The aim of the present work was to synthesize carrageenan coated silver nanoparticles (CA–AgNPs) using carrageenan as reducing and stabilizing agent. For this purpose, 10 mL of 0.35% (w/v) carrageenan solution was mixed with 10 mL AgNO3 solution at different concentrations (1, 5 and 10 mM), and the resulting mixture was stirred at 100 °C at high speed for 2 h. The formation of CA–AgNPs was proven with the surface plasmon peaks observed at approximately 420 nm. The sizes and zeta potentials of CA–AgNPs were determined by Zeta-Sizer. Negative zeta potentials of CA–AgNPs indicated that the obtained AgNPs were stable. With scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope analysis, it was seen that CA–AgNPs have spherical structure. According to the energy dispersion spectrometer analysis based on SEM images, it was observed that the samples were elementally composed of carbon, oxygen, sulfur, potassium and silver. The chemical structures of CA–AgNPs were determined by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and it was proved that the carbonyl and OH groups of carrageenan were involved in formation and stabilizing of AgNPs, respectively. According to thermal gravimetric analysis, it has been observed that CA–AgNPs were thermally more stable than pure carrageenan. Antibacterial activity of CA–AgNPs against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria was investigated with agar well diffusion and liquid test. It has been observed that CA–AgNPs synthesized with 1 mM AgNO3 did not have an antibacterial activity on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Inhibition zones of varying diameters were observed in the 5 mM and 10 mM S-AgNPs groups. The synthesized CA–AgNPs (5 and 10 mM) have the capacity to be used in wound dressing materials or topical agents applied to burns and wounds due to their antibacterial effects and stability.

The effects of pH of the buffer solution and the composition of the hydrogel system on the bovine serum albumin (BSA) adsorption capacity of chitosan (CS)–polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) (CSPVP) hydrogels and release of BSA were investigated. Poly-electrolyte CSPVP hydrogels with different compositions were prepared by irradiating CS/PVP/water mixtures with γ-rays at ambient temperature. The adsorption capacity of hydrogels was found to increase from 0 to 350 mg BSA/g dry gel, by changing external stimuli and hydrogel composition. The adsorption of BSA within CSPVP hydrogels increased with increase in CS content in the hydrogels. When the irradiation doses of hydrogel increased, the adsorption of BSA decreased. The maximum adsorption of BSA was observed at pH 5. A significant amount of the adsorbed BSA (up to 95%) was eluted in the phosphate medium containing 0.1 M NaCl at pH 7.4.  相似文献

A series of antibacterial hydrogels were fabricated from an aqueous solution of AgNO3, gelatin and carboxymethyl chitosan (CM-chitosan) by radiation-induced reduction and crosslinking at ambient temperature. The nanosilver particles were in situ synthesized accompanying with the formation of gelatin/CM-chitosan hydrogel. Transmission Electron Microscope and UV–vis analysis have verified the formation and homogeneous distribution of nanosilver particles in the hydrogel matrix. The nanosilver/gelatin/CM-chitosan hydrogels possessed interconnected porous structure, had a compressive modulus of 44 to 56 kPa, and could absorb 62 to 108 times of deionized water to its dry weight. Furthermore, the hydrogels were found to have sound antibacterial effect on Escherichia coli (E. coli), and their antibacterial ability could be significantly enhanced by the increasing of AgNO3 content. The comprehensive results of this study suggest that nanosilver/gelatin/CM-chitosan hydrogels have potential as an antibacterial wound dressing.  相似文献

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) attract a great deal of attention for potent antibacterial capacity, but their use is challenged by limited stability. Inspired by the adhesive and redox properties of the mussel foot proteins containing L -3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA), a facile strategy for in situ synthesis of AgNPs using DOPA-containing fibroin is developed. Tyrosine residues in fibroin are transformed into DOPA via biomimetic synthesis method with content of 0.55 mol%. In situ synthesis generates stable and small AgNPs through DOPA bound in fibroin as a reducing and stabilizing agent. Narrow size distribution with average diameter of 20 nm and excellent monodispersity are obtained. Cross-linking with lysine increases the content of β-sheet to form hydrogel and achieves gradual release of silver. The material exhibits excellent antibacterial properties against Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus and Gram-negative Escherichia coli bacteria. It can be potentially applied in biological and medical fields to treat bacterial infections.  相似文献

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have attracted considerable attention owing to their unique biological applications. AgNPs synthesized by plant extract is considered as a convenient, efficient and eco-friendly material. In this work, the aqueous extract of Areca catechu L. nut (ACN) was used as the reducing and capping agents for one-pot synthesis of AgNPs, and their antioxidant and antibacterial activities were investigated. UV (Ultra Violet)-visible spectrum and dynamic light scattering (DLS) analysis revealed that the size of AgNPs was sensitive to the synthesis conditions. The synthesized AgNPs were composed of well-dispersed particles with an small size of about 10 nm under the optimal conditions (pH value of extract was 12.0; AgNO3 concentration was 1.0 mM; reaction time was 90 min). In addition, scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) results further verified that the synthesized AgNPs had a stable and well-dispersed form (Zeta potential value of ?30.50 mV and polydispersity index of 0.328) and a regular spherical shape (average size of 15–20 nm). In addition, Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR) results revealed that phytochemical constituents in ACN aqueous extract accounted for Ag+ ion reduction, capping and stabilization of AgNPs. The possible reductants in the aqueous extract of Areca catechu L. nut were identified by high-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-quadrupole-time of flight-mass spectrometry (HPLC-ESI-qTOF/MS) method. More importantly, the synthesized AgNPs indicated excellent free radical scavenging activity of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH, IC50 = 11.75 ± 0.29 μg/mL) and 2,2-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt (ABTS+, IC50 = 44.85 ± 0.37 μg/mL), which were significant higher than that of ascorbic acid. Moreover, AgNPs exhibited an enhanced antibacterial activity against six selected common pathogens (especially Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus) compared with AgNO3 solution. In a short, this study showed that the Areca catechu L. nut aqueous extract could be applied for eco-friendly synthesis of AgNPs.  相似文献

Conducting polymer hydrogels consisting of polypyrrole (PPy) and chitosan (CS) are prepared by static polymerization of pyrrole using methyl orange (MO) as the dopant and Fe2(SO4)3 as the oxidant in the CS aqueous solution. PPy/CS composite hydrogels not only have good electrical conductivities, but also exhibit excellent swelling/deswelling behaviors due to the participation of one-dimensional conducting PPy blocks in the hydrogel network. The effects of the amount of the oxidant and ionic strength on the physical properties of PPy/CS composite hydrogels are studied in detail. The results show that PPy/CS composite hydrogels have improved water absorbencies in saline solutions compared with the conventional polyelectrolyte hydrogel.  相似文献

The photocatalytic reduction of toxic Cr(VI), to green Cr(III) by visible light, is highly required. Metal-organic frameworks have been waged more and more devotion in the field of environmental remediation. Diversification along with functionalization is still thought-provoking and crucial for the progress of metal-organic framework (MOF)-based high activity materials. Herein, a succession of UiO-66-NH2@ZnIn2S4 composites with varying amount of UiO-66-NH2 is prepared by the facile solvothermal technique. Synergetic effect for Cr(VI) reduction is assessed under the influence of visible light (λ > 420 nm). UiO-66-NH2 octahedron is detained by ZnIn2S4 nanoflakes. The obvious enhancement in activity is observed which is credited to the well-suited energy band construction and close interaction between the interface of ZnIn2S4 and UiO-66-NH2, which leads to effective transfer and separation of photogenerated carriers. Synergistic effect could be evidently understood from the PL and UV -spectroscopy, after molding into heterostructure of UiO-66-NH2@ZnIn2S4. In addition, UiO-66-NH2@ZnIn2S4 composites exhibited good stability in photocatalytic reduction. Consequently, this UiO-66-NH2 constructed composite has high potential in the field of environmental remediation.  相似文献

The emergence of multi‐drug resistant (MDR) bacteria and dynamic pattern of infectious diseases demand to develop alternative and more effective therapeutic strategies. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are among the most widely commercialized engineered nanomaterials, because of their unique properties and increasing use for various applications in nanomedicine. This study for the first time aimed to evaluate the antibacterial and antibiofilm activities of newly synthesized nanochelating based AgNPs against several Gram‐positive and ‐negative nosocomial pathogens. Nanochelating technology was used to design and synthesize the AgNPs. The cytotoxicity was tested in human cell line using the MTT assay. AgNPs minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) was determined by standard broth microdilution. Antibiofilm activity was assayed by a microtiter‐plate screening method. The two synthesized AgNPs including AgNPs (A) with the size of about 20‐25 nm, and AgNPs (B) with 30‐35 nm were tested against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Acinetobacter baumannii, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. AgNPs exhibited higher antibacterial activity against Gram‐positive strains. AgNPs were found to significantly inhibit the biofilm formation of tested strains in concentration 0.01 to 10 mg/mL. AgNPs (A) showed significant effective antibiofilm activity compared to AgNPs (B). In summary, our results showed the promising antibacterial and antibiofilm activity of our new nanochelating based synthesized AgNPs against several nosocomial pathogens.  相似文献

In order to develop a new functional product from lignin, sodium lignosulfonate (LS)-based polyurethane (LSPU) hydrogels were prepared from LS and hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) derivatives in water. Isocyanate/hydroxyl group ratio (NCO/OH ratio) was varied from 0.05 to 0.8 mol mol−1, and water content (Wc = mass of water/mass of dry sample) of the obtained LSPU hydrogels was varied from 0 to 3.0 g g−1. Phase transition behavior of hydrogels with various Wc’s was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TG). In DSC heating curve of LSPU hydrogels, glass transition, cold crystallization, melting and liquid crystallization were observed. Cold crystallization, two melting peaks and variation of melting enthalpy indicate that three kinds of water, i.e., non-freezing water, freezing bound water and free water, exist in LSPU hydrogel. Glass transition temperature (Tg) decreased from 230 to 190 K in a Wc range where non-freezing water was formed in the hydrogel. Tg increased when freezing bound water was formed in the system. Tg leveled off in a Wc range where normal ice was formed. The effect of NCO/OH ratio on molecular motion of LSPU hydrogel is examined based on Tg and heat capacity difference at TgCp). Water vaporization curve measured by TG also indicates the presence of bound water which evaporates at a temperature higher than ca. 410 K. By atomic force microscopic observation, the size of molecular bundle of LSPU hydrogel is calculated and compared with that of LS-water system. By cross-linking, the height of molecular bundle decreased from ca. 3–1 nm and lignin molecules extend in a flat structure.

This Full Paper reports the formation of silver (Ag) NPs within spatially resolved two-component hydrogel beads, which combine a low-molecular-weight gelator (LMWG) DBS-CONHNH2 and a polymer gelator (PG) calcium alginate. The AgNPs are formed through in situ reduction of AgI, with the resulting nanoparticle-loaded gels being characterised in detail. The antibacterial activity of the nanocomposite gel beads was tested against two drug-resistant bacterial strains, often associated with hospital-acquired infections: vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA14), and the AgNP-loaded gels showed good antimicrobial properties against both types of bacteria. It is suggested that the gel bead format of these AgNP-loaded hybrid hydrogels makes them promising versatile materials for potential applications in orthopaedics or wound healing.  相似文献

Bi2WO6/UiO-66-NH2 photocatalysts were fabricated through solvothermal method using acetic acid as template. The photocatalytic performance of as-fabricated composites was highly improved under simulated visible light due to the addition of UiO-66-NH2. The structural and chemical properties of the composites were characterized through FTIR, XRD, XPS, SEM, BET, UV–vis DRS and PL. After 90 min of visible light irradiation, the RhB at an initial concentration of 10 mg·L?1 in the solution was degraded by 99.4% due to the addition of 10 mg of the composite. There was no significant decrease in the photocatalytic activity even after four rounds of cycles. The free radical capture experiments indicate that the photogenerated holes (h+) were the main active sites. The possible photocatalytic degradation mechanism was proposed as the specific surface area of the composite was enlarged due to the uniform distribution of UiO-66-NH2 on the surface of Bi2WO6. The electron–hole pairs recombination rate was decreased due to the photogenerated electrons (e?) on the CB of Bi2WO6 which can be rapidly transferred to the CB of UiO-66-NH2 and the photogenerated holes of UiO-66-NH2 transferred to the VB of Bi2WO6. Meanwhile, the RhB was directly oxidized to H2O and CO2 by h+ to achieve the purification effect.

In a biological process where the herbal tea (Stachys lavandulifolia) aqueous extract was applied as a capping and reducing agent, nanoparticles (NPs) of silver (Ag) were synthesized. These AgNPs were characterized using Fourier transform‐infrared spectroscopy, field emission‐scanning electron microscopy, energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy. The synthesized AgNPs had great cell viability dose‐dependently [investigating the effect of the plant on human umbilical vein endothelial cell line] and indicated this method was non‐toxic. In this study, the 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging test was carried out to examine antioxidant properties, which revealed similar antioxidant properties for AgNPs and butylated hydroxytoluene. Agar diffusion tests were applied to determine the antibacterial characteristics. The macro‐broth tube test was run to determine minimum inhibitory concentration. All data of antibacterial and cutaneous wound‐healing examinations were analyzed by SPSS 21 software (Duncan post hoc test). AgNPs showed higher antibacterial property than all standard antibiotics (p ≤ 0.01). Also, AgNPs prevented the growth of all bacteria at 2–8 mg/ml concentrations and destroyed them at 2–16 mg/ml concentrations (p ≤ 0.01). For the in vivo experiment, after creating the cutaneous wound, the rats were randomly divided into six groups: untreated control; treatment with Eucerin basal ointment; treatment with 3% tetracycline ointment; treatment with 0.2% AgNO3 ointment; treatment with 0.2% S. lavandulifolia ointment; and treatment with 0.2% AgNPs ointment. These groups were treated for 10 days. For histopathological and biochemical analysis of the healing trend, a 3 × 3‐cm section was prepared from all dermal thicknesses at day 10. Use of AgNPs ointment in the treatment groups substantially reduced (p ≤ 0.01) the wound area, total cells, neutrophil, macrophage and lymphocyte, and remarkably raised (p ≤ 0.01) the wound contracture, hydroxyl proline, hexosamine, hexuronic acid, fibrocyte and fibrocytes/fibroblast rate compared with other groups. Seemingly, AgNPs can be used as a medical supplement owing to their non‐cytotoxic, antioxidant, antibacterial and cutaneous wound‐healing properties.  相似文献

Acrylic-based hydrogels with great potentials for usage in medical area were principally synthesized as per two strategies. The first involved reaction containing silver nitrate to yield silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) where Dolichos biflorus Linn acted as both reducing agent and stabilizing for green synthesized AgNPs was added to the reaction medium to establish reduction of Ag+ to AgNPs. The second strategy entailed preparation of nanosilver composite hydrogel that is carried out by free radical polymerization reaction in presence of Sodium Alginate and acrylamide (AAm) under the same conditions. In both strategies, factors affecting the characterization of AgNPs-loaded hydrogels were studied. Analysis and characterization of the so obtained hydrogels were performed through monitoring swelling behavior, FTIR spectroscopy, SEM, EDX, UV–Vis spectrophotometer, XRD, and TEM. Results indicate that modifying AAm and silver ion can improve swelling properties of the resultant nanocomposite hydrogel. pH response of this nanocomposite hydrogel in different pH made it suitable for drug delivery applications.  相似文献

Fairly uniform chitosan (CS)/poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) ultrafine fibers containing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were successfully prepared by electrospinning of CS/PEO solutions containing Ag/CS colloids by means of in situ chemical reduction of Ag ions. The presence of AgNPs in the electrospun ultrafine fibers was confirmed by X-ray diffraction patterns. The AgNPs were evenly distributed in CS/PEO ultrafine fibers with the size less than 5 nm observed under a transmission electron microscope. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy suggested that the existence of Ag―O bond in the composite ultrafine fibers led to the tight combination between Ag and CS. Evaluation of antimicrobial activities of the electrospun Ag/CS/PEO fibrous membranes against Escherichia coli showed that the AgNPs in the ultrafine fibers significantly enhanced the inactivation of bacteria.  相似文献

The development of electro-stimulated drug release devices is an innovative approach to attain the drug delivery in accurate doses at target sites in a programmed manner. In this work, novel electroactive nanocomposite hydrogels were prepared by encapsulating green-synthesized polypyrrole (PPy) colloids within chondroitin sulfate (CS) networks during the self-crosslinking of CS via N-ethyl-N′-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide chemistry. The structural and morphological properties of CS/PPy hydrogels were studied by Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and swelling kinetic measurements. The chemotherapeutic agent 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) was loaded into CS/PPy samples by hydrogel swelling method, or alternatively, by pre-incubating the drug in polymer mixture before crosslinking. Different electrical stimulations can be used to switch ON and accurately tune the 5-FU delivery from GG/PPy hydrogels. A single pulse potential of 5 V switched on the drug delivery up to 90% from nanocomposite hydrogel, in contrast to the low 5-FU amount released in a passive form (< 20%). PPy electroactive behavior played a determining role as the main driving force in 5-FU release activation. Cytotoxicity of hydrogels with and without 5-FU was examined in normal and cancer cells. Considering the high cytotoxicity of 5-FU, the ON/OFF 5-FU release patterns evidenced the potential of CS/PPy hydrogels for electrically controlled drug delivery in implantable or transdermal drug release devices.  相似文献

The multiple sizing of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized from the miscible compound of ethylene glycol (EG), polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and silver nitrate (AgNO3) via the solvothermal method. During the synthesis, the PVP-AgNO3 was contemplated as a paramount parameter. Using the simple method of solvothermal, the sizing of AgNPs was easily controlled in accord with the augmentation of PVP-AgNO3 at secured and moderate temperature. In regards to the sizing of AgNPs, the presence of minimum agglomeration, the absorption capability and chemical structures were highlighted through a series of verification includes ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis. The effectiveness of the synthesized AgNPs was further investigated and compared with the commercial AgNPs by incorporating the AgNPs into titanium dioxide (TiO2) semiconductor film-based dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Results signified that the spherical AgNPs with produced sizing within the range of 19.6 to 45.2 nm were greatly impacting by tunable quantities of PVP-AgNO3, which was validated in the forms of linear equations. A larger size promotes a slower nucleation rate that conduces agglomeration. In opposition to this, the smallest size of AgNPs develops a faster formation rate of Ag ions into AgNPs, inducing the deterrent of agglomeration in light of notable particle dispersion. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) contributed by the incorporation of synthesized AgNPs into TiO2 is also 41.2% higher than that of the commercial AgNPs-TiO2. This is because the synthesized AgNPs provides less agglomeration which led to a better surface plasmonic effect towards the nanoparticles.  相似文献

Anti-infection and neovascularization at the wound site are two vital factors that accelerate diabetic wound healing. However, for a wound healing dressing, the two functions need to work at different sites(inner and outer), giving big challenges for dressing design. This research aimed to enhance the antibacterial activity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized from silver nitrate (AgNO3) using aloe vera extract. It was performed by means of incorporating AgNPs on an activated carbon nanoparticle (ACNPs) under ultrasonic agitation (40 kHz, 2 × 50 watt) for 30 min in an aqueous colloidal medium. The successful AgNPs synthesis was clarified with both Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrophotometers. The successful AgNPs–ACNPs incorporation and its particle size analysis was performed using Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). The brown color suspension generation and UV-Vis’s spectra maximum wavelength at around 480 nm confirmed the existence of AgNPs. The particle sizes of the produced AgNPs were about 5 to 10 nm in the majority number, which collectively surrounded the aloe vera extract secondary metabolites formed core-shell like nanostructure of 8.20 ± 2.05 nm in average size, while ACNPs themselves were about 20.10 ± 1.52 nm in average size formed particles cluster, and 48.00 ± 8.37 nm in average size as stacking of other particles. The antibacterial activity of the synthesized AgNPs and AgNPs-immobilized ACNPs was 57.58% and 63.64%, respectively (for E. coli); 61.25%, and 93.49%, respectively (for S. aureus). In addition, when the AgNPs-immobilized ACNPs material was coated on the cotton and polyester fabrics, the antibacterial activity of the materials changed, becoming 19.23% (cotton; E. coli), 31.73% (polyester; E. coli), 13.36% (cotton; S. aureus), 21.15% (polyester; S. aureus).  相似文献

A facile synthetic strategy was developed for the preparation of thermoresponsive nanocomposite hydrogels comprising crosslinked chitosan (CS) networks and poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) [p(NIPAAm)] nanogels. First, thermoresponsive p(NIPAAm) nanogels were synthesized via emulsion polymerization. The p(NIPAAm) nanogels were introduced into methacrylamide CS (MC) solution and the free‐radical initiated crosslinking reaction of MC produced nanogel‐embedded hydrogels. The last step involves the loading of the antibacterial model drug levofloxacin (LFX) into the prepared nanocomposite hydrogels by allowing the preformed hydrogels to swell to equilibrium in the drug's aqueous solution. The integration of p(NIPAAm) nanogel into CS networks facilitates thermoresponsive release of LFX with an enhancement of the drug‐loading capacity within the hydrogel. Notably, thermoresponsive drug‐release was achieved without unwarranted modification of the hydrogel's dimension and shape, although an increase in temperature caused the collapse of the p(NIPAAm) nanogels. The thermoresponsive property of the investigated nanocomposite hydrogel is beneficial and may offer broad opportunities for drug temperature‐triggered release for clinical applications. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
