We describe the essential spectrum and prove the Mourre estimate for quantum particle systems interacting through k-body forces and creation-annihilation processes which do not preserve the number of particles. For this we compute the “Hamiltonian algebra” of the system, i.e. the C-algebra C generated by the Hamiltonians we want to study, and show that, as in the N-body case, it is graded by a semilattice. Hilbert C-modules graded by semilattices are involved in the construction of C. For example, if we start with an N-body system whose Hamiltonian algebra is CN and then we add field type couplings between subsystems, then the many-body Hamiltonian algebra C is the imprimitivity algebra of a graded Hilbert CN-module.  相似文献

We provide a class of examples of compact quantum groups and unitary 2-cocycles on them, such that the twisted quantum groups are non-compact, but still locally compact quantum groups (in the sense of Kustermans and Vaes). The notion of simple compact quantum group is introduced. As non-trivial (noncommutative and noncocommutative) examples, the following families of compact quantum groups are shown to be simple: (a) The universal quantum groups Bu(Q) for QGL(n,C) satisfying , n?2; (b) The quantum automorphism groups Aaut(B,τ) of finite-dimensional C-algebras B endowed with the canonical trace τ when dim(B)?4, including the quantum permutation groups Aaut(Xn) on n points (n?4); (c) The standard deformations Kq of simple compact Lie groups K and their twists , as well as Rieffel's deformation KJ.  相似文献

We prove a Delorme-Guichardet type theorem for discrete quantum groups expressing property (T) of the quantum group in question in terms of its first cohomology groups. As an application, we show that the first L2-Betti number of a discrete property (T) quantum group vanishes.  相似文献

In this paper we establish a direct connection between stable approximate unitary equivalence for *-homomorphisms and the topology of the KK-groups which avoids entirely C*-algebra extension theory and does not require nuclearity assumptions. To this purpose we show that a topology on the Kasparov groups can be defined in terms of approximate unitary equivalence for Cuntz pairs and that this topology coincides with both Pimsner's topology and the Brown-Salinas topology. We study the generalized Rørdam group , and prove that if a separable exact residually finite dimensional C*-algebra satisfies the universal coefficient theorem in KK-theory, then it embeds in the UHF algebra of type 2. In particular such an embedding exists for the C*-algebra of a second countable amenable locally compact maximally almost periodic group.  相似文献

We present several new techniques for approximating spectra of linear operators (not necessarily bounded) on an infinite-dimensional, separable Hilbert space. Our approach is to take well-known techniques from finite-dimensional matrix analysis and show how they can be generalized to an infinite-dimensional setting to provide approximations of spectra of elements in a large class of operators. We conclude by proposing a solution to the general problem of approximating the spectrum of an arbitrary bounded operator by introducing the n-pseudospectrum and argue how that can be used as an approximation to the spectrum.  相似文献

The paper encompasses a complete study of the weak-star extensibility of subspaces of Banach spaces introduced by B.S. Mordukhovich and B. Wang when studying the restrictive metric regularity in variational analysis. Many useful properties are presented; in particular, a new point of view and formulation of the property in the framework of Banach space theory is established. We also propose the concept of weak-star extensible Banach spaces that has interesting applications, and is fairly broad in that it contains many important classes of Banach spaces. Some further applications of this extensibility to the theory of linear operators between Banach spaces are also explored.  相似文献

A quantum system S interacts in a successive way with elements E of a chain of identical independent quantum subsystems. Each interaction lasts for a duration τ and is governed by a fixed coupling between S and E. We show that the system, initially in any state close to a reference state, approaches a repeated interaction asymptotic state in the limit of large times. This state is τ-periodic in time and does not depend on the initial state. If the reference state is chosen so that S and E are individually in equilibrium at positive temperatures, then the repeated interaction asymptotic state satisfies an average second law of thermodynamics.  相似文献

Based on the Hilbert C?-module structure we study non-stationary monotone quantum stochastic processes and general Markov processes constructed from quantum dynamical hemigroups indexed by a totally ordered set. We prove that the quantum stochastic monotone process implementing the weakly covariant process described by a covariant quantum dynamical hemigroup with respect to a symmetry semigroup is again covariant in the strong sense.  相似文献

Given an edge- or vertex-weighted graph or digraph and a list of source-sink pairs, the minimum multicut problem consists in selecting a minimum weight set of edges or vertices whose removal leaves no path from each source to the corresponding sink. This is a classical NP-hard problem, and we show that the edge version becomes tractable in bounded tree-width graphs if the number of source-sink pairs is fixed, but remains NP-hard in directed acyclic graphs and APX-hard in bounded tree-width and bounded degree unweighted digraphs. The vertex version, although tractable in trees, is proved to be NP-hard in unweighted cacti of bounded degree and bounded path-width.  相似文献

In this paper, the geometric meaning of (α,β)-norms is made clear. On this basis, a new class of Finsler metrics called general (α,β)-metrics are introduced, which are defined by a Riemannian metric and a 1-form. These metrics not only generalize (α,β)-metrics naturally, but also include some metrics structured by R. Bryant. The spray coefficients formula of some kinds of general (α,β)-metrics is given and the projective flatness is also discussed.  相似文献

We present a systematic characterization of the domain of a generator of a one parameter group on certain C∗-subalgebras of via finite-dimensional estimates. Our approach yields an example of a densely defined closed symmetric derivation on a C∗-subalgebras of whose domain is not closed with respect to the C1-functional calculus. This completes and complements the earlier example of McIntosh (J. Funct. Anal. 30 (1977) 264). Our methods are partly based on the theory of adjoint C0-semigroups.  相似文献

The standard C-algebraic version of the algebra of canonical commutation relations, the Weyl algebra, frequently causes difficulties in applications since it neither admits the formulation of physically interesting dynamical laws nor does it incorporate pertinent physical observables such as (bounded functions of) the Hamiltonian. Here a novel C-algebra of the canonical commutation relations is presented which does not suffer from such problems. It is based on the resolvents of the canonical operators and their algebraic relations. The resulting C-algebra, the resolvent algebra, is shown to have many desirable analytic properties and the regularity structure of its representations is surprisingly simple. Moreover, the resolvent algebra is a convenient framework for applications to interacting and to constrained quantum systems, as we demonstrate by several examples.  相似文献

Spectrum and analytical indices of the C-algebra of Wiener-Hopf operators   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We study multivariate generalisations of the classical Wiener-Hopf algebra, which is the C-algebra generated by the Wiener-Hopf operators, given by convolutions restricted to convex cones. By the work of Muhly and Renault, this C-algebra is known to be isomorphic to the reduced C-algebra of a certain restricted action groupoid, given by the action of Euclidean space on a certain compactification. Using groupoid methods, we construct composition series for the Wiener-Hopf C-algebra by a detailed study of this compactification. We compute the spectrum, and express homomorphisms in K-theory induced by the symbol maps which arise by the subquotients of the composition series in analytical terms. Namely, these symbols maps turn out to be given by an analytical family index of a continuous family of Fredholm operators. In a subsequent paper, we also obtain a topological expression of these indices.  相似文献

This paper analyzes the F-policy M/M/1/K queueing system with working vacation and an exponential startup time. The F-policy deals with the issue of controlling arrivals to a queueing system, and the server requires a startup time before allowing customers to enter the system. For the queueing systems with working vacation, the server can still provide service to customers rather than completely stop the service during a vacation period. The matrix-analytic method is applied to develop the steady-state probabilities, and then obtain several system characteristics. We construct the expected cost function and formulate an optimization problem to find the minimum cost. The direct search method and Quasi-Newton method are implemented to determine the optimal system capacity K, the optimal threshold F and the optimal service rates (μB,μV) at the minimum cost. A sensitivity analysis is conducted to investigate the effect of changes in the system parameters on the expected cost function. Finally, numerical examples are provided for illustration purpose.  相似文献

Let H(n;q,n1,n2) be a graph with n vertices containing a cycle Cq and two hanging paths Pn1 and Pn2 attached at the same vertex of the cycle. In this paper, we prove that except for the A-cospectral graphs H(12;6,1,5) and H(12;8,2,2), no two non-isomorphic graphs of the form H(n;q,n1,n2) are A-cospectral. It is proved that all graphs H(n;q,n1,n2) are determined by their L-spectra. And all graphs H(n;q,n1,n2) are proved to be determined by their Q-spectra, except for graphs with a being a positive even number and with b≥4 being an even number. Moreover, the Q-cospectral graphs with these two exceptions are given.  相似文献
