The nonlinear propagation of dust ion-acoustic (DIA) shock waves is studied in a charge varying dusty plasma with electrons having kappa velocity distribution. We use hot ions with equilibrium streaming speed and a fast superthermal electron charging current derived from orbit limited motion (OLM) theory. It is found that the presence of superthermal electrons does not only significantly modify the basic properties of shock waves, but also causes the existence of shock profile with only positive potential in such plasma with parameter ranges corresponding to Saturn?s rings. It is also shown that the strength and steepness of the shock waves decrease with increase of the size of dust grains and ion temperature.  相似文献

Properties of nonplanar (viz. cylindrical and spherical) dust ion-acoustic (DIA) solitary and shock waves propagating in a dusty plasma containing charge fluctuating stationary dust, inertial warm ions, and non-isothermal electrons following a vortex-like distribution, are investigated by the reductive perturbation method. It has been shown that all the basic features of the DIA solitary and shock waves are significantly modified by the effects of vortex-like electron distribution, dust charge fluctuation, and nonplanar cylindrical and spherical geometries. The implications of our results in some space and laboratory dusty plasma environments are briefly discussed.  相似文献

Theoretical investigation on the propagation of ion-acoustic waves in an unmagnetized self-gravitating plasma has been made for the existence of solitary waves using the reductive perturbation method. It is observed that nonlinear excitations follow a coupled third-order partial differential equation which is slightly different from the usual case of coupled Korteweg-de Vries (K-dV) system. It appears that the system so deduced is a two-component generalization of the previous one derived by Paul et al. (1999) in which it was shown that ion-acoustic solitary waves can not exist in such system.  相似文献

An exact solution is obtained for the equations that describe nonlinear ion-acoustic waves in a dusty plasma. It is shown that the solution can be in the form of nonlinear periodic waves, solitons, and supernonlinear waves whose trajectories envelope one or several separatrices in the phase portrait of the wave. Profiles of physical quantities in the wave are constructed. The supernonlinear waves are shown to be of two types, subsonic (type 1) and supersonic (type 2). Existence regions of supernonlinear waves of both types and solitons are constructed in the plane of the problem parameters.  相似文献

A nonlinear Schrödinger equation for ion-acoustic waves in a collision-free plasma, consisting of a mixture of two cold ion species and hot isothermal electrons is derived using the KBM method. It is used to discuss the modulation instability in which the effect of the light-on concentration is analysed. We find that the unstable region depends sensitively upon the fraction of light-ion concentration (α) and the ion-mass ratio. An approximate relation for αcritical is derived for a given ion species in terms of the ion-mass ratio, which governs the minimum wave number, below which the carrier wave is stable against the modulational instability.  相似文献

A dusty plasma system containing Boltzmann electrons, mobile ions and charge fluctuating stationary dust has been considered. The nonlinear propagation of the dust-ion-acoustic waves in such a dusty plasma has been investigated by employing the reductive perturbation method. It has been shown that the dust charge fluctuation is a source of dissipation and is responsible for the formation of the dust-ion-acoustic shock waves. The basic features of such dust-ion-acoustic shock waves have been identified. The implications of our results in space and laboratory dusty plasmas are discussed.  相似文献

The nonlinear propagation of the dust-electron-acoustic waves in a dusty plasma consisting of cold and hot electrons, stationary and streaming ions, and charge fluctuating stationary dust has been investigated by employing the reductive perturbation method. It has been shown that the dust charge fluctuation is a source of dissipation, and is responsible for the formation of the dust-electron-acoustic shock waves in such a dusty plasma. The basic features of such dust-electron-acoustic shock waves have been identified. It has been proposed to design a new laboratory experiment which will be able to identify the basic features of the dust-electron-acoustic shock waves predicted in this theoretical investigation.  相似文献

For an unmagnetised collisionless plasma consisting of warm ions, nonisothermal electrons and cold, massive and charged dust grains, the Sagdeev potential equation, considering both ion dynamics and dust dynamics has been derived. It has been observed that the Sagdeev potential V(ϕ) exists only for ϕ > 0 up to an upper limit (ϕ ≃ 1.2). This implies the possibility of existence of compressive solitary wave in the plasma. Exhaustive numerics done for both the large-amplitude and small-amplitude ion-acoustic waves have revealed that various parameters, namely, ion temperature, non-isothermality of electrons, Mach numbers etc. have considerable impact on the amplitude as well as the width of the solitary waves. Dependence of soliton profiles on the ion temperature and the Mach number has also been graphically displayed. Moreover, incorporating dust-charge fluctuation and non-isothermality of electrons, a non-linear equation relating the grain surface potential to the electrostatic potential has been derived. It has been solved numerically and interdependence of the two potentials for various ion temperatures and orders of non-isothermality has been shown graphically.   相似文献

The effects of external magnetized field and nonadiabatic dust charge fluctuation on instability of wave incorporating the nonthermally distributed ions and the temperatures of ion and dust in dusty plasmas are investigated. A linear dispersion relation is obtained. The numerical results show that the external magnetized field, fast ions and nonadiabatic dust charge fluctuation have strong influence on the frequency and the damping of wave.  相似文献

The quantum hydrodynamic model is employed to study the soliton and chaotic structures of dust ion-acoustic waves in quantum dusty plasmas consisting of electrons, ions, and negatively/positively charged dust particles. By means of the reductive perturbation technique, two-dimensional Davey-Stewartson (DS) system is derived. By improving the extended projective method and the extended tanh-function method, a separation of variables solution with arbitrary functions for the Davey-Stewartson system is obtained. Many soliton and chaotic structures such as localized nonlinear coherent structure, line-soliton structure, periodic wave pattern structure, Rössler and Lorenz chaotic structures are given. It is found that these structures are effected by the quantum effects.  相似文献

The basic features of obliquely propagating dust ion-acoustic (DIA) solitary waves in a hot adiabatic magnetized dusty plasma (containing adiabatic inertia-less electrons, adiabatic inertial ions, and negatively charged static dust) have been investigated. The reductive perturbation method has been employed to derive the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation which admits a small amplitude solitary wave solution. The combined effects of plasma particle (electron and ion) adiabaticity, ion-dust collision, and external magnetic field (obliqueness), which are found to significantly modify the basic features of the small but finite-amplitude DIA solitary waves are explicitly examined. The implications of our results in space and laboratory dusty plasmas are briefly discussed.  相似文献

The effects of elongated rotating dust grains on the mode transitions of the dispersion relation of the surface dust ion-acoustic waves are investigated in a semi-bounded dusty plasma. The dispersion relation of the surface dust ion-acoustic wave is obtained by the plasma dielectric function with the specular reflection boundary condition. The result shows the existence of the dust ion-acoustic resonance modes in small and large wave number regions. It is also shown that the surface wave would be propagated in intermediate wave number domains. It is interesting to note that the wave propagation domain has been diminished with an increase of the rotation frequency.  相似文献

The problem of nonlinear variable charge dust acoustic waves in a dusty plasma with trapped ions is revisited. The correct non-isothermal ion charging current is presented for the first time based on the orbit motion limited (OML) approach. The variable dust charge is then expressed in terms of the Lambert function and we take advantage of this new transcendental function to investigate nonlinear localized dust acoustic waves in a charge varying dusty plasma with trapped ions more rigorously.  相似文献

In a dusty plasma, the non-adiabaticity of the charge variation on a dust grain surface results in an anomalous dissipation. Analytical investigation shows that this results in a small but finite amplitude dust acoustic (DA) wave propagation which is described by the Korteweg-de Vries-Burger equation. Results of the numerical investigation of the propagation of large-amplitude dust acoustic stationary shock wave are presented here using the complete set of non-linear dust fluid equations coupled with the dust charging equation and Poisson equation. The DA waves are of compressional type showing considerable increase of dust density, which is of significant importance in astrophysical context as it leads to enhanced gravitational attraction considered as a viable process for star formation. The DA shock transition to its far downstream amplitude is oscillatory in nature due to dust charge fluctuations, the oscillation amplitude and shock width depending on the ratioω pd/Vch and other plasma parameters Article presented at the International Conference on the Frontiers of Plasma Physics and Technology, 9–14 December 2002, Bangalore, India.  相似文献

Nonlinear adiabatic models of ion-acoustic waves in a dust plasma are developed. The problem of the structure of subsonic periodic and supersonic solitary ion-acoustic waves is exactly solved analytically under the assumption of a constant charge of dust particles; the critical Mach numbers for the solitary wave are determined. The problem of the wave structure is solved numerically for the case when the charge of dust particles was assumed to be variable.  相似文献

Dust ion-acoustic waves propagation in the magnetized dusty plasma including ions, electrons and dust particulates are studied by using kinetic equation. For unbounded and collisionless plasma and in the presence of uniform external magnetic field B0, electrons and ions with Lorentzian distribution function and dust particles with Maxwellian one are considered. Calculating dielectric tensor through the Vlasov equation solution, in the parallel propagation, dispersion relation is derived and suprathermal particle effects on the Landau damping is studied. It is shown that the Landau damping effect vanishes for parallel propagation.  相似文献

Dust ion-acoustic waves propagating in a complex plasma containing dusty particles and suprathermal electrons and ions are kinetically analyzed. The suprathermal particles are effectively modeled by the Lorentzian (kappa) velocity distribution function. For a collisionless and unmagnetized plasma, the full spectrum of the dispersion relation is obtained and the suprathermal particle effects on the wave frequency and the Landau damping are investigated. For a given wave number, the wave frequency decreases as the spectral index κ decreases, especially very rapidly in the low κ region. The Landau damping of the wave and its maximum are derived. They are found to be enhanced by the increase of suprathermal particles. The ion-to-electron density ratio also enhances the damping rate greatly.  相似文献

The excitation and propagation of finite-amplitude low-frequency solitary waves are investigated in an argon plasma impregnated with kaolin dust particles. A nonlinear longitudinal dust acoustic solitary wave is excited by pulse modulating the discharge voltage with a negative potential. It is found that the velocity of the solitary wave increases and the width decreases with the increase of the modulating voltage, but the product of the solitary wave amplitude and the square of the width remains nearly constant. The experimental findings are compared with analytic soliton solutions of a model Korteveg-de Vries equation.  相似文献

The nonlinear dust acoustic waves in a dusty plasmas with the combined effects of non-adiabatic dust charge fluctuation and higher-order transverse perturbation are studied. Using the perturbation method, a Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) Burgers equation that governing the dust acoustic waves is deduced for the first time. A particular solution of this KP Burgers equation is also obtained. It is show that the dust acoustic shock waves can exist in the KP Burgers equation.Received: 18 March 2003, Published online: 15 July 2003PACS: 52.35.Sb Solitons; BGK modes - 52.35.Mw Nonlinear phenomena: waves, and nonlinear wave propagation, and other interactions (including parametric effects, mode coupling, ponderomotive effects, etc.)  相似文献
