In this paper, a mathematical model describing the transmission dynamics of an infectious disease with an exposed (latent) period and waning vaccine-induced immunity is investigated. The basic reproduction number is found by applying the method of the next generation matrix. It is shown that the global dynamics of the model is completely determined by the basic reproduction number. By means of appropriate Lyapunov functionals and LaSalle’s invariance principle, it is proven that if the basic reproduction number is less than or equal to unity, the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable and the disease fades out; and if the basic reproduction number is greater than unity, the endemic equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable and therefore the disease becomes endemic.

In this paper, an SEIS epidemic model with nonlinear incidence and time delay is investigated. By analyzing the corresponding characteristic equations, the local stability of each of feasible equilibria of the model is established. By using suitable Lyapunov functional and LaSalle's invariance principle, it is shown that the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable if the basic reproduction number is less than unity. If the basic reproduction number is greater than unity, by means of an iteration technique, sufficient conditions are derived for the global stability of the endemic equilibrium. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the theoretical results.

To understand V.Cholera transmission dynamics, in this paper, a mathematical model for the dynamics of cholera with reinfection is formulated that incorporates the duration time of the recovery individuals (age-of-immunity). The basic reproduction number $\Re_0$ for the model is identified and the threshold property of $\Re_0$ is established. By applying the persistence theory for infinite-dimensional systems, we show that the disease is uniformly persistent if the reproductive number $ \Re_0>1$. By constructing a suitable Lyapunov function, the global stability of the infection-free equilibrium in the system is obtained for $\Re_0<1$; the unique endemic equilibrium of the system is globally asymptotically stable for $\Re_0>1$.

Direct cell‐to‐cell transmission of HIV‐1 is a more efficient means of virus infection than virus‐to‐cell transmission. In this paper, we incorporate both these transmissions into an HIV‐1 virus model with nonlinear general incidence rate, intracellular delay, and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) immune responses. This model admits three types of equilibria: infection‐free equilibrium, CTL‐inactivated equilibrium, and CTL‐activated equilibrium. By using Lyapunov functionals and LaSalle invariance principle, it is verified that global threshold dynamics of the model can be explicitly described by the basic reproduction numbers.

An epidemic model on the basis of therapy of chronic Hepatitis B with antivirus treatment was introduced in this paper. By applying a comparison theorem and analyzing the corresponding characteristic equations, we obtain sufficient conditions on the parameters for the global stability of the disease-free state. It's proved that if the basic reproduction number \(R_0 < 1\) , the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. If \(R_0 > 1\), the disease-free equilibrium is unstable and the disease is uniformly permanent. Moreover, if \(R_0 > 1\), sufficient conditions are obtained for the global stability of the endemic equilibrium.

In this paper, an SIR epidemic model with saturation incidence and a time delay describing a constant infectious period is investigated. By analyzing the corresponding characteristic equations, the local stability of a disease-free equilibrium and an endemic equilibrium is established. When the basic reproduction number is greater than unity, it is proved that the disease is uniformly persistent in the population, and explicit formulae are obtained to estimate the eventual lower bound of the fraction of infectious individuals. By comparison arguments, it is proved that if the basic reproduction number is less than unity, the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. When the basic reproduction number is greater than unity, by means of an iteration technique, sufficient conditions are derived for the global attractiveness of the endemic equilibrium. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the main results.

In this paper, a stage‐structured SI epidemic model with time delay and nonlinear incidence rate is investigated. By analyzing the corresponding characteristic equations, the local stability of an endemic equilibrium and a disease‐free equilibrium, and the existence of Hopf bifurcations are established. By comparison arguments, it is proved that if the basic reproduction number is less than unity, the disease‐free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. If the basic reproduction number is greater than unity, by means of an iteration technique, sufficient conditions are obtained for the global asymptotic stability of the endemic equilibrium.
