The fruit oils of Athamanta turbith ssp. hungarica and Athamanta turbith ssp. haynaldii were obtained by Soxhlet extraction using petroleum ether. The fatty acid composition of oils was determined by GC in the methyl ester form. Considering the composition and content of fatty acids, the examined oils were very similar. Petroselinic acid was the principal one (45.6 and 46.2%, respectively), followed by a significant amount of linoleic acid (26.9 and 29.1%, respectively). In both oils, myristic, pentadecanoic, palmitic, palmitoleic, stearic, petroselinic, oleic, linoleic, α-linolenic, arachidic, and behenic acid were identified. Dried seeds of four varieties of Phaseolus vulgaris, three of Vigna unguiculata ssp. unguiculata and two of Vigna angularis grown and marketed in Italy, Mexico, India, Japan, Ghana and Ivory Coast were analysed for fatty acids content. In oils from seeds of P. vulgaris, the main fatty acids were linolenic (34.7–41.5%) and linoleic (30.7–40.3%), followed by palmitic (10.7–16.8%). The first three aforementioned fatty acids in the lipid fraction of V. unguiculata varieties were 28.4, 28.7 and 26.2%, respectively; while in V. angularis varieties, main fatty acids were linoleic (36.4–39.1%) and palmitic (26.9–33.3%), followed by linolenic (17.9–22.2%). Statistical analyses indicate that botanical species play a rule in bean fatty acids distribution, while the same was not verified for geographical origin. Furthermore, the atherogenic index (AI) and the thrombogenic index (TI) were investigated for health and nutritional information. The results showed that these wide spread legumes have functional features to human health.  相似文献

The lipophylic extracts of three Viscum album subspecies growing on different host plants in Turkey were comparatively analyzed for derived methyl esters of their fatty acids by capillary gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The sample of V. album ssp. album growing on apricot trees was remarkably rich in palmitic acid (11.47%). Arachidic acid was found in only ssp. austriacum and ssp. abietis samples. The unsaturated fatty acids, mainly oleic and linoleic acids, were identified in nine lipophylic extracts obtained from V. album samples belonging to ssp. album. The amounts of linoleic and oleic acid were the highest in the sample of ssp. album growing on apricot trees (12.18 and 9.19%, respectively). Summary The essential oils ofOriganum vulgare L. ssp.hirtum (Link) letswaart andOriganum vulgare L ssp.vulgare (Fam. Lamiaceae), cultivated in Hungary, have been studied by GC and GC-MS and the qualitative and quantitative chemical composition of the essential oils in the two species have been compared.O. vulgare ssp.hirtum oil was found to contain carvacrol (76.4%), γ-terpinene (6.6%), thymol (0.23%), andp-cymene (4.7%) as the main constituents whereas the major compounds inO. vulgare ssp.vulgare oil werep-cymene (22.3%), caryophyllene oxide (10.2%), sabinene (7.9%), γ-terpinene (5.1%), thymol (0.34%), and spathulenol (4.8%). The stability of content and composition of the oils during the flowering period (economically beneficial period) were observed. The effect of long-term storage on the composition of the oil was also investigated for both the crude and distilled oil ofOriganum vulgare ssp.vulgare. In this study, the fatty acid contents of some Astragalus L. (Fabaceae) species from Turkey were determined by GC and GC-MS techniques. The seed oils of Astragalus sp. (A. echinops Aucher ex. Boiss., A. subrobustos Boriss., A. jodostachys, Boiss. & Buhse., A. falcatus Lam., A. fraxinifolius DC.) contained linolenic (between 23–41.%), linoleic (23–37%), and oleic acids (8–19%) as the major components. Fatty acid composition of the studied Astragalus taxa showed uniform fatty acid patterns. Palmitic and stearic acids were the major saturated fatty acids in the seed oils. Seed oils of 12 Salvia species collected from different regions in Turkey (S. Albimaculata Hedge & Hub.-Mor., S. Candidisima Vahl., S. Cedronella Boiss., S. Cryptantha Montbret & Aucher ex Bentham, S. Forskahlei L., S. Fruticosa Miller (Sin. S. Triloba L. Fil), S. Halophila Hedge, S. Hypargeia Fisch. & Mey., S. Sclarea L., S. Tomentosa Miller, S. Tchihatcheffii (Fisch. & Mey.) Boiss., S. Virgata Jacq.) were obtained by Soxhlet apparatus using hexane. The oil yields were found to be between 2.0% and 20.9%. Fatty acids in the oils were converted to methyl esters and determined by GC/MS in methyl ester form. The main fatty acid components of S. halophila, S. Hypargeia, and S. Sclarea are unsaturated oleic, linoleic, and linolenic acids. In others except S. Candidissima, the dominant acids are oleic, linoleic and palmitic acids.  相似文献

The plant family Compositae is known to produce a set of unusual fattly acids in their seed oil. Saussurea, a genus of the Compositae is less studied in respect to the fatty acid compsition of their seed oil. Only Saussurea candicans was reported to contain crepenynic acid (33%) as seed oil component. In continuation of our exploration of the portential of wild oil seeds, fatty acids in seed oils of seven Saussurea species (S. amara, S. salicifolia, S. lipschitzii, S. pseudoalpina, S. pricei, S. parviflora, and S. dorogostaiskii) growing in Mongolia a were investigated by means of capillary GLC on capiallary columns of different selectivity (Silar 5 CP and BPX 70). γ-Linolenic acid was found at levels up to 11% of the consitituent fatty acids of Saussurea spp. seed oils. This is the first time that γ-Linolenic acid has been found in members of the plant family Compositae. Moreover, the number, position and configuration of the double bonds in γ-linolenic acid and that of other fatty acids was additionally confirmed by silver ion thin layer chromatography and infrared spectroscopy. The occurence and distribution of γ-linolenic acid, which has found considerable interest for pharmaceutical and dietary use, may be of chemotaxonomical significance in the plant family Compositae.  相似文献

A new HPLC-DAD method was developed and validated for simultaneous determination of six main phenylethanoid glycosides (calceolarioside D, neocalceolarioside D, verbascoside, isoverbascoside, leucoseptoside A and martynoside) in the aerial parts of four Scutellaria L. taxa from flora of Turkey. All standard compounds showed a good linearity (R 2 > 0.999) in a relatively wide concentration range (1–120 μg/mL). The LOD of the compounds was in the range of 0.104–1.295 μg/mL and the LOQ was in the range of 0.450–2.536 μg/mL. The recoveries of the selected compounds were calculated in the range of 97.46–117.85%. The amounts of the phenylethanoid glycosides showed variation in the extracts. The developed method was found to be accurate, precise and reproducible, and successfully applied to identify and quantify the phenylethanoid glycoside composition of Scutellaria species.  相似文献

The fatty acid composition of seed extracts of Salvia bracteata, S. aethiopis, and S. candidissima ssp. candidissima were analyzed by GC/MS. The main compound of S. bracteata, S. aethiopis, and S. candidissima ssp. candissima was found to be 9,12-octadecenoic acid at 64.3%, 73.4%, and 20.8%, respectively. The seed extracts of S. bracteata showed activity against S. aureus E. coli, M. smegmatis, and C. albicans with MIC values of 1.1, 0.5, 1.1, and 1.1 mg/mL, respectively, while the seeds extract of S. aethiopis showed activity against the same microorganisms with MIC values of 2.2, 2.2, 1.1, and 1.1 mg/mL, respectively. Tanacetum species are consumed as tea in Turkey. We comparatively evaluated the phytochemical potentials and antioxidant activities of the essential oil and methanolic extracts of Tanacetum cilicicum. The chemical constitutes of T. cilicicum essential oil and antioxidant activity of this species was analysed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) method. Bicyclo (3,1,1) hept-2-en-4-ol (21.92%), camphor (15.56%) and 1,8-cineole (13.45%) which are oxygenated monoterpenes were found as the major constituents. Phenolic acids and flavonoids were quantificated by HPLC–UV. Catechin was found as the main component. The essential oils and methanolic extracts were evaluated by antioxidant activities. The leaves exhibited significant metal chelation activity with a value of 20.75 ± 4.63 μg/mL.  相似文献

In a search for environmentally friendly metal chelating ligands for industrial applications, the protonation and complex formation equilibria of [S,S,S]- and [R,S,R]-isomers of N-bis[2-(1,2-dicarboxyethoxy)ethyl] aspartic acid (BCA6) with Mg(II), Ca(II), Mn(II), Fe(III), Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions in aqueous 0.1 M NaCl solution were studied at 25°C by potentiometric titration. The model for complexation and the stability constants of the different complexes were determined for each metal ion using the computer program SUPERQUAD. With all metal ions (M n+), stable ML n?6 complexes dominated complex formation for both isomers. Differences in complexation models were found for binuclear species.  相似文献

The chemical composition of the essential oils of aerial parts of Artemisia campestris ssp. campestris, collected from ten different locations in Lithuania is detailed in this paper. The major component in all the oils was caryophyllene oxide (8.5-38.8%), whereas compounds with the caryophyllane skeleton ranged from 10.2 to 44.5%. Other representative constituents were germacrene D (< or = 15.0%), humulene epoxide II (< or = 8.1%), beta-ylangene (< or = 7.7%), spathulenol (< or = 6.8%), beta-elemene (< or = 6.8%), beta-caryophyllene (< or = 6.2%), junenol (< or = 6.1%) and alpha- or beta-pinene (< or = 5.5%). Eighty-seven compounds were identified, comprising 73.6-92.3% of the oils. The chemical composition was highly variable depending on the sample location. Toxicity of A. campestris oils was determined using the brine shrimp (Artemia sp.) assay. LC50 values ranging to 20 microg/mL were obtained for three of the oils after 24 hours of exposure. Data of this test revealed that A. campestris ssp. campestris essential oils with dominant caryophyllene oxide are notably toxic.  相似文献

The kernel oils of Quercus robur and Quercus cerris were obtained by Soxhlet extraction using petroleum ether. Oil yields were found to be 5.2–5.6% and 4.3–4.8% for Q. robur and Q. cerris kernel, respectively (expressed in g per 100 g of dried plant material). The physical and chemical constants, unsaponifiable matter and total fatty acids were determined. The total fatty acid composition of oils was determined by GC in the methyl ester form. Considering the composition and content of fatty acids, the examined kernel oils were very similar. Seven fatty acid components were identified in both oils: palmitic, stearic, arachidic, palmitoleic, oleic, linoleic, and -linolenic. In Q. robur and Q. cerris kernel oils the principal acids were oleic (44.3% and 43.0%, respectively) and linoleic (37.2% and 32.6%, respectively), followed by a significant amount of palmitic acid.Published in Khimiya Prirodnykh Soedinenii, No. 5, pp. 347–348, September–October, 2004.  相似文献

Syzygium paniculatum Gaertn of the family Myrtaceae is a medicinal and aromatic plant. The hydrodistilled volatile oil (VO) from the aerial parts was characterised by GC-MS and Kovat’s index, while the antioxidant property was investigated using spectrophotometric techniques. Antioxidant capacities of the aerial parts VOs range from 0.12 to 0.93?mg/mL in scavenging 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radicals (DPPH?). Overall, 75 and 67 compounds were identified from the summer and winter VOs, respectively. The main compounds were α-pinene (33.13%), n-hexadecanoic acid (19.14%), limonene (14.26%), farnesol (14.21%), β-ocimene (13.04%), citronellol (12.67%), linoleic acid (11.50%), octahydro-1,4-dimethyl azulene (11.57%), citral (9.91%), phytol (5.07%), linolenic acid (4.85%) and thymol (2.23%). The bioavailability of citronellol, thymol, β-ocimene and linoleic acid, used as bactericidal, fungicidal and antioxidant agents in cosmetics and perfumery, suggests S. paniculatum potential as a natural food flavouring and source of antibiotics in this era of emerging multi-drug-resistant pathogens.  相似文献

In this study, the chemical compositions of the essential oils from aerial parts (JmA) and radices (JmR) of Jacobaea maritima (L.) Pelser & Meijden, collected in Croatia, and of Jacobaea maritima subsp. bicolor (Willd.) B. Nord. & Greuter, collected in Sicily, were evaluated by using gas chromatography and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. The main components of the essential oil from J. maritima, both in JmA and JmR, were pentacosane (15.7%), heptacosane (13.1%) and nonacosane (8.1%) whereas the essential oil from J. maritima subsp. bicolor was characterised by the presence of hexadecanoic acid (14.6%), caryophyllene oxide (9.3%) and hexahydrofarnesylacetone (6.5%). The comparison of the essential oil with other studied oils of the genus Jacobaea is discussed.  相似文献

Microwave-assisted hydrodistillation (MAHD) was applied to obtain essential oils from the fresh flowers of Plumeria rubra Linn (PRL) and Plumeria rubra Linn var. acutifolia (PRLA) cultivated in China, which were subsequently analyzed via gas chromatography with flame ionization detection and gas chromatography with mass spectrometry. The essential oils were assessed for their antimicrobial activity. A variation of the chemical composition attributed to varieties was revealed. The essential oil of PRLA was found to have a high content of carboxylic acids (59.7%) with n-hexadecanoic acid (35.8%) and n-tetradecanoic acid (11.2%) as main components. Whereas, the PRL oil was characterized by high hydrocarbon content (38.6%), in which 9-hexacosene (14.6%) was found to be the major constituent. All essential oils possessed antimicrobial activity especially against five bacteria with diameter of inhibition zone (DD) and minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) values in the range of 6.8 to 21.3 mm and 2.8 to 46.5 mg/mL, respectively.  相似文献

Abstract

Essential oils from aerial parts of Senecio nutans, Senecio viridis, Tagetes terniflora and Aloysia gratissima were analysed by GC-MS and their antifungal activities were assayed on toxigenic Fusarium and Aspergillus species. Sabinene (27.6?±?0.1%), α-phellandrene (15.7?±?0.3%), o-cymene (9.6?±?0.2%) and β-pinene (6.1?±?0.2%) in S. nutans, 9,10-dehydrofukinone (92.7?±?0.2%) in S. viridis, β-thujone (36.1?±?0.1%), α-thujone (32.2?±?0.2%), 1,8-cineol (10.7?±?0.1%) and sabinene (6.2?±?0.2%) in A. gratissima, and cis-tagetone (33.6?±?0.2%), cis-β-ocimene (17.1?±?0.2%), trans-tagetone (17.0?±?0.1%), cis-ocimenone (8.0?±?0.2%) and trans-ocimenone (8.2?±?0.1%) in T. terniflora. The oils showed moderate antifungal activity (1.2?mg/mL?>?MIC >0.6?mg/mL) on the Fusarium species and a weak effect on Aspergillus species. The antifungal activity was associated on F. verticillioides to the high content of cis-tagetone, trans-tagetone, cis-β-ocimene, cis-ocimenone, trans-ocimenone and on F. graminearum due to the total content of oxygenated sesquiterpenes and 9,10- dehydrofukinone. The oil of S. viridis synergized the effect of fungicides and food preservatives on F. verticillioides.

Seed oils from the Compositae plant family are known to contain a variety of unusual fatty acids. Subsequent to the recent discovery of γ‐linolenic acid in Saussurea and Youngia, further Mongolian Compositae species were investigated for their seed oil fatty acid composition. A number of δ3trans‐fatty acids (16 : 1δ3t, 18 : 1δ3t and 18 : 3δ3t, 9c, 12c) were found in the seed oils of Heteropappus hispidus and Asterothamnus centrali‐asiaticus. The latter fatty acid, but not the trans‐monoenes, was also found in one species of Artemisia. These unusual fatty acid isomers were characterized by capillary gas‐liquid chromatographic (GLC) separations in combination with other chromatographic techniques (analytical thin layer chromatography, TLC and preparative argentation TLC), and infrared spectrocsopy (IR). Their identity was further confirmed by co‐chromatography with other seed oils known to contain these trans‐fatty acids. The fact that within the Compositae plant family there are apparently two or three distinct groups of genera containing δ3trans‐fatty acids is discussed.  相似文献

The qualitative and quantitative compositions of anthocyans from fruit of plants of the Caprifoliaceae family grown under conditions of Belgorod region were investigated. The plants included elder species [Sambucus nigra L. (I), S. canadensis (II), and S. canadensis f. sceletoniana (III)], Viburnum opulus L., and Lonicera caerulea L. It has been found that the principal anthocyans of I are cyanidin-3-sambubioside (52.5%) and cyanidin-3-glucoside (37.1%) whereas from the other two elder species the principal component was cyanidin-3-sambubioside-5-glucoside, acylated p-coumaric acid, 70.9 (II) and 54.3% (III). Fruit of the other plants did not contain acylated anthocyans. Senna occidentalis and S. hirsuta are mostly gathered from the wild for medicinal use and have a disagreeable odour when crushed. The volatile oils isolated from fresh fruits of S. occidentalis and S. hirsuta were subjected to gas chromatography (GC), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and antimicrobial assays. GC and GC-MS analyses permitted the identification of 58 constituents. S. occidentalis oil was dominated by cyperene (10.8%), β-caryophyllene (10.4%), limonene (8.0%) and caryophyllene oxide (6.8%). The main components of S. hirsuta fruit oil were benzyl benzoate (24.7%), τ-cadinol (18.9%), 2,5-dimethoxy-p-cymene (14.6%) and β-caryophyllene (5.1%). S. occidentalis fruit oil exhibited better antimicrobial activity (MIC 78–312 μg/mL) against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Aspergillus niger compared with S. hirsuta oil. The compositions and the activities of the fruit essential oils of S. occidentalis and S. hirsuta are reported for the first time.  相似文献
