This paper explores fundamental connections between boundedness of orbits, and stability and attractivity of closed sets. For this purpose, the paper considers topological notions of stability and attractivity which do not depend on a metric. The notions considered are characterized in terms of restricted prolongations and positive limit sets, and connections with boundedness are studied. Finally, the notion of nontangency is used to give a Lyapunov result for Lyapunov stability, attractivity and boundedness of orbits. Unlike previous sufficient conditions for boundedness, our result does not require the Lyapunov function to be proper or weakly proper. Examples are provided to illustrate the results.  相似文献

The general concept of boundedness in a topological space generalizes both metric boundedness and relative compactness. A one-point extension o( X) of the space X is naturally associated to each boundedness X and every Hausdorff one-point extensions of a space X can be obtained in this way. Imitating this construction, it is possible to define a much more general class of Hausdorff extensions of a locally bounded space with respect to a given boundedness, the so-called B-extensions. In this paper we study separation properties and metrizability of this kind of extension.   相似文献

This work focuses on the nonemptiness and boundedness of the sets of efficient and weak efficient solutions of a vector optimization problem, where the decision space is a normed space and the image space is a locally convex Hausdorff topological linear space. By studying certain boundedness and coercivity concepts of vector-valued functions and via an asymptotic analysis, we extend to this kind of problems some well-known existence and boundedness results for efficient and weak efficient solutions of multiobjective optimization problems with Pareto or polyhedral orderings. Some of these results are proved under weaker assumptions.  相似文献

In the current paper, BAM neural networks with time-varying coefficients and distributed time delays are studied. Sufficient conditions guaranteeing the exponential componentwise convergence and existence of one unique periodic solution are obtained by the comparison principle, continuation theorem of topological degree and inequality techniques. The boundedness and differentiability of activation functions are removed. The obtained sufficient criteria are easy to verify and are hence very useful in applications.  相似文献

A classical result in the theory of uniform spaces is that any topological space with a base of clopen sets admits a uniformity with a transitive base and the uniform topology of such a space has a base of clopen sets. Locally convex vector groups are topological vector spaces over the discrete real or complex numberfield with a neighbourhoodbase of zero consisting of absolutely convex sets (cf. P. Kenderov [3], D.A. Raikov [8]). In this note, which is a continuation of “Lokalkreisförmige Vektorgruppen” (to appear in this journal), we introduce the concept of barrelled locally convex vector groups, study their permanence properties under the usual constructions (final-initialtopologies etc.) and prove the principle of uniform boundedness in this setting. Finally we consider some special examples of barrelled locally convex vector groups leading to a generalisation of a theorem of V. Ptak (Theorem 2.2 in [7]), which turns out to be a special case of the uniform boundedness principle for locally convex vector groups.  相似文献

E E. Browder and W. V. Petryshyn defined the topological degree for A- proper mappings and then W. V. Petryshyn studied a class of A-proper mappings, namely, P1-compact mappings and obtained a number of important fixed point theorems by virtue of the topological degree theory. In this paper, following W. V. Petryshyn, we continue to study P1-compact mappings and investigate the boundary condition, under which many new fixed point theorems of P1-compact mappings are obtained. On the other hand, this class of A-proper mappings with the boundedness property includes completely continuous operators and so, certain interesting new fixed point theorems for completely continuous operators are obtained immediately. As a result of it, our results generalize several famous theorems such as Leray-Schauder's theorem, Rothe's theorem, Altman's theorem, Petryshyn's theorem, etc.  相似文献

The authors discuss the existence of the equilibrium point and its global exponential stability of reaction-diffusion cellular neural networks (RDCNNs) with S-type distributed signal transmission delays along the axon of a neuron by means of the topological degree theory and differential inequality technique. A theorem and two corollaries were obtained in which the boundedness, monotonicity and differentiability conditions on the activation functions are not required. The sufficient conditions on global exponential stability established in this paper, which are easily verifiable, have a wider adaptive range.  相似文献

In this paper, the authors prove that the flows of homogeneous vector field $Q(x)$ at infinity are topologically equivalent to the flows of the tangent vector field $Q_T(u)$ $(u\in S^2)$ on the sphere $S^2$, and show the theorems for the global topological classification of $Q(x)$. They derive the necessary and sufficient conditions for the global asymptotic stability and the boundedness of vector field $Q(x),$ and obtain the criterion for the global topological equivalence of two homogeneous vector fields.  相似文献

Precompactness or total boundedness for uniform frames is usually distinguished by a cover approach. In this note, we provide alternate characterizations of precompact uniform frames. In particular, we formulate pointfree filter analogues of various classical topological results on precompactness. We introduce the notion of partial uniform boundedness of solutions with partially controlled initial conditions in the general case, that is, the case in which the part of variables with respect to which the boundedness of solutions is studied is a subset of the part of variables with respect to which the initial conditions are controlled. We obtain a criterion for the partial uniform boundedness of solutions with partly controlled initial conditions. We introduce the notion of partial total boundedness of solutions with partly controlled initial conditions. We define new complexity classes in the Blum–Shub–Smale theory of computation over the reals, in the spirit of the polynomial hierarchy, with the help of infinitesimal and generic quantifiers. Basic topological properties of semialgebraic sets like boundedness, closedness, compactness, as well as the continuity of semialgebraic functions are shown to be complete in these new classes. All attempts to classify the complexity of these problems in terms of the previously studied complexity classes have failed. We also obtain completeness results in the Turing model for the corresponding discrete problems. In this setting, it turns out that infinitesimal and generic quantifiers can be eliminated, so that the relevant complexity classes can be described in terms of the usual quantifiers only.   相似文献
