The optical Stark effect and quantum beats in a GaAs/AlGaAs quantum well are investigated theoretically for the case when the first two electron size-quantization levels are mixed dynamically by a high-intensity CO2 laser pulse polarized perpendicular to the plane of the quantum well. The quasienergy spectrum of heavy-hole excitons and the ratio between the probabilities of exciton transition with and without a strong electromagnetic field are obtained. The time-dependent intensity of absorption of the sensing light is determined. It exhibits quantum beats at twice the electron Rabi frequency. Fiz. Tverd. We report the first experimental study of the optical Stark effect in single semiconductor quantum dots (QD). For below band gap excitation, two-color pump-probe spectra show dispersive line shapes caused by a light-induced blueshift of the excitonic resonance. The line shape depends strongly on the excitation field strength and is determined by the pump-induced phase shift of the coherent QD polarization. Transient spectral oscillations can be understood as rotations of the QD polarization phase with negligible population change. Ultrafast control of the QD polarization is demonstrated.  相似文献

The shapes of nine doubly ionized antimony (Sb III) spectral lines have been obtained in the laboratory helium plasma at 17 500 K electron temperature and electron density of . Measured line profiles are of a Voigt type. At the mentioned plasma conditions the Stark broadening has been found as the dominant mechanism in the Sb III line shapes formation. Using a deconvolution procedure the Lorentz (Stark) FWHM (Full-Width at Half of the Maximal intensity, W) have been obtained. Our measured Sb III Stark widths are the first data in the literature. The modified version of the linear, low-pressure, pulsed arc was used as a plasma source operated in helium with antimony atoms, as impurities. They were evaporated from the thin antimony layer, deposited on the silver cylindrical plates, located in the homogenous part of the discharge. This plasma source ensures good conditions for the generation of the doubly ionized antimony atoms in the helium plasma due to atomic processes concerning helium metastables.  相似文献

Optical nutation in the exciton range of spectrum is studied in the mean field approximation taking into account exciton-photon and elastic exciton-exciton interactions. It is shown that the features of nutation development are determined by the initial exciton and photon densities, the resonance detuning, the nonlinearity parameter, and the initial phase difference. For nonzero initial exciton and photon concentrations, three regimes of temporal evolution of excitons and photons exist: periodic conversion of excitons to photons and vice versa, aperiodic conversion of photons to excitons, and the rest regime. In the rest regime, the initial exciton and photon densities are nonzero and do not change with time. The oscillation amplitudes and periods of particle densities determined by the system parameters are found. The exciton self-trapping and photon trapping appearing in the system at threshold values of the nonlinearity parameter were predicted. As this parameter increases, the oscillation amplitudes of the exciton and photon densities sharply change at the critical value of the nonlinearity parameter. These two phenomena are shown to be caused by the elastic exciton-exciton interaction, resulting in the dynamic concentration shift of the exciton level.  相似文献

We report on the observation of spin-dependent optically dressed states and the optical Stark effect on an individual Mn spin in a semiconductor quantum dot. The vacuum-to-exciton or the exciton-to-biexciton transitions in a Mn-doped quantum dot are optically dressed by a strong laser field, and the resulting spectral signature is measured in photoluminescence. We demonstrate that the energy of any spin state of a Mn atom can be independently tuned by using the optical Stark effect induced by a control laser. High resolution spectroscopy reveals a power-, polarization-, and detuning-dependent Autler-Townes splitting of each optical transition of the Mn-doped quantum dot. This experiment demonstrates an optical resonant control of the exciton-Mn system.  相似文献

A gas-discharge source of light is proposed for investigation of the Stark effect by the method of canal rays in fields of up to 200 kV/cm intensity. Measurements of displacements of 12 spectral lines of xenon in the region of 4300–5000 Å (2p-1s and 3p-1s transitions) were conducted. For seven spectral lines the Stark shifts were measured for the first time. The theory of the vibrational Stark effect of adsorbates is discussed. In particular, the reported linear variation of CO vibrational frequency with potential difference across the Pt-electrolyte interface is shown to be consistent with a recent measurement of the Stark tuning rate of CO on Ni [110] in UHV and the differential capacitance of the Pt-electrolyte interface. We also demonstrate that the Stark tuning rate of CO on Ni [110] is itself in agreement with theoretical prediction. Our vibrational Hamiltonian applies to atomic adsorbates and molecules. It relates frequency shifts of the adsorbate to the local electric field at an adsorbate free surface.  相似文献

We report the photoluminescence and absorption spectra of the bound exciton in Si:Tl. Four lines are observed in both spectra in contrast to three lines observed in the Al, Ga, In doped Si. The total oscillator strength is approximately 4x10-4 continuing a trend of increasing oscillator strength with binding energy.  相似文献

Optical absorption from the self-trapped exciton (STE) to its higher excited states has been observed in solid Ar, Kr, and Xe. A new absorption peak of Ar12 is found. Comparison of solid, liquid and gas phase data provides evidence of the similarity of level structures of Ar12 and STE. Tentative assignments of the observed transitions are also made.  相似文献

Formulae for the oscillator strength of optical transitions, at which excitons trapped at a lattice defect are formed, were deduced by means of the effective mass method. The magnitude of the necessary interband elements characterizing the band structure can be deduced e.g. from the measured oscillator strength of free excitons. The resulting formulae were used for investigating the assumptions of an exciton mechanism of infrared lumínescence in Cu2O.The author wishes to express his indebtedness to Dr. M. With the exciton lifetime much extended in semiconductor quantum-well structures, the exciton transport and Bose-Einstein condensation have become a focus of research in recent years. We reveal a momentum-space gauge field in the exciton center-of-mass dynamics due to Berry phase effects. We predict a spin-dependent transport of the excitons analogous to the anomalous Hall and Nernst effects for electrons. We also predict spin-dependent circulation of a trapped exciton gas and instability in an exciton condensate in favor of vortex formation.  相似文献
