The aim of this paper is to study the dynamics of a delayed business cycle model with general investment function. The model describes the interaction of the gross product and capital stock. Furthermore, the delay represents the time between the decision of investment and implementation. Firstly, we show that the model is well posed by proving the global existence and boundedness of solutions. Secondly, we determine the economic equilibrium of the model. By analyzing the characteristic equation, we investigate the stability of the economic equilibrium and the local existence of Hopf bifurcation. Also, the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are derived by applying the normal form method and center manifold theory. Moreover, the global existence of bifurcating periodic solutions is established by using the global Hopf bifurcation theory. Finally, our theoretical results are illustrated with some numerical simulations.

The global dynamics of an SIRS model with a nonlinear incidence rate is investigated. We establish a threshold for a disease to be extinct or endemic, analyze the existence and asymptotic stability of equilibria, and verify the existence of bistable states, i.e., a stable disease free equilibrium and a stable endemic equilibrium or a stable limit cycle. In particular, we find that the model admits stability switches as a parameter changes. We also investigate the backward bifurcation, the Hopf bifurcation and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation and obtain the Hopf bifurcation criteria and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation curves, which are important for making strategies for controlling a disease.  相似文献

Using codimension-two bifurcation analysis in the Chay neuron model, the relationship between the electric activities and the parameters of neurons is revealed. The whole parameter space is divided into two parts, that is, the firing and silence regions of neurons. It is found that the transition sets between firing and silence regions are composed of the Hopf bifurcation curves of equilibrium states and the saddle-node bifurcation curves of limit cycles, with some codimension-two bifurcation points. The transitions from silence to firing in neurons are due to the Hopf bifurcation or the fold limit cycle bifurcation, but the codimension-two singularities lead to complexity in dynamical behaviour of neuronal firing.  相似文献

A multiparameter predator–prey system generalizing the model introduced in [6] is considered. The system studied in this paper corresponds to the type of models with exponential fading memory where the logistic per capita rate growth of the prey is given by an arbitrary function of class Ck, k ≥ 3. We prove that the model has a Hopf bifurcation and that there exist open sets in the parameter space such that the system exhibits singular attractors and asymptotically stable limit cycles. A numerical simulation is conducted in order to show the existence of critical attractor elements. As pointed out by Ayala et al. in [14], the Lotka–Volterra model of interspecific competition, which is based on the logistic theory of population growth and assumes that the intra and interspecific competitive interactions between species are linear, does not explain satisfactorily the population dynamics of some species. This is due to fact that the model does not take into account some important features of the population, which affect its dynamics. The model introduced in this paper provides independent conditions of these facts, for the existence of a Hopf bifurcation and the asymptotically stable limit cycles.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with complex dynamical behaviors of a simple unified SIR and HIV disease model with a convex incidence and four real parameters. Due to the complex nature of the disease dynamics, our goal is to explore bifurcations including multistable states, limit cycles, and homoclinic loops in the whole parameter space. The first contribution is the proof of the existence of multiple limit cycles giving rise from Hopf bifurcation, which further induces bistable or tristable states because of the coexistence of stable equilibria and periodic motion. Next, we propose that the existence of Bogdanov–Takens (BT) bifurcation yields the bifurcation of homoclinic loops, which provides a new mechanism for generating disease recurrence, for example, the relapse–remission, viral blip cycles in HIV infection. Last, we present a novel method for the derivation of the normal forms of codimension two and three BT bifurcations. The method is based on the simplest normal form theory from Yu’s previous works.

Stage-structured predator–prey models exhibit rich and interesting dynamics compared to homogeneous population models. The objective of this paper is to study the bifurcation behavior of stage-structured prey–predator models that admit stage-restricted predation. It is shown that the model with juvenile-only predation exhibits Hopf bifurcation with the growth rate of the adult prey as the bifurcation parameter; also, depending on parameter values, a stable limit cycle will emerge, that is, the bifurcation will be of supercritical nature. On the other hand, the analysis of the model with adult-stage predation shows that the system admits a fold-Hopf bifurcation with the adult growth rate and the predator mortality rate as the two bifurcation parameters. We also demonstrate the existence of a unique limit cycle arising from this codimension-2 bifurcation. These results reveal far richer dynamics compared to models without stage-structure. Numerical simulations are done to support analytical results.  相似文献

This paper reports the nonlinear dynamics of a novel three-scroll chaotic system. The local stability of hyperbolic equilibrium and non-hyperbolic equilibrium are investigated by using center manifold theorem. Pitchfork bifurcation, degenerate pitchfork bifurcation and Hopf bifurcation are analyzed when the parameters are varied in the space of parameter. For a suitable choice of the parameters, the existence of singularly degenerate heteroclinic cycles and Hopf bifurcation without parameters are also investigated. Some numerical simulations are given to support the analytic results.  相似文献

In this paper, complete analysis is presented to study codimension-2 bifurcations for the nonlinear Kaldor model of business cycle. Sufficient conditions are given for the model to demonstrate Bautin and Bogdanov–Takens (BT) bifurcations. By computing the first and second Lyapunov coefficients and performing nonlinear transformation, the normal forms are derived to obtain the bifurcation diagrams such as Hopf, homoclinic and double limit cycle bifurcations. Some examples are given to confirm the theoretical results.  相似文献

A general formula for the computation of the first Liapunov coefficient corresponding to the Hopf bifurcation in a four‐dimensional system of two coupled identical oscillators is performed for two cases. Only bi‐dimensional vectors are involved. Then a model of two coupled demand–supply systems, depending on four parameters is considered. A study of the Hopf bifurcation is done around one of the symmetrical equilibrium, as the parameters vary. The loci in the parameter space of the parameters values corresponding to subcritical, supercritical or degenerated Hopf bifurcation are found. The computation of the Liapunov coefficients is done using the derived formula. Numerical plots emphasizing the existence of different types of limit cycles are developed. One of the general SIRS disease transmission model is considered under the assumptions that the size of the population varies, the incidence rate is nonlinear, and the recovered (removed) class may also be directly reinfected. A combination of analytical and numerical techniques is used to show that (for some parameters) the bifurcations of equilibria can occur and also asymptotically orbitally stable periodic solutions with asymptotic phase can arise through Hopf bifurcations. The investigation is based on computer simulation of bifurcation manifolds in the parameter space. Hopf bifurcations are investigated on the base of center manifold theory by the computation of bifurcation parameters and the approximation of Hopf-bifurcating cycles by bifurcation formulas. This method finds the limit cycle to a good approximation and also its stability. For computer simulations the necessary computer oriented algorithms were developed and encoded by C++. Some results of computer simulations are presented and numerical evidence of existence of bifurcations of equilibria and Hopf bifurcations for the considered model is provided.  相似文献

Recently, Venturino and Petrovskii proposed a general predator–prey model with group defense for prey species (Venturino and Petrovskii, 2013). The local dynamics had been studied and showed that the model might undergo Hopf bifurcation, and have an extinction domain. In this paper, we dedicate ourselves to the investigation of the global dynamics of the model by establishing the conditions of the nonexistence of periodic orbits, and the existence and uniqueness of limit cycles.  相似文献

Neimark–Sacker bifurcation for the discrete-delay Kaldor model   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
We consider a discrete-delay time, Kaldor nonlinear business cycle model in income and capital. Given an investment function, resembling the one discussed by Rodano, we use the linear approximation analysis to state the local stability property and local bifurcations, in the parameter space. Finally, we will give some numerical examples to justify the theoretical results.  相似文献

A three dimensional ecoepidemiological model consisting of susceptible prey, infected prey and predator is proposed and analysed in the present work. The parameter delay is introduced in the model system for considering the time taken by a susceptible prey to become infected. Mathematically we analyze the dynamics of the system such as, boundedness of the solutions, existence of non-negative equilibria, local and global stability of interior equilibrium point. Next we choose delay as a bifurcation parameter to examine the existence of the Hopf bifurcation of the system around its interior equilibrium. Moreover we use the normal form method and center manifold theorem to investigate the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and stability of the bifurcating limit cycle. Some numerical simulations are carried out to support the analytical results.  相似文献

In this work, a bidimensional continuous-time differential equations system is analyzed which is derived from Leslie type predator–prey schemes by considering a nonmonotonic functional response and Allee effect on population prey. For ecological reason, we describe the bifurcation diagram of limit cycles that appear only at the first quadrant in the system obtained. We also show that under certain conditions over the parameters, the system allows the existence of a stable limit cycle surrounding an unstable limit cycle generated by Hopf bifurcation. Furthermore, we give conditions over the parameters such that the model allows long-term extinction or survival of both populations.  相似文献

This paper discuss the cusp bifurcation of codimension 2 (i.e. Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation) in a Leslie~Gower predator-prey model with prey harvesting, which was not revealed by Zhu and Lan [Phase portraits, Hopf bifurcation and limit cycles of Leslie-Gower predator-prey systems with harvesting rates, Discrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems Series B. 14(1) (2010), 289-306]. It is shown that there are different parameter values for which the model has a limit cycle or a homoclinic loop.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze a augmented IS-LM business cycle model with the capital accumulation equation that two time delays are considered in investment processes according to Kalecki’s idea. Applying stability switch criteria and Hopf bifurcation theory, we prove that time delays cause the equilibrium to lose or gain stability and Hopf bifurcation occurs.  相似文献

We extend a previous Gause-type predator–prey model to include a general monotonic and bounded seasonally varying functional response. The model exhibits rich dynamical behaviour not encountered when the functional response is not seasonally forced. A theoretical analysis is performed on the model to investigate the global stability of the boundary equilibria and the existence of periodic solutions. It is shown that, under certain well-defined conditions, the Poincaré map of the model undergoes a Hopf bifurcation leading to the appearance of a quasi-periodic solution. Numerical results are given for the Poincaré sections and bifurcation diagrams for Holling-types II and III functional responses, using the amplitude of seasonal variation as bifurcation parameter. The model shows a rich variety of behaviour, including period doubling, quasi-periodicity, chaos, transient chaos, and windows of periodicity.  相似文献
