution of the beam is highly influenced by dimensionless dispersion coefficient (κ), which determines the strength of dispersion over diffraction. The evolutions of HGBs such as disappearance of single ringed intensity pattern and appearance of patterns with a central bright spot are achievable with less propagation distance in metamaterials with higher values of κ. On the other hand, metamaterials with low values of κ can preserve single ring intensity distribution over a long propagation distance without focusing. When the strength of dispersion over diffraction increases, it significantly influences the evolution of the beam and may lead to the formation of tightly focussed beam with high peak intensity at the center. The phenomenon of tight focussing is found to have some applications in trapping of nanosized particles.  相似文献

Radially polarized beam has gained much interest recently due to its properties and applications. In this article, the focusing properties of radially polarized beam with radial cosine phase wavefront are investigated theoretically. Results show that when the radially polarized beam with radial cosine wavefront phase is focused, the focal pattern differs considerably with frequency parameter in the cosine function term. In the high numerical aperture focusing system, focal shift occurs, and novel focal patterns evolve considerably, for instance, from only one peak to two or multiple overlapping peaks. In addition, peak intensity ratio of radially polarized component to longitudinal polarized component in the focal region fluctuates smoothly for low-frequency parameter, then drops sharply, and comes back remarkably with increasing frequency parameter. Simultaneously focal shift increases slowly, and then decreases, suddenly, focal shift sign changes that results from focal switch phenomenon, and then fluctuates.  相似文献

Based on the theory of coherence, an analytical propagation formula for partially polarized and partially coherent hollow Gaussian Schell-model beams (HGSMBs) passing through a paraxial optical system is derived. Furthermore, we show that the degree of polarization of source may affect the evolution of HGSMBs and a tunable dark region may exist. For two special cases of fully coherent and partially coherent δxx = δyy, normalized intensity distributions are independent of the polarization of source.  相似文献

Based on the vector angular-spectrum and the complex Gaussian expansion of the aperture function, the structure of an apertured hollow Gaussian beam in the far field is given in a integral form. In virtue of the method of stationary phase approximation, the analytical vectorial structures are derived. Starting from the analytical expressions, the propagation properties of apertured hollow Gaussian beams with different order in the far field are illustrated graphically. In addition, the influence of the truncation parameter on far field distribution is studied detailedly. This research can shed light on the further understanding of the vectorial property of an apertured hollow Gaussian beam.  相似文献

线偏振高斯光束经圆形光阑衍射后,其远场可表示成互相正交的横电(TE)项和横磁(TM)项之和。利用TE项和TM项的远场能流分布,导出了高斯衍射光束的TE项和TM项远场功率的解析表达式,由此可度量TE项和TM项在远场占总功率的比例。基于能流二阶矩的定义,给出了高斯衍射光束、TE项和TM项远场发散角的解析式以及三者远场发散角间的关系通式,重点分析了f参数和截取参数对远场发散角的影响。结果表明:随着f参数的增大,远场发散角先增大后趋向于各自的饱和值。截取参数对远场发散角的影响与f参数相关,当f参数较大时,截取参数对远场发散角的影响不明显;当f参数适中时,随着截取参数的增大,远场发散角先减小后趋向于各自的最小值;但当f参数较小时,高斯衍射光束和TM项二者的远场发散角出现一定的波动性。  相似文献

针对激光系统对光束匀滑的需求,设计了高斯型连续相位板,并对其远场特性进行了研究。分别计算了相干长度为39,30,10和3 mm的高斯相位板远场光斑分布,结果显示相位板自身相关长度是决定远场能量分布的重要因素,当相干长度大于10 mm时,由于不满足各态历经条件,远场光斑分布能量分散。当相干长度小于10 mm后,由于满足各态历经条件,远场光斑能量将接近理想的高斯分布特性。通过数值计算模拟了相干长度为3 mm的连续相位板对畸变光束进行匀滑处理的过程,演示了束匀滑处理结果。通过比较匀滑前后远场光斑的能量分布,显示了畸变光束通过连续相位板后远场光斑能量分布变化情况,通过相位板后,光斑形状明显接近理想高斯分布情况。  相似文献
