Single crystal of potassium dichromate (KDC) has been grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique. The lattice parameters of the grown crystal were determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The optical absorption studies reveal that the crystal has UV cut-off wavelength around 240 nm. Thermo gravimetric and differential thermal (TGA/DTA) studies revealed that the crystal thermally stable up to 397.1 °C. The mechanical strength of the grown crystal was carried out by Vickers micro hardness test. The crystal perfection was confirmed by etching studies. Third order nonlinear optical studies was performed using by single beam Z-scan technique using continuous Nd:YAG laser. Closed aperture Z-scan studies reveal the negative nonlinearity in the crystals and open aperture Z-scan reveals the saturation absorption. Also various parameters such as nonlinear refractive index n2, absorption co-efficient β and nonlinear optical susceptibility χ(3) were calculated for the grown crystal.  相似文献

Single crystals of a nonlinear optical material, zinc thiourea chloride were grown by the slow evaporation technique. The crystal structure and lattice parameters of the grown crystal were determined by the single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The single crystal XRD revealed that the material crystallized in a orthorhombic crystal system. Optical studies were carried out and it was found that the tendency of transmission observed from the specimen, with respect to the wavelength of light, is practically more suitable for opto-electronic applications. The optical band gap is found to be 4.30 eV. Optical constants such as the band gap, refractive index, reflectance, extinction coefficient and real (?r) and imaginary (?i) components of the dielectric constant and electric susceptibility were determined from the UV–vis–NIR spectrum. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of zinc thiourea chloride were measured in the different frequency range from 50 Hz to 5 MHz at different temperatures. Further, electronic properties, such as valence electron plasma energy, Penn gap, Fermi energy and electronic polarizability of the grown crystal have been estimated.  相似文献

L-histidinium Fumarate Fumaric acid Monohydrate (LHFFAM), an organic nonlinear optical single crystal[C14H19N3O11], has been synthesized and grown using aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. Crystal structure details were obtained from single crystal XRD. The coordination of functional groups was identified in the grown crystal by FTIR analysis. The UV-absorption studies evince the transparent nature of the crystal is in the visible region and the optical band gap energy Eg was evaluated. The TG/DSC analyses confirm the thermal stability for the as-grown crystal. The Vickers microhardness test was carried out on the grown crystals and there by Vickers hardness number (Hv), work hardening coefficient (n), yield strength (σy), stiffness constant C11 were evaluated. The dielectric behaviour of LHFFAM has been determined in the frequency range 50 Hz to 5 MHz at various temperatures. Kurtz-Perry and Z-scan techniques were performed for the acentric crystal LHFFAM which highlighted good nonlinear response and hence proves it appropriate for frequency conversion process and photonic device fabrications.  相似文献

Single crystals of guanidinium 4-nitrobenzoate (GuNB) were grown using solvent evaporation technique by mixing aqueous solutions of guanidine carbonate and 4-nitrobenzoic acid at ambient temperature. X-ray diffraction analysis characterized the unit cell parameters of the grown crystal and the crystal belongs to monoclinic system. The optical properties of the grown crystal have been studied by means of transmission measurements in the wavelength region between 200 and 1200 nm. The optical constants such as refractive index (n) and extinction coefficient (k) have been determined from the transmittance data. The optical band gap (Eg), the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric constant of the grown crystal was determined. Second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of the grown crystal has been studied using Nd:YAG laser and was measured as 3.2 times that of KDP. The low dielectric constant suggests the suitability of this compound material for NLO applications.  相似文献

Sodium acid phthalate (SAP), an efficient semi-organic crystal having dimensions 17×8×2 mm3 has been grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique at room temperature within the period of 2 weeks. The lattice parameters of the grown crystals were determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The presence of functional groups was estimated qualitatively by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis. The band gap energy was determined using optical absorption studies. The TG/DTA analysis reveals that the SAP crystal is thermally stable up to 141.6 °C. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss was studied as a function of frequency and the corresponding activation energy (Ea) has been calculated for the grown crystal. Scanning electron microscope studies enunciate the ferroelectric domain patterns of the SAP crystal. Ferroelectric property of the grown crystal was confirmed by hysteresis loop studies.  相似文献

Single crystals of organic nonlinear optical material 5-Nitroindole (5NI) has been grown by slow cooling solution growth technique using methanol as a solvent. The grown crystal was subjected to single crystal X-ray diffraction technique to determine the lattice parameters. Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FTIR) was recorded to identify the presence of functional groups. The optical properties such as the optical band gap, extinction coefficient (k), refractive index (n) and optical conductivity (σ) were calculated. The optical band gap of 5NI is 2.33 eV. The melting point and thermal stability of the crystal was analyzed from TG/DTA studies. Dielectric studies were carried out at different temperatures and frequencies.  相似文献

A new organic nonlinear optical material 1-(4-fluorostyryl)-4-nitrostilbene (FNS) has been synthesized and single crystals of FNS were grown using solvent evaporation solution growth technique (SESGT) by 2-butanon solvent. Single crystal x-ray diffraction analysis reveals the unit cell parameters of the grown crystal are a = 9.494(4) Å, b = 9.864(2) Å, c = 19.501(7) Å and it belongs to monoclinic system with noncentrosymmetric space group. Optical transmittance of the grown crystal has been studied by UV-Vis-NIR spectrum. The optical properties of FNS have been studied by means of optical transmittance measurements in the wavelength range of 190–1100 nm The optical constants were calculated from the optical transmittance (T) data such as refractive index (n), extinction coefficient (k) and reflectance (R). The optical band gap (Eg) of FNS is 3.27 eV with direct transition. The complex dielectric (?) constant of the grown FNS crystal was determined. The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of the grown FNS crystal has been studied by using Kurtz-Perry powder technique and it shows 12 times relatively greater than KDP.  相似文献

The growth of nonlinear optical single crystal of manganese mercury thiocyanate glycol monomethyl ether (MMTG), a Lewis base adduct of manganese mercury thiocyanate (MMTC), is reported. MMTG crystallizes in orthorhombic structure with Pca21 space group. The optical band gap energy of the sample is found to be 3.5 eV. The sample is thermally stable up to 145 °C. The grown crystal is characterized by photoluminescence, dielectric, dc conductivity, photoconductivity and SEM studies. From the photoluminescence study, the suitability of the material for blue and green light generation is confirmed. The electric and dielectric response of the grown crystal is studied as a function of temperature and the results are discussed. The dc activation energy of the sample is found to be 0.048 eV.  相似文献

Lithium sodium sulfate (LiNaSO4)single crystal is synthesized and grown by the slow evaporation of supersaturated aqueous solution at constant temperature (303 K). Powder X-ray diffraction is measured at room temperature in order to identify the grown crystal. Transmittance and reflectance measurements are used to study the optical properties of this crystal at room temperature phase (β-LiNaSO4). The type of transition is determined. The values of optical energy gap, phonon energy and phonon equivalent temperature are calculated. Refractive index and extinction coefficient are calculated as functions of photon energy. The obtained optical data of β-LiNaSO4 crystal are used to check the validity of both Wemple-DiDomenico and Cauchy-Sellimaier dispersion relations. Normal dispersion parameters of this crystal are calculated for the first time.  相似文献

4-N,N-dimethylamino-4′-N′-methylstilbazolium iodide (DMSI) compound was synthesized by Knoevenagel reaction method and the crystals were grown by solution growth method. From the single crystal X-ray diffraction study, it is confirmed that DMSI crystal belongs to monoclinic system. The bond-length alternation (BLA) of the DMSI molecule was found to be 0.11 Å, which is responsible for quadratic NLO response. The electronic transition properties and optical constants such as energy gap (Eg), linear refractive index (n1) were determined using UV–visible and photoluminescence spectral studies. The second order nonlinear optical property of the crystal was examined using Kurtz–Perry powder test. Laser induced damage threshold on (0 0 1) plane of the optically polished crystal was found to be 1.24 GW/cm2.  相似文献

It is reported here, for the first time, that high-quality bulk size (18 × 5 × 4 mm3) single crystals of a new nonlinear optical crystal, [(NH4)[Cd(NCS)3]·C12H24O6] [Ammonium (18-crown-6-ether) Cadmium(II) tri-thiocyanate; ACCTC], have been grown from aqueous solution via slow evaporation technique. Solubility of ACCTC has been determined for various temperatures. The grown crystals were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, FT-IR, FT-Raman, and UV–Vis–NIR studies. ACCTC crystallizes in orthorhombic system with cell parameters a = 14.7568 ?, b = 15.4378 ?, and c = 10.6383 ? with space group Cmc21. The optical second-harmonic generation effect has been measured by using the Kurtz powder technique and is found to be 2 times higher than that of KDP (KH2PO4). The sample possesses wide optical transparency range from 200 to 2,500 nm. The TG-DSC thermal analysis revealed that the sample is thermally stable up to 237.92 °C, which is comparatively far better than the thermal stability of [(18C6)Li][Cd(SCN)3]; CLTC (170 °C).  相似文献

Good quality novel semiorganic nonlinear optical single crystal of d-phenylglycine hydrochloride has been grown from the aqueous solution by low temperature solution growth method. X-ray diffraction reveals that the crystal crystallises into orthorhombic system with noncentrosymmetric space group P212121. Experimental parameters are evaluated based on single-crystal XRD and the calculated values of the polarisability were compared with the values of polarisability using Clausius–Mossotti equation. The functional groups present in the grown crystal were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectral analysis. The 1H and 13C FT–NMR has been recorded to elucidate the molecular structure. Ultraviolet–visible-near infra-red absorption studies on this crystal reveal that the minimum absorption region is around 228 nm. The optical band gap of the crystal was found to be 2.9 eV. The scanning electron microscope study has been carried out to determine the surface morphology of the grown crystal. Photoluminescence studies show that the material emits violet fluorescence. Thermal studies bring forth that the crystal is thermally stable up to 255 °C. Dielectric studies reveal that both the dielectric constant and dielectric loss decrease with the increase in frequency as like the typical semiorganic nonlinear optical crystals such as bisthiourea zinc chloride, bisthiourea cadmium chloride and l-arginine dihydrogen phosphate. Electrical conductivity measurements were carried out and the Arrhenius plot is used to determine the value of activation energy. The Kurtz powder analysis on the crystal confirms the existence of second harmonic generation properties. The SHG efficiency was found to be 1.15 times that of KDP crystal.  相似文献

Manganese mercury thiocyanate bis-dimethyl sulfoxide (MMTD), a novel organo-metallic nonlinear optical (NLO) crystal, was grown by a slow evaporation technique over a period of 30 days. The grown crystal was subjected to single crystal X-ray diffraction to determine the unit cell parameters. The optical properties of MMTD were investigated by UV-Vis-NIR, FTIR and FT-Raman spectroscopic techniques. The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of the sample was measured using a Q-switched, mode-locked Nd:YAG laser and the results were compared with urea and manganese mercury thiocyanate (MMTC). The thermal parameters, such as the thermal diffusivity (α), thermal effusivity (e), thermal conductivity (k) and heat capacity (cp) of MMTD were measured by the photopyroelectric (PPE) technique and the results are discussed. The dielectric response and mechanical properties of MMTD have also been investigated and reported.  相似文献

Gamma glycine was synthesized and the single crystals were grown by the slow evaporation method in the presence of lithium nitrate. Structure and crystalline nature of the grown γ-glycine crystal was confirmed by X-ray diffraction technique. It was found to crystallize in the trigonal system with space group P31. The chemical composition was determined by NMR. Fourier transform infrared studies revealed the functional groups present in the grown crystal and UV-vis-NIR spectra revealed the transmission properties of the crystal specimen. Surface morphology of the grown crystal was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and elemental composition was confirmed by energy-dispersive spectrometry (EDS). The second-order nonlinear optical property of the material was investigated by Kurtz powder technique and the relative second harmonic efficiency of γ-glycine was estimated to be higher than that of KDP. The dielectric measurement was carried out as a function of frequencies at room temperature and the results were discussed. The samples have shown piezoelectric behavior with a fairly good piezoelectric charge coefficient (d33) of 7.37 pC/N. Photoluminescence studies showed emission peak around 350 nm. Thermo gravimetric and differential thermal analyses were employed to understand the thermal and physio-chemical stability of the synthesized compound.  相似文献

An efficient nonlinear optical single crystal of 2-phenylethylammonium p-hydroxybenzoate (2PPHB) was grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation solution growth method. Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies confirmed that 2PPHB crystallizes in orthorhombic crystal system with non-centrosymmetric space group of Pna21. The presence of functional groups in the synthesized compound was identified by FTIR spectral analysis. The grown crystals were thermally stable up to 155 °C. UV–vis absorption, photoluminescence and birefringence optical properties of grown crystal were explored. The laser induced surface damage threshold and relative second harmonic generation properties of the grown crystal were studied using Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. The variation of dielectric properties of the grown crystal with frequency was investigated for different temperatures. Good quality organic non-linear optical single crystal of piperazinium orthophthalate (PPA) was grown successfully by solution growth at room temperature by achieving the supersaturation state in slow evaporation method. The powder XRD analysis confirms the crystalline nature and structural parameters of the grown PPA crystal. The FTIR and Raman spectra confirm the existence of acid-base functional groups along with their vibrational mode exhibited, present in the grown PPA crystal. UV–Vis spectrum exhibits better transparency in the visible region with cut-off wavelength of 330 nm and the energy band gap (Eg) is analyzed to be 3.8 eV. Photoluminescence spectra shows good optical property with the excitation of 342 nm and two emission peaks in near edge UV band with blue emission at 364 and the energy transition in deep level defect states in crystals by exhibiting the green emission at 533 nm respectively. The thermal stability and the thermal absorption of the PPA crystal were identified by the TG - DTA analysis and obtained thermal stability was up to 88 °C. Vickers micro hardness test illustrates the mechanical stability of the grown PPA crystal and it belong to soft category (n = 4.6). Etching studies illustrates the growth pattern of the grown crystal using water as etchant. FE-SEM analysis shows the perfect smooth morphology of the grown PPA crystal. Second harmonic generation study illustrates the grown PPA crystal (λ = 532 nm) exhibit good nonlinear optical response.  相似文献

The Triethanolamine picrate (TEAP) single crystal was grown by slow evaporation technique. The grown crystal crystallizes in monoclinic system and P21/C is the space group determined by Single crystal X-Ray diffraction method. The vibrational modes and functional groups were elucidated from Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) spectra and Fourier Transform Raman (FT-Raman) spectra. The Ultraviolet - Visible (Uv-Vis) studies accomplished the excitation wavelength of the grown crystal is around 203 nm and 354 nm and it is suitable to exhibit second harmonic generation signal. From the absorption data, remarkable optical properties such as optical band gap energy, extinction coefficient were evaluated. The mechanical strength of the grown crystal was examined by Vickers micro hardness test. The temperature of decomposition was confirmed by Thermo Gravimetric / Differential Thermal Analysis (TG/DTA). Kurtz and Perry technique were confirmed the Non-Linear Optics (NLO) property of the crystal. The electrical properties were explained using Dielectric studies.  相似文献

The potential organic nonlinear optical single crystal of 2,3-dimethoxy-10-oxostrychnidinium hydrogen oxalate dihydrate has been grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique (SEST) using ethanol–water solution at room temperature. The powder X-ray diffraction study reveals that the crystal belongs to orthorhombic system with non-centrosymmetric space group P212121 and the cell parameters are a = 7.61 Å, b = 10.73 Å, c = 29.49 Å, V = 2410.75 Å3. The functional groups of the synthesized compound have been identified by FT-Raman and FTIR analyses. Photoluminescence spectroscopy study is determined to explore its efficacy towards device fabrications. Birefringence measurement has been carried out in order to analyze the optical homogeneity of the grown crystal. The optical constants such as reflectance (R) and extinction coefficient (K) have been determined from the transmittance data. The relative second harmonic efficiency of the compound is found to be 4 times greater than that of KDP. DTA-DSC measurements indicate that the crystal is thermally stable up to 174 °C.  相似文献

A new nonlinear optical organic crystal l-tryptophan p-nitrophenol (LTPNP) of dimension 19 mm × 2 mm × 1.5 mm has been grown from an aqueous solution for the first time by slow evaporation technique at ambient temperature. The crystal structure of LTPNP was confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction. LTPNP crystallizes in non-centrosymmetric monoclinic system with space group P21. The recorded FTIR spectrum confirms the presence of various functional groups in the grown crystal and confirms the formation of LTPNP. Thermal stability and melting temperature of the LTPNP crystal were identified from TG/DTA analysis. The optical absorption study confirms the suitability of the crystal for device applications. LTPNP exhibits SHG efficiency over 1.7 orders of magnitude higher than that of urea and 4 orders of magnitude higher than that of KDP.  相似文献

Vanillylideneaniline with chemical formula C14H13NO2 (VAN), a second order nonlinear optical (SONLO) organic single crystal was synthesized and grown for the first time from dimethyl formamide (DMF) employing slow solvent evaporation technique. Single crystal X-ray diffraction data reveals that the crystal belongs to noncentrosymmetric orthorhombic space group C2221. The high-resolution diffraction curve containing single peak with full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 62 arc s ascertains VAN was perfectly crystallized and free from structural grain boundaries. The formation of the material was confirmed quantitatively by FTIR, 1H1 and 13C NMR spectral analyses. The UV–vis–NIR spectrum reveals the percentage of the transmission of VAN crystal in the entire region. The variations of dielectric constant (?r) and dielectric loss (D) with frequency at different temperatures were investigated. The SHG of VAN crystal is confirmed by Kurtz Powder technique. The mechanical strength of the crystal was estimated by Vickers hardness test. VAN has yield strength of 8.70 MPa. Thus the grown organic VAN single crystal can be recommended as a promising candidate for SONLO application and device fabrication technology.  相似文献
