Sulfide solid electrolytes are promising inorganic solid electrolytes for all‐solid‐state batteries. Despite their high ionic conductivity and desirable mechanical properties, many known sulfide solid electrolytes exhibit poor air stability. The spontaneous hydrolysis reactions of sulfides with moisture in air lead to the release of toxic hydrogen sulfide and materials degradation, hindering large‐scale manufacturing and applications of sulfide‐based solid‐state batteries. In this work, we systematically investigate the hydrolysis and reduction reactions in Li‐ and Na‐containing sulfides and chlorides by applying thermodynamic analyses based on a first principles computation database. We reveal the stability trends among different chemistries and identify the effect of cations, anions, and Li/Na content on moisture stability. Our results identify promising materials systems to simultaneously achieve desirable moisture stability and electrochemical stability, and provide the design principles for the development of air‐stable solid electrolytes.  相似文献

Lithium metal batteries are inspiring renewed interest in the battery community because the most advanced designs of Li-ion batteries could be on the verge of reaching their theoretical specific energy density values. Among the investigated alternative technologies for electrochemical storage, the all-solid-state Li battery concept based on the implementation of dry solid polymer electrolytes appears as a mature technology not only to power full electric vehicles but also to provide solutions for stationary storage applications. With an effective marketing started in 2011, BlueSolutions keeps developing further the so-called lithium metal polymer batteries based on this technology. The present study reports the electrochemical performance of such Li metal batteries involving indigo carmine, a cheap and renewable electroactive non-soluble organic salt, at the positive electrode. Our results demonstrate that this active material was able to reversibly insert two Li at an average potential of ≈2.4 V vs. Li+/Li with however, a relatively poor stability upon cycling. Post-mortem analyses revealed the poisoning of the Li electrode by Na upon ion exchange reaction between the Na countercations of indigo carmine and the conducting salt. The use of thinner positive electrodes led to much better capacity retention while enabling the identification of two successive one-electron plateaus.  相似文献

The deployment of high‐energy‐density lithium‐metal batteries has been greatly impeded by Li dendrite growth and safety concerns originating from flammable liquid electrolytes. Herein, we report a stable quasi‐solid‐state Li metal battery with a deep eutectic solvent (DES)‐based self‐healing polymer (DSP) electrolyte. This electrolyte was fabricated in a facile manner by in situ copolymerization of 2‐(3‐(6‐methyl‐4‐oxo‐1,4‐dihydropyrimidin‐2‐yl)ureido)ethyl methacrylate (UPyMA) and pentaerythritol tetraacrylate (PETEA) monomers in a DES‐based electrolyte containing fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC) as an additive. The well‐designed DSP electrolyte simultaneously possesses non‐flammability, high ionic conductivity and electrochemical stability, and dendrite‐free Li plating. When applied in Li metal batteries with a LiMn2O4 cathode, the DSP electrolyte effectively suppressed manganese dissolution from the cathode and enabled high‐capacity and a long lifespan at room and elevated temperatures.  相似文献

Enabling all‐solid‐state Li‐ion batteries requires solid electrolytes with high Li ionic conductivity and good electrochemical stability. Following recent experimental reports of Li3YCl6 and Li3YBr6 as promising new solid electrolytes, we used first principles computation to investigate the Li‐ion diffusion, electrochemical stability, and interface stability of chloride and bromide materials and elucidated the origin of their high ionic conductivities and good electrochemical stabilities. Chloride and bromide chemistries intrinsically exhibit low migration energy barriers, wide electrochemical windows, and are not constrained to previous design principles for sulfide and oxide Li‐ion conductors, allowing for much greater freedom in structure, chemistry, composition, and Li sublattice for developing fast Li‐ion conductors. Our study highlights chloride and bromide chemistries as a promising new research direction for solid electrolytes with high ionic conductivity and good stability.  相似文献

Lithium–air batteries are promising devices for electrochemical energy storage because of their ultrahigh energy density. However, it is still challenging to achieve practical Li–air batteries because of their severe capacity fading and poor rate capability. Electrolytes are the prime suspects for cell failure. In this Review, we focus on the opportunities and challenges of electrolytes for rechargeable Li–air batteries. A detailed summary of the reaction mechanisms, internal compositions, instability factors, selection criteria, and design ideas of the considered electrolytes is provided to obtain appropriate strategies to meet the battery requirements. In particular, ionic liquid (IL) electrolytes and solid‐state electrolytes show exciting opportunities to control both the high energy density and safety.  相似文献

All‐solid‐state sodium batteries, using solid electrolyte and abundant sodium resources, show great promise for safe, low‐cost, and large‐scale energy storage applications. The exploration of novel solid electrolytes is critical for the room temperature operation of all‐solid‐state Na batteries. An ideal solid electrolyte must have high ionic conductivity, hold outstanding chemical and electrochemical stability, and employ low‐cost synthetic methods. Achieving the combination of these properties is a grand challenge for the synthesis of sulfide‐based solid electrolytes. Design of the solid electrolyte Na3SbS4 is described, realizing excellent air stability and an economic synthesis based on hard and soft acid and base (HSAB) theory. This new solid electrolyte also exhibits a remarkably high ionic conductivity of 1 mS cm?1 at 25 °C and ideal compatibility with a metallic sodium anode.  相似文献

Sulfide‐based superionic conductors with high ionic conductivity have been explored as candidates for solid‐state Li batteries. However, moisture hypersensitivity has made their manufacture complicated and costly and also impeded applications in batteries. Now, a sulfide‐based superionic conductor Li4Cu8Ge3S12 with superior stability was developed based on the hard/soft acid–base theory. The compound is stable in both moist air and aqueous LiOH aqueous solution. The electrochemical stability window was up to 1.5 V. An ionic conductivity of 0.9×10?4 S cm with low activation energy of 0.33 eV was achieved without any optimization. The material features a rigid Cu‐Ge‐S open framework that increases its stability. Meanwhile, the weak bonding between Li+ and the framework promotes ionic conductivity. This work provides a structural configuration in which weak Li bonding in the rigid framework promotes an environment for highly conductive and stable solid‐state electrolytes.  相似文献

Secondary Li?ion batteries have been paid attention to wide‐range applications of power source for the portable electronics, electric vehicle, and electric storage reservoir. Generally, lithium‐ion batteries are comprised of four components including anode, cathode, electrolyte and separator. Although separators do not take part in the electrochemical reactions in a lithium‐ion (Li?ion) battery, they conduct the critical functions of physically separating the positive and negative electrodes to prevent electrical short circuit while permitting the free flow of lithium ions through the liquid electrolyte that fill in their open porous structure. Hence, the separator is directly related to the safety and the power performance of the battery. Among a number of separators developed thus far, polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) porous membrane separators have been the most dominant ones for commercial Li?ion batteries over the decades because of their superior properties such as cost‐efficiency, good mechanical strength and pore structure, electrochemical stability, and thermal shutdown properties. However, there are main issues for vehicular storage, such as nonpolarity, low surface energy and poor thermal stability, although the polyolefin separators have proven dependable in portable applications. Hence, in this review, we decide to provide an overview of the types of polyolefin microporous separators utilized in Li?ion batteries and the methods employed to modify their surface in detail. The remarkable results demonstrate that extraordinary properties can be exhibited by mono‐ and multilayer polyolefin separators if they are modified using suitable methods and materials.  相似文献

Replacement of volatile and combustible electrolytes in conventional lithium batteries is desirable for two reasons: safety concerns and increase in specific energy. In this work we consider the use of an ionic organic plastic crystal material (IOPC), N-ethyl-N-methylpyrrolidinium tetrafluoroborate, [C2mpyr][BF(4)], as a solid-state electrolyte for lithium battery applications. The effect of inclusion of 1 to 33 mol% lithium tetrafluoroborate, LiBF(4), into [C2mpyr][BF(4)] has been investigated over a wide temperature range by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and cycling of full Li|LiFePO(4) batteries. The increases in ionic conductivity by orders of magnitude observed at higher temperature are most likely associated with an increase in Li ion mobility in the highest plastic phase. At concentrations >5 mol% LiBF(4) the ionic conductivity of these solid-state composites is comparable to the ionic conductivity of room temperature ionic liquids. Galvanostatic cycling of Li|Li symmetrical cells showed that the reversibility of the lithium metal redox reaction at the interface of this plastic crystal electrolyte is sufficient for lithium battery applications. For the first time we demonstrate an all solid state lithium battery incorporating solid electrolytes based on IOPC as opposed to conventional flammable organic solvents.  相似文献

Lithium metal is an ideal anode for high‐energy rechargeable batteries at low temperature, yet hindered by the electrochemical instability with the electrolyte. Concentrated electrolytes can improve the oxidative/reductive stability, but encounter high viscosity. Herein, a co‐solvent formulation was designed to resolve the dilemma. By adding electrochemically “inert” dichloromethane (DCM) as a diluent in concentrated ethyl acetate (EA)‐based electrolyte, the co‐solvent electrolyte demonstrated a high ionic conductivity (0.6 mS cm?1), low viscosity (0.35 Pa s), and wide range of potential window (0–4.85 V) at ?70 °C. Spectral characterizations and simulations show these unique properties are associated with the co‐solvation structure, in which high‐concentration clusters of salt in the EA solvent were surrounded by mobile DCM diluent. Overall, this novel electrolyte enabled rechargeable metallic Li battery with high energy (178 Wh kg?1) and power (2877 W kg?1) at ?70 °C.  相似文献

Metal–CO2 batteries have attracted much attention owing to their high energy density and use of greenhouse CO2 waste as the energy source. However, the increasing cost of lithium and the low discharge potential of Na–CO2 batteries create obstacles for practical applications of Li/Na–CO2 batteries. Recently, earth‐abundant potassium ions have attracted considerable interest as fast ionic charge carriers for electrochemical energy storage. Herein, we report the first K–CO2 battery with a carbon‐based metal‐free electrocatalyst. The battery shows a higher theoretical discharge potential (E?=2.48 V) than that of Na–CO2 batteries (E?=2.35 V) and can operate for more than 250 cycles (1500 h) with a cutoff capacity of 300 mA h g?1. Combined DFT calculations and experimental observations revealed a reaction mechanism involving the reversible formation and decomposition of P121/c1‐type K2CO3 at the efficient carbon‐based catalyst.  相似文献

全固态电池因其较高的安全性和能量密度而成为下一代电动汽车和智能电网用储能器件的重点研究方向之一。开发具有高室温锂离子电导率、化学/电化学稳定性优异、对电极材料兼容性优异等特点的固态电解质材料是推动全固态电池发展的重要研究课题之一。硫化物电解质因其相对较高的室温电导率(~10−3 S∙cm−1)、较低的电解质/电极固-固界面阻抗等优点而在众多无机固体电解质材料中成为研究热点。本文基于作者多年研究成果和当前国内外发表的相关工作,从电解质的结构、离子传导、合成、综合性能改善及在全固态电池中的应用等方面系统总结了锂硫银锗矿固态电解质材料研究,并分析了该类电解质面临的问题和挑战,最后探讨了其未来可能的研究方向和发展趋势。  相似文献

The role of B(CN)(4)(-) (Bison) as a component of battery electrolytes is addressed by investigating the ionic conductivity and phase behaviour of ionic liquids (ILs), ion association mechanisms, and the electrochemical stability and cycling properties of LiBison based electrochemical cells. For C(4)mpyrBison and C(2)mimBison ILs, and mixtures thereof, high ionic conductivities (3.4 ≤σ(ion)≤ 18 mS cm(-1)) are measured, which together with the glass transition temperatures (-80 ≤T(g)≤-76 °C) are found to shift systematically for most compositions. Unfortunately, poor solubility of LiBison in these ILs hinders their use as solvents for lithium salts, although good NaBison solubility offers an alternative application in Na(+) conducting electrolytes. The poor IL solubility of LiBison is predicted to be a result of a preferred monodentate ion association, according to first principles modelling, supported by Raman spectroscopy. The solubility is much improved in strongly Li(+) coordinating oligomers, for example polyethylene glycol dimethyl ether (PEGDME), with the practical performance tested in electrochemical cells. The electrolyte is found to be stable in Li/LiFePO(4) coin cells up to 4 V vs. Li and shows promising cycling performance, with a capacity retention of 99% over 22 cycles.  相似文献

对化石能源依赖所造成的能源安全和环境污染等问题限制了人类社会的可持续发展。 Li-CO2电池能量密度高、原材料成本低廉且结构简单,因而被认为是开发和利用可再生清洁能源的有力技术,在住宅能量存储、电动汽车驱动和智能电网等领域具备良好的应用前景。此外, CO2等温室气体的大量排放是全球变暖的主要原因, Li-CO2电池放电时可将空气中的 CO2还原固定,生成的碳材料可用作燃料和化工原料,在资源利用化上提供了新途径。 Li-CO2电池是建立在锂-空气电池的基础上。相比大气中的其他成分, H2O与 CO2对该电池的影响很大。防水膜可以减少水的影响;而在放电过程中, CO2的存在会生成 Li2CO3, Li2CO3是可以分解的。由此可见, CO2在可充放的锂电池中作为正极活性成分储能,从而被利用起来。目前 Li-CO2电池至少面临三个问题:(1)电池充放电的机理尚不完全清楚,并且以 O2和 CO2混合气为活性气体的机理与以纯 CO2为活性气体的机理是有差别的, Li2CO3的生成与分解的机制仍在探索中;(2)电解液的稳定性;(3)寻找高效的正极催化剂材料。
  本文介绍了 Li-CO2电池的发展历程,讨论了 Li-CO2电池的充放电机理、电解液的影响以及正极催化材料的选取等。综述了活性气体为纯 CO2和 CO2-O2混合气时机理的差别,以及 CO2/O2混合比对电池性能的影响。选取电解液应考虑其粘度和介电性。高效能的正极催化材料大多具有高导电性、多孔结构和大的比表面积等特点。而温度也是影响 Li-CO2电池性能的因素之一。虽然 Li-CO2电池的概念相对较新,但可实现 CO2在能源储存与转化领域中的应用,并为 Li-O2电池向锂空气电池飞跃提供了重要参考。本文以如何提高正极材料的催化性能和 Li2CO3的生成和分解机理为重点,总结了正极材料所具有的导电性、比表面积、特殊结构等特点,以及相关机理。  相似文献

To promote the development of solid‐state batteries, polymer‐, oxide‐, and sulfide‐based solid‐state electrolytes (SSEs) have been extensively investigated. However, the disadvantages of these SSEs, such as high‐temperature sintering of oxides, air instability of sulfides, and narrow electrochemical windows of polymers electrolytes, significantly hinder their practical application. Therefore, developing SSEs that have a high ionic conductivity (>10?3 S cm?1), good air stability, wide electrochemical window, excellent electrode interface stability, low‐cost mass production is required. Herein we report a halide Li+ superionic conductor, Li3InCl6, that can be synthesized in water. Most importantly, the as‐synthesized Li3InCl6 shows a high ionic conductivity of 2.04×10?3 S cm?1 at 25 °C. Furthermore, the ionic conductivity can be recovered after dissolution in water. Combined with a LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 cathode, the solid‐state Li battery shows good cycling stability.  相似文献

Interest in all‐solid‐state Li‐ion batteries (LIBs) using non‐flammable Li‐conducting ceramics as solid electrolytes has increased, as safe and robust batteries are urgently desired as power sources for (hybrid) electric vehicles. However, the low Li‐ion conductivities of ceramics have hindered all‐solid‐state LIB commercialization; many researchers have attempted to develop fast Li‐ion conductors. We introduce two efficient high‐throughput computational approaches for materials exploration: (i) exhaustive search and (ii) informatics‐aided prediction. For demonstration, ~400 Li‐ and Zn‐containing oxide (Li?Zn?X?O) compounds of varied crystal structures are extracted from Materials Project datasets. We calculate the migration energies for Li‐ion conduction and the phase stabilities (decomposition energies) of these materials by simulation and apply Bayesian optimization to determine the material with the highest ionic conductivity. The results show much greater efficiency than a random search algorithm.  相似文献

Lithium-sulfur (Li−S) batteries, possessing excellent theoretical capacities, low cost and nontoxicity, are one of the most promising energy storage battery systems. However, poor conductivity of elemental S and the “shuttle effect” of lithium polysulfides hinder the commercialization of Li−S batteries. These problems are closely related to the interface problems between the cathodes, separators/electrolytes and anodes. The review focuses on interface issues for advanced separators/electrolytes based on nanomaterials in Li−S batteries. In the liquid electrolyte systems, electrolytes/separators and electrodes system can be decorated by nano materials coating for separators and electrospinning nanofiber separators. And, interface of anodes and electrolytes/separators can be modified by nano surface coating, nano composite metal lithium and lithium nano alloy, while the interface between cathodes and electrolytes/separators is designed by nano metal sulfide, nanocarbon-based and other nano materials. In all solid-state electrolyte systems, the focus is to increase the ionic conductivity of the solid electrolytes and reduce the resistance in the cathode/polymer electrolyte and Li/electrolyte interfaces through using nanomaterials. The basic mechanism of these interface problems and the corresponding electrochemical performance are discussed. Based on the most critical factors of the interfaces, we provide some insights on nanomaterials in high-performance liquid or state Li−S batteries in the future.  相似文献

Development of rechargeable lithium metal battery (LMB) remains a challenge because of uneven lithium deposition during repeated cycles of charge and discharge. Ionic liquids have received intensive scientific interest as electrolytes because of their exceptional thermal and electrochemical stabilities. Ionic liquid and ionic‐liquid–nanoparticle hybrid electrolytes based on 1‐methy‐3‐propylimidazolium (IM) and 1‐methy‐3‐propylpiperidinium (PP) have been synthesized and their ionic conductivity, electrochemical stability, mechanical properties, and ability to promote stable Li electrodeposition investigated. PP‐based electrolytes were found to be more conductive and substantially more efficient in suppressing dendrite formation on cycled lithium anodes; as little as 11 wt % PP‐IL in a PC‐LiTFSI host produces more than a ten‐fold increase in cell lifetime. Both PP‐ and IM‐based nanoparticle hybrid electrolytes provide up to 10 000‐fold improvements in cell lifetime than anticipated based on their mechanical modulus alone. Galvanostatic cycling measurements in Li/Li4Ti5O12 half cells using IL–nanoparticle hybrid electrolytes reveal more than 500 cycles of trouble‐free operation and enhanced rate capability.  相似文献

合成了五种新的1-烷基-2,3-二甲基咪唑二(三氟甲基磺酰)亚胺离子液体(alkyl-DMimTFSI).以离子液体作为Li/LiFeO4电池电解液,分别考察不同烷基(正丁基、正戊基、正辛基、异辛基和正癸基)对电解液理化性质、界面性质和电池行为的影响.结果表明离子液体的电化学窗口都可以达到5.6V(-0.4~5.2Vvs.Li+/Li),显示它们具有较好的电化学稳定性.加入碳酸亚乙烯酯作为添加剂后,离子液体电解液在Li负极形成稳定的固体电解质相界面膜(SEI),从而提高了Li负极的稳定性,保护了Li片不受腐蚀.电化学阻抗和循环伏安分析进一步揭示LiFeO4正极与离子液体电解液也有良好的兼容性.此外,研究还表明离子液体中烷基种类严重影响它们的电池行为.采用butyl-DMimTFSI和amyl-DMimTFSI电解液体系的电池充放电容量和可逆性明显优于另外三种离子液体,它们的首次放电容量分别达到145和152.6mAh/g,并表现出良好的充放电循环性能.因粘度最大,采用isooctyl-DMimTFSI电解液的电池首次放电容量仅为8.3mAh/g,但添加碳酸丙烯酯(质量比1∶1)稀释后首次放电容量上升至132.4mAh/g.  相似文献
