In this work, we propose and experimentally investigate an ultra-broadband amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) light source with 113.8 nm bandwidth (1446.2 to 1560.0 nm) by using a cascaded two-stage optical amplifier, which is consisted of semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA, 1st stage) and erbiumdoped fiber amplifier (EDFA, 2nd stage), when the output intensity is above ?35 dBm/0.01 nm. And, the EDFA only uses a 3 m long erbium-doped fiber (EDF) with a 27 mW pumping power and SOA is driven at 200 mA bias current. Moreover, the proposed amplifier also can provide a broadband gain amplification of 114 nm in the wavelengths of 1464.0 and 1578.0 nm with the noise figure distribution of 6.8 to 8.1 dB. 相似文献

(HEMA) copolymer backbone. Its optical properties were experimentally investigated. Amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) and
photostability were studied by pumping the dye polymeric sample with a 355 nm (8 ns) pulsed Nd:YAG laser.

We describe the alteration of spontaneous emission of materials in optical microcavities having dimensions on the order of the emitted wavelength. Particular attention is paid to one-dimensional optical confinement structures with pairs of planar reflectors (planar microcavities). The presence of the cavity causes great modifications in the emission spectrum and spatial emission intensity distribution accompanied by changes in the spontaneous emission lifetime. Experimental results are shown for planar microcavities containing GaAs quantum wells or organic dye-embedded Langmuir-Brodgett films as light emitting layers. Also discussed are the laser oscillation properties of microcavities. A remarkable increase in the spontaneous emission coupling into the laser oscillation mode is expected in microcavity lasers. A rate equation analysis shows that increasing the coupling of spontaneous emission into the cavity mode causes the disappearance of the lasing threshold in the input-output curve. Experimentally verification is presented using planar optical microcavities confining an organic dye solution. The coupling ratio of spontaneous emission into a laser mode increases to be as large as 0.2 for a cavity having a half wavelength distance between a pair of mirrors. At this point, the threshold becomes quite fuzzy. Differences between the spontaneous emission dominant regime and the stimulated emission dominant regime are examined with emission spectra and emission lifetime analyses. 相似文献

We report on the fabrication and characteristics of a step-index glass-clad polymer optical fiber that uses a novel fluorescent stilbenoid compound for lasing and amplification applications. The compound, 1, 4-bis(4-diphenyl-amino-styryl)-benzene, is specifically designed for the blue region of the spectrum and has a very high quantum yield of 0.85 in a solid-state polymer host and a large Stokes shift. Significant spectral narrowing and superlinear increase of output intensity are observed under photoexcitation at 355 nm, which are indicative of the occurrence of amplified spontaneous emission. By means of gain spectroscopy, a large optical gain of up to 36 cm(-1) at 494 nm has been obtained for the fiber when it is transversely photoexcited at 12 mJ/cm(2) . The waveguide loss has been measured to be 0.7 cm(-1) at 494 nm. The demonstration of high gain and low waveguide loss has favorable implications for the construction of a very compact, tunable coherent light source. 相似文献

We perform a theoretical investigation of two modeling approaches for the amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise of a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA), namely a stochastic time-domain and a deterministic frequency-domain approach. The theoretical results are compared to one another having as reference experimental measurements obtained from a commercial device. Special emphasis is placed on the modeling of the material gain as it is a key parameter in determining the ASE spectral characteristics. A comprehensive set of equations for both modeling approaches is developed and their numerical solution is analyzed in detail. 相似文献

Spontaneous emission in the presence of complex nanostructures is discussed by use of a calculational scheme that permits us to deal with interfaces of arbitrary shape. Control over the field associated with the emission is shown to be attainable. In particular, decay rates are offered for geometries that lead to focusing and collimation of near- and far-field distributions. Emission from axially symmetric gratings is shown to lead to narrow angular distributions of emission, and focusing at the foci of dielectric ellipsoids is achieved for dimensions comparable with the wavelength. In the latter case the total emission rate for two atoms in an ellipsoidal cavity is shown to be enhanced in a way that deviates from the predictions of the Dicke effect by means of intermediate- and far-field contributions. 相似文献

Nonlinear harmonic radiation was observed using the VISA self-amplified, spontaneous emission (SASE) free-electron laser (FEL) at saturation. The gain lengths, spectra, and energies of the three lowest SASE FEL modes were experimentally characterized. The measured nonlinear harmonic gain lengths and center spectral wavelengths decrease with harmonic number, n, which is consistent with nonlinear harmonic theory. Both the second and third nonlinear harmonics energies are about 1% of the fundamental energy. These experimental results demonstrate for the first time the feasibility of using nonlinear harmonic SASE FEL radiation to produce coherent, femtosecond x rays. 相似文献

构建了基于外光反馈的混沌光通信系统模型, 通过引入Langevin噪声源, 建立了包含自发辐射噪声特性的主从式速率方程. 利用所得数学模型, 研究了系统中可能存在的两类同步:全混沌同步和普通注入锁模型混沌同步; 分析了两端激光器自发辐射噪声对此二类同步以及系统收发两端混沌信号的影响; 最后,以2.5Gb/s伪随机数字调制下的混沌掩蔽方式为例,介绍了系统的加/解密过程以及噪声对系统解码性能的影响.

Spectroscopic optical coherence tomography (OCT), an extension of conventional OCT, is demonstrated for performing cross-sectional tomographic and spectroscopic imaging. Information on the spectral content of backscattered light is obtained by detection and processing of the interferometric OCT signal. This method allows the spectrum of backscattered light to be measured over the entire available optical bandwidth simultaneously in a single measurement. Specific spectral features can be extracted by use of digital signal processing without changing the measurement apparatus. An ultrabroadband femtosecond Ti:Al(2)O(3) laser was used to achieve spectroscopic imaging over the wavelength range from 650 to 1000 nm in a simple model as well as in vivo in the Xenopus laevis (African frog) tadpole. Multidimensional spectroscopic data are displayed by use of a novel hue-saturation false-color mapping. 相似文献

We consider quantum fluctuations of near fields of a quantum emitter (two-level system (TLS) with population inversion sustained by incoherent pumping) in the near-field zone of a plasmon (metallic) nanoparticle. The spectrum of surface plasmons excited by spontaneous transitions in the quantum emitter is obtained below the lasing threshold of such a system (spaser) in the approximation of a small number of plasmons. It is shown that the relaxation rate is the sum of the quantum emitter’s rates of relaxation to its thermal reservoir and the plasmon cavity. The resulting dependence of the average number of plasmons on the pump intensity indicates the nonthreshold nature of the process. 相似文献
