Let μ be a scalar measure of bounded variation on a compact metrizable abelian group G. Suppose that μ has the property that for any measure σ whose Fourier-Stieltjes transform vanishes at ∞, the measure μ*σ has Radon-Nikodým derivative with respect to λ, the Haar measure on G. Then L. Pigno and S. Saeki showed that μ itself has Radon-Nikodým derivative. Such property is not shared by vector measures in general. We say that a Banach space X has the near differentiability property if every X-valued measure of bounded variation shares the above property. We prove that Banach spaces with the Radon-Nikodým property have the near differentiability property, while Banach spaces with the near differentiability property enjoy the near Radon-Nikodým property. We also show that the Banach spaces L1[0,1] and have the near differentiability property. Lastly, we show that Banach spaces with the near differentiability property have type II-Λ-Radon-Nikodým property, whenever Λ is a Riesz subset of type 0 of .  相似文献

In this article, we define a natural Banach ∗-algebra for a C-dynamical system (A,G,α) which is slightly bigger than L1(G;A) (they are the same if A is finite-dimensional). We will show that this algebra is ∗-regular if G has polynomial growth. The main result in this article extends the two main results in [C.W. Leung, C.K. Ng, Functional calculus and ∗-regularity of a class of Banach algebras, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc., in press].  相似文献

Let τ be a representation of a compact group G on a Banach space (X,||·||). The question we address is whether X carries a unique invariant norm in the sense that ||·|| is the unique norm on X for which τ is a representation. We characterize the uniqueness of norm in terms of the automatic continuity of the invariant functionals in the case when X is a dual Banach space and τ is a -continuous representation of G on X such that τ(G) consists of -continuous operators. We illustrate the usefulness of this characterization by studying the uniqueness of the norm on the spaces Lp(Ω), where Ω is a locally compact Hausdorff space equipped with a positive Radon measure and G acts on Ω as a group of continuous invertible measure-preserving transformations.  相似文献

Suppose A is a Banach algebra and suppose is an approximate ring derivation in the sense of Hyers-Ulam-Rassias. This stability phenomenon was introduced for the first time in the subject of functional equations by Th.M. Rassias [Th.M. Rassias, On the stability of the linear mapping in Banach spaces, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 72 (1978) 297-300]. If A has an approximate identity, or if A is semisimple and commutative, then we prove that f is an exact ring derivation.  相似文献

The Hecke group algebra of a finite Coxeter group , as introduced by the first and last authors, is obtained from by gluing appropriately its 0-Hecke algebra and its group algebra. In this paper, we give an equivalent alternative construction in the case when is the finite Weyl group associated to an affine Weyl group W. Namely, we prove that, for q not a root of unity of small order, is the natural quotient of the affine Hecke algebra H(W)(q) through its level 0 representation. The proof relies on the following core combinatorial result: at level 0 the 0-Hecke algebra H(W)(0) acts transitively on . Equivalently, in type A, a word written on a circle can be both sorted and antisorted by elementary bubble sort operators. We further show that the level 0 representation is a calibrated principal series representation M(t) for a suitable choice of character t, so that the quotient factors (non-trivially) through the principal central specialization. This explains in particular the similarities between the representation theory of the 0-Hecke algebra and that of the affine Hecke algebra H(W)(q) at this specialization.  相似文献

Let G be a locally compact group and let B(G) be the dual space of C∗(G), the group C∗ algebra of G. The Fourier algebra A(G) is the closed ideal of B(G) generated by elements with compact support. The Fourier algebras have a natural operator space structure as preduals of von Neumann algebras. Given a completely bounded algebra homomorphism we show that it can be described, in terms of a piecewise affine map with Y in the coset ring of H, as follows

The aim of this paper is to study the set of isometric reflection vectors of a real Banach space X. We deal with geometry of isometric reflection vectors and parallelogram identity vectors, and we prove that a real Banach space is a Hilbert space if the set of parallelogram identity vectors has nonempty interior. It is also shown that every real Banach space can be decomposed as an Ir-sum of a Hilbert space and a Banach space with some points which are not isometric reflection vectors. Finally, we give a new proof of the Becerra-Rodríguez result: a real Banach space X is a Hilbert space if and only if is not rare.  相似文献

Column and row operator spaces—which we denote by COL and ROW, respectively—over arbitrary Banach spaces were introduced by the first-named author; for Hilbert spaces, these definitions coincide with the usual ones. Given a locally compact group G and p,p′∈(1,∞) with , we use the operator space structure on to equip the Figà-Talamanca-Herz algebra Ap(G) with an operator space structure, turning it into a quantized Banach algebra. Moreover, we show that, for p?q?2 or 2?q?p and amenable G, the canonical inclusion Aq(G)⊂Ap(G) is completely bounded (with cb-norm at most , where is Grothendieck's constant). As an application, we show that G is amenable if and only if Ap(G) is operator amenable for all—and equivalently for one—p∈(1,∞); this extends a theorem by Ruan.  相似文献

Let G be a locally compact group and let p∈(1,∞). Let be any of the Banach spaces Cδ,p(G), PFp(G), Mp(G), APp(G), WAPp(G), UCp(G), PMp(G), of convolution operators on Lp(G). It is shown that PFp(G)′ can be isometrically embedded into UCp(G)′. The structure of maximal regular ideals of (and of MAp(G)″, Bp(G)″, Wp(G)″) is studied. Among other things it is shown that every maximal regular left (right, two sided) ideal in is either dense or is the annihilator of a unique element in the spectrum of Ap(G). Minimal ideals of is also studied. It is shown that a left ideal M in is minimal if and only if , where Ψ is either a right annihilator of or is a topologically x-invariant element (for some xG). Some results on minimal right ideals are also given.  相似文献

Very few Banach spaces E are known for which the lattice of closed ideals in the Banach algebra of all (bounded, linear) operators on E is fully understood. Indeed, up to now the only such Banach spaces are, up to isomorphism, Hilbert spaces and the sequence spaces c0 and ?p for 1?p<∞. We add a new member to this family by showing that there are exactly four closed ideals in for the Banach space E?(⊕?2n)c0, that is, E is the c0-direct sum of the finite-dimensional Hilbert spaces ?21,?22,…,?2n,… .  相似文献

We investigate if, for a locally compact group G, the Fourier algebra A(G) is biflat in the sense of quantized Banach homology. A central rôle in our investigation is played by the notion of an approximate indicator of a closed subgroup of G: The Fourier algebra is operator biflat whenever the diagonal in G×G has an approximate indicator. Although we have been unable to settle the question of whether A(G) is always operator biflat, we show that, for , the diagonal in G×G fails to have an approximate indicator.  相似文献

We show that McShane and Pettis integrability coincide for functions , where μ is any finite measure. On the other hand, assuming the Continuum Hypothesis, we prove that there exist a weakly Lindelöf determined Banach space X, a scalarly null (hence Pettis integrable) function and an absolutely summing operator u from X to another Banach space Y such that the composition is not Bochner integrable; in particular, h is not McShane integrable.  相似文献

We extend the definition, from the class of abelian groups to a general locally compact group G, of Feichtinger's remarkable Segal algebra S0(G). In order to obtain functorial properties for non-abelian groups, in particular a tensor product formula, we endow S0(G) with an operator space structure. With this structure S0(G) is simultaneously an operator Segal algebra of the Fourier algebra A(G), and of the group algebra L1(G). We show that this operator space structure is consistent with the major functorial properties: (i) completely isomorphically (operator projective tensor product), if H is another locally compact group; (ii) the restriction map is completely surjective, if H is a closed subgroup; and (iii) is completely surjective, where N is a normal subgroup and . We also show that S0(G) is an invariant for G when it is treated simultaneously as a pointwise algebra and a convolutive algebra.  相似文献

Let G be a connected Lie group with the Lie algebra . The action of Cameron-Martin space on the path space Pe(G) introduced by L. Gross (Illinois J. Math. 36 (1992) 447) is free. Using this fact, we define the H-distance on Pe(G), which enables us to establish a transportation cost inequality on Pe(G). This method will be generalized to the path space over the loop group , so that we obtain a transportation cost inequality for heat measures on .  相似文献

Boundedness of the Hardy operator and its adjoint is characterized between Banach function spaces Xq and Lp. By applying a limiting procedure, corresponding boundedness of the geometric mean operator is also derived.  相似文献

We apply semigroup theory and other operator-theoretic methods to prove Hölder-continuous dependence on modeling for the inhomogeneous ill-posed Cauchy problem in Banach space. The inhomogeneous ill-posed Cauchy problem is given by , u(0)=χ, 0?t<T; where −A is the infinitesimal generator of a holomorphic semigroup on a Banach space X, χX, and . For a suitable function f, the approximate problem is given by , v(0)=χ. Under certain stabilizing conditions, we prove that for a related norm, where and M are computable constants independent of β, 0<β<1, and ω(t) is a harmonic function. These results extend earlier work of Ames and Hughes on the homogeneous ill-posed problem.  相似文献

Let G1⊂G be a closed subgroup of a locally compact group G and let X=G/G1 be the quotient space of left cosets. Let X=(C0(X),ΔX) be the corresponding G-C-algebra where G=(C0(G),Δ). Suppose that Γ is a closed abelian subgroup of G1 and let Ψ be a 2-cocycle on the dual group . Let GΨ be the Rieffel deformation of G. Using the results of the previous paper of the author we may construct GΨ-C-algebra XΨ - the Rieffel deformation of X. On the other hand we may perform the Rieffel deformation of the subgroup G1 obtaining the closed quantum subgroup , which in turn, by the results of S. Vaes, leads to the GΨ-C-algebra . In this paper we show that . We also consider the case where Γ⊂G is not a subgroup of G1, for which we cannot construct the subgroup . Then generically XΨ cannot be identified with a quantum quotient. What may be shown is that it is a GΨ-simple object in the category of GΨ-C-algebras.  相似文献

Let G be a simply-connected complex Lie group with simple Lie algebra g and let be its affine Lie algebra. We use intertwining operators and Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations to construct a family of N-graded vertex operator algebras (VOAs) associated to g. These vertex operator algebras contain the algebra of regular functions on G as the conformal weight 0 subspaces and are -modules of dual levels in the sense that , where h is the dual Coxeter number of g. This family of VOAs was previously studied by Arkhipov-Gaitsgory and Gorbounov-Malikov-Schechtman from different points of view. We show that when k is irrational, the vertex envelope of the vertex algebroid associated to G and the level k is isomorphic to the vertex operator algebra we constructed above. The case of rational levels is also discussed.  相似文献
