We study a non-linear regression model with functional data as inputs and scalar response. We propose a pointwise estimate of the regression function that maps a Hilbert space onto the real line by a local linear method and derive its asymptotic mean square error. Computations involve a linear inverse problem as well as a representation of the small ball probability of the data and are based on recent advances in this area.  相似文献

Distributions with a location parameter are described whose optimal equivariant estimate does not depend on the choice of a symmetrical loss function. This article derives the weak estimate of the first type for pentahedral finite elements over uniform partitions of the domain for the Poisson equation. The estimate for the W1,1‐seminorm of the discrete derivative Green's function is also given. It is a known fact that some estimators of smooth distribution functions can outperform the empirical distribution function in terms of asymptotic (integrated) mean-squared error. In this paper, we show that this is also true of Bernstein polynomial estimators of distribution functions associated with densities that are supported on a closed interval. Specifically, we introduce a higher order expansion for the asymptotic (integrated) mean-squared error of Bernstein estimators of distribution functions and examine the relative deficiency of the empirical distribution function with respect to these estimators. Finally, we also establish the (pointwise) asymptotic normality of these estimators and show that they have highly advantageous boundary properties, including the absence of boundary bias.  相似文献

Given a self-similar Dirichlet form on a self-similar set, we first give an estimate on the asymptotic order of the associated eigenvalue counting function in terms of a ‘geometric counting function’ defined through a family of coverings of the self-similar set naturally associated with the Dirichlet space. Secondly, under (sub-)Gaussian heat kernel upper bound, we prove a detailed short time asymptotic behavior of the partition function, which is the Laplace-Stieltjes transform of the eigenvalue counting function associated with the Dirichlet form. This result can be applicable to a class of infinitely ramified self-similar sets including generalized Sierpinski carpets, and is an extension of the result given recently by B.M. Hambly for the Brownian motion on generalized Sierpinski carpets. Moreover, we also provide a sharp remainder estimate for the short time asymptotic behavior of the partition function.  相似文献

Some relationships between pointwise and weak convergence of a sequence of Henstock integrable functions are studied, In particular it is provided an example of a sequence of Henstock integrable functions whose pointwise limit is different from the weak one. By introducing an asymptotic version of the Henstock equiintegrability notion it is given a necessary and sufficient condition in order that a pointwisely convergent sequence of Henstock integrable functions is weakly convergent to its pointwise limit.  相似文献

The objective of this note is to give an estimate for a positive perturbed semigroup in terms of the free one. Here we consider perturbation by a potential and the estimate is given by a pointwise Hölder inequality. The Voronovskaya theorem which is one of the most important pointwise convergence results in the theory of approximation by linear positive operators (l.p.o) is considered in quantitative form. Most of the results presented in this paper mainly depend on the Taylor’s formula for the functions belonging to weighted spaces. We first obtain an estimate for the remainder of Taylor’s formula and by this estimate we give the Voronovskaya theorem in quantitative form for a class of sequences of l.p.o. The Grüss type approximation theorem and the Grüss-Voronovskaya-type theorem in quantitative form are obtained as well. We also give the Voronovskaya type results for the difference of l.p.o acting on weighted spaces. All results are also given for well-known operators, Szasz-Mirakyan and Baskakov operators as illustrative examples. Our results being Voronovskaya-type either describe the rate of pointwise convergence or present the error of approximation simultaneously.  相似文献

In this paper, a generalization of $q$-Gamma operators based on the concept of $q$-integer is introduced. We investigate the moments and central moments of the operators by computation, obtain a local approximation theorem and get the pointwise convergence rate theorem and also obtain a weighted approximation theorem. We study the frequency polygon investigated by Scott (J Am Stat Assoc 80: 348–354, 1985) as a nonparametric density estimate for a continuous and stationary real random field \({\left( X_{\mathbf{t}},\mathbf{t}\in\mathbb{R}^{N}\right)}\). We establish the asymptotic expressions for the integrated pointwise squared bias and the integrated pointwise squared variance of the estimate when the field is observed over a rectangular domain of \({\mathbb{R}^{N}}\). Under mild mixing conditions, we show that the estimate achieves the same rate of convergence to zero of the integrated mean squared error as kernel estimators and it can also attain the optimal uniform strong rate of convergence \({\left(\widehat{\mathbf{T}}^{-1} \log \widehat{\mathbf{T}}\right)^{1/3}}\) for appropriate choices of the bin widths.  相似文献

For a variable coefficient elliptic boundary value problem in three dimensions, using the properties of the bubble function and the element cancelation technique, we derive the weak estimate of the first type for tetrahedral quadratic elements. In addition, the estimate for the W1,1‐seminorm of the discrete derivative Green's function is also given. The classical estimate of Bieberbach that ?a 2?≤2 for a given univalent function ?(z)=z+a 2 z 2+… in the classS leads to the best possible pointwise estimates of the ratio ?"(z)/?'(z) for ?∈S, first obtained by K?be and Bieberbach. For the corresponding class Σ of univalent functions in the exterior disk, Goluzin found in 1943 by variational methods the corresponding best possible pointwise estimates of ?"(z)/?'(z) for ψ∈Σ. It was perhaps surprising that this time, the expressions involve elliptic integrals. Here, we obtain an area-type theorem which has Goluzin's pointwise estimate as a corollary. This shows that Goluzin's estimate, like the K?be-Bieberbach estimate, is firmly rooted in areabased methods. The appearance of elliptic integrals finds a natural explanation: they arise because a certain associated covering surface of the Riemann sphere is a torus.  相似文献

This paper investigates double sampling series derivatives for bivariate functions defined on R2 that are in the Bernstein space. For this sampling series, we estimate some of the pointwise and uniform bounds when the function satisfies some decay conditions. The truncated series of this formula allow us to approximate any order of partial derivatives for function from Bernstein space using only a finite number of samples from the function itself. This sampling formula will be useful in the approximation theory and its applications, especially after having the truncation error well-established. Examples with tables and figures are given at the end of the paper to illustrate the advantages of this formula.  相似文献
