Let X be a finite connected CW-complex and ρ: a regular covering space with free abelian covering transformation group. For ξ ∈ H1 (Xℝ) we define the notion of ξ-contractibility of X. This notion is closely related to the vanishing of the Novikov homology of the pair (X,ξ). We show that finite domination of is equivalent to X being ξ-contractible for every nonzero ξ with ρ*ξ =0  ∈ H1(; ℝ). If M is a closed connected smooth manifold the condition that M is ξ-contractible is necessary for the existence of a nonsingular closed 1-form representing ξ. Also ξ-contractibility guarantees the definition of the Latour obstruction τL(M,ξ) whose vanishing is then sufficient for the existence of a nonsingular closed 1-form provided  dim M≥6. Now if ρ: is a finitely dominated regular ℤk-covering space we get that τL(M,ξ) is defined for every nonzero ξ with ρ*ξ=0 and the vanishing of one such obstruction implies the vanishing of all such τL(M,ξ).  相似文献

LetX(-ϱB m ×C n be a compact set over the unit sphere ϱB m such that for eachz∈ϱB m the fiberX z ={ω∈C n ;(z, ω)∈X} is the closure of a completely circled pseudoconvex domain inC n . The polynomial hull ofX is described in terms of the Perron-Bremermann function for the homogeneous defining function ofX. Moreover, for each point (z 0,w 0)∈Int there exists a smooth up to the boundary analytic discF:Δ→B m ×C n with the boundary inX such thatF(0)=(z 0,w 0). Consider the Cauchy problem ∂u(x, t)/∂t = ℋu(x, t) (x∈ℤd, t≥ 0) with initial condition u(x, 0) ≡ 1 and with ℋ the Anderson Hamiltonian ℋ = κΔ + ξ. Here Δ is the discrete Laplacian, κ∈ (0, ∞) is a diffusion constant, and ξ = {ξ(x): x∈ℤ d } is an i.i.d.random field taking values in ℝ. G?rtner and Molchanov (1990) have shown that if the law of ξ(0) is nondegenerate, then the solution u is asymptotically intermittent. In the present paper we study the structure of the intermittent peaks for the special case where the law of ξ(0) is (in the vicinity of) the double exponential Prob(ξ(0) > s) = exp[−e s ] (s∈ℝ). Here θ∈ (0, ∞) is a parameter that can be thought of as measuring the degree of disorder in the ξ-field. Our main result is that, for fixed x, y∈ℤ d and t→∈, the correlation coefficient of u(x, t) and u(y, t) converges to ∥w ρ−2 ℓ2Σz ∈ℤd w ρ(x+z)w ρ(y+z). In this expression, ρ = θ/κ while w ρ:ℤd→ℝ+ is given by w ρ = (v ρ) d with v ρ: ℤ→ℝ+ the unique centered ground state (i.e., the solution in ℓ2(ℤ) with minimal l 2-norm) of the 1-dimensional nonlinear equation Δv + 2ρv log v = 0. The uniqueness of the ground state is actually proved only for large ρ, but is conjectured to hold for any ρ∈ (0, ∞). empty It turns out that if the right tail of the law of ξ(0) is thicker (or thinner) than the double exponential, then the correlation coefficient of u(x, t) and u(y, t) converges to δ x, y (resp.the constant function 1). Thus, the double exponential family is the critical class exhibiting a nondegenerate correlation structure. Received: 5 March 1997 / Revised version: 21 September 1998  相似文献

For fixed 1≦p<∞ theL p-semi-norms onR n are identified with positive linear functionals on the closed linear subspace ofC(R n ) spanned by the functions |<ξ, ·>| p , ξ∈R n . For every positive linear functional σ, on that space, the function Φσ:R n R given by Φσ is anL p-semi-norm and the mapping σ→Φσ is 1-1 and onto. The closed linear span of |<ξ, ·>| p , ξ∈R n is the space of all even continuous functions that are homogeneous of degreep, ifp is not an even integer and is the space of all homogeneous polynomials of degreep whenp is an even integer. This representation is used to prove that there is no finite list of norm inequalities that characterizes linear isometric embeddability, in anyL p unlessp=2. Let X represent either the space C[-1,1] L p (α,β) (w), 1 ≦ p < ∞ on [-1, 1]. Then Xare Banach spaces under the sup or the p norms, respectively. We prove that there exists a normalized Banach subspace X 1 αβ of Xsuch that every f ∈ X 1 αβ can be represented by a linear combination of Jacobi polynomials to any degree of accuracy. Our method to prove such an approximation problem is Fourier–Jacobi analysis based on the convergence of Fourier–Jacobi expansions. Perturbations by analytic discs along generating CR-submanifolds of Cn are considered. In the case all partial indices of a closed pathp in a generating CR-fibration {M(ξ)}ξ∈∂D are greater or equal to −1 we can completely parametrize all small holomorphic perturbations of the pathp along the fibration {M(ξ)}ξ∈∂D . In this case we also study the geometry of perturbations by analytic discs and their relation to the conormal bundle of the fibration.  相似文献

We study the asymptotic behavior of a set of random vectors ξi, i = 1,..., m, whose coordinates are independent and identically distributed in a space of infinitely increasing dimension. We investigate the asymptotics of the distribution of the random vectors, the consistency of the sets M m(n) = ξ1,..., ξm and X nλ = x ∈ X n: ρ(x) ≤ λn, and the mutual location of pairs of vectors. Let T = (T(t))t≥0 be a bounded C-regularized semigroup generated by A on a Banach space X and R(C) be dense in X. We show that if there is a dense subspace Y of X such that for every x ∈ Y, σu(A, Cx), the set of all points λ ∈ iR to which (λ - A)^-1 Cx can not be extended holomorphically, is at most countable and σr(A) N iR = Ф, then T is stable. A stability result for the case of R(C) being non-dense is also given. Our results generalize the work on the stability of strongly continuous senfigroups.  相似文献

Denote by T(X) the semigroup of full transformations on a set X. For εT(X), the centralizer of ε is a subsemigroup of T(X) defined by C(ε)={αT(X):αε=εα}. It is well known that C(id X )=T(X) is a regular semigroup. By a theorem proved by J.M. Howie in 1966, we know that if X is finite, then the subsemigroup generated by the idempotents of C(id X ) contains all non-invertible transformations in C(id X ).  相似文献

Summary We consider a model of random walk on ℤν, ν≥2, in a dynamical random environment described by a field ξ={ξ t (x): (t,x)∈ℤν+1}. The random walk transition probabilities are taken as P(X t +1= y|X t = x t =η) =P 0( yx)+ c(yx;η(x)). We assume that the variables {ξ t (x):(t,x) ∈ℤν+1} are i.i.d., that both P 0(u) and c(u;s) are finite range in u, and that the random term c(u;·) is small and with zero average. We prove that the C.L.T. holds almost-surely, with the same parameters as for P 0, for all ν≥2. For ν≥3 there is a finite random (i.e., dependent on ξ) correction to the average of X t , and there is a corresponding random correction of order to the C.L.T.. For ν≥5 there is a finite random correction to the covariance matrix of X t and a corresponding correction of order to the C.L.T.. Proofs are based on some new L p estimates for a class of functionals of the field. Received: 4 January 1996/In revised form: 26 May 1997  相似文献

The stochastic equation dX t =dS t +a(t,X t )dt, t≥0, is considered where S is a one-dimensional Levy process with the characteristic exponent ψ(ξ),ξ∈ℝ. We prove the existence of (weak) solutions for a bounded, measurable coefficient a and any initial value X 0=x 0∈ℝ when (ℛeψ(ξ))−1=o(|ξ|−1) as |ξ|→∞. These conditions coincide with those found by Tanaka, Tsuchiya and Watanabe (J. Math. Kyoto Univ. 14(1), 73–92, 1974) in the case of a(t,x)=a(x). Our approach is based on Krylov’s estimates for Levy processes with time-dependent drift. Some variants of those estimates are derived in this note.  相似文献

Given a stationary multidimensional spatial process (Z i = (X i , Y i ) ∈ ℝ d × ℝ, i ∈ ℤ N ), we investigate a kernel estimate of the spatial conditional quantile function of the response variable Y i given the explicative variable X i . Almost complete convergence and consistency in L 2r norm (r ∈ ℕ*) of the kernel estimate are obtained when the sample considered is an α-mixing sequence.  相似文献

A concentrated (ξ, m) almost monotone measure inR n is a Radon measure Φ satisfying the two following conditions: (1) Θ m (Φ,x)≥1 for every x ∈spt (Φ) and (2) for everyxR n the ratioexp [ξ(r)]r−mΦ(B(x,r)) is increasing as a function of r>0. Here ξ is an increasing function such thatlim r→0-ξ(r)=0. We prove that there is a relatively open dense setReg (Φ) ∋spt (Φ) such that at each x∈Reg(Φ) the support of Φ has the following regularity property: given ε>0 and λ>0 there is an m dimensional spaceWR n and a λ-Lipschitz function f from x+W into x+W so that (100-ε)% ofspt(Φ) ∩B (x, r) coincides with the graph of f, at some scale r>0 depending on x, ε, and λ.  相似文献

It is well known that in the case of the Luxemburg normE Φ (resp.h Φ) is anM ideal inL Φ (resp.l Φ), see [1], [9], [15] and [6]; [17] and [18]. It is proved in this paper that in the case of the Orlicz normE Φ (resph Φ) is anM-ideal inL Φ (resp.l Φ) iff Φ satisfies the suitable Δ2 or Φ*(a(Φ*)), where a(Φ*) is linear on the interval [0,u]} and Φ* denotes the function complementary to Φ in the sense of Young. It is also proved that any linear continuous regular (i.e. order continuous) functional ξυ overE Φ (resp.h Φ) generated byv∈ L(h Φ*) (resp.v∈ L(h Φ*)) which attains its norm on the unit sphereS(E Φ) (resp.S(h Φ)), has a unique norm-preserving extension toL Φ (resp.l Φ). Finally, it is proved thatL Φ (resp.l Φ) has the property that any linear continuous regular functional ξυ overE Φ (resp.h Φ) has a unique norm-preserving extension toL Φ (resp.l Φ) iff Φ orE Φ satisfies the suitable Δ2 and in the second case Φ* attains the value 1.  相似文献

Finsler's theorem asserts the equivalence of (i) and (ii) for pairs of real quadratic forms f and g on R n : (i) f( ξ ) >0 for all ξ≠ 0 with g( ξ ) =0; (ii) f-λ g>0 for some λ∈ R. We prove two extensions: 1. We admit a vector-valued quadratic form g: R n R k , for which we show that (i) implies that f-λ . . . g>0 on an ( n-k+1 ) -dimensional subspace Y R n for some λ∈ R k . 2. In the nonstrict version of Finsler's theorem for indefinite g we replace R n by a real vector space X . Accepted 22 February 1998  相似文献

Let X 1 , X 2 , ..., Xn be n independent identically distributed real random variables and Sn = Σ n=1 n Xi. We obtain precise asymptotics forP (Sn ∈ nA) for rather arbitrary Borel sets A1 in terms of the density of the dominating points in A. Our result extends classical theorems in the field of large deviations for independent samples. We also obtain asymptotics forP (Sn ∈ γnA), with γn/n → ∞. Suppose one observes a path of a stochastic processX = (Xt)t≥0 driven by the equation dXt=θ a(Xt)dt + dWt, t≥0, θ ≥ 0 with a(x) = x or a(x) = |x|α for some α ∈ [0,1) and given initial condition X 0. If the true but unknown parameter θ0 is positive then X is non-ergodic. It is shown that in this situation a trajectory fitting estimator for θ0 is strongly consistent and has the same limiting distribution as the maximum likelihood estimator, but converges of minor order.  Let G be a graph with n vertices, and denote as γ(G) (as θ(G)) the cardinality of a minimum edge cover (of a minimum clique cover) of G. Let E (let C) be the edge-vertex (the clique-vertex) incidence matrix of G; write then P(E)={x∈ℜ n :Ex1,x0}, P(C)={x∈ℜ n :Cx1,x0}, α E (G)=max{1 T x subject to xP(E)}, and α C (G)= max{1 T x subject to xP(C)}. In this paper we prove that if α E (G)=α C (G), then γ(G)=θ(G). Received: May 20, 1998?Final version received: April 12, 1999  相似文献

Summary Here we prove the following result. Fix integersq, τ,a’, b’, a’ i, 1≤i≤τ,a’, b’, a’ i, 1≤i≤τ; then there is an integerew such that for every integertw, for every algebraically closed fieldK for every smooth complete surfaceX with negative Kodaira dimension, irregularityq andK X 2 =8(1−q)−τ, the following condition holds; ifXS is a sequence fo τ blowing-downs which gives a relatively minimal model with ruling ρ:SC, take as basis of the Neron Severi groupNS(X) a smooth rational curve which is the total transform of a fiber ofC, the total transform of a minimal section of ρ and the total transformD i, 1≤i≤τ, of the exceptional curver; then for everyH andL∈Pic (X) withH ample,H (resp.L) represented by the integersa’, b’, a’ i, (resp.a’, b’, a’ i), 1≤i≤τ, in the chosen basis ofNS(X) the moduli spaceM(ZX, 2,H, L, t) of rank 2H-stable vector bundles onX with determinantL andc 2=t is generically smooth and the number, dimension and ?birational structure? of the irreducible components ofM(X, 2,H, L, t)red do not depend on the choice ofK andX. Furthermore the birational structure of these irreducible components can be loosely described in terms of the birational structure of the components of suitableM(S, 2,H’, L’, t’)red withS a relatively minimal model ofX.
