Summary In this paper we consider experimental settings in whichv test treatments are to be compared to some control or standard treatment and where heterogeneity needs to be eliminated inn-directions. Using techniques similar to those used by Kunnert (1983,Ann. Statist.,11, 247–257) concerning the determination of optimal designs under a refined linear model, some methods are given for constructingn-way classification designs which areA- andMV-optimal for estimating elementary treatment differences involving the standard treatment fromm-way classification designs,m<n, which areA- andMV-optimal for estimating the same treatment differences. Examples are given for the casen=2 to show how the results obtained can be applied.

In this paper, a characterization for an I(L)-topological space to be generated by a given co-tower of L-topological spaces is obtained. Moreover, the relationship between some properties of an I(L)-topological vector space generated by a co-tower of L-topological vector spaces and the corresponding properties of the given co-tower of L-topological vector spaces is investigated. Our results show that if an I(L)-topological vector space generated by a co-tower of L-topological vector spaces has some properties, such as local convexity and local boundedness, then all L-topological vector spaces in the co-tower also have the same properties. But the converse is incorrect even in the case of I-topological vector space generated by a co-tower of classical topological vector spaces. Finally, we supply a necessary and sufficient condition for an I(L)-topological vector space generated by a co-tower of L-topological vector spaces with some properties, such as local convexity and local boundedness, to have such properties too. 相似文献

Recently adaptive wavelet methods have been developed which can be shown to exhibit an asymptotically optimal accuracy/work
balance for a wide class of variational problems including classical elliptic boundary value problems, boundary integral equations
as well as certain classes of noncoercive problems such as saddle point problems. A core ingredient of these schemes is the
approximate application of the involved operators in standard wavelet representation. Optimal computational complexity could
be shown under the assumption that the entries in properly compressed standard representations are known or computable in
average at unit cost. In this paper we propose concrete computational strategies and show under which circumstances this assumption
is justified in the context of elliptic boundary value problems.

We compute in this paper the distribution of the area
swept under the occupation process of an M/M/1 queue during a busy period. For this purpose, we use the expression of the Laplace transform
of the random variable
established in earlier studies as a fraction of Bessel functions. To get information on the poles and the residues of
, we take benefit of the fact that this function can be represented by a continued fraction. We then show that this continued
fraction is the even part of an S fraction and we identify its successive denominators by means of Lommel polynomials. This allows us to numerically evaluate
the poles and the residues. Numerical evidence shows that the poles are very close to the numbers
as
. This motivated us to formulate some conjectures, which lead to the derivation of the asymptotic behaviour of the poles and
the residues. This is finally used to derive the asymptotic behaviour of the probability survivor function
. The outstanding property of the random variable
is that the poles accumulate at 0 and its tail does not exhibit a nice exponential decay but a decay of the form
for some positive constants c and
, which indicates that the random variable
has a Weibull-like tail.

The vector field formulation of and the Sato-Segal-Wilson approach to soliton equations are related to each other in this paper. From Banach Lie groups associated with the MKdV hierarchy of differential equations, we derive homogeneous Banach manifolds of solutions on which these equations are realized by vector fields. In the same way, we obtain homogeneous Banach manifolds of solutions to the sine-Gordon equation. The scattering and inverse scattering maps in this set-up are also discussed. 相似文献

In this paper, we study vector variational inequalities. The concept of weaklyC-pseudomonotone operator is introduced. By employing the Fan lemma, we establish several existence results. The new results extend and unify existence results of vector variational inequalities for monotone operators under a Banach space setting. Given a mapping g : K → K and a vector valued bifunction f : K × K → Y, we consider the implicit vector equilibrium problem (IVEP) of finding χ* ε K such that f g(χ*), y) -int C(χ) for all y ε K. This problem generalizes the (scalar) implicit equilibrium problem and implicit variational inequality problem. We propose the dual of the implicit vector equilibrium problem (DIVEP) and establish the equivalence between (IVEP) and (DIVEP) under certain assumptions. Also, we give characterizations of the set of solutions for (IVP) in case of nonmonotonicity, weak C-pseudomonotonicity, C-pseudomonotonicity, and strict C-pseudomonotonicity, respectively. Under these assumptions, we conclude that the sets of solutions are nonempty, closed, and convex. Finally, we give some applications of (IVEP) to vector variational inequality problems and vector optimization problems. 相似文献

It is well known that a Hopf vector field on the unit sphere S
2n+1 is the Reeb vector field of a natural Sasakian structure on S
2n+1. A contact metric manifold whose Reeb vector field ξ is a harmonic vector field is called an H-contact manifold. Sasakian and K-contact manifolds, generalized (k, μ)-spaces and contact metric three-manifolds with ξ strongly normal, are H-contact manifolds. In this paper we study, in dimension three, the stability with respect to the energy of the Reeb vector
field ξ for such special classes of H-contact manifolds (and with respect to the volume when ξ is also minimal) in terms of Webster scalar curvature. Finally, we extend for the Reeb vector field of a compact K-contact (2n+1)-manifold the obtained results for the Hopf vector fields to minimize the energy functional with mean curvature correction.

We consider the problem of passing to the limit in a sequence of nonlinear elliptic problems. The “limit” equation is known in advance, but it has a nonclassical structure; namely, it contains the p-Laplacian with variable exponent p = p(x). Such equations typically exhibit a special kind of nonuniqueness, known as the Lavrent’ev effect, and this is what makes passing to the limit nontrivial. Equations involving the p(x)-Laplacian occur in many problems of mathematical physics. Some applications are included in the present paper. In particular, we suggest an approach to the solvability analysis of a well-known coupled system in non-Newtonian hydrodynamics (“stationary thermo-rheological viscous flows”) without resorting to any smallness conditions. 相似文献
