Natural aging and dynamic mechanical properties of polymer matrices

The influence of natural six-month aging at 293 K of two kinds of epoxy resins with different network density on their dynamical properties was studied. All the samples were examined by forced resonance oscillations at a frequency of 200 Hz in the range of 120–520 K. The components of the complex Young's modulus E, E, tan , and low-frequency velocity of sound were measured. The basic temperature transitions including T_g and the network density were determined from the experimental data. It was established that after aging of epoxy resins cured by the cross-linking agent meta-phenylenediamine their network density decreased (cold degradation). By using the cross-linking agent 2,6-diaminopyridine, and T_g increased. Some functional inequalities and their Baire category properties

Summary In the paper we consider, from a topological point of view, the set of all continuous functionsf:I I for which the unique continuous solution:I – [0, ) of(f(x)) (x, (x)) and(x, (x)) (f(x)) (x, (x)), respectively, is the zero function. We obtain also some corollaries on the qualitative theory of the functional equation(f(x)) = g(x, (x)). No assumption on the iterative behaviour off is imposed.     

Regularization of Nonlinear Ill-Posed Variational Inequalities and Convergence Rates

Let H be a Hilbert space and K be a nonempty closed convex subset of H. For f H, we consider the (ill-posed) problem of finding u K for which 0 for all v K, where A : H H is a monotone (not necessarily linear) operator. We study the approximation of the solutions of the variational inequality by using the following perturbed variational inequality: for f H, f – f , find u, K for which 0 for all v K, where , , and are positive parameters, and K, a perturbation of the set K, is a nonempty closed convex set in H. We establish convergence and a rate O(1 / 3) of convergence of the solutions of the regularized variational inequalities to a solution of the original variational inequality using the Mosco approximation of closed convex sets, where A is a weakly differentiable inverse-strongly-monotone operator.     

A sandwich theorem and Hyers—Ulam stability of affine functions

It is shown that two real functionsf andg, defined on a real intervalI, satisfy the inequalitiesf(x + (1 – )y) g(x) + (1 – )g(y) andg(x + (1 – )y) f(x) + (1 – )f(y) for allx, y I and [0, 1], iff there exists an affine functionh: I such thatf h g. As a consequence we obtain a stability result of Hyers—Ulam type for affine functions.     

On Interpolation of the Fourier Maximal Operator in Orlicz Spaces

Let and be positive increasing convex functions defined on [0, ). Suppose satisfies the 2-condition, that is, (t)2 (C1t) for sufficiently large t, and has some nice properties. If -1(u)log(u+1) C2-1(u) for sufficiently large uthen we have S*(f) L CfL for all f L ([-, ])where S*(f) is the majorant function of partial sums of trigonometric Fourier series and fL is the Orlicz norm of f. This result is sharp.
