A series of well‐defined poly[methyl(3,3,3‐trifluoropropyl)siloxane]‐b‐polystyrene‐b‐poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) (PMTFPS‐b‐PS‐b‐PtBA) triblock copolymers were prepared by a combination of anionic ring‐opening polymerization of 1,3,5‐trimethyl‐1,3,5‐tris(3′,3′,3′‐trifluoropropyl)cyclotrisiloxane (F3), and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of styrene (St) and tert‐butyl acrylate (tBA), using the obtained α‐bromoisobutyryl‐terminal PMTFPS (PMTFPS‐Br) as the macroinitiators. The ATRP of St from PMTFPS‐Br, as well as the ATRP of tBA from the obtained PMTFPS‐b‐PS‐Br macroinitiators, has typical characteristic of controlled/living polymerization. The results of contact angle measurements for the films of PMTFPS‐b‐PS‐b‐PtBA triblock copolymers demonstrate that the compositions have an effect on the wetting behavior of the copolymer films. For the copolymer films with different compositions, there may be different macroscale or nanoscale structures on the outmost layer of the copolymer surfaces. The films with high content of PtBA blocks exhibit almost no ordered microstructures on the outmost layer of the copolymer surfaces, even though they have microphase‐separated structures in bulk. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of well‐defined ABC 3‐Miktoarm star‐shaped terpolymers [Poly(styrene)‐Poly(ethylene oxide)‐Poly(ε‐caprolactone)](PS‐PEO‐PCL) with different molecular weight was synthesized by combination of the “living” anionic polymerization with the ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) using macro‐initiator strategy. Firstly, the “living” poly(styryl)lithium (PS?Li+) species were capped by 1‐ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether(EEGE) quantitatively and the PS‐EEGE with an active and an ethoxyethyl‐protected hydroxyl group at the same end was obtained. Then, using PS‐EEGE and diphenylmethylpotassium (DPMK) as coinitiator, the diblock copolymers of (PS‐b‐PEO)p with the ethoxyethyl‐protected hydroxyl group at the junction point were achieved by the ROP of EO and the subsequent termination with bromoethane. The diblock copolymers of (PS‐b‐PEO)d with the active hydroxyl group at the junction point were recovered via the cleavage of ethoxyethyl group on (PS‐b‐PEO)p by acidolysis and saponification successively. Finally, the copolymers (PS‐b‐PEO)d served as the macro‐initiator for ROP of ε‐CL in the presence of tin(II)‐bis(2‐ethylhexanoate)(Sn(Oct)2) and the star(PS‐PEO‐PCL) terpolymers were obtained. The target terpolymers and the intermediates were well characterized by 1H‐NMR, MALDI‐TOF MS, FTIR, and SEC. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 4μ‐A2B2 star‐shaped copolymers contained polystyrene (PS), poly(isoprene) (PI), poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) or poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) arms were synthesized by a combination of Glaser coupling with living anionic polymerization (LAP) and ring‐opening polymerization (ROP). Firstly, the functionalized PS or PI with an alkyne group and a protected hydroxyl group at the same end were synthesized by LAP and then modified by propargyl bromide. Subsequently, the macro‐initiator PS or PI with two active hydroxyl groups at the junction point were synthesized by Glaser coupling in the presence of pyridine/CuBr/N,N,N ′,N ″,N ″‐penta‐methyl diethylenetri‐amine (PMDETA) system and followed by hydrolysis of protected hydroxyl groups. Finally, the ROP of EO and ε‐CL monomers was carried out using diphenylmethyl potassium (DPMK) and tin(II)‐bis(2‐ethylhexanoate) (Sn(Oct)2) as catalyst for target star‐shaped copolymers, respectively. These copolymers and their intermediates were well characterized by SEC, 1H NMR, MALDI‐TOF mass spectra and FT‐IR in details. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new synthetic strategy, the combination of living polymerization of ylides and ring‐opening polymerization (ROP), was successfully used to obtain well‐defined polymethylene‐b‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PM‐b‐PCL) diblock copolymers. Two hydroxyl‐terminated polymethylenes (PM‐OH, Mn= 1800 g mol?1 (PDI = 1.18) and Mn = 6400 g mol?1 (PDI = 1.14)) were prepared using living polymerization of dimethylsulfoxonium methylides. Then, such polymers were successfully transformed to PM‐b‐PCL diblock copolymers by using stannous octoate as a catalyst for ROP of ε‐caprolactone. The GPC traces and 1H NMR of PM‐b‐PCL diblock copolymers indicated the successful extension of PCL segment (Mn of PM‐b‐PCL = 5200–10,300 g mol?1; PDI = 1.06–1.13). The thermal properties of the double crystalline diblock copolymers were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results indicated that the incorporation of crystalline segments of PCL chain effectively influence the crystalline process of PM segments. The low‐density polyethylene (LDPE)/PCL and LDPE/polycarbonate (PC) blends were prepared using PM‐b‐PCL as compatibilizer, respectively. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observation on the cryofractured surface of such blend polymers indicates that the PM‐b‐PCL diblock copolymers are effective compatibilizers for LDPE/PCL and LDPE/PC blends. Porous films were fabricated via the breath‐figure method using different concentration of PM‐b‐PCL diblock copolymers in CH2Cl2 under a static humid condition. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Poly(dimethylsiloxane)‐containing diblock and triblock copolymers were prepared by the combination of anionic ring‐opening polymerization (AROP) of hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane (D3) and nitroxide‐mediated radical polymerization (NMRP) of methyl acrylate (MA), isoprene (IP), and styrene (St). The first step was the preparation of a TIPNO‐based alkoxyamine carrying a 4‐bromophenyl group. The alkoxyamine was then treated with Li powder in ether, and AROP of D3 was carried out using the resulting lithiophenyl alkoxyamine at room temperature, giving functional poly(D3) with Mw/Mn of 1.09–1.16. NMRPs of MA, St, and IP from the poly(D3) at 120 °C gave poly(D3b‐MA), poly(D3b‐St), and poly(D3b‐IP) diblock copolymers, and subsequent NMRPs of St from poly(D3b‐MA) and poly(D3b‐IP) at 120 °C gave poly(D3b‐MA‐b‐St) and poly(D3b‐IP‐b‐St) triblock copolymers. The poly(dimethylsiloxane)‐containing diblock and triblock copolymers were analyzed by 1H NMR and size exclusion chromatography. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Phosphorus‐bridged strained [1]ferrocenophanes [Fe{(η‐C5H4)2P(CH2CMe3)}] ( 2 ) and [Fe{(η‐C5H4)2P(CH2SiMe3)}] ( 3 ) with neopentyl and (trimethylsilyl)methyl substituents on phosphorus, respectively, have been synthesized and characterized. Photocontrolled living anionic ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of the known phosphorus‐bridged [1]ferrocenophane [Fe{(η‐C5H4)2P(CMe3)}] ( 1 ) and the new monomers 2 and 3 , initiated by Na[C5H5] in THF at 5 °C, yielded well‐defined polyferrocenylphosphines (PFPs), [Fe{(η‐C5H4)2PR}]n (R=CMe3 ( 4 ), CH2CMe3 ( 5 ), and CH2SiMe3 ( 6 )), with controlled molecular weights (up to ca. 60×103 Da) and narrow molecular weight distributions. The PFPs 4 – 6 were characterized by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, DSC, and by GPC analysis of the corresponding poly(ferrocenylphosphine sulfides) obtained by sulfurization of the phosphorus(III) centers. The living nature of the photocontrolled anionic ROP allowed the synthesis of well‐defined all‐organometallic PFP‐b‐PFSF ( 7 a and 7 b ) (PFSF=polyferrocenylmethyl(3,3,3,‐trifluoropropyl)silane) diblock copolymers through sequential monomer addition. TEM studies of the thin films of the diblock copolymer 7 b showed microphase separation to form cylindrical PFSF domains in a PFP matrix.  相似文献

The synthesis and molecular characterization of a series of conformationally asymmetric polystyrene‐block‐poly(1,3‐cyclohexadiene) (PS‐b‐PCHD) diblock copolymers (PCHD: ~90% 1,4 and ~10% 1,2), by sequential anionic copolymerization high vacuum techniques, is reported. A wide range of volume fractions (0.27 ≤ ?PS ≤ 0.91) was studied by transmission electron microscopy and small‐angle X‐ray scattering in order to explore in detail the microphase separation behavior of these flexible/semiflexible diblock copolymers. Unusual morphologies, consisting of PCHD core(PCHD‐1,4)–shell(PCHD‐1,2) cylinders in PS matrix and three‐phase (PS, PCHD‐1,4, PCHD‐1,2) four‐layer lamellae, were observed suggesting that the chain stiffness of the PCHD block and the strong dependence of the interaction parameter χ on the PCHD microstructures are important factors for the formation of this unusual microphase separation behavior in PS‐b‐PCHD diblock copolymers. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The tadpole‐shaped copolymers polystyrene (PS)‐b‐[cyclic poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)] [PS‐b‐(c‐PEO)] contained linear tail chains of PS and cyclic head chains of PEO were synthesized by combination of Glaser coupling with living anionic polymerization (LAP) and ring‐opening polymerization (ROP). First, the functionalized polystyrene‐glycerol (PS‐Gly) with two active hydroxyl groups at ω end was synthesized by LAP of St and the subsequent capping with 1‐ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether and then deprotection of protected hydroxyl group in acid condition. Then, using PS‐Gly as macroinitiator, the ROP of EO was performed using diphenylmethylpotassium as cocatalyst for AB2 star‐shaped copolymers PS‐b‐(PEO‐OH)2, and the alkyne group was introduced onto PEO arm end for PS‐b‐(PEO‐Alkyne)2. Finally, the intramolecular cyclization was performed by Glaser coupling reaction in pyridine/Cu(I)Br/N,N,N′,N″,N″‐pentamethyldiethylenetriamine system under room temperature, and tadpole‐shaped PS‐b‐(c‐PEO) was formed. The target copolymers and their intermediates were well characterized by size‐exclusion chromatography, proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy in details. The thermal properties was also determined and compared to investigate the influence of architecture on properties. The results showed that tadpole‐shaped copolymers had lower Tm, Tc, and Xc than that of their precursors of AB2 star‐shaped copolymers. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Well‐defined amphiphilic polymethylene‐b‐poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐b‐poly(acrylic acid) (PM‐b‐PCL‐b‐PAA) triblock copolymers were synthesized via a combination of polyhomologation, ring‐opening polymerization (ROP), and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). First, hydroxyl‐terminated polymethylenes (PM‐OH; Mn = 1100 g mol?1; Mw/Mn = 1.09) were produced by polyhomologation followed by oxidation. Then, the PM‐b‐PCL (Mn = 10,000 g mol?1; Mw/Mn = 1.27) diblock copolymers were synthesized via ROP of ε‐caprolactone using PM‐OH as macroinitiator and stannous octanoate (Sn(Oct)2) as a catalyst. Subsequently, the macroinitiator transformed from PM‐b‐PCL in high conversion initiated ATRPs of tert‐butyl acrylate (tBA) to construct PM‐b‐PCL‐b‐PtBA triblock copolymers (Mn = 11,000–14,000 g mol?1; Mw/Mn = 1.24–1.26). Finally, the PM‐b‐PCL‐b‐PAA triblock copolymers were obtained via the hydrolysis of the PtBA segment in PM‐b‐PCL‐b‐PtBA triblock copolymers. The chain structures of all the polymers were characterized by gel permeation chromatography, proton nuclear magnetic resonance, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Porous films of such triblock copolymers were fabricated by static breath‐figure method and observed by scanning electron microscope. The aggregates of PM‐b‐PCL‐b‐PAA triblock copolymer were studied by transmission electron microscope. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2012  相似文献

The synthesis of well‐defined poly(methyl methacrylate)‐block‐poly(ethylene oxide) (PMMA‐b‐PEO) dibock copolymer through anionic polymerization using monohydroxy telechelic PMMA as macroinitiator is described. Living anionic polymerization of methyl methacrylate was performed using initiators derived from the adduct of diphenylethylene and a suitable alkyllithium, either of which contains a hydroxyl group protected with tert‐butyldimethylsilyl moiety in tetrahydrofuran (THF) at ?78 °C in the presence of LiClO4. The synthesized telechelic PMMAs had good control of molecular weight with narrow molecular weight distribution (MWD). The 1H NMR and MALDI‐TOF MS analysis confirmed quantitative functionalization of chain‐ends. Block copolymerization of ethylene oxide was carried out using the terminal hydroxyl group of PMMA as initiator in the presence of potassium counter ion in THF at 35 °C. The PMMA‐b‐PEO diblock copolymers had moderate control of molecular weight with narrow MWD. The 1H NMR results confirm the absence of trans‐esterification reaction of propagating PEO anions onto the ester pendants of PMMA. The micellation behavior of PMMA‐b‐PEO diblock copolymer was examined in water using 1H NMR and dynamic light scattering. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Among three cyclopentadienyl titanium complexes studied, CpTiCl2(OEt), containing a 5% excess CpTiCl3, has proven to be a very efficient catalyst for the ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of L ‐lactide (LLA) in toluene at 130 °C. Kinetic studies revealed that the polymerization yield (up to 100%) and the molecular weight increase linearly with time, leading to well‐defined PLLA with narrow molecular weight distributions (Mw/Mn ≤ 1.1). Based on the above results, PS‐b‐PLLA, PI‐b‐PLLA, PEO‐b‐PLLA block copolymers, and a PS‐b‐PI‐b‐PLLA triblock terpolymer were synthesized. The synthetic strategy involved: (a) the preparation of OH‐end‐functionalized homopolymers or diblock copolymers by anionic polymerization, (b) the reaction of the OH‐functionalized polymers with CpTiCl3 to give the corresponding Ti‐macrocatalyst, and (c) the ROP of LLA to afford the final block copolymers. PMMA‐g‐PLLA [PMMA: poly(methyl methacrylate)] was also synthesized by: (a) the reaction of CpTiCl3 with 2‐hydroxy ethyl methacrylate, HEMA, to give the Ti‐HEMA‐catalyst, (b) the ROP of LLA to afford a PLLA methacrylic‐macromonomer, and (c) the copolymerization (conventional and ATRP) of the macromonomer with MMA to afford the final graft copolymer. Intermediate and final products were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and size exclusion chromatography, equipped with refractive index and two‐angle laser light scattering detectors. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave (MW)‐assisted ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) provides a rapid and straightforward method for engineering a wide array of well‐defined poly(3‐hydroxyalkanoate)‐b‐poly(D,L ‐lactide) (PHA‐b‐PLA) diblock copolymers. On MW irradiation, the bulk ROP of D,L ‐lactide (LA) could be efficiently triggered by a series of monohydroxylated PHA‐based macroinitiators previously produced via acid‐catalyzed methanolysis of corresponding native PHAs, thus affording diblock copolyesters with tunable compositions. The dependence of LA polymerization on temperature, macroinitiator structure, irradiation time, and [LA]0/[PHA]0 molar ratio was carefully investigated. It turned out that initiator efficiency values close to 1 associated with conversions ranging from 50 to 85% were obtained only after 5 min at 115 °C. A kinetic investigation of the MW‐assisted ROP of LA gave evidence of its “living”/controlled character under the experimental conditions selected. Structural analyses and thermal properties of biodegradable diblock copolyesters were also performed. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2012  相似文献

Fluorosilicone elastomer based on the poly[(3,3,3‐trifluoropropyl)methylsiloxane‐co‐(3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,6‐nonafluorohexyl)methylsiloxane] was studied. First, the synthesis of fluorosilicone polymer based on the poly[(3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,6‐nonafluorohexyl)methylsiloxane] (PNFHMS) was examined by the polymerization of 1,3,5‐tris(3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,6‐nonafluorohexyl)‐1,3,5‐trimethylcyclotrisiloxane (C4F9D3) by sodium hydroxide. On the contrast of the polymerization of the commercially available 1,3,5‐tris(3,3,3‐trifluoropropyl)‐1,3,5‐trimethylcyclotrisiloxane (CF3D3), the polymerization of C4F9D3 with sodium hydroxide resulted in the formation of 1,3,5,7‐tetrakis(3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,6‐nonafluorohexyl)‐1,3,5,7‐tetramethylcyclotetrasiloxane : [C4F9CH2CH2(CH3)SiO]4 (C4F9D4) as the major product. It was due to the easy occurrence of the depolymerization by the back‐biting mechanism, because C4F9D4 is more stable than 1,3,5,7‐tetrakis(3,3,3‐trifluoropropyl)‐1,3,5,7‐tetramethylcyclotetrasiloxane : [CF3CH2CH2(CH3)SiO]4 (CF3D4). The above result made us to conclude that it was difficult to apply the polymer based on PNFHMS to heat vulcanizable elastomers and to investigate the elastomer based on the poly[(3,3,3‐trifluoropropyl)methylsiloxane‐co‐(3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,6‐nonafluorohexyl)methylsiloxane]. C4F9D3 and CF3D3 were co‐polymerized successfully by sodium hydroxide and formulated with the silica treated by CF3D3. The use of silica treated with methylsilyl unit failed, because creep‐hardening phenomenon occurred. This elastomer was evaluated about some mechanical properties, and the resistance to organic solvents, and a fuel. The advantage that can be detected from the introduction of [C4F9C2H4‐(CH3)SiO] unit was that the resistance to the polar solvents such as acetone and dimethylformamide was improved. The synthesis of diblock as well as gradient copolymers of N,N‐diethyl glycidyl amine (DEGA) with ethylene oxide (EO) via anionic ring‐opening polymerization is presented. The polymers exhibit low polydispersities (≤1.13) and molecular weights in the range of 3300–10 200 g mol−1. In PEG‐co‐PDEGA copolymers, incorporation of 4%–29% DEGA results in tailorable cloud point temperatures in aqueous solution and melting points depending on DEGA content. mPEG‐b‐PDEGA block copolymers can be quaternized to generate cationic double‐hydrophilic polyelectrolyte copolymers with polyether backbone. Furthermore, mPEG‐b‐PDEGA has been used as dual reducing and capping agent for gold nanoparticle synthesis.  相似文献

Model copolymers of poly(butadiene) (PB) and poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS), PB‐b‐PDMS‐b‐PB, were synthesized by sequential anionic polymerization (high vacuum techniques) of 1,3‐butadiene and hexamethylciclotrisiloxane (D3) on sec‐BuLi followed by chlorosilane‐coupling chemistry. The synthesized copolymers were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), size‐exclusion chromatography (SEC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). SEC and 1H NMR results showed low polydispersity indexes (Mw/Mn) and variable siloxane compositions, whereas DSC and TGA experiments indicated that the thermal stability of the triblock copolymers depends on the PDMS composition. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article describes the synthesis and characterization of [polystyrene‐b‐poly(2‐vinylpyridine)]n star‐block copolymers with the poly(2‐vinylpyridine) blocks at the periphery. A two‐step living anionic polymerization method was used. Firstly, oligo(styryl)lithium grafted poly(divinylbenzene) cores were used as multifunctional initiators to initiate living anionic polymerization of styrene in benzene at room temperature. Secondly, vinylpyridine was polymerized at the periphery of these living (polystyrene)n stars in tetrahydrofuran at ?78 °C. The resulting copolymers were characterized using size exclusion chromatography, multiangle laser light scattering, 1H NMR, elemental analysis, and intrinsic viscosity measurements. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Kinetics of the anionic ring opening copolymerization of 2,4,6‐tris(3,3,3‐trifluoropropyl)‐2,4,6‐trimethylcyclotrisiloxane (F3) with hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane (D3) was studied in THF using BuLi as the initiator. The apparent reactivity ratios were estimated by computer simulation to r = 0.10 ± 0.02, r = 51.8 ± 5.5, which were used to predict the copolymer composition. As a result of so much different reactivities, simultaneous copolymerization leads to copolymers of blocky structure containing a narrow intermediate fragment with gradient distribution of siloxane units. Polymers having more uniform distribution of the trifluoropropyl groups along the chain were obtained by the semibatch process, adding F3 to the polymerization of less reactive D3. The resulted copolymers were characterized by SEC chromatography, 29Si NMR, DSC, DMA, and SAXS. Thermal and mechanical properties of the copolymers obtained by simultaneous copolymerization were similar to those of block copolymers. Only the copolymers obtained by semibatch method showed properties typical for gradient copolymers. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 47: 1204–1216, 2009  相似文献

Model diblock copolymers of poly(1,4‐butadiene) (PB) and poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS), PB‐b‐PDMS, were synthesized by the sequential anionic polymerization (high vacuum techniques) of butadiene and hexamethylciclotrisiloxane (D3) in the presence of sec‐BuLi. By homogeneous hydrogenation of PB‐b‐PDMS, the corresponding poly(ethylene) and poly(dimethylsiloxane) block copolymers, PE‐b‐PDMS, were obtained. The synthesized block copolymers were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (1H and 13C NMR), size‐exclusion chromatography (SEC), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and rheology. SEC combined with 1H NMR analysis indicates that the polydispersity index of the samples (Mw/Mn) is low, and that the chemical composition of the copolymers varies from low to medium PDMS content. According to DSC and TGA experiments, the thermal stability of these block copolymers depends on the PDMS content, whereas TEM analysis reveals ordered arrangements of the microphases. The morphologies observed vary from spherical and cylindrical to lamellar domains. This ordered state (even at high temperatures) was further confirmed by small‐amplitude oscillatory shear flow tests. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel amphiphilic polypeptoid‐polyester diblock copolymers based on poly(sarcosine) (PSar) and poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) are synthesized by a one‐pot glovebox‐free approach. In this method, sarcosine N‐carboxy anhydride (Sar‐NCA) is firstly polymerized in the presence of benzylamine under N2 flow, then the resulting poly(sarcosine) is used in situ as the macroinitiator for the ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of ε‐caprolactone using tin(II) octanoate as a catalyst. The degree of polymerization of each block is controlled by various feed ratios of monomer/initiator. The diblock copolymers with controlled molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distributions (ĐM < 1.2) are characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and size‐exclusion chromatography. The self‐assembly behavior of PSar‐b‐PCL in water is investigated by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy. DLS results reveal that the diblock copolymers associate into nanoparticles with average hydrodynamic diameters (DH) around 100 nm in water, which may be used as drug delivery carriers.
