Let F n be the free group of rank n, and let Aut+(F n ) be its special automorphism group. For an epimorphism π : F n G of the free group F n onto a finite group G we call the standard congruence subgroup of Aut+(F n ) associated to G and π. In the case n = 2 we fully describe the abelianization of Γ+(G, π) for finite abelian groups G. Moreover, we show that if G is a finite non-perfect group, then Γ+(G, π) ≤ Aut+(F 2) has infinite abelianization.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group. The main result of this paper is as follows: If G is a finite group, such that Γ(G) = Γ(2G2(q)), where q = 32n+1 for some n ≥ 1, then G has a (unique) nonabelian composition factor isomorphic to 2 G 2(q). We infer that if G is a finite group satisfying |G| = |2 G 2(q)| and Γ(G) = Γ (2 G 2(q)) then G ? = 2 G 2(q). This enables us to give new proofs for some theorems; e.g., a conjecture of W. Shi and J. Bi. Some applications of this result are also considered to the problem of recognition by element orders of finite groups.  相似文献

All groups considered in this paper will be finite. Our main result here is the following theorem. Let G be a solvable group in which the Sylow p-subgroups are either bicyclic or of order p 3 for any pπ(G). Then the derived length of G is at most 6. In particular, if G is an A4-free group, then the following statements are true: (1) G is a dispersive group; (2) if no prime qπ(G) divides p 2 + p + 1 for any prime pπ(G), then G is Ore dispersive; (3) the derived length of G is at most 4.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group. Let X 1(G) be the first column of the ordinary character table of G. We will show that if X 1(G) = X1(PGU3(q 2)), then G ? PGU3(q 2). As a consequence, we show that the projective general unitary groups PGU3(q 2) are uniquely determined by the structure of their complex group algebras.  相似文献

Let AG(n, F q) be the n-dimensional affine space over F q, where F q is a finite field with q elements. Denote by Γ (m) the graph induced by m-flats of AG(n, F q). For any two adjacent vertices E and F of is studied. In particular, sizes of maximal cliques in Γ (m) are determined and it is shown that Γ (m) is not edge-regular when m<n−1. The j-function j(z) = q−1+ 744 + 196884q + ⋅s plays an important role in many problems. In [7], Zagier, presented an interesting series of functions obtained from the j-function: jm(ζ) = (j(ζ) – 744)∨T0(m), where T0(m) is the usual m′th normalized weight 0 Hecke operator. In [3], Bruinier et al. show how this series of functions can be used to describe all meromorphic modular forms on SL2(ℤ). In this note we use these functions and basic notions about modular forms to determine previously unidentified congruence relations between the coefficients of Eisenstein series and the j-function. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: Primary–11B50, 11F03, 11F30 The author thanks the National Science Foundation for their generous support.  相似文献

The prime graph of a finite group G is denoted by Γ(G). In this paper as the main result, we show that if G is a finite group such that Γ(G) = Γ(F 4(q)), where q = 2 n  > 2, then G has a unique nonabelian composition factor isomorphic to F 4(q). We also show that if G is a finite group satisfying |G| = |F 4(q)| and Γ(G) = Γ(F 4(q)), where q = 2 n  > 2, then G @ F4(q){G \cong F_4(q)}. As a consequence of our result we give a new proof for a conjecture of Shi and Bi for F 4(q) where q = 2 n  > 2.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group. We define the prime graph Γ(G) as follows. The vertices of Γ(G) are the primes dividing the order of G and two distinct vertices p, q are joined by an edge if there is an element in G of order pq. Recently M. Hagie [5] determined finite groups G satisfying Γ(G) = Γ(S), where S is a sporadic simple group. Let p > 3 be a prime number. In this paper we determine finite groups G such that Γ(G) = Γ(PSL(2, p)). As a consequence of our results we prove that if p > 11 is a prime number and p ≢ 1 (mod 12), then PSL(2, p) is uniquely determined by its prime graph and so these groups are characterizable by their prime graph. In [1], we defined c(G), q(G) and p(G). In this paper we will show that if G is a p-group, where p is an odd prime and |G| ≤ p 4, then c(G) = q(G) = p(G). However, the question of whether or not there is a p-group G with strict inequality c(G) = q(G) < p(G) is still open.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of L 2-rigidity for von Neumann algebras, a generalization of property (T) which can be viewed as an analogue for the vanishing of 1-cohomology into the left regular representation of a group. We show that L 2-rigidity passes to normalizers and is satisfied by nonamenable II1 factors which are non-prime, have property Γ, or are weakly rigid. As a consequence we obtain that if M is a free product of diffuse von Neumann algebras, or if M=LΓ where Γ is a finitely generated group with β1 (2)(Γ)>0, then any nonamenable regular subfactor of M is prime and does not have properties Γ or (T). In particular this gives a new approach for showing solidity for a free group factor thus recovering a well known recent result of N. Ozawa.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group, and let π e (G) be the spectrum of G, that is, the set of all element orders of G. In 1987, Shi Wujie put forward the following conjecture. If G is a finite group and M is a non-abelian simple group, then GM if and only if |G| = |M| and π e (G) = π e (M). In this short paper, we prove that if G is a finite group, then GM if and only if |G| = |M| and π e (G) = π e (M), where M = D n (2) and n is even.  相似文献

A finite group G is called p i -central of height k if every element of order p i of G is contained in the k th -term ζ k (G) of the ascending central series of G. If p is odd, such a group has to be p-nilpotent (Thm. A). Finite p-central p-groups of height p − 2 can be seen as the dual analogue of finite potent p-groups, i.e., for such a finite p-group P the group P1(P) is also p-central of height p − 2 (Thm. B). In such a group P, the index of P p is less than or equal to the order of the subgroup Ω1(P) (Thm. C). If the Sylow p-subgroup P of a finite group G is p-central of height p − 1, p odd, and N G (P) is p-nilpotent, then G is also p-nilpotent (Thm. D). Moreover, if G is a p-soluble finite group, p odd, and P ∈ Syl p (G) is p-central of height p − 2, then N G (P) controls p-fusion in G (Thm. E). It is well-known that the last two properties hold for Swan groups (see [11]).  相似文献

The so-called weakly d-Koszul-type module is introduced and it turns out that each weakly d-Koszul-type module contains a d-Koszul-type submodule. It is proved that, M ∈ W H J^d(A) if and only if M admits a filtration of submodules: 0 belong to U0 belong to U1 belong to ... belong to Up = M such that all Ui/Ui-1 are d-Koszul-type modules, from which we obtain that the finitistic dimension conjecture holds in W H J^d(A) in a special case. Let M ∈ W H J^d(A). It is proved that the Koszul dual E(M) is Noetherian, Hopfian, of finite dimension in special cases, and E(M) ∈ gr0(E(A)). In particular, we show that M ∈ W H J^d(A) if and only if E(G(M)) ∈ gr0(E(A)), where G is the associated graded functor.  相似文献

In this paper, we characterize a C *-subalgebra C *(x) of B(H), generated by a single operator x. We show that if x is polar-decomposed by aq, where a is the partial isometry part and q is the positive operator part of x, then C *(x) is *-isomorphic to the groupoid crossed product algebra Aq×a\mathbbGa\mathcal{A}_{q}\times_{\alpha }\mathbb{G}_{a} , where Aq=C*(q)\mathcal{A}_{q}=C^{*}(q) and \mathbbGa\mathbb{G}_{a} is the graph groupoid induced by a partial isometry part a of x.  相似文献

A group G is said to be capable if it is isomorphic to the central factor group H/Z(H) for some group H. Let G be a nonabelian group of order p 2 q for distinct primes p and q. In this paper, we compute the nonabelian tensor square of the group G. It is also shown that G is capable if and only if either Z(G) = 1 or p < q and Gab=\mathbbZp×\mathbbZp{G^{\rm ab}=\mathbb{Z}_{p}\times\mathbb{Z}_{p}} .  相似文献

This paper investigates the s-energy of (finite and infinite) well separated sequences of spherical designs on the unit sphere S 2. A spherical n-design is a point set on S 2 that gives rise to an equal weight cubature rule which is exact for all spherical polynomials of degree ≤n. The s-energy E s (X) of a point set of m distinct points is the sum of the potential for all pairs of distinct points . A sequence Ξ = {X m } of point sets X m S 2, where X m has the cardinality card(X m )=m, is well separated if for each pair of distinct points , where the constant λ is independent of m and X m . For all s>0, we derive upper bounds in terms of orders of n and m(n) of the s-energy E s (X m(n)) for well separated sequences Ξ = {X m(n)} of spherical n-designs X m(n) with card(X m(n))=m(n).   相似文献

For 0 < α < mn and nonnegative integers n ≥ 2, m ≥ 1, the multilinear fractional integral is defined by
where = (y 1,y 2, ···, y m ) and denotes the m-tuple (f 1,f 2, ···, f m ). In this note, the one-weighted and two-weighted boundedness on L p (ℝ n ) space for multilinear fractional integral operator I α(m) and the fractional multi-sublinear maximal operator M α(m) are established respectively. The authors also obtain two-weighted weak type estimate for the operator M α(m). We introduce a new class of graphs which we call P 3-dominated graphs. This class properly contains all quasi-claw-free graphs, and hence all claw-free graphs. Let G be a 2-connected P 3-dominated graph. We prove that G is hamiltonian if α(G 2) ≤ κ(G), with two exceptions: K 2,3 and K 1,1,3. We also prove that G is hamiltonian, if G is 3-connected and |V(G)| ≤ 5δ(G) − 5. These results extend known results on (quasi-)claw-free graphs. Let G be a locally compact group, ω be a weight function on G and 1 < p < ∞. Here, we give a sufficient condition for that the weighted L p -space L p (G, ω) is a Banach algebra. Also, we get some necessary conditions on G and the weight function ω for L p (G, ω) to be a Banach algebra. As a consequence, we show that if G is abelian and L p (G, ω) is a Banach algebra, then G is σ-compact.  相似文献
