Aqueous rechargeable batteries have attracted attention owning to their advantages of safety, low cost, and sustainability, while the limited electrochemical stability window (1.23 V) of water leads to their failure in competition with organic-based lithium-ion batteries. Herein, we report an alkali–acid Zn–PbO2 hybrid aqueous battery obtained by coupling an alkaline Zn anode with an acidic PbO2 cathode. It shows the capability to deliver an impressively high open-circuit voltage (Voc) of 3.09 V and an operate voltage of 2.95 V at 5 mA cm−2, thanks to the contribution of expanding the voltage window and the electrochemical neutralization energy from the alkali–acid asymmetric-electrolyte hybrid cell. The hybrid battery can potentially deliver a large area capacity over 2 mAh cm−2 or a high energy density of 252.39 Wh kg−1 and shows almost no fading in area capacity over 250 charge–discharge cycles.  相似文献

Organosulfur compounds with multiple thiol groups are promising for high gravimetric energy density electrochemical energy storage. We have synthesized a poly(2,5‐dimercapto‐1,3,4‐thiadiazole) (PDMcT)/poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) composite cathode for lithium‐ion batteries with a new method and investigated its electrochemical behavior by charge/discharge cycles and cyclic voltammetry (CV) in an ether‐based electrolyte. Based on a comparison of the electrochemical performance with a carbonate‐based electrolyte, we found a much higher discharge capacity, but also a very attractive cycling performance of PDMcT by using a tetra(ethylene glycol) dimethyl ether (TEGDME)‐based electrolyte. The first discharge capacity of the as‐synthesized PDMcT/PEDOT composite approached 210 mAh g?1 in the TEGDME‐based electrolyte. CV results clearly show that the redox reactions of PDMcT are highly reversible in this TEGDME‐based electrolyte. The reversible capacity remained around 120 mAh g?1 after 20 charge/discharge cycles. With improved cycling performance and very low cost, PDMcT could become a very promising cathode material when combined with a TEGDME‐based electrolyte. The poor capacity in the carbonate‐based electrolyte is a consequence of the irreversible reaction of the DMcT monomer and dimer with the solvent, emphasizing the importance of electrolyte chemistry when studying molecular‐based battery materials.  相似文献

The rechargeable aluminium–sulfur (Al–S) battery is regarded as a potential alternative beyond lithium-ion battery system owing to its safety, promising energy density, and the high earth abundance of the constituent electrode materials, however, sluggish kinetic response and short life-span are the major issues that limit the battery development towards applications. In this article, we report CoII,III as an electrochemical catalyst in the sulfur cathode that renders a reduced discharge–charge voltage hysteresis and improved capacity retention and rate capability for Al–S batteries. The structural and electrochemical analysis suggest that the catalytic effect of CoII,III is closely associated with the formation of cobalt sulfides and the changes in the valence states of the CoII,III during the electrochemical reactions of the sulfur species, which lead to improved reaction kinetics and sulfur utilization in the cathode. The Al–S battery, assembled with the cathode consisting of CoII,III decorated carbon matrix, demonstrates a considerably reduced voltage hysteresis of 0.8 V, a reversible specific capacity of ≈500 mAh g−1 at 1 A g−1 after 200 discharge–charge cycles and of ≈300 mAh g−1 at 3 A g−1.  相似文献

Lithium metal has been considered as the most promising anode electrode for substantially improving the energy density of next‐generation energy storage devices. However, uncontrollable lithium dendrite growth, an unstable solid electrolyte interface (SEI), and infinite volume variation severely shortens its service lifespan and causes safety hazards, thus hindering the practical application of lithium metal electrodes. Here, carbon fiber film (CFF) modified by lithiophilic Co3O4 nanowires (denoted as Co3O4 Nws) was proposed as a matrix for prestoring lithium metal through a thermal infusion method. The homogeneous needle‐like Co3O4 nanowires can effectively promote molten lithium to infiltrate into the CFF skeleton. The post‐formed Co?Li2O nanowires produced by the reaction of Co3O4 Nws and molten lithium can homogeneously distribute lithium ions flux and efficaciously increase the adsorption energy with lithium ions proved by density functional theory (DFT) calculation, boosting a uniform lithium deposition without dendrite growth. Therefore, the obtained composite anode (denoted as CFF/Co?Li2O@Li) exhibits superior electrochemical performance with high stripping/plating capacities of 3 mAh cm?2 and 5 mAh cm?2 over long‐term cycles in symmetrical batteries. Moreover, in comparison with bare lithium anode, superior Coulombic efficiencies coupled with copper collector and full battery behaviors paired with LiFePO4 cathode are achieved when CFF/Co?Li2O@Li composite anode was employed.  相似文献

The lithium–sulfur battery is regarded as one of the most promising candidates for lithium–metal batteries with high energy density. However, dendrite Li formation and low cycle efficiency of the Li anode as well as unstable sulfur based cathode still hinder its practical application. Herein a novel electrolyte (1 m LiODFB/EC‐DMC‐FEC) is designed not only to address the above problems of Li anode but also to match sulfur cathode perfectly, leading to extraordinary electrochemical performances. Using this electrolyte, lithium|lithium cells can cycle stably for above 2000 hours and the average Coulumbic efficiency reaches 98.8 %. Moreover, the Li–S battery delivers a reversible capacity of about 1400 mAh g?1sulfur with retention of 89 % for 1100 cycles at 1 C, and a capacity above 1100 mAh g?1sulfur at 10 C. The more advantages of this cell system are its outstanding cycle stability at 60 °C and no self‐discharge phenomena.  相似文献

Hydronium-ion batteries have received significant attention owing to the merits of extraordinary sustainability and excellent rate abilities. However, achieving high-performance hydronium-ion batteries remains a challenge due to the inferior properties of anode materials in strong acid electrolyte. Herein, a hydronium-ion battery is constructed which is based on a diquinoxalino [2,3-a:2’,3’-c] phenazine (HATN) anode and a MnO2@graphite felt cathode in a hybrid acidic electrolyte. The fast kinetics of hydronium-ion insertion/extraction into HATN electrode endows the HATN//MnO2@GF battery with enhanced electrochemical performance. This battery exhibits an excellent rate performance (266 mAh g−1 at 0.5 A g−1, 97 mAh g−1 at 50 A g−1), attractive energy density (182.1 Wh kg−1) and power density (31.2 kW kg−1), along with long-term cycle stability. These results shed light on the development of advanced hydronium-ion batteries.  相似文献

Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) dominate the energy market, from electronic devices to electric vehicles, but pursuing greater energy density remains challenging owing to the limited electrode capacity. Although increasing the cut-off voltage of LIBs (>4.4 V vs. Li/Li+) can enhance the energy density, the aggravated electrolyte decomposition always leads to a severe capacity fading and/or expiry of the battery. Herein, a new durable electrolyte is reported for high-voltage LIBs. The designed electrolyte is composed of mixed linear alkyl carbonate solvent with certain cyclic carbonate additives, in which use of the ethylene carbonate (EC) co-solvent was successfully avoided to suppress the electrolyte decomposition. As a result, an extremely high cycling stability, rate capability, and high-temperature storage performance were demonstrated in the case of a graphite|LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 (NCM622) battery at 4.45 V when this electrolyte was used. The good compatibility of the electrolyte with the graphite anode and the mitigated structural degradation of the NCM622 cathode are responsible for the high performance at high potentials above 4.4 V. This work presents a promising application of high-voltage electrolytes for pursuing high energy LIBs and provides a straightforward guide to study the electrodes/electrolyte interface for higher stability.  相似文献

Developing rechargeable Na–CO2 batteries is significant for energy conversion and utilization of CO2. However, the reported batteries in pure CO2 atmosphere are non‐rechargeable with limited discharge capacity of 200 mAh g?1. Herein, we realized the rechargeability of a Na–CO2 battery, with the proposed and demonstrated reversible reaction of 3 CO2+4 Na?2 Na2CO3+C. The battery consists of a Na anode, an ether‐based electrolyte, and a designed cathode with electrolyte‐treated multi‐wall carbon nanotubes, and shows reversible capacity of 60000 mAh g?1 at 1 A g?1 (≈1000 Wh kg?1) and runs for 200 cycles with controlled capacity of 2000 mAh g?1 at charge voltage <3.7 V. The porous structure, high electro‐conductivity, and good wettability of electrolyte to cathode lead to reduced electrochemical polarization of the battery and further result in high performance. Our work provides an alternative approach towards clean recycling and utilization of CO2.  相似文献

The sodium‐ion battery is a promising battery technology owing to its low price and high abundance of sodium. However, the sluggish kinetics of sodium ion makes it hard to achieve high‐rate performance, therefore impairing the power density. In this work, a fiber‐in‐tube Co9S8‐carbon(C)/Co9S8 is designed with fast sodiation kinetics. The experimental and simulation analysis show that the dominating capacitance mechanism for the high Na‐ion storage performance is due to abundant grain boundaries, three exposed layer interfaces, and carbon wiring in the design. As a result, the fiber‐in‐tube hybrid anode shows a high specific capacity of 616 mAh g?1 after 150 cycles at 0.5 A g?1. At 1 A g?1, a capacity of ca. 451 mAh g?1 can be achieved after 500 cycles. More importantly, a high energy density of 779 Wh kg?1 and power density of 7793 W kg?1 can be obtained simultaneously.  相似文献

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs), thanks to their adjustable porous structure and abundant build-in functional motifs, have been recently regarded as promising electrode materials for a variety of batteries. There still remain grand opportunities to further utilizing their merits for developing advanced COFs-based batteries. In this paper, we propose a hybrid acid/alkali all-COFs battery by coupling pyrene-4,5,9,10-tetraone based COF cathode with anthraquinone based COF anode. In such a hybrid acid/alkali all-COFs battery, the cathodic COF favorably works in acid with a relatively positive potential, while the anodic COF preferably runs in alkali with a relatively negative potential. It thus can deliver a decently high discharge capacity of 92.97 mAh g−1 with a wide voltage window of 2.0 V, and exhibit high energy density of 74.2 Wh kg−1 along with a considerable cyclic stability over 300 cycles. The development of the proof-of-concept all-COFs battery may drive forward the improvement of newly cost-effective and performance-reliable energy storage devices.  相似文献

Lithium-sulfur batteries are promising secondary energy storage devices that are mainly limited by its unsatisfactory cyclability owing to inefficient reversible conversion of sulfur and lithium sulfide on the cathode during the discharge/charging process. In this study, nitrogen-doped three-dimensional porous carbon material loaded with CoSe2 nanoparticles (CoSe2-PNC) is developed as a cathode for lithium-sulfur battery. A combination of CoSe2 and nitrogen-doped porous carbon can efficiently improve the cathode activity and its conductivity, resulting in enhanced redox kinetics of the charge/discharge process. The obtained electrode exhibits a high discharge specific capacity of 1139.6 mAh g−1 at a current density of 0.2 C. After 100 cycles, its capacity remained at 865.7 mAh g−1 thus corresponding to a capacity retention of 75.97 %. In a long-term cycling test, discharge specific capacity of 546.7 mAh g−1 was observed after 300 cycles performed at a current density of 1 C.  相似文献

The demand for large‐scale and safe energy storage is increasing rapidly due to the strong push for smartphones and electric vehicles. As a result, Li+/Mg2+ hybrid‐ion batteries (LMIBs) combining a dendrite‐free deposition of Mg anode and Li+ intercalation cathode have attracted considerable attention. Here, a LMIB with hydrothermal‐prepared MoS2 nano flowers as cathode material was prepared. The battery showed remarkable electrochemical properties with a large discharge capacity (243 mAh g?1 at the 0.1 C rate), excellent rate capability (108 mAh g?1 at the 5 C rate), and long cycle life (87.2 % capacity retention after 2300 cycles). Electrochemical analysis showed that the reactions occurring in the battery cell involved Mg stripping/plating at the anode side and Li+ intercalation at the cathode side with a small contribution from Mg2+ adsorption. The excellent electrochemical performance and extremely safe cell system show promise for its use in practical applications.  相似文献

Rechargeable magnesium batteries are a promising alternative to Li‐based energy storage because of their abundant and inexpensive components. The high sensitivity and reactivity of the organic Mg2+ electrolyte makes their development challenging. Herein, we develop a new hybrid electrolyte, based on three simple inorganic salts of MgCl2, AlCl3, and Mg(TFSI)2. The electrolyte exhibits unprecedented electrochemical performance for reversible deposition and stripping of Mg, with Coulombic efficiency up to 97 %, overpotential down to 0.10 V, good stability especially for aluminum and stainless‐steel current collectors. It maintained its activity even after introducing 2000 ppm water and it could be prepared from impure chemicals. A full cell with the hybrid electrolyte and Mg foil as anode, Mo6S8 as cathode gave a specific capacity of 98 mAh g?1 and maintained 94 % capacity after 100 cycles at a rate of 0.20 C, indicating the good compatibility of the hybrid electrolyte.  相似文献

All-solid-state Li metal battery has been regarded as a promising battery technology due to its high energy density based on the high capacity of lithium metal anode and high safety based on the all solid state electrolyte without inflammable solvent. However, challenges still exist mainly in the poor contact and unstable interface between electrolyte and electrodes.Herein,we demonstrate an asymmetric design of the composite polymer electrolyte with two different layers to overcome the interface issues at both the cathode and the anode side simultaneously. At the cathode side, the polypropylene carbonate layer has enough viscosity and flexibility to reduce the inter-facial resistance, while at the Li anode side, the polyethylene oxide layer modified with hexagonal boron nitride has high mechanical strength to suppress the Li dendrite growth.Owing to the synergetic effect between different components, the asprepared double layer composite polymer electrolyte demonstrates a large electrochemical window of5.17 V,a high ionic conductivity of 6.1×10~(-4) S/cm,and a transfe rence number of 0.56,featuring excellent ion transport kinetics and good chemical stability.All-solid-state Li metal battery assembled with LiFePO_4 cathode and Li anode delivers a high capacity of 150.9 mAh/g at 25℃ and 0.1 C-rate,showing great potential for practical applications.  相似文献

A strategy is described to increase charge storage in a dual electrolyte Na‐ion battery (DESIB) by combining the redox chemistry of the electrolyte with a Na+ ion de‐insertion/insertion cathode. Conventional electrolytes do not contribute to charge storage in battery systems, but redox‐active electrolytes augment this property via charge transfer reactions at the electrode–electrolyte interface. The capacity of the cathode combined with that provided by the electrolyte redox reaction thus increases overall charge storage. An aqueous sodium hexacyanoferrate (Na4Fe(CN)6) solution is employed as the redox‐active electrolyte (Na‐FC) and sodium nickel Prussian blue (Nax‐NiBP) as the Na+ ion insertion/de‐insertion cathode. The capacity of DESIB with Na‐FC electrolyte is twice that of a battery using a conventional (Na2SO4) electrolyte. The use of redox‐active electrolytes in batteries of any kind is an efficient and scalable approach to develop advanced high‐energy‐density storage systems.  相似文献

The lithium–sulfur battery is an attractive option for next‐generation energy storage owing to its much higher theoretical energy density than state‐of‐the‐art lithium‐ion batteries. However, the massive volume changes of the sulfur cathode and the uncontrollable deposition of Li2S2/Li2S significantly deteriorate cycling life and increase voltage polarization. To address these challenges, we develop an ?‐caprolactam/acetamide based eutectic‐solvent electrolyte, which can dissolve all lithium polysulfides and lithium sulfide (Li2S8–Li2S). With this new electrolyte, high specific capacity (1360 mAh g?1) and reasonable cycling stability are achieved. Moreover, in contrast to conventional ether electrolyte with a low flash point (ca. 2 °C), such low‐cost eutectic‐solvent‐based electrolyte is difficult to ignite, and thus can dramatically enhance battery safety. This research provides a new approach to improving lithium–sulfur batteries in aspects of both safety and performance.  相似文献

LiNi0.80Co0.15Al0.05O2 (NCA) is explored to be applied in a hybrid Li+/Na+ battery for the first time. The cell is constructed with NCA as the positive electrode, sodium metal as the negative electrode, and 1 M NaClO4 solution as the electrolyte. It is found that during electrochemical cycling both Na+ and Li+ ions are reversibly intercalated into/de-intercalated from NCA crystal lattice. The detailed electrochemical process is systematically investigated by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry, ex situ X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic cycling, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The NCA cathode can deliver initially a high capacity up to 174 mAh g?1 and 95% coulombic efficiency under 0.1 C (1 C?=?120 mA g?1) current rate between 1.5–4.1 V. It also shows excellent rate capability that reaches 92 mAh g?1 at 10 C. Furthermore, this hybrid battery displays superior long-term cycle life with a capacity retention of 81% after 300 cycles in the voltage range from 2.0 to 4.0 V, offering a promising application in energy storage.  相似文献

Layered Li-rich transition metal oxides are considered among the most promising cathode materials for high energy density lithium-ion batteries. It was studied how the method and conditions of synthesis of Li-rich oxides Li1.2Mn0.54Ni0.13Co0.13O2 affect their electrochemical properties. Coprecipitation methods and modified Pechini process were used. It was shown that it is necessary to carefully choose the synthesis conditions when using the modified Pechini method because of their significant effect on the morphology of Li-rich oxides. Samples were obtained with high electrochemical characteristics: capacity discharge of 260–270 mAh/g (16 mA/g) and 60–70 mAh/g (988 mA/g) within the voltage range of 2.5–4.8 V.  相似文献
