This paper is devoted to the problem of existence of positive solution for a delay differential equation with fractional order. Some sufficient conditions for its existence of positive solution are given. Chaotic behaviour of the map x ↦ ω(x, f)

Let K(2^?) be the class of compact subsets of the Cantor space 2^?, furnished with the Hausdorff metric. Let f ∈ C(2^?). We study the map ω _f : 2 ^? → K(2^?) defined as ω _f (x) = ω(x, f), the ω-limit set of x under f. Unlike the case of n-dimensional manifolds, n ≥ 1, we show that ω _f is continuous for the generic self-map f of the Cantor space, even though the set of functions for which ω _f is everywhere discontinuous on a subsystem is dense in C(2^?). The relationships between the continuity of ω _f and some forms of chaos are investigated.     

One-Sided Boundary Control for the Process of Oscillations Described by the Equation k(x)[k(x)u x (x,t)] x − u tt (x,t) = 0

This article concerns the boundary control on the side x = 0 when the other side x = l is fixed. The corresponding process of oscillations is studied for the time interval T > 0 and is described by the generalized solution of the equation

Automatic quadrature of functions of the formg(¦f(x¦)

The standard routine QAGE from Quadpack is modified to allow the efficient evaluation of integrals of the form _a ^b g(¦f(x)¦)dx, wheref andg are assumed to be smooth. Using function values available during the adaptive integration process, zeros off are found and used as subdivision points. The technique compares favourably with both the original bisection strategy and the nonuniform trisection strategy of Berntsen et al. The modified algorithm extends the class of integrals that can be integrated with an automatic code, since it copes with problem integrals that can not be integrated using the bisection or trisection strategies.     

Elements of high order in finite fields of the form Fq[x]/Φr(x)

We obtain explicit lower bounds on multiplicative orders of finite field elements that have more general form than Gauss periods of a special type. This bound improves in a partial case of Gauss period the previous bound of Ahmadi, Shparlinski and Voloch (2010) [2].

Bounds on the degree of APN polynomials: the case of x ?1?+?g(x)

In this paper we consider APN functions ${f:\mathcal{F}_{2^m}\to \mathcal{F}_{2^m}}$ of the form f(x) = x ^?1 + g(x) where g is any non ${\mathcal{F}_{2}}$ -affine polynomial. We prove a lower bound on the degree of the polynomial g. This bound in particular implies that such a function f is APN on at most a finite number of fields ${\mathcal{F}_{2^m}}$ . Furthermore we prove that when the degree of g is less than 7 such functions are APN only if m ?? 3 where these functions are equivalent to x ³.     

Differential structure of certainC(X) xα Z

In this paper, we show that, without involving theC*-bundle theory, elementary differential topology can do the classification of homogeneousC*-crossed productC(X) x Z, whereX is a compact differentiable manifold of low dimension and is a diffeomorphism ofX. The motivation of this work is the Shultz's theorem which states that aC*-algebra can be identified with its pure state space carryingw*-topology and certain geometric structure.
