Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Luminescence Property of [Co(hmz)_2(H_2O)_4]·2H_2O

A new mononuclear Co(II) complex, [Co(hmz)2(H2O)4]·2H2O, has been synthesized by the reaction of Co(CH3COO)2·4H2O with 1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-5-mercaptotetrazole (Hhmz). It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/n with a = 13.502(5), b = 6.718(3), c = 13.972(6) , β = 117.532(4)o, V = 1123.9(8) 3, Z = 2, M r = 553.45, F(000) = 570, Dc = 1.635 g/cm3, μ = 1.008 mm–1, the final R = 0.0272 and wR = 0.0684 for 2194 observed reflections (I > 2σ(I)). The Co(II) is six-coordinated by two nitrogen atoms from two hmz–1 ligands and four water molecules, forming an octahedral geometry. The intermolecular hydrogen bonding and offset-panel π-π stacking interactions between the adjacent molecules extend the compound into a three- dimensional supramolecular framework. The title compound emits strong blue fluorescent light (λem(max) = 427 nm) at room temperature and is red-shifted compared with free ligand Hhmz (λem(max) = 342 nm).

Synthesis,Crystal Structure and Property of a Binuclear Copper Complex [Cu_2L_2(pht)_2]_2·H_2O

A new binuclear copper complex, [Cu2L2(pht)2]2·H2O(Hpht = 5,5-diphenylhydantoin, i.e. phenytoin; L = 2-diethylaminoethanol), has been synthesized by the solvothermal method, and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal belongs to the monoclinic system, space group C2/c with a = 31.918(3), b = 12.9222(15), c = 19.868(2) , β = 98.762(2)o, V = 8098.8(16) 3, Dc = 1.429 Mg/m3, Z = 4, F(000) = 3640, μ = 1.107 mm-1, R = 0.0560 and wR = 0.1276(I 2(I)). Each copper(Ⅱ) in a molecule is coordinated with N and O atoms from ligand L and N atom from ligand Hpht in a tetradentate manner. Moreover, two copper(Ⅱ) centers are bridged by two O atoms of hydroxyl groups from two L ligands to form a slightly distorted binuclear {Cu2O2} diamond configuration. In addition, the interaction of this complex with calf thymus DNA(CT-DNA) was investigated by UV-vis spectrum and viscometry, and the complex may bind to DNA through intercalation.

Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Electrochemical Properties of [Ni(phen)_3]·(m-nitrobenzoic acid)_2·(H_2O)

A new nickel(II) coordination complex [Ni(phen)3]·(m-nitrobenzoic acid)2·(H2O) was synthesized by self-assembly of m-nitrobenzoic acid, 1,10-phenanthroline and nickelous per- chlorate. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group C2/c, with a = 2.4596(6), b = 1.2124(3), c = 1.9824(5) nm, β = 97.088(5)o, V = 5.866(3) nm3, Dc = 1.474 g/cm3, Z = 4, Mr = 1301.82, μ(MoKα) = 0.417 mm-1 F(000) = 2688, R = 0.0493 and wR = 0.1025. Structural deter- mination indicates that the nickel(II) ion is coordinated with six nitrogen atoms from three phens, giving a distorted octahedral coordination geometry. A novel coordination polymer [{Cd(hmbdc)(H2O)3}·2H2O]n (hmbdc = 5-hydroxy- isophthalic acid) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal belongs to monoclinic, space group P21/c, with a = 9.599(3), b = 18.699(5), c = 7.557(2) , β = 108.198(4)°, V = 1288.6(6) 3, Z = 4, Mr = 382.60, Dc = 1.972 g/cm3, F(000) = 760, μ = 1.740, the final R = 0.0555 and wR = 0.0995 for 1732 observed reflections with I > 2σ(I). The structural analysis shows that the intermolecular hydrogen bonds and π-π interactions result in a three-dimensional supramolecular framework.

A novel complex [Zn(FcCOO)2(2,2'-bipy)(H2O)]2·H2O (Fc = (η5-C5H5)Fe(η5-C5H4), 2,2'-bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in monoclinic system, space group P21/c with a = 6.8187(4), b = 21.7155(13), c = 19.7411(12) A, α = 90, β = 97.7420(10), γ = 90o, C64H58Fe4Zn2N4O11, Mr = 1413.28, V = 2896.4(3) A3, Dc = 1.620 g/cm3, Z = 2, F(000) = 1444, μ(MoKα) = 1.857 mm-1, R = 0.0523 and wR = 0.0982 for 3219 observed reflections (I > 2σ(I)). Structural analysis shows that the zinc atom is coordinated with three oxygen atoms from two ferrocenemonocarboxylates and one water molecule together with two nitrogen atoms from 2,2'-bipyridine, giving a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. The complex molecules are linked to form an infinite one-dimensional chain by both intermolecular hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking interactions of the bipyridine rings.

Solvothermal Synthesis,Crystal Structure and Electrochemical Property of Complex [Co(p-MBA)_2(2,2′-bipy)(H_2O)]·(H_2O)

One novel complex [Co(p-MBA)2(2,2′-bipy)(H2O)]·(H2O) has been synthesized by the reaction of p-methylbenzoic acid with 2,2′-bipyridine in the solvent mixture of water and methanol. It crystallizes in triclinic,space group P1 with a=0.70479(14),b=1.1211(2),c=1.6718(3) nm,α=103.806(3),β=90.795(3),γ=104.207(3)o,V=1.2399(4) nm3,Mr=512.41,Dc=1.373 g/cm3,Z=2,F(000)=532,μ=0.733 mm-1,R= 0.0432 and wR=0.0957. The crystal structural analysis shows that the cobalt atom is coordinated with three oxygen atoms from two p-methylbenzoic acids and one water molecule and two nitrogen atoms from one 2,2′-bipyridine,forming a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. The cyclic voltammetry behavior of the complex is also reported.

A novel coordination complex [Zn(bipy)2(H2O)4]·L·3H2O (1, bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine, LHNa = aniline-2,5-disulfonic acid monosodium salt) has been synthesized from LHNa by using hydrothermal method and structurally characterized. The result indicates that complex 1 belongs to the monoclinic system, space group P21/c with a = 20.392(3), b = 7.4052(12), c = 23.843(3) , β = 116.253(10)°, V = 3.2291(8) 3, Z = 4, Dc = 1.553 g·cm-3, μ = 0.962 mm-1, F(000) = 1568, and the final R = 0.0497 and wR = 0.1290. The complex 1 has a 0-D discrete structure, and generates an infinite 3-D network with the aid of O–H…O hydrogen bonds and π-π interactions.

Weak coordinate bond is formed between oxygen atom in DMSO and Pb(Ⅱ ) . There are also weak interactions,such as π-π interaction,hydrogen bonds and so on,among the complex molecules.

Hydrothermal Synthesis,Crystal Structure and Electrochemical Properties of Complex [Cd(phen)_3]·(ClO_4)_2·(p-MBA)_2·(H_2O)_2

One new cadmium complex [Cd(phen)3]·(ClO4)2·(p-MBA)2·(H2O)2 has been hydro-thermally synthesized by reacting p-methylbenzoic acid (p-MBA),1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and cadmium perchlorate. It crystallizes in the triclinic system,space group P1,with a=1.2809(3),b= 1.3431(3),c=1.3734(3) nm,α=84.259(4),β=71.603(3),γ=74.424(3)o,V=2.1594(8) nm3,Dc= 1.532 g/cm3,Z=2,F(000)=1008,μ=0.697 mm-1,R=0.0646 and wR=0.1648. The crystal structure shows that the cadmium ion is coordinated with six nitrogen atoms from three 1,10-phenanthroline molecules,forming a distorted octahedral coordination geometry. The result of electrochemical property analysis shows that the electron transfer in the electrode reaction is irreversible.     

Synthesis and Crystal Structure of a Novel 1D Coordination Polymer:[Pr(BYBA)_3(H_2O)_2]·[Pr(BYBA)_3(H_2O)]

The novel coordination polymer [Pr(BYBA)3(H2O)2]·[Pr(BYBA)3(H2O)] (BYBAH=2-benzoylbenzoic acid) was yielded by hydrothermal synthesis,determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction,and characterized by FT-IR and UV-Vis spectra. The crystal crystallizes in the triclinic system,space group P1 with a=9.112(3),b=14.644(5),c=27.076(11),α=84.223(3),β= 87.816(4),γ=88.902(4)o,V=3592(2)3,C84H60O21Pr2,Mr=1687.14,Z=2,F(000)=1700,Dc= 1.560 g/cm3,μ=1.419 mm-1,the final R=0.0485 and wR=0.1258 for 13035 observed reflections with I > 2σ(I). The compound contains two different building units,[Pr2(BYBA)6(H2O)4] and [Pr2(BYBA)6(H2O)2]. It is noticeable that [Pr2(BYBA)6(H2O)4] is an isolated binuclear building block,in which the Pr3+ ion centers are both located in an eight-coordinated environment. However,in [Pr2(BYBA)6(H2O)2] the Pr3+ ion centers are located in a nine-coordinated environment and connected by BYBA ligands to form 1D chains.
