Excess frequency noise induced by mechanical vibration is the dominant noise source at low Fourier frequencies in fiber-delay-line stabilized lasers. To resolve this problem, a double-winding fiber spool is designed and implemented that has ultralow acceleration sensitivity in all spatial directions. By carefully choosing the optimal geometry parameters of the fiber spool, we achieve acceleration sensitivity of 8 × 10~(-11)/g and 3 × 10~(-11)/g(g denotes the gravitational acceleration) in axial and radial directions, respectively. 相似文献

We report an improved mounting configuration for a passive optical cavity used for laser frequency stabilization. A neon 633 nm laser with an unstable cavity was made to lase in the negative unstable region. The characteristic parameters were measured. The loss calculated by using both the geometric approach and the diffraction integral is higher than the gain of the gas mixture, it contradicts the experimental results. If the radial dependence of the gain is taken into account then the calculated loss fits the experimental results satisfactorily. 相似文献

Experimental generation of stable mode-locked pulses and cylindrical vector beams(CVBs), from an all fewmode fiber(FMF) ring laser is first reported, to the best of our knowledge. In this laser, a section of few-mode erbium-doped fiber(FM-EDF) is used as the gain medium. The FM-EDF is pumped by 976 nm laser with LP11 mode, which is simultaneously converted and multiplexed through a homemade hybrid device, i.e., wavelength division multiplexing-mode selection coupler(WDM-MSC). All the components in our experiment are connected using FMF. The resulted CVB pulses have a spectral width of 0.33 nm with a repetition rate of 30.58 MHz under the pump power of 340 m W. Moreover, both azimuthally and radially polarized CVBs were achieved with a high purity of 95%. This mode-locked CVB fiber laser with an all FMF configuration opens the way to manipulate the transverse mode in mode-locked fiber lasers. 相似文献

Tunable dual-wavelength operation of a laser diode has been achieved using a dual-period holographic element. The holographic element was positioned in Littrow configuration in an external cavity. The design of this holographic element was based on the superposition of a constant-period grating and a variable-period grating on the same location in a photoresist. We observed simultaneous emission at two wavelengths from a visible semiconductor laser operated with this holographic element. The spectral separation of the dual-wavelength output was varied from 0.76 to 6.27 nm by a simple translation of the holographic element. 相似文献

We describe the construction and operation of an external cavity diode laser in which the diode is cooled to -45 °C. This technique allows us to pull the wavelength of a nominally 782 nm diode to operate at 766.7 nm, a change of over 15 nm. The important aspects of our design are its ease and low cost as compared to other designs of changing the operating wavelength of laser diodes. The linewidth of an external cavity quantum cascade laser is studied as a function of injection current and laser scan rate. The laser linewidth is inferred to be ca. 2.5 MHz from Lamb-dip spectra on a low pressure sample of NO and its variation with injection current is well modeled using literature values for the intrinsic material properties of the lasing medium. The laser linewidth measurements are corroborated by polarization spectroscopy studies as well as by analysis of hyperfine structure and cross-over resonances. 相似文献

We demonstrate continuous-wave (cw) operation of a diamond Raman laser at 1240 nm in an external cavity configuration. The output power increased linearly with pump power with a 49.7% slope efficiency and reached 10.1 W at the maximum available pump power of 31 W. of 976 nm. Locking of the diode laser emission to the resonance frequency of the ring cavity was achieved by an optical self-injection
locking technique. With this setup more than 126 mW of diffraction-limited blue light at 488 nm could be generated. The opto–optical

A pulsed cooling scheme for optomechanical systems is presented that is capable of cooling at much faster rates, shorter overall cooling times, and for a wider set of experimental scenarios than is possible by conventional methods. The proposed scheme can be implemented for both strongly and weakly coupled optomechanical systems in both weakly and highly dissipative cavities. We study analytically its underlying working mechanism, which is based on interferometric control of optomechanical interactions, and we demonstrate its efficiency with pulse sequences that are obtained by using methods from optimal control. The short time in which our scheme approaches the optomechanical ground state allows for a significant relaxation of current experimental constraints. Finally, the framework presented here can be used to create a rich variety of optomechanical interactions and hence offers a novel, readily available toolbox for fast optomechanical quantum control. 相似文献

The first use of an external cavity diode-laser light source in combination with a photoacoustic detector for high-sensitivity gas detection is described. This combined system is applicable for detecting gases with absorption coefficients as low as 5 x 10–8 cm–1 by operating the photoacoustic cell in an intracavity mode. Measurements were made on the 1.13 m absorption lines of water vapour. For quantitative measurements, it was found to be necessary to introduce a reference cell into the system. 相似文献

Optical feedback modifies the power vs. current diagram of a laser diode as well as its spectrum. Though optimization of the spectral characteristics is usually the main goal in the design of an external cavity source, power efficiency is also important, especially with relatively high power devices, where temperature variations due to dissipation can have an impact on the wavelength stability and on the laser lifetime. A useful parameter to describe the total power efficiency of the stabilized laser, relative to that of the solitary laser, is proposed in this paper. The dependence of this parameter on the characteristics of the active device, and of the external cavity, is investigated. 相似文献
