The anomalies of magnetic properties of TbLiF4 caused by the interaction of the energy levels of a rare-earth ion in a strong magnetic field up to 50 T directed along the [100] and [110] axes are studied experimentally and theoretically. The jumps in magnetization M(H) and the maxima of the differential magnetic susceptibility dM(H)/dH are found in critical fields H c = 28 and 31 T, where the lower component of the excited doublet approaches the ground-state singlet of a Tb3+ ion. Based on the crystal-field model with known interaction parameters, we calculated the Zeeman effect and the magnetization and magnetic susceptibility curves for the TbLiF4 crystal, which adequately describe magnetic anomalies and critical parameters of a crossover. It is shown that the jumpwise change in the α- and γ-symmetry quadrupole interactions in TbLiF4 caused by changes in the corresponding quadrupole moments during the crossing of energy levels leads, in accordance with experiments, to a decrease in the critical field H c by approximately 4 T and an increase in the maximum of the differential susceptibility dM(H)/dH near the crossover more than twofold. This behavior can be considered as an analog of the induced quadrupole transition caused by a change of the ground state of the rare-earth ion during crossover.  相似文献

The magnetic susceptibilities of the rare-earth orthovanadates RVO4 (where R is a rare-earth ion, Ce-Lu, or Y) have been measured in the temperature range 3.5–300 K. From 100–300 K, the data fit a Curie-Weiss law and the paramagnetic Curie temperatures for all the compounds are negative. A systematic analysis of the susceptibility data in terms of the crystal field model has been carried out, and a smooth set of crystal field parameters has been derived.  相似文献

The effect of a strong magnetic field H||[001] on magnetic properties of the Jahn-Teller compound DyVO4 is studied. New phase transitions discovered and investigated experimentally and theoretically include the breaking of quadrupole order (enhancement of the crystal symmetry) and breaking of antiferromagnetic order as well as the effect of convergence of energy levels of the Dy3+ ion (crossover). The differential magnetic susceptibility of a DyVO4 crystal is measured in fields up to 36 T in the temperature interval 1.4?15 K. The observed magnetic susceptibility anomalies and phase transitions are described using a unified theoretical approach.  相似文献

In this paper, the Debye mass of quarks is investigated in the Nambu–Jona-Lasinio model at zero and nonzero chemical potentials. In a uniform plasma, the Debye mass usually behaves as a monotonous increasing function of the temperature, the chemical potential and the magnetic field. At the fixed coupling interaction G, we find that the magnetic catalysis (MC) on the occurrence of the chiral restoration could be revealed by the susceptibility of the Debye mass dmD/dT at low chemical potential and by the quantity TdmD/dT in the region of moderate densities. However, the inverse MC is realized under a thermomagnetic coupling constant G(B, T) by the behavior of the Debye mass at both zero and nonzero chemical potentials.  相似文献

Thermoelectric effects are investigated theoretically in layered conductors with a quasi-two-dimensional electron energy spectrum of arbitrary type in a strong magnetic field. It is shown that, at temperatures sufficiently low for quantization of the orbital motion of charge carriers in a magnetic field to be required, there exist giant quantum oscillations of the thermoelectric field. Thermoelectric emf is studied as a f unction of the orientation of the magnetic field with respect to the layers; experimental investigation of this function allows one to determine the velocity distribution of conduction electrons on the Fermi surface.  相似文献

The linear response of the electron system of a layered conductor to the temperature gradient in this system in a strong magnetic field is investigated theoretically. Thermoelectric emf is studied as a function of the magnitude and orientation of a strong external magnetic field; the experimental investigation of this function, combined with the study of the electric and thermal resistance, allows one to completely determine the structure of the energy spectrum of charge carriers.  相似文献

We investigate the effects of a magnetic field with low to intermediate strength on several spectroscopic properties of the sodium atom. A model potential is used to describe the core of sodium, reducing the study of the system to an effective one-particle problem. All states with principal quantum numbers n = 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are studied and analysed. A grid of twenty values for the field strength in the complete regime B = 0 - 0.02 a.u. is employed. 随着科学技术的发展以及稳态强磁场在医疗诊断中的广泛应用,人们接触到1 T以上稳态强磁场的机会越来越多,稳态强磁场对人体健康的潜在影响也备受关注.虽然目前由于实验条件的限制,稳态强磁场对动物以及人体的研究报道依然有限,但是细胞作为生物体的基本单位,其研究相对较多.然而由于实验中磁场参数、细胞类型等各种因素的不同,使得稳态强磁场对细胞的影响在不同的研究中存在着差异.因此,本文不仅总结和分析了国内外1 T以上稳态强磁场细胞生物学效应的相关研究,包括细胞取向、增殖、微管和纺锤体等,而且对现有研究结果进行比较和概括,并对可能造成实验差异的因素进行分析,例如磁场强度和细胞类型等,从而为下一步研究稳态强磁场下的细胞生物学效应提供基础和依据.  相似文献

We demonstrate that an undoped two-dimensional carbon plane (graphene) whose bulk is in the integer quantum Hall regime supports a nonchiral Luttinger liquid at an armchair edge. This behavior arises due to the unusual dispersion of the noninteracting edge states, causing a crossing of bands with different valley and spin indices at the edge. We demonstrate that this stabilizes a domain wall structure with a spontaneously ordered phase degree of freedom. This coherent domain wall supports gapless charged excitations, and has a power law tunneling I-V with a nonintegral exponent. In proximity to a bulk lead, the edge may undergo a quantum phase transition between the Luttinger liquid phase and a metallic state.  相似文献

The possibility of resonance double magnetic bremsstrahlung in the approximation of weakly excited electron states in a strong external magnetic field is analyzed. The differential probability of this process in the Breit-Wigner form is obtained. The probability of double magnetic bremsstrahlung (second-order process of perturbation theory) is compared with the probability of magnetic bremsstrahlung (first-order process of perturbation theory).  相似文献

Complex measurements of the following elastic-magnetic parameters of a magnetic fluid suspended by magnetic levitation within a horizontal tube in a strong magnetic field were performed: the oscillation frequency and decay coefficient; the static, ponderomotive, and dynamic elasticity coefficients; the fluid displacement under hydrostatic pressure; magnetization curve; and the magnetic field strength and gradient. Calculations based on a model of ponderomotive elasticity with correction for the resistance of a viscous fluid in motion and on the fluid column displacement for two magnetic fluid samples agree well with the experimental magnetization curve. The discussed technique holds promise for research into magnetophoresis and nanoparticle aggregation in magnetic colloids.  相似文献

Frequencies of phonon-plasmon coupled modes in a strong magnetic field were calculated. The calculations were performed in the long-wave approximation with regard to the electron damping and intrinsic lifetime of optical phonons. In an external magnetic field analytical properties are studied of the photon polarization tensor calculated as the electron-positron loop in the Furry picture. The polarization tensor is reexpressed as a sum over singular contributions coming from e+e?-pair photocreation in semidiscrete Landau states. The solutions of the photon dispersion equation (i.e., the one for the poles of the photon propagator) are described. The shape of the photon dispersion curve obtained is responsible for the effect of photon deflection by a strong magnetic field. No physically reliable solutions, apart from spurions, are found for the longitudinal photon mode. An infinite number of solutions with complex space-momentum are found, with no apparnet ghosts among them. An attempt is made to interprete the former in terms of possible bound and quasibound states of electron and positron pairs.  相似文献
