Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 (PZT) nanocrystals and transparent polycarbonate (PC) composite thin films with useful properties for ferroelectric, piezoelectric and electro-optic devices were prepared by a spin-coating technique. Ultra-fine PZT (∼40–50 nm) nanocrystals with pure perovskite tetragonal phase were synthesized by a hydrothermal method. The structure and morphology of the composite thin films were studied by means of X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. To obtain the optimum electro-optic properties of poled composite films, the poling condition under an external electric field was optimized through the dielectric properties of PZT and PC polymer and effective field intensity theory. The electro-optic coefficient of the poled PZT/PC composite film is estimated to be 30.5 pm/V. The transparency spectra were measured and the optical band gaps of the unpoled, poled at 145 °C and poled at 165 °C composite thin films are estimated to be 4.26 eV, 4.21 eV and 4.18 eV, respectively. The measured dielectric constants of PZT/PC are in good agreement with the calculated values for the composite with a very small PZT volume fraction, based on the Onsager effective-field theory. This offers a reliable and indirect way to predict the dielectric constant of nanocrystals. PACS 81.40.Tv; 78.66.Sq; 78.66.Vs 相似文献

Au-core CdS-shell composite nanoparticles were synthesized by a direct self-assembly process and integrated into BaTiO3 thin films. Characterization by transmission electron microscopy showed that the average diameter of these composite nanoparticles
was about 8 nm. Using the femtosecond time-resolved optical Kerr effect method, we investigated the third-order nonlinear
optical response of the Au@CdS nanoparticles embedded in the BaTiO3 thin films at a wavelength of 800 nm. An ultrafast nonlinear response and a large effective third-order nonlinear susceptibility
of χ(3)=7.7×10-11 esu were observed. We attributed the enhancement of the third-order optical nonlinearity to a localized electric field effect
originating from the core-shell structure under off-surface-plasmon resonance conditions.

9/2 transitions in diode-end-pumped Nd:YAG lasers at 946 nm and 938.5 nm is reported. 7.0-W continuous-wave output power at 946 nm
and 3.9 W at 938.5 nm have been obtained. An analytical model has been developed for the quasi-three-level laser including
the influence of energy-transfer upconversion. Frequency doubling of these transitions in periodically poled KTP generated
blue light at 473 nm and 469 nm. Both single-pass extra-cavity as well as intracavity schemes have been investigated.

Cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy is explained in terms of the transmission function of a rapidly swept interferometer,
and the integrated transmission is shown to be proportional to the cavity ringdown time. The technique is demonstrated on
the b1Σg
+-X3Σg
- (1,0) band in molecular oxygen at 687 nm using a tunable diode laser and a relative-ly high-Q optical cavity (finesse ≈4000).
A detection limit of 3×10-8 cm-1 s1/2 is achieved for a 0.8 cm-1 scanning range.

Ferroelectric Bi3.25La0.75Ti3O12 (BLT) thin films have been grown on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates by chemical solution methods. X-ray diffraction analysis shows that BLT thin films are polycrystalline with
(171)-preferential orientation. Atomic force microscopy investigation shows that they have large grains about 120 nm in size.
A Pt/BLT/Pt capacitor has been fabricated and showed excellent ferroelectricity, with a remnant polarization and coercive
field of 24 μC/cm2 and 116 kV/cm, respectively. The capacitor shows no polarization fatigue up to 109 switching cycles. The optical constants (n,k) of the BLT thin films in the wavelength range 0.35–1.7 μm were obtained by
spectroscopic ellipsometry measurements, and the band-gap energy was found to be about 3.25 eV.

We present the first photoacoustic spectrometer for gas sensing employing both the fundamental and the frequency-doubled radiation
of a continuously tunable high-pressure CO2 laser with room temperature operation. A quasi-phase-matched diffusion-bonded GaAs crystal is used in the system for second-harmonic
generation. A pulsed photoacoustic detection scheme with a non-resonant cell, equipped with an 80-microphone array, is employed.
The wide continuous tuning range in the fundamental (9.2–10.7 μm) and the frequency-doubled (4.6–5.35 μm) regimes, together
with the narrow linewidth of 540 MHz (0.018 cm-1) for the 10-μm region and of 1050 MHz (0.0315 cm-1) for the 5-μm region, allow the measurement of gas mixtures, individual species and isotope discrimination. This is illustrated
with measurements on NO and CO2. The measured isotope ratio 15
NO/14
NO=(3.58±0.55)×10-3 agrees well with the literature (3.700×10-3) and demonstrates the good selectivity of the system.

A high-sensitivity in situ optical diagnostic technique for laser cleaning of transparent substrates

A differential optical transmission technique has been used to monitor in situ the efficiency of laser cleaning for the removal
of sub-micrometer-sized particles on substrates transparent at the monitoring wavelength. This technique has been applied
to the removal of sub-micrometer polystyrene particles on polyimide substrates using laser pulses of 30 ps duration at 292 nm
while probing the material transmission at 633 nm. The sensitivity achieved -1/104 for the transmission changes induced upon single-pulse laser exposure – allows us to monitor the removal of just a few sub-micron-sized
particles from the probed region inside the irradiated area.

The sampling of high-frequency signals using poled electro-optic polymer films as electro-optic probe tips has been demonstrated
for the first time. The electro-optic polymer, which was spin coated onto a high-reflectivity glass substrate, was corona
poled; thus an asymmetric Fabry–Perot microcavity was formed, based on the difference between the polymer reflectivity and
that of high-reflectivity glass. This converts phase modulation to amplitude modulation, so only one laser beam is needed
in this system. The sampling technique has been analyzed by multiple reflection and index ellipsoid methods. A 1.2 GHz microwave
signal propagating on a coplanar waveguide transmission line has been sampled, and a voltage sensitivity of about 0.5 mV/ was obtained.

The development of a compact tunable mid-IR laser system at 3.5 μm for quantitative airborne spectroscopic trace gas absorption
measurements is reported. The mid-IR laser system is based on difference frequency generation (DFG) in periodically poled
LiNbO3 and utilizes optical fiber amplified near-IR diode and fiber lasers as pump sources operating at 1083 nm and 1562 nm, respectively.
This paper describes the optical sensor architecture, performance characteristics of individual pump lasers and DFG, as well
as its application to wavelength modulation spectroscopy employing an astigmatic Herriott multi-pass gas absorption cell.
This compact system permits detection of formaldehyde with a minimal detectable concentration (1σ replicate precision) of
74 parts-per-trillion by volume (pptv) for 1 min of averaging time and was achieved using calibrated gas standards, zero air
background and rapid dual-beam subtraction. This corresponds to a pathlength-normalized replicate fractional absorption sensitivity
of 2.5×10-10 cm-1.

Single crystals of monoclinic BaY2F8 and tetragonal LiYF4 codoped with the same Tm3+ and Ho3+ concentrations were successfully grown by the Czochralski method. Here we present a comparative analysis of the two hosts
including spectroscopic characterization and cw diode-pumped laser experiments in the 2-μm wavelength region at room temperature.
The main differences between the two hosts are a lower slope efficiency associated with a much wider tuning range (2005–2094 nm)
of BaY2F8 with respect to LiYF4.

We report the reversible micro-structuring of a synthetic rubber polymer (cis1,4-polybutadiene (PB)) by femtosecond laser
illumination. Visco-elastic relaxation of the optically damaged region was observed. The recovery time, typically 102–104 ms, can be varied by changing the irradiation pulse energy. Multi-shot-induced damage recovers on the much longer scale of
101–102 s. It was found that the doping of PB by 4 wt. % of pentazadiene ([4-NO2]–phenyl–N=N–N(C3H7)–N=N–phenyl–[4-NO2]) reduces the threshold of light-induced photo-modification by 20%. This is explained by photo-induced (homolytic) cleavage
of the pentazadiene bonds and formation of gaseous N2, which facilitates material failure at the irradiated spot.
The recovery of optical transmission can be applied to optical memory, optical and micro-mechanical applications. The underlying
mechanism of the phenomenon is discussed in terms of anelastic α- and β-relaxation (polymer backbone and chains/coils relaxation,
respectively).

The structure and magnetic properties of Fe-N and Fe-Ti-N films have been studied as a function of annealing temperature Ta with a transmission electron microscope and a vibrating sample magnetometer. The as-prepared Fe-N films consist of the γ′-Fe4N and α′′-Fe16N2 phases, and the Fe-Ti-N films are composed of the γ′-Fe4N, α′′-Fe16N2, and TiN phases. The structural changes with annealing temperature in the Fe-N films are distinct. The α′′-Fe16N2 decomposes into α+γ′ phases in the Fe-N film annealed at about 300 °C, and it disappears in the film annealed at 350 °C. Annealing of the Fe-Ti-N
films shows no structural changes between room temperature (RT) and 500 °C. The saturation magnetization 4πMS and coercivity Hc of the Fe-N films change drastically with the annealing temperature Ta, whereas those of the Fe-Ti-N films do not change with Ta up to 500 °C. These results indicate that the additon of Ti may improve the thermal stability of Fe-N films.

β-Ga2O3 nanowires have been synthesized using Ga metal and H2O vapor at 800 °C in the presence of Ni catalyst on the substrate. Remarkable reduction of the diameter and increase of the
length of the Ga2O3 nanowires are achieved by separation of Ga metal and H2O vapor before they reach the substrate. Transmission electron microscopy analyses indicate that the β-Ga2O3 nanowires possess a single-crystalline structure. Photoluminescence measurements show two broad emission bands centered at
290 nm and 390 nm at room temperature.

Highly epitaxial Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 (BST) ferroelectric thin films were fabricated on (001) MgOsubstrates by pulsed laser deposition. The nonlinear optical absorption
coefficients (β) and refraction indices (γ) of the BST thin films on (001) MgO substrates were investigated using the single
beam Z-scan technique with femtosecond laser pulses at the wavelengths of 790 nm and 395 nm, respectively, at room temperature.
The nonlinear absorption coefficients of BST thin films were measured to be ∼0.087 cm/GW and ∼0.77 cm/GW at 790 nm and 395 nm,
respectively. The nonlinear refraction indices of BST thin films exhibit a strong dispersion from a positive value of 6.1×10-5 cm2/GW at 790 nm to a negative value of -4.0×10-5 cm2/GW at 395 nm near band gap. The dispersion of γ is roughly consistent with Sheik-Bahae’s theory for the bound electronic
nonlinear refraction resulting from the two-photon resonance. These results show that the BST film is a promising material
as a candidate for nonlinear optical applications.

The polyetherketone (PEK-c) guest–host polymer thin films doped with disperse red 13 were prepared by spin-coating method. The corona poling condition was optimized by the poling profiles. The polymer films were poled by corona-onset poling at elevated temperature, and the corona poling setup includes a grid voltage making the surface-charge distribution uniform. The linear electro-optic coefficients of the poled polymer films have been determined at λ=632.8 nm by using a new simple interferometric technique, which is based on compensating the change of the optical length due to the electro-optic effect of the poled polymer film by the anti-piezoelectric effect of a quartz crystal. 相似文献

The influence of the ‘storage time’ τs on the threshold fluence φcl and the efficiency in dry laser cleaning is investigated. τs denotes the time between the deposition of particles and the cleaning. As a model system we employed silica spheres with
diameters of 500 nm and 1500 nm on commercial silicon wafers and single-pulse KrF excimer laser radiation (τFWHM=28 ns). For the 1500-nm silica spheres, φcl was found to increase from about 65 mJ/cm2 to 125 mJ/cm2 for storage times of 4 h and 362 h, respectively. For 500-nm silica spheres the increase in the threshold fluence was less
than 20% for storage times up to 386 h.

Heavy metal oxide thin films of the ternary system Nb2O5–GeO2–PbO have been prepared by pulsed laser deposition in an O2 environment from either glassy or crystalline bulk samples. The range of ([Pb]+[Nb]) content in which the films are optically
homogeneous and transparent is much broader (0.5–1.0) than that of the bulk samples considered in the present work (0.55–0.62).
The imaginary part of the refractive index is very low in all cases (k<10-3), whereas the real part increases linearly with the ([Pb]+[Nb]) content up to values as high as 2.35. The optical energy
gap has been found to be strongly dependent on [Pb], whereas it is almost independent of [Nb]. This dependence is discussed
in terms of the role of Pb and Nb as network modifiers or formers.

Nd: KGd(WO4)2 thin films were deposited by KrF laser ablation on MgO, YAP, YAG and Si substrates at temperatures up to 800 °C. Film crystallinity,
morphology, stoichiometry (WDX, RBS and PIXE), excitation spectra, fluorescence, refractive index and waveguiding properties
were studied in connection with deposition conditions. The best films were crystalline and exhibited losses of approximately
5 dB cm-1 at a wavelength of 633 nm.
