In this research, the influence of the optical constants ε and μ on the scattering patterns of a system consisting of two interacting Rayleigh particles is analyzed. We study specific scattering configurations in which the particles are separated by a fixed distance and where the connecting axis has fixed orientations with respect to the incident electromagnetic field. Multiple scattering effects and how they are affected by the optical properties of the particles are considered.  相似文献

In order to smooth the rough surface and further improve the wear-resistance of coarse chemical vapor deposition diamond films, diamond/tetrahedral amorphous carbon composite films were synthesized by a two-step preparation technique including hot-filament chemical vapor deposition for polycrystalline diamond (PCD) and subsequent filtered cathodic vacuum arc growth for tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C). The microstructure and tribological performance of the composite films were investigated by means of various characterization techniques. The results indicated that the composite films consisted of a thick well-grained diamond base layer with a thickness up to 150 μm and a thin covering ta-C layer with a thickness of about 0.3 μm, and sp3-C fraction up to 73.93%. Deposition of a smooth ta-C film on coarse polycrystalline diamond films was proved to be an effective tool to lower the surface roughness of the polycrystalline diamond film. The wear-resistance of the diamond film was also enhanced by the self-lubricating effect of the covering ta-C film due to graphitic phase transformation. Under dry pin-on-disk wear test against Si3N4 ball, the friction coefficients of the composite films were much lower than that of the single PCD film. An extremely low friction coefficient (∼0.05) was achieved for the PCD/ta-C composite film. Moreover, the addition of Ti interlayer between the ta-C and the PCD layers can further reduce the surface roughness of the composite film. The main wear mechanism of the composite films was abrasive wear.  相似文献

Cadmium zinc sulfide nanocrystals were synthesized by a microemulsion-mediated process, which involving two steps: the preparation of CdS (or ZnS) seeds and the succedent hydrothermal growth of ZnS (or CdS) component. The XRD results show that the cadmium zinc sulfide nanocrystals with CdS seeds present a hexagonally homogeneous alloyed structure, while the ones with ZnS seeds mainly take on the characteristic of hexagonal CdS nanocrystals. The intrinsic factors influencing the crystal structures were discussed. The UV-vis and photoluminescence (PL) spectra indicate that the optical properties of the obtained nanocrystals with CdS seeds can be continuously modulated by tuning their compositions, although their sizes and size distributions are not under a strict control. The composition-modulated strategy, along with the hydrothermal microemulsion process, will be an effective route to achieve semiconductor nanocrystals with tunable optical properties under more manageable conditions.  相似文献

Based on an expansion of the Bethe-Salpeter equation in scattering orders a semi-analytic approach for simulation of coherent phenomena of multiple scattering in random media has been developed. We found that for scalar field the manifestation of these phenomena, observed as temporal field correlation function and coherent backscattering, are universal and well agreed with the results predicted by diffusion approximation. For the electromagnetic field the temporal correlation function and coherent backscattering are noticeably differ from those found for the scalar field, depending strongly on the scattering anisotropy. The obtained numerical results, for the first time to our knowledge, are compared directly with the known generalizations of the Milne solution.  相似文献

The incorporation of hydrogen within ultrananocrystalline diamond/amorphous carbon composite films has been investigated by nuclear reaction analysis (NRA) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The film bulk contains ca. 7.5–8% H (for a deposition temperature of 600 °C), while the H concentration in the surface region is considerably higher. FTIR measurements show that the hydrogen‐rich surface is formed right at the beginning of the deposition process and grows outward as the film thickness increases. It can thus be concluded that surface hydrogen species play an active role in the formation of ultrananocrystalline diamond/amorphous carbon films. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Carbon (C) atom and carbon dimer (C2) are known to be the main projectiles in the deposition of diamond-like carbon (DLC) films. The adsorption and diffusion of the C adatom and addimer (C2) on the fully relaxed Si(0 0 1)-(2 × 1) surface was studied by a combination of the molecular dynamics (MD) and Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. The adsorption sites of the C and C2 on the surface and the potential barriers between these sites were first determined using the semi-empirical many-body Brenner and Tersoff potential. We then estimated their hopping rates and traced their pathways. It is found that the diffusion of both C and C2 is strongly anisotropic in nature. In addition, the C adatom can diffuse a long distance on the surface while the adsorbed C2 is more likely to be confined in a local region. Thus we can expect that smoother films will be formed on the Si(0 0 1) surface with single C atoms as projectile at moderate temperature, while with C2 the films will grow in two-dimensional islands. In addition, relatively higher kinetic energy of the projectile, say, a few tens of eV, is needed to grow DLC films of higher quality. This is consistent with experimental findings.  相似文献

We derive Debye series expansion (DSE) for infinitely long multilayered cylinders normally incident by shaped beam. Typically the interaction between multilayered cylinders and Gaussian beam is derived in detail, and localized approximation is introduced to calculate the beam shaped coefficients. The focusing properties of circularly polarized vortex beam are experimentally verified by examining two-photon fluorescent emission patterns inside an fluorescent microsphere. Very good agreements between the experimental and theoretical results have been obtained. Annular pupil masks are used to tailor the profile at the focus. When an circularly polarized beam with the appropriate handedness is used in combination with an annular pupil aperture, a strong longitudinal component is observed, which results in a raised center and a smaller focal spot. This interesting focusing property can be utilized in applications that require a distinct longitudinal component.  相似文献

By capturing the atomic information and reflecting the behaviour governed by a nonlinear potential function, an analytical molecular mechanics approach is applied to establish the constitutive relation for single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). The nonlinear tensile deformation curves of zigzag and armchair nanotubes with different radii are predicted, and the elastic properties of these SWCNTs are obtained. A conclusion is made that the nanotube radius has little effect on the mechanical behaviour of SWCNTs subject to simple tension, while the nanotube orientation has larger influence.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigated both theoretically and experimentally the normalized spectrum of partially coherent light radiated from a secondary source which is produced by an imaging system. The experimental results show that, if the imaging lens is achromatic, the normalized spectrum of the light radiated from a secondary source shifts either towards the red side or towards the blue side, compared to the spectrum of the source, and the spectral shifts change for different position of the observation points. It is found that the experimental results are consistent with the theoretical ones. A chromatic lens, acting as the imaging lens, is used to investigate the effect of the chromatic aberration on the normalized spectrum of the light field. The results show that the influence of the chromatic aberration on the normalized spectrum is considerable and cannot be neglected in high-precision spectral measurement experiments.  相似文献

Aluminum silicate mesoporous material, ZnO/Al-SBA-15, was synthesized by post-synthesis and immobilization method via microwave-assisted route. Desulphurization tests from a gas mixture with low content H2S were carried out as the probing reaction on these materials. Chemical effects and the nature of the ZnO additive and textural properties on desulphurization capacity were studied over this material. Material was characterized using N2 adsorption, XRD, TEM, FTIR, XPS, ICP and other techniques. The analysis suggests that the as-synthesized material had well-ordered hexagonal mesopores and was abundant in micropores. ZnO nanoparticles dispersed well and anchored both in the channel and the wall of mesoporous silica. The material with 2.1 wt.% zinc loading presented the highest H2S uptake capacity. Both micropores and mesopores are active sites for H2S capture, especially micropores. The enhancement of H2S removal capacity was attributed to the integration of the pore structure of mesoporous material and the promising desulphurization properties of ZnO nanoparticles. ZnO/Al-SBA-15 could be an effective alternative to remove H2S from gaseous streams and it also extends the research of mesoporous material.  相似文献

The fundamental peculiarities of discrete diffraction in the two-dimensional waveguide arrays were studied. The discrete diffraction properties of such arrays can be effectively altered, depending upon the input conditions. By slightly changing the input conditions, light can experience normal diffraction in one-direction and experience anomalous diffraction in the other.  相似文献

Diamond film is an ultra-durable optical material with high thermal conductivity and good transmission in near-infrared and far-IR (8-14 μm) wavebands. CVD diamond is subjected to oxidation at temperature higher than 780 °C bared in air for 3 min, while it can be protected from oxidation for extended exposure in air at temperature up to 900 °C by a coating of aluminum nitride. Highly oriented AlN coatings were prepared for infrared windows on diamond films by reactive sputtering method and the average surface roughness (Ra) of the coatings was about 10 nm. The deposited films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atom force microscope (AFM). XRD confirmed the preferential orientation nature and AFM showed nanostructures. Optical properties of diamond films coated AlN thin film was investigated using infrared spectrum (IR) compared with that for as-grown diamond films.  相似文献

Diamond nucleation and growth in the combustion-flame method were monitored in real time using thermionic emission current from the deposited diamond films. It was observed that the emission current evolved over three periods, the incubation, the fast increase, and the saturation periods. Ball-shaped diamond particles, faceted diamond crystals, and diamond films with well-faceted crystals were formed in the three periods. The current from a diamond-seeded substrate started to increase immediately without an incubation period, confirming that the current is from the diamond. Therefore, the current could be used for real-time monitoring of the diamond nucleation and growth.  相似文献

Optical bistable behavior in a quasi-waveguide containing non-linear film has been experimentally investigated in several publications in the past years; however, the physical mechanism for optical bistability has not been theoretically explained. In the present letter, we propose a theoretical model and successfully explain the observed optical bistability of both the reflected light and the scattered light (m-lines) in a non-linear quasi-waveguide. The optical bistability in the non-linear quasi-waveguide is due to the scattering-type wavevector mismatch mechanism. Interest in hydrogen as a fuel has grown dramatically since 1990, and many advances in hydrogen production and utilization technologies have been made. However, hydrogen storage technologies must be significantly advanced if a hydrogen based energy system, particularly in the transportation sector, is to be established. Hydrogen can be made available on-board vehicles in containers of compressed or liquefied H2, in metal hydrides, via chemical storage or by gas-on-solid adsorption. Although each method possesses desirable characteristics, no approach satisfies all of the efficiency, size, weight, cost and safety requirements for transportation or utility use. Gas-on-solid adsorption is an inherently safe and potentially high energy density hydrogen storage method that could be extremely energy efficient. Consequently, the hydrogen storage properties of high surface area “activated” carbons have been extensively studied. However, activated carbons are ineffective in storing hydrogen because only a small fraction of the pores in the typically wide pore-size distribution are small enough to interact strongly with hydrogen molecules at room temperatures and moderate pressures. Recently, many new carbon nanostructured absorbents have been produced including graphite nanofibers and carbon multi-wall and single-wall nanotubes. The following review provides a brief history of the hydrogen adsorption studies on activated carbons and comments on the recent experimental and theoretical investigations of the hydrogen adsorption properties of the new nanostructured carbon materials. Diamond nucleation on copper (Cu) substrates was investigated by graphite seeding and CO2 laser irradiation at initial stages of the combustion-flame deposition. A graphite aerosol spray was used to generate a thin layer of graphite powders (less than 1 μm) on Cu substrates. The graphite-seeded Cu substrates were then heated by a continuous CO2 laser to about 750 °C within 1 min. It was found that diamond nucleation density after this treatment was more than three times as much as that on the virgin Cu substrates. As a consequence, diamond films up to 4 μm were obtained in 5 min. The enhancement of diamond nucleation on the graphite-seeded Cu substrates was attributed to the formation of defects and edges during the etching of the seeding graphite layers by the OH radicals in the flame. The defects and edges served as nucleation sites for diamond formation. The function of the CO2 laser was to rapidly heat the deposition areas to create a favorable temperature for diamond nucleation and growth.  相似文献

Cobalt content, grain size, microhardness and tensile strength of nanocrystalline Ni-Co deposits produced from a solution containing saccharin and cobalt sulfate at constant electrodeposition conditions (pulse on-time Ton at 1 ms and pulse off-time Toff at 15 ms) but varying the peak current density Jp were investigated. It is found that an increase in Jp makes the deposit Co content lower, colony-like morphology more obvious, grain size smaller, and hardness and tensile strength higher. All of the facts are believed to result from the higher overpotential and nucleation rates caused by the Jp increase. But its further increase could lead to reduction in the hardness and tensile strength. Peak current densities in the range of 100-120 A dm−2 are recommended for the preparation of nanostructured Ni-Co alloy deposits with grain sizes in the range of 15-20 nm, containing 7-8% Co, possessing hardness of 590-600 kg mm−2 and tensile strength of 1180-1200 MPa—significantly higher than the strength of pure nickel deposit which is produced by the similar method and gets similar grain size.  相似文献
