Functional inks for light-based 3D printing are actively being searched for being able to exploit all the potentialities of additive manufacturing. Herein, a fast visible-light photopolymerization process is showed of conductive PEDOT:PSS hydrogels. For this purpose, a new Type II photoinitiator system (PIS) based on riboflavin (Rf), triethanolamine (TEA), and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) is investigated for the visible light photopolymerization of acrylic monomers. PEDOT:PSS has a dual role by accelerating the photoinitiation process and providing conductivity to the obtained hydrogels. Using this PIS, full monomer conversion is achieved in less than 2 min using visible light. First, the PIS mechanism is studied, proposing that electron transfer between the triplet excited state of the dye (3Rf*) and the amine (TEA) is catalyzed by PEDOT:PSS. Second, a series of poly(2-hydroxyethyl acrylate)/PEDOT:PSS hydrogels with different compositions are obtained by photopolymerization. The presence of PEDOT:PSS negatively influences the swelling properties of hydrogels, but significantly increases its mechanical modulus and electrical properties. The new PIS is also tested for 3D printing in a commercially available Digital Light Processing (DLP) 3D printer (405 nm wavelength), obtaining high resolution and 500 µm hole size conductive scaffolds.  相似文献

Sodium manganese hexacyanoferrate (NaMnHCF) was synthesized by a hydrothermal method and investigated as a cathode material for sodium-ion batteries. The morphology and the structure of NaMnHCF were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and EDX analysis. New composition of NaMnHCF cathode material for sodium-ion batteries with eco-friendly water-based binder consisting of conducting polymer poly-3,4-ethylenedioxythiopene/polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) dispersion and carboxymethyl cellulose (СМС) was proposed. The electrochemical properties of NaMnHCF cathode material with conductive polymer binder were investigated by cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge-discharge, and the results were compared with the performance of a conventional PVDF-bound material. It was shown that the initial discharge capacity of electrodes with conductive binder is 130 mAh g−1, whereas the initial discharge capacity of PVDF-bound electrodes was 109 mAh g−1 (both at current density 120 mA g−1, values normalized by NaMnHCF mass). The material with conductive binder also has better rate capability; however, it is losing in cycling capability to the electrode composition with conventional PVDF binder.

In the view of sustainable development and environmental protection, degradable agricultural films with on-demand thermal insulation properties have attracted growing research interest in the last few decades due to the deteriorating environment and extreme climate on the growth and existence of crops. Here, a general strategy has been developed to fabricate degradable silver nanowires modified cellulose (AgNW/cellulose) hybrid film with controllable thermal insulation and antibacterial properties by using plant cellulose and AgNWs as building blocks, PVA and PEG as film forming solvent, as well as their agriculture application. The results show that the AgNWs are evenly dispersed in the three-dimensional grid of cellulose, that they form a film that can withstand a certain tensile force and have good thermal stability. Due to the excellent electrical conductivity, the AgNW/cellulose hybrid films can provide excellent Joule heating, generating rapid thermal response and uniform electrical heating at a low supply voltage of 3 V. In the antibacterial tests against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, the AgNW/cellulose hybrid films exhibited large diameters of inhibition zones, revealing the high antibacterial activity. Additionally, the AgNW/cellulose hybrid films showed highly stretchable behavior by delivering a breaking strain of 1.5% with a tensile stress of 0.45 MPa owing to the cross-linked structures of cellulose and AgNWs. Based on the above properties, this study not only provides a potential strategy for the fabrication of flexible and biodegradable agricultural films but also may provide new insights for agricultural thermal management.

Thick, uniform, easily processed, highly conductive polymer films are desirable as electrodes for solar cells as well as polymer capacitors. Here, a novel scalable strategy is developed to prepare highly conductive thick poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate (HCT‐PEDOT:PSS) films with layered structure that display a conductivity of 1400 S cm?1 and a low sheet resistance of 0.59 ohm sq?1. Organic solar cells with laminated HCT‐PEDOT:PSS exhibit a performance comparable to the reference devices with vacuum‐deposited Ag top electrodes. More importantly, the HCT‐PEDOT:PSS film delivers a specific capacitance of 120 F g?1 at a current density of 0.4 A g?1. All‐solid‐state flexible symmetric supercapacitors with the HCT‐PEDOT:PSS films display a high volumetric energy density of 6.80 mWh cm?3 at a power density of 100 mW cm?3 and 3.15 mWh cm?3 at a very high power density of 16160 mW cm?3 that outperforms previous reported solid‐state supercapacitors based on PEDOT materials.  相似文献

Stretchable conductive hydrogels have received significant attention due to their possibility of being utilized in wearable electronics and healthcare devices. In this work, a semi-interpenetrating polymer network (SIPN) strategy was employed to fabricate a set of flexible, stretchable and conductive composite hydrogels composed of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) in the presence of glutaraldehyde as the crosslinker, HCl as the catalyst and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrenesulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) as the conductive medium. The results from FTIR, Raman, SEM and TGA indicate that a chemical crosslinking network and interactions of PVA and PEDOT:PSS exist in the SIPN hydrogels. The swelling ratio of hydrogels decreased with increasing content of PEDOT:PSS. Due to the chemical crosslinking network and interactions of PVA and PEDOT:PSS, PVA networks semi-interpenetrated with PEDOT:PSS exhibited excellent tensile and compression properties. The tensile strength and elongation at breakage of the composite hydrogels with 0.14 wt% PEDOT:PSS were 70 KPa and 239%, respectively. The compression stress of the composite hydrogels with 0.14 wt% PEDOT:PSS at a strain of 50% was about 216 KPa. The electrical conductivity of the hydrogels increased with increasing PEDOT:PSS content. The flexible, stretchable and conductive properties endow the composite hydrogel sensor with a superior gauge factor of up to 4.4 (strain: 100%). Coupling the strain sensing capability to the flexibility, good mechanical properties and high electrical conductivity, we consider that the designed PVA/PEDOT:PSS composite hydrogels have promising applications in wearable devices, such as flexible electronic skin and sensitive strain sensors.  相似文献

Recently, stretchable electrochemical sensors have stood out as a powerful tool for the detection of soft cells and tissues, since they could perfectly comply with the deformation of living organisms and synchronously monitor mechanically evoked biomolecule release. However, existing strategies for the fabrication of stretchable electrochemical sensors still face with huge challenges due to scarce electrode materials, demanding processing techniques and great complexity in further functionalization. Herein, we report a novel and facile strategy for one-step preparation of stretchable electrochemical biosensors by doping ionic liquid and catalyst into a conductive polymer (poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate), PEDOT:PSS). Bis(trifluoromethane) sulfonimide lithium salt as a small-molecule plasticizer can significantly improve the stretchability and conductivity of the PEDOT:PSS film, and cobalt phthalocyanine as an electrocatalyst endows the film with excellent electrochemical sensing performance. Moreover, the functionalized PEDOT:PSS retained good cell biocompatibility with two extra dopants. These satisfactory properties allowed the real-time monitoring of stretch-induced transient hydrogen peroxide release from cells. This work presents a versatile strategy to fabricate conductive polymer-based stretchable electrodes with easy processing and excellent performance, which benefits the in-depth exploration of sophisticated life activities by electrochemical sensing.

A facile strategy for constructing stretchable sensors with excellent mechanical, electrochemical and biocompatible performance is developed, and in situ inducing and monitoring of stretch-evoked H2O2 release from cells has been successfully achieved.  相似文献

In recent years, the use of organic materials to infer conductivity in biomedical devices has received increasing attention. Typical inorganic semiconductors and conductors are rigid and expensive, usually require multiple processing steps and are unsuitable for biomedical applications. Electrochemically or chemically doped conjugated polymers help to overcome these problems due to their stability, low cost, light weight and excellent electrical and optical properties. The conducting polymer poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) is the material of choice for biomedical applications as it is water soluble, however, there are growing concerns around its stabilizer, PSS, due to its release of acidic products upon degradation in-vivo. Here, we report the successful synthesis of PEDOT nanoparticles using hyaluronic acid (HA) as a stabilizer via an oxidative miniemulsion polymerisation technique. This improves the bioactivity and hydrophilicity of nanoparticles. The effect of varying amounts of HA and different molar ratios of EDOT:TOS has been studied and their role in the conductive and morphological properties of final nanoparticles has been fully elucidated. Furthermore, bioactivity and biocompatibility of the nanoparticles are demonstrated for customizable in vivo applications. Nanoparticles were found to have a conductivity up to 10 times greater than pristine PEDOT:PSS with increased addition of oxidant. The proposed easy-to-manufacture approach, along with the highlighted superior properties, expands the potential of conductive polymers in future customizable biological applications such as tissue scaffolds, nerve conduits and cardiac patches and represents a real breakthrough from the current state of the art.  相似文献

A conductive paper was made of cellulose fibers with a multilayer of polyethyleneimine (PEI) and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) and the factors to increase the conductivity of the paper were investigated. The adsorption amount and the structure of PEI and PEDOT:PSS multilayer was changed by controlling salt concentration and the number of layers, and inter-contact degree of fibers was controlled by calendering. The adsorption behavior of the polyelectrolytes onto cellulose was evaluated using a quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring, and the adsorption amount was quantitatively analyzed through Kjeldahl nitrogen analysis and an Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer. The conductivity of the resultant paper was in the range of 10?5–10?4 S/cm without loss of paper strength. The conductivity of the paper increased when the multilayer was formed at low salt concentration and the conductive paper was calendered. It appeared that electron transfer by increased contact between PEDOT:PSS improved the conductivity of the paper.  相似文献

The primary goal with this work is to create electrically conductive cellulose fibres, this has been done to explore possible new applications for fibre based material. This research uses various methods to create polyelectrolyte multilayers (PEMs) on bleached softwood fibres and on SiO2 model surfaces, by sequentially treating these materials with poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulphonate) (PEDOT:PSS) and poly(allyl amine) (PAH). Paper sheets were then produced from the PEM-modified pulp and evaluated in terms of tensile strength, adsorbed amount of polymer, and electrical conductivity. To evaluate the influence of fibre charge on the measured paper properties, pulps of two different initial fibre charge densities were prepared via carboxymethylation. Because of the bluish colour of PEDOT:PSS, the build-up of PEM could be easily followed, since the fibres grew increasingly darker blue throughout the modification sequence. The conductivity of the fibre network increased by 2−3 orders of magnitude when the pulp of a higher fibre charge density was used. This suggests that it is more important to create a fibrous network with a high fibre-fibre joint strength and a large total joined area in the sheet rather than to maximize the adsorbed amount of PEDOT:PSS. A difference in conductivity could also be noted depending on the polyelectrolyte adsorbed in the outer layer, PAH lowered the conductivity compared to PEDOT:PSS. Evaluating the mechanical properties revealed that the use of PEDOT:PSS reduces the tensile strength of the paper. When five double layers had been adsorbed onto the carboxymethylated sample in which PEDOT:PSS formed the outer layer, calculations indicated a 25% decrease in tensile strength compared to that of reference material without PEMs. ESEM studies indicate that PEM treatment produces a significantly changed and somewhat smoother fibre surface.  相似文献

Ultra-lightweight cellulose foams were prepared by regeneration of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)/cellulose/NaOH/urea blend solution via mechanical agitation and then freeze-drying. The morphology and properties of the blend solutions and foams were investigated via optical microscope, rheometer, BET and SEM. As a result, it was found that the inclusion complex structure between cellulose macromolecules and the solvent molecules was not destroyed. Moreover, the bubbles were about 20–50 μm in the solutions and larger (>100 μm) in the foams. Not only the micropores (bubbles) but also the nanopores could be observed in the wet and dried foams. The cellulose foams possessed ultra-low density of about 30 mg/cm3 and high specific surface area. The result of X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy indicated that the cellulose foams were transited from cellulose I to cellulose II after dissolution and gelation. Bubbles inside the wet foams weakened the mechanical properties, but inversely increased the mechanical properties in the dried foams. Typical “J”-shaped curves were observed during the mechanical test, which revealed good compressive strength of dried foams. In this work, cellulose foams with ultra-lightweight and good mechanical properties were obtained, which exhibited great potentials for further development and comprehensive utilization of cellulose.  相似文献

In this research, thermoresponsive and conductive fibers with core‐sheath structure were fabricated by coaxial electrospinning. For preparing the spinning sheath solution, poly‐(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐N‐methylolacrylamide) (PNN) copolymer having thermoresponsive and cross‐linkable properties was synthesized by free‐radical polymerization using redox initiators; it was then mixed with the conductive poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) at different weight ratios in water. On the other hand, poly(butyl acrylate‐co‐styrene) (PBS) copolymer synthesized by emulsion polymerization was dissolved in chloroform and used as the spinning core solution. After electrospinning, the fibers were treated at 110 °C for 1 h to cross‐link the PNN portion in the sheath for strengthening the fibers. Well‐defined core‐sheath fibers were observed from SEM pictures; the outside and inside (core) diameters were 568 ± 24 and 290 ± 40 nm, respectively, as determined from TEM pictures. The fiber mats were further doped by DMSO to enhance their conductivity. For the fiber mat with the weight ratio of PEDOT:PSS/PNN at 0.20 in the sheath, its surface conductivity could reach 29.4 S/cm. In addition, the fiber mats exhibited thermoresponsive properties that both swelling ratio and electric resistance decreased with temperature. Furthermore, the fiber mats exhibited improved flexibility as evaluated via bending test. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Chem. 2016 , 54, 1299–1307  相似文献

Abstract

The conductivity of poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrenesulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) film can be enhanced by more than two orders in magnitude by adding a compound with two or more polar groups, such as ethylene glycol (EG), meso‐erythritol (IUPAC name: 1,2,3,4‐tetrahydroxybutane), or 2‐nitroethanol, into the PEDOT:PSS aqueous solution. The mechanism of the increase in conductivity for PEDOT:PSS has been studied using Raman spectroscopy and atomic force microscope (AFM). Here we propose that the change in conductivity is due to the conformational change of PEDOT chains in the film. In untreated PEDOT:PSS films, coil, linear, or expanded‐coil conformations of the PEDOT chains may be present. In treated PEDOT:PSS films, the linear or expanded‐coil conformations may becomes the dominant form for PEDOT chains. This conformational change results in the enhancement of charge‐carrier mobility in the film and leads to enhanced conductivity. The high‐conductivity PEDOT:PSS film is ideal as the electrode for polymer optoelectronic devices. In this article, we report on the fabrication of polymer light‐emitting diodes (PLEDs) and photovoltaic cells (PVs) made using a highly conductive form of PEDOT:PSS as anode, and we demonstrate its performance relative to that of similar device using indium‐tin oxide (ITO) as the anode.  相似文献

Lithium metal anodes (LMAs) with high energy density have recently captured increasing attention for development of next-generation batteries. However, practical viability of LMAs is hindered by the uncontrolled Li dendrite growth and infinite dimension change. Even though constructing 3D conductive skeleton has been regarded as a reliable strategy to prepare stable and low volume stress LMAs, engineering the renewable and lithiophilic conductive scaffold is still a challenge. Herein, a robust conductive scaffold derived from renewable cellulose paper, which is coated with reduced graphene oxide and decorated with lithiophilic Au nanoparticles, is engineered for LMAs. The graphene cellulose fibres with high surface area can reduce the local current density, while the well-dispersed Au nanoparticles can serve as lithiophilic nanoseeds to lower the nucleation overpotential of Li plating. The coupled relationship can guarantee uniform Li nucleation and unique spherical Li growth into 3D carbon matrix. Moreover, the natural cellulose paper possesses outstanding mechanical strength to tolerate the volume stress. In virtue of the modulated deposition behaviour and near-zero volume change, the hybrid LMAs can achieve reversible Li plating/stripping even at an ultrahigh current density of 10 mA cm−2 as evidenced by high Coulombic efficiency (97.2 % after 60 cycles) and ultralong lifespan (1000 cycles) together with ultralow overpotential (25 mV). Therefore, this strategy sheds light on a scalable approach to multiscale design versatile Li host, promising highly stable Li metal batteries to be feasible and practical.  相似文献

Fabricating mechanically strong hydrogels that can withstand the conditions in internal tissues is a challenging task. We have designed hydrogels based on multicomponent systems by combining chitosan, starch/cellulose, PVA, and PEDOT:PSS via one-pot synthesis. The starch-based hydrogels were homogeneous, while the cellulose-based hydrogels showed the presence of cellulose micro- and nanofibers. The cellulose-based hydrogels demonstrated a swelling ratio between 121 and 156%, while the starch-based hydrogels showed higher values, from 234 to 280%. Tensile tests indicated that the presence of starch in the hydrogels provided high flexibility (strain at break?>?300%), while combination with cellulose led to the formation of stiffer hydrogels (elastic moduli 3.9–6.6 MPa). The ultimate tensile strength for both types of hydrogels was similar (2.8–3.9 MPa). The adhesion and growth of human osteoblast-like SAOS-2 cells was higher on hydrogels with cellulose than on hydrogels with starch, and was higher on hydrogels with PEDOT:PSS than on hydrogels without this polymer. The metabolic activity of cells cultivated for 3 days in the hydrogel infusions indicated that no acutely toxic compounds were released. This is promising for further possible applications of these hydrogels in tissue engineering or in wound dressings.

A series of highly proton conductive electrolyte membranes with improved methanol barrier properties are prepared from polyallylamine hydrochloride (PAH) and polystyrene sulfonic acid (PSS) including salt by Layer-by-Layer (LbL) method. The effects of added salt type (NaCl, MgCl2) and salt concentration (1.0 M, 0.1 M) on proton conductivity (σ) and methanol barrier properties of the LbL self-assembled composite membranes are discussed in terms of controlled layer thickness and charge density. Furthermore, the influences of ion type in the multilayered composite membranes are studied in conjunction with physicochemical and thermal properties. The deposition of the self-assembly of PAH/PSS film on Nafion is followed by UV–Vis spectroscopy and it is observed that the polyelectrolyte layers growth on both sides of Nafion membrane regularly. (PAH/PSS)5–Na+ and (PAH/PSS)5–H+ with 1.0 M NaCl exhibits 49.6 and 27.8% reduction in lower methanol permittivity in comparison with the pristine Nafion®117, respectively, while the proton conductivities are 12.97 and 74.69 mS cm−1. Promisingly, it is found that the membrane selectivity values (Φ) of all multilayered membranes in H+ form are much higher than that of salt form (Na+ and Mg2+) and perfluorosulfonated ionomers reported in the literature. Also, we find out that the use of polyelectrolytes with high charge density causes a further improvement in proton conductivity and methanol barrier properties simultaneously. These encouraging results indicate that upon a suitable choice of LbL deposition conditions, composite membranes exhibiting both high proton conductivity and improved methanol barrier properties can be tailored for fuel cells.  相似文献

Poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonic acid) (PEDOT:PSS) films exhibit a complex structure of interconnected conductive PEDOT domains in an insulating PSS matrix that controls their electrical properties. This structure is modified by a water rinse, which removes PSS with negligible PEDOT loss. Upon PSS removal, film thickness is reduced by 35%, conductivity is increased by 50%, and a prominent dielectric relaxation is eliminated. These results suggest that the removed PSS is not associated with PEDOT and that the conductive domain network is not substantially altered by the removal of a significant fraction of insulator. The removal of PSS may benefit organic light emitting diode fabrication by reducing acid attack on indium tin oxide electrodes and lead to more robust performance in switching circuits by extending the working frequency range.  相似文献

Highly conductive poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene-sulfonic acid)(PEDOT:PSS) has been explored to fabricate flexible and stretchable conductors. Generally, PEDOT:PSS transparent anodes are prepared by spin-coating method. In this article, we adopt a method by dropping PEDOT:PSS aqueous solution on the PET plastic substrate to fabricate flexible electrodes. Compared with spin coating, drop-coating is simple and cost-effective with large-area fabrications. Through this method, we fabricated highly transparent conductive electrodes and systematically studied their electrical, optical, morphological and mechanical properties. With dimethyl sulfoxide/methanesulfonic acid(DMSO/MSA) treated PEDOT:PSS electrode, bendable devices based on non-fullerene system displayed an open-circuit voltage of 0.925 V, a fill factor of 70.74%, and a high power conversion efficiency(PCE) of 10.23% under 100 mW cm~(-2) illumination, which retained over 80% of the initial PCE value after 1000 bending cycles. Based on the findings, drop-coated PEDOT:PSS electrodes exhibited high suitability for the development of large-area and high-efficiency printed solar cell modules in the future.  相似文献

Multifunctional fibers have attracted widespread attention due to applications in flexible smart wearable devices. However, simultaneously obtaining a strong and functional woven fiber is still a great challenge owing to the conflict between the properties mentioned above. Herein, mechanically strong and highly conductive cellulose/carbon nanotube (CNT) composite fibers were spun using an aqueous alkaline/urea solution. The microstructure as well as physical properties of the resulting fibers were characterized via scanning electron microscopy, infrared spectroscopy, mechanical and electrical measurement. We demonstrated that carboxylic CNTs can be well dispersed in alkali/urea aqueous systems which also dissolved cellulose well. The subsequent wet spinning process aligned the CNTs and cellulose molecules inside the regenerated composite fiber well, enhancing the interaction between these two components and endowing the composite fiber having a 20% CNT loading with an excellent mechanical strength of 185 MPa. Benefiting from the formation of conductive paths, the composite fiber with the diameter of about 50 μm possessed an electrical conductivity value in the range of 64–1274 S/m for 5–20 wt% CNT loading. This excellent mechanical strength and high electrical conductivity enable the composite fiber to exhibit a great potential in joule heating; the heating temperature of cellulose/CNT-20 fiber reached more than 55 °C within 15 s at 9 V. In addition, the multifunctional filaments are further manufactured as a water sensor to measure humidity. This work provides a potential material that can be applied in the fields of wearable electronics and smart flexible fabrics.

The interaction between poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene) doped with poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) and cellulosic fibers was characterized in order to obtain further understanding of the conductivity properties of the modified cellulosic fiber material. Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) was used as a model surface to study the adsorption behavior at various pH and salt concentrations, while samples of low-conductivity paper, normally used for the production of electrical insulation papers, were dipped into PEDOT:PSS dispersion and air-dried for X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) studies. The results showed a strong interaction between the MCC and PEDOT:PSS, which implied a broad molecular distribution of the conducting polymer. With increasing pH, less amount of the conducting polymer was adsorbed whereas the amount adsorbed passed through a maximum value with varying salt concentration. Zeta potential measurement and polyelectrolyte titration were used to determine the surface charge of both suspended MCC particles and dispersed PEDOT:PSS at various pH levels and salt concentrations. Dip-coated paper samples exhibited two peaks in the S(2p) XPS spectra at 168–169 and 164–165 eV which correspond to the sulfur signals of sulfonate (in PSS) and in thiophene (in PEDOT), respectively. It was found that the PEDOT:PSS with a ratio of 1:2.5 was adsorbed more in the base paper than that with a ratio of 1:6. The PEDOT:PSS ratio on the surface of the cellulosic material was higher than that in the bulk liquid for all samples. The results indicated that PEDOT was preferentially adsorbed rather than PSS. The degree of washing of the conducting polymer did not significantly affect the PEDOT enhancement on the surface.  相似文献
