Functional equations and the Cauchy mean value theorem

The aim of this note is to characterize all pairs of sufficiently smooth functions for which the mean value in the Cauchy mean value theorem is taken at a point which has a well-determined position in the interval. As an application of this result, a partial answer is given to a question posed by Sahoo and Riedel.     

Asymptotic behavior of intermediate points in the differential mean value theorem of divided differences with repetitions

By the explicit representation for the divided differences with repetitions involving cycle index of symmetric groups, this paper deals with the asymptotic behavior of the intermediate point of the mean value theorem of divided differences with repetitions. Our results generalize some recent interesting results such as the asymptotic expansions of the immediate points of the Taylor formula and the differential mean value theorem of divided differences with distinct points.

Hyers–Ulam stability of Sahoo–Riedel’s point

In this paper, we construct a counter example to show that “Theorem” of Hyers–Ulam Stability of Flett’s Point in [M. Das, T. Riedel, P.K. Sahoo, Hyers-Ulam stability of Flett’s points, Applied Mathematics Letters. 16 (3) (2003), 269–271] is incorrect. At the same time, we give the correct theorem and generalize it.     

Asymptotic Log-Harnack inequality and applications for stochastic systems of infinite memory

The asymptotic log-Harnack inequality is established for several kinds of models on stochastic differential systems with infinite memory: non-degenerate SDEs, neutral SDEs, semi-linear SPDEs, and stochastic Hamiltonian systems. As applications, the following properties are derived for the associated segment Markov semigroups: asymptotic heat kernel estimate, uniqueness of the invariant probability measure, asymptotic gradient estimate (hence, asymptotically strong Feller property), as well as asymptotic irreducibility.

The main purpose of this paper is using a mean value theorem of Dirichlet L-functions to study the asymptotic property of a hybrid mean value of a Cochrane sum, and give an interesting mean value formula.

Stability analysis of block boundary value methods for the neutral differential equation with many delays

This paper mainly deals with the asymptotic stability properties of block boundary value methods (B₂VMs) for the neutral differential equation with many delays. For the time lagging arguments, a technique of Lagrange interpolation is considered. Under some certain conditions, it is proved that B₂VMs can preserve the asymptotic stability of exact solutions for the neutral differential equation with many delays if and only if B₂VMs are A-stable for ordinary differential equation. Moreover, some numerical experiments are given to confirm the main conclusion.

A note on the Cochrane sum and its hybrid mean value formula

In this paper, we use the properties of Gauss sums, primitive characters and the mean value theorems of Dirichlet L-functions to study the hybrid mean value of Cochrane sums and general Kloosterman sums, and give two sharp asymptotic formulae.     

Asymptotics of a Class of Singularly Perturbed Weak Nonlinear Boundary Value Problem with a Multiple Root of the Degenerate Equation

A singularly perturbed boundary value problem with weak nonlinearity in the case when the degenerate equation has a multiple root is studied. The asymptotic approximation of the solution is constructed by the modified boundary layer function method. Based on the comparison principle, there exist multizonal boundary layers in the neighborhood of the endpoints. The existence of a solution is proved by using the method of asymptotic differential inequalities.     

A problem about the difference of functions with equidistant knots

The asymptotic properties of mean value in the relationship between difference and derivatives of functions in case of equidistance knots are discussed.
